Marjorie Ann Overton

ATHENS -- Funeral for Marjorie Ann Overton, 64, of Elkmont will be today at 1 p.m. at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church with Juaken Dumas and James Turner officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Overton died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born March 31, 1936, in Lauderdale County. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, George Overton of Athens; two daughters, Billie Clinard of Athens and Edna Kelley of Elkmont; her father, George Wallace White of Elkmont; two sisters, Jeanette Morrison of Lester and Betty Brewer of Athens; three brothers, Donald White of Athens, Cee Bee White of Texas and Thomas White of Athens; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jimmie Ray Parker
57, construction worker

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Jimmie Ray Parker, 57, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Cedar Creek Cemetery with the Rev. David Hale officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Parker died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Aug. 9, 1943, in Morgan County to Charlie Parker and Myrtle Marie Slaughter. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include one brother, Jack Parker of Hartselle; and five sisters, Annie Duncan, Jean Eubanks, Peggy Griffith and Pat Fields, all of Hartselle, and JoAnn Hale of Falkville.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Evelyn McDonald Riddle
86, retired store owner

Funeral for Evelyn McDonald Riddle, 86, of Decatur will be today at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hal Noble and the Rev. John Clotfelter officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends in the church parlor for one hour before the service.

Mrs. Riddle died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born July 4, 1914, in Athens to Joseph Simpson McDonald and Eva Looney McDonald. She was a graduate of Athens College for Young Women and attended Auburn University. She and her husband owned and operated Riddle Furniture Co. until 1958, and Riddle Rug and Upholstery Cleaners until 1981. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Good Fellowship class.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse Ernest Riddle; two daughters, Joyce Riddle Fuller of Cummings, Ga., and Peggy Riddle Black of Decatur; two sisters, Lilly McDonald Ancell of Rogersville and Connie McDonald Lane of Kerrville, Texas; and two granddaughters.

Pallbearers will be John Black, Jack Fuller, Alan Carlquist, Richard Christensen, Joe McDonald and Kyle McDonald.

Members of the Good Fellowship class will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church building fund.

Luvicie Hargrave Sandlin
93, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Luvicie Hargrave Sandlin, 93, of Athens will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sandlin died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at her home. She was born Oct. 5, 1906, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Springs Church of Christ. She was the widow of James Nick Sandlin.

Survivors include five sons, Billy James Sandlin, Malcolm Nick Sandlin, Joe Calvin Sandlin and Jerry Neal Sandlin, all of Athens, and Charles Larry Sandlin of Huntsville; five daughters, Marjorie Eleanor Hays, Martha Ann Young, Susie Carolyn Holliday and Judy Lee Norton, all of Athens, and Frances Mae Fultz of Lewisburg, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Bailey of Athens and Minnie Marlow of Louisville, Ky., 22 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Athens.

Mary Willa Walker Worley
90, homemaker, textile worker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Mary Willa Walker Worley, 90, of Falkville will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Jack Redfearn officiating.

Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. at Conn Cemetery near Clear Creek in Etowah County.

Mrs. Worley died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Falkville Health Care Center. She was born March 23, 1910, in Blount County to John Tel Walker and Mattie Jane Prickett Walker. She was a homemaker, a textile worker and a member of West Hartselle Baptist Church. She was the widow of Robert D. Worley.

Survivors include two sons, Bethel Worley of Hartselle and Bobby Worley of Augusta, Ga., two daughters, Jonnie Pierce of Jackson, S.C., and Marion Dutton of Pell City; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Jimmy Entrekin
65, Zigler Meat Co. salesman

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Jimmy Entrekin, 65, of Hartselle will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Jessie White officiating.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Entrekin died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 9, 1935, in Morgan County to Elmer Entrekin and Grace Chunn Entrekin. He was a salesman for Zigler Meat Co. and attended First Assembly Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Conner Entrekin; two daughters, Therisa Smith of Decatur and Terri Whilite of Falkville; three sisters, Judy Anders and Freda Sparkman, both of Hartselle, and Jane Parker of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Delene G. Gibbs
62, retired city clerk

ONEONTA -- Funeral for Delene G. Gibbs, 62, of Decatur, formerly of Oneonta, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lemley Chapel with the Rev. Don Wright officiating.

