Quentin R. 'Q.R.' Lentz
81, store owner

TRINITY -- Funeral for Quentin R. "Q.R." Lentz, 81, of Caddo will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Nix officiating.

Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lentz died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1918, in Lawrence County to Schuyler Lentz and Ruth McWhorter Lentz. He owned Q.R. Lentz Groceries and was a lifetime contributor to Caddo baseball. He was inducted into the Lawrence County Hall of Fame, and was a gun and knife collector and trader. He was the widower of Mamie L. Lentz.

Survivors include four sons, Tommy L. Lentz, Henry M. Lentz, Tony Q. Lentz and Gregory H. Lentz, all of Caddo; one daughter, Linda Lentz Witt of Caddo; one brother, Barkley Lentz of Caddo; three sisters, Anna Lamon of Trinity, Clara Phelps of Decatur and Sarah Pearl Counts of Indiana; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Lentz, Marty Lentz, Dwight Witt Jr., Jim Knop, Donald Lentz and Jimmy Lentz.

Memorials may be made to Caddo-Midway Fire and Rescue, 7909 Lawrence County 214, Trinity, AL 35673.

Maggie Ellen Stricklin
96, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Maggie Ellen Stricklin, 96, of Moulton was to be today at 11 a.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Hale and the Rev. Clyde Goodlett officiating.

Burial was to be in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Stricklin died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at National Health Care in Moulton. She was born March 25, 1904, in Lawrence County to Absolum Odell and Mary Frances Odell. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Lawrence County.

Family and friends will be pallbearers.

Odie R'Della Whitworth
78, homemaker

MCMINNVILLE, Tenn. -- Funeral for Odie R'Della Whitworth, 78, of McMinnville will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Weber and the Rev. Ralph Tucker officiating.

Burial will be in Shellsford Cemetery. The family will receive friends today until 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whitworth died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. She was born Dec. 9, 1921, in Marshall County, Tenn., to Andrew Davidson Gragg and Mary Etta Luna Gragg. She was a homemaker and a member of Rolling Acres Brethren in Christ Church. She was the mother of the late Hubert Lynn Whitworth and the sister of the late Wesley Gragg, Tom Gragg, L.B. Gragg, Janie Stevenson and Vallie Brock.

Survivors include her husband, Hubert Lee Whitworth; two sons, Kenneth Whitworth of Decatur and James Whitworth of McMinnville; four daughters, Helen Hale of Smithville, Tenn., and Carolyn Mayfield, Linda Huff and Sharon Whitworth, all of McMinnville; two sisters, Lottie Adams of Shelbyville, Tenn., and Jessie Sheffeld of Mentor, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

M.W. Haney
84, cotton farmer

ATHENS -- Funeral for M.W. Haney, 84, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. James Spears and the Rev. Ray McElhaney officiating. Burial was to be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Haney died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born July 3, 1916, in Limestone County. He was a cotton farmer in Limestone County. Prior to farming, he helped build the Guntersville and Kentucky dams for Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a former board member of the Limestone Farmer's Co-op, a Woodman of the World member, a championship domino player and a member of Nebo Presbyterian Church. He was the widower of Garna Paige Haney.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Norton Haney; two sons, Shirley Haney and Horace Haney, both of Athens; two daughters, Hilda Sinclair of Charlotte, N.C., and Debra Gooch of Athens; three brothers, Merritt Haney of Atalla, Ransom Haney and Button Haney, both of Athens; four sisters, Hazel Smith of Baileyton, Marchetta Swanner of Athens, Juanita Sims of South Carolina and Jewell Hunt of Huntsville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Keith Haney, Matt Haney, Lance Copeland, Dwight Gooch, Cody Haney, Grover Lawson, Gerald Maness and Bill Norton. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Nebo Presbyterian Church and granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Disease Research at 1250 Hylan Blvd. Suite 4B, Staten Island, NY 10305-1944, the American Diabetes Association at 200 Office Park Drive, Suite 303, Birmingham, AL or the Alzheimer's Association North Alabama Chapter, 3322 S. Joseph Wesley Hollis
63, auto salesman

Memorial service for Joseph Wesley Hollis, 63, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.

Shelton Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Hollis died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at home.

He was born Feb. 5, 1937, in Atlanta to William Adam Hollis and Marguerite Emma Fowler Hollis. He was an auto salesman.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Hollis Jr. of Cynthina, Ky.; two daughters, Rene Luttrell of Frankfort, Ky., and Shelby Hollis of East Point, Ga.; one brother, James P. Hollis of Florida; five sisters, Mildred Hembree, Bea Honea, Mary Sceely, Loretta Kelley and Marguerite Layler, all of Atlanta; one grandchild; and one step-grandchild.

