Opal Nickelson McVay

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Opal Nickelson McVay, 66, of Huntsville will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Maynard officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McVay died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, in Decatur. She was born June 29, 1934, in Jackson County. A lifelong resident of Madison County, she was a homemaker, a member of College Park Church of God and attended Oak Park Church of God.

Survivors include one son, Barney Nickelson of Huntsville; two daughters, Brenda Morris of Huntsville and Dixie Tyler of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Misti McVay of Huntsville; one brother, Charles Lusk of Huntsville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice.

Malcolm Ray Montgomery
78, pipefitter

MOULTON -- Funeral for Malcolm Ray Montgomery, 78, of Moulton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Old Town Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Teague and the Rev. R.C. Borden officiating.

Burial will be in Landersville Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Montgomery died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at HealthSouth Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born June 30, 1922, in Lawrence County to Posey Montgomery and Ola Berryman Montgomery. He was a pipefitter and a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 377 for 49 years; he was business agent for the local one term.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Woodruff Montgomery; two daughters, Marla Montgomery Smith of Oneonta and Beth Montgomery Woodruff of Eva; one brother, Ford Montgomery of Yuma, Ariz.; one sister, Frances Noreen Chesnutt of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roger Craig, Johnny Levert Riggs, Doug Anderton, Larry Kimbrough, Doug Kimbrough and Danny Russell.

Charter members of Old Town Creek Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Old Town Creek Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Dovie Irene Reels
78, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Dovie Irene Reels, 78, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Jessie Littrell and Eddie Gooch officiating.

Burial will be Mitchell Cemetery in Anderson. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Reels died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Lauderdale County. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Willie G. Reels.

Survivors include nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Roger Ridgeway, Ray Ridgeway, Byron Lemay, Randall Smith, Harold Smith and Michael Lemay.

Naomi Evelyn Styles
93, homemaker

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Naomi Evelyn Styles, 93, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home with Guy Hunt officiating.

Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight at 6 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Styles died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born March 25, 1907, in Texarkana, Texas to Walter and Beulah White. She was a retired schoolteacher and saleswoman.

Survivors include one son, Douglas Styles of Eva; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Colbie Lamar Jones

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -- Funeral arrangements for infant Colbie Lamar Jones of Brooksville will be announced by Turner Funeral and Cremation Center in Spring Hill, Fla.

The infant died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital in Brooksville.

Survivors include his parents, Dwayne L. and Sonia L. Jones of Brooksville; his grandparents, Wanda E. Thomas of Hatton, Dwayne Lamar Jones Sr. of Lawrence County, and Matte Faye King and Jimmy Lee King of Town Creek; and his step-grandfather, Danny Thomas of Hatton.

Margie Rose Looney
65, business owner

ATHENS -- Funeral for Margie Rose Looney, 65, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Dr. Steven Screws and Dr. Carl Evans officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Looney died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at her home. She was born Nov. 28, 1934, in Athens. She was a master flower gardener, a member of First United Methodist Church of Athens and former owner of Country Girl Shop, which she operated for 25 years.

Survivors include her husband, Milton A. Looney; one daughter, Leigh Ann Looney of Huntsville; two brothers, George Rose and Griggs Rose, both of Athens; and two sisters, Gloria Smith of Athens and June Street of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be George Rose, Griggs Rose, Lowell Smith, Oliver Street, Tom Collier and Andy Collier.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist of Athens or Hospice of Limestone County.

Dianna Lee Carlton Morris
51, state retiree

Funeral for Dianna Lee Carlton Morris, 51, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Benny Reynolds officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Morris died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Shelbyville, Tenn. A lifelong resident of Decatur, she was retired from Alabama Children's Rehabilitation and was a member of Decatur Baptist Church. She was mother of the late Jimmy Lee Morris.

Survivors include her husband, Phillip Morris; two daughters, Rhonda Michelle Walker and Christina Marie Morris, both of Decatur; one brother, Bobby Carlton of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Betty Lou McCormick and Susie Dameron, both of Tullahoma, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Byron Elmore, Jeff Dameron, Jaie Dameron, Matt Morris, Jerald Weems and Tony Buckner.

Lillie B. Vinson

RUSSELLVILLE -- Funeral for Lillie B. Vinson, 97, of Russellville, formerly of Mount Hope, will be today at 2 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home with Jerome Sherrill officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Vinson died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 16, 1903, in Franklin County. She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was the widow of J.S. Vinson and the mother of the late Odell Vinson, Tommie Vinson and Hosea Vinson.

Survivors include two sons, Willard Vinson of Dearing, Ga., and Bobby Vinson of Niceville, Fla.; four daughters, Elsie Hovater of Satsuma, Angie Hargett of Haleyville, Ella Hill of Russellville and Jackie Lamon of Priceville; one sister, Luner Barkley of Clanton; 27 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Marie L. Walker
76, preschool worker

Funeral for Marie L. Walker, 76, of Decatur will be Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Evans officiating.

Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery with Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Walker died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Sept. 29, 1924, in Giles County, Tenn., to Frank Edd Lewter and Emmie Holman Lewter. She had been a preschool teacher at Parkview Baptist Church, where she was active in the church nursery program for 41 years. She was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary No. 4185 and was retired from Blue Bell Packing Co., where she worked for 30 years.

Survivors include one son, Pete Walker of Port Richey, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy Morgan and Brenda Lewis, both of Decatur; one brother, Donnie Lewter of Ardmore; two sisters, Connie Lyle of Huntsville and Louise Thomas of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Scooter Sanderson, Bryan Askew, Lynn Bell, Hank Little, Jason Claborn and Dan Lamar.

Deacons of Parkview Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

Larry James Williams
63, business owner

FOLEY -- Private service for Larry James Williams, 63, of Decatur will be arranged by his family with Pine Rest Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley. He was a graduate of the University of North Alabama, a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur and former chief executive officer of Decatur Transit Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Virginia Williams of Decatur; one son, William James Williams of Decatur; two daughters, Mary Virginia "Ginnie" Holman of Monticello, Ky., and Deborah Ann "Deb Ann" Jackson of Decatur; two sisters, Irene Cunningham and Misha Gasaway, both of Decatur; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Alabama Sheriffs' Youth Ranch of Morgan County, 165 Ranch Circle, Danville, AL 35619.

Lester Virgil Green e
73, retired business owner
VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Funeral for Lester Virgil Green e, 73, of Rome, Ga., will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home with Marvin Green e officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home in Rome, which is handling local arrangements. The body will be taken to Carson McLane Funeral Home on Tuesday, where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 to 9.

Mr. Green e died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at his home. He was born March 5, 1927, in Valdosta to Harvey Virgil Green e and Beulah Harpe Green e. He had lived in Rome and Floyd County since 1968, when he purchased Chidsey & Schroeder Food Distributors. He eventually sold the business to Massey & Fair Brokers of Atlanta, with which he was associated until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Johnson Green e, to whom he was married for more than 49 years; two sons, Scott Green e and Paul Green e, both of Rome; two daughters, Janet Burrell of Decatur and Annette Baker of Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Rudene Harris of Valdosta; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1183, Rome, GA 30162-1183.

Myrtle Ozell Kirk
86, retired nurse's aide

ATHENS -- Funeral for Myrtle Ozell Kirk, 86, of Selma will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Raymond Bush and Brady Lane officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kirk died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at her home. She was born April 26, 1914, in Limestone County. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a nurse's aide retired from Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Survivors include one son, Maurice Wayne Kirk of Athens; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Kirk, Andrew Kirk, Jerry Hammons, Mark Tuck, Wade Shannon and Lynn Persell.