Burial will be in Blount Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gibbs died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. She was born Aug. 6, 1938, near Jemison. She was an Oneonta city clerk before retiring. She was the widow of John Wesley Gibbs Sr.

Survivors include one son, Wesley Gibbs of Decatur; her parents, Doyle and Nannie Gay of Jemison; one sister, Shirley Price of Clanton; and one granddaughter.

Elsie Parker Howard
91, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Elsie Parker Howard, 91, of Moulton will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Nicholson and Roger Loosier officiating.

Burial will be in Bogar Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Howard died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at National Health Care Center. She was born Feb. 12, 1909, in Lawrence County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Minnie Sue Howard Woodard of Moulton.

Nephews and friends will be pallbearers.

Lula Jane Lemay

ATHENS -- Funeral for Lula Jane Lemay, 90, of Athens will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Gooch and the Rev. Jessie Littrell officiating.

Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lemay died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Athens Convalescent Center. She was born Jan. 3, 1910, in Lauderdale County. She was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of Floyd Andrew Lemay and the mother of the late Linda Urban.

Survivors include two sons, Neal Lemay of Anderson and Byron Lemay of Athens; two daughters, Ruby Irene Liverett and Doris Lynn, both of Athens; one sister, Dovie Irene Reels of Athens; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Joel Lynn, Darren Urban, Gerald Liverett, Gary Liverett, Steven Lynn, David Lynn, Michael Lemay and Chris Urban.

Memorials may be made to the Alpha Ranch, c/o Gary Liverett, 1000 Alpha Ranch Drive, Ashville, AL 35953.

Maggie Stricklin

Mrs. Stricklin died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at National Health Care Center. She was born March 8, 1903, in Lawrence County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sisters, Dewey Odell of Madison and Cora Odell of Andersonville, Tenn.

Harriet Robinson Watson
73, registered nurse

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Harriet Jean Robinson Watson, 73, of Hartselle will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. W.G. Henry officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Watson died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at home. She was born April 16, 1927, in Vincennes, Ind. She graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 and became a registered nurse. Early in her career, she was a home visiting nurse in California and later became nursing supervisor at Hartselle Hospital. She was a charter member of the Alabama Association of School Nurses for 22 years. In 1981, she was named Alabama School Nurse of the Year by the Alabama Association of School Nurses. She was a Morgan County Health Department school nurse who worked for Morgan County Schools for 22 years and received an award for excellence in nursing from the system when she retired in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Delta Theta Tall Sorority and American Legion Auxiliary. She was the widow of Joe L. Watson.

Survivors include one daughter, Andrea Linebaugh of Fayetteville, Ark.; one brother, Albert Robinson of Navarre, Fla.; and one sister, Frances Helmling of Vincennes.

Memorials may be made to The Caring Place, Good Samaritans or First United Methodist Church building fund.

Jimmy Wayne Laney
55, Solutia utility worker

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Jimmy Wayne Laney, 55, of Cullman will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Elton Rutherford and the Rev. Jack Sandlin officiating.

Burial will be in Central Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Laney died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at his home. He was born Oct. 1, 1945, in Cullman to Raymond Laney and Myrel Rodgers Laney. He was a utility worker for Solutia and the widower of Barbara Yarbrough Laney.

Survivors include two sons, Wesley Laney and Cresley Laney, both of Cullman; one daughter, Lesley Hembree of Cullman; his parents of Cullman; one brother, Ricky Laney of Cullman; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Harold Little, Daryll Tramell, Lynn Christopher, W.D. Perry, Matt Laney and Greg Blackwood.