Raymond Elmer Owens
63, painter

Funeral for Raymond Elmer Owens, 63, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church in Moulton with the Rev. H. N. Snodgrass officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton City Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Owens died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.

He was born May 12, 1937, in Lawrence County to Robert Owens and Ida Owens. He was a deacon and member of Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was the widower of Mattie Owens and was a painter for Baker Industries.

Survivors include two sons, Lacey Owens of Moulton and Raymond Malone of Decatur; one daughter, Sandra Owens of Moulton; four sisters, Onell Owens Warren and Girte Owens, both of Moulton, and Arbella Harrington and Pearl Grace, both of Decatur, Ill.; one brother, Fletcher Owens of Moulton; and four grandchildren.

Deacons of the church will be pallbearers.

Viva Pratt Swanner
76, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Viva Pratt Swanner, 76, of Athens was to be today at 3 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry F. Walls and the Rev. Randy Davis officiating. Burial was to be in Athens City Cemetery.

Mrs. Swanner died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center.

She was born June 7, 1924, in Limestone County to Oliver E. Pratt and Una Higgenbotham Pratt. She was a homemaker and a member of Round Island Baptist Church. She was the mother of the late Glenda Kay Swanner and the sister of the late E.E. Pratt.

Survivors include her husband, Edward W. Swanner; one daughter, DiAnne S. Taylor of Birmingham; one brother, Clifford Pratt of Athens; one sister, Katherine Pratt Monk of Athens; and two grandsons.

Pallbearers were to be Brett Monk, Bradley Monk, Don Monk, Bobby Pratt, Ruddie Putman and Leonard Johnson.

Memorials may be made to The Big Oak Children's Ranch, 5265 Jake Mitz Road, Southside, AL 35905.

June Bradley
67, travel clerk

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A memorial service for June Bradley, 67, of Albuquerque will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bradley was born in Decatur on May 14, 1933, and worked for NASA in Huntsville during the early years of the space program. For 21 years, she worked as a travel clerk for members of the military at Kirkland Air Force Base. She had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1970. She was mother of the late Bill Bradley and sister of the late Bill Lowe.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Bradley; two sons, Robert Bradley and John Bradley, both of Albuquerque; two daughters, Rebecca Bradley Stewart of Cantonment, Fla., and Brenda Bradley Saavedra of Albuquerque; two half-brothers, Jimmy Hester of Brentwood, Tenn., and Harvey Hester of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Dorothy Brooks

ATHENS -- Funeral for Dorothy Brooks, 73, of Athens, who died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Edna Mae Bunch
73, seamstress

ATHENS -- Funeral for Edna Mae Bunch, 73, of Athens will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Tim Keenum, Robert Hall and Doug Mattlock officiating.

Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Bunch died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at University Hospital in Birmingham. She was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Rogersville. She was a seamstress for Athens Lingerie for 24 years.

Survivors include one son, Kim Bunch of Athens; three daughters Mary Hinkle, June Gooch and Rhonda Blythe, all of Athens; two brothers, Gene Hammond of Florence and Berl Hammond of Rogersville; three sisters, Sara Still of Madison, Earline Smith and Joyce Murphy, both of Florence; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ray Garner, Skyler Bunch, James Hammond, Garry Smith, Neal Gooch and Kenny Blythe.

Earl Gossett
83, retired paint contractor

Funeral for Earl Gossett, 83, of Athens was Sept. 29 at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Windell Shirley officiating.

Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Gossett died Sept. 26, 2000, at his home. He was born July 17, 1917, in Stevenson to Major Franklin Gossett and Eliza Jane Arnold Gossett. He was a member of the Sandlin Road Church of the Nazarene. He was a retired paint contractor.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gossett; two sons, Billy Gossett and Robert Gossett, both of Athens; one daughter, Linda Kelley of Athens; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandchildren and nephews.

Jessie Trousdale Haygood
83, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Jessie Trousdale Haygood, 83, of Athens, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cherry Grove Baptist Church with Jessie Littrell and Randy Carter officiating.

Burial will be in Evans Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the funeral service.

Mrs. Haygood died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Feb. 19, 1917, in Lauderdale County. She was a homemaker and a member of Hobbs Street Church of Christ. She was the mother of the late Jimmy Haygood.

Survivors include one son, Alton "Red" Haygood of Rogersville; five daughters, Rebecca "Dell" Bryant of Elkmont, Jane Word of Minor Hill, Tenn., and Martha Gibson, Cynthia Haygood and Emma Hargrove, all of Athens; one brother, Felix Trousdale of Athens; three sisters, Ruby Aregood of Cherry Hill, N.J., Francis Simpson of Florence and Nellie Mae Montgomery of Athens; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.
