Lucy Fitzgerald Laney

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Lucy Fitzgerald Laney, 88, of Falkville will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Henderson and the Rev. Jimmy Legg officiating.

Burial will be in Herring Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Laney died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at her home. She was born Sept. 24, 1912, in Morgan County to Frank Woods Fitzgerald and Bertie Cornelia Almon Fitzgerald. She was a bookkeeper at Gordon and Laney Gin Company and a homemaker. She was a member of Cedar Plains Christian Church and a member of the Massey Homemakers Club. She was the widow of Vadie C. Laney and sister of the late Almon Fitzgerald and Robert Henry Fitzgerald.

Survivors include two sons, Hal Laney of Danville and Arwin Laney of Falkville; one daughter, Betty Laney Johnson of Hartselle; two brothers, Patrick Dale Fitzgerald of Hernando, Miss., and Ashton Fitzgerald of Falkville; four sisters, Leah Fitzgerald Oakley of Decatur, Frances Fitzgerald Laney, Janie Mae Fitzgerald Holmes and Bertie "Bill" Fitzgerald Ferrell, all of Falkville; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Keith Johnson, Kent Johnson, Tim Laney, Chris Grant, Len Williamson and Glenn Jolley.

Jeremiah Matthews
90, retired TVA construction worker

TALUCAH -- Funeral for Jeremiah Matthews, 90, of Valhermoso Springs, will be Wednesday at noon at Mount Mariah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Calvin Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Draper-Chatman Cemetery in Talucah with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Mr. Matthews died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at his home. He was born June 27, 1910, in Talucah. He was a retired TVA construction worker and the godfather of Mollie Stewart of Talucah.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Draper of Huntsville and Charlie Weeden of Columbia, Tenn.; and one sister, Idella Stevens of Stevenson.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Lizzie Baker Mosley

Funeral for Lizzie Baker Mosley, 91, of Decatur, will be Wednesday at noon at Sharpley Funeral Home with the Rev. Maxidale Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Sykes Cemetery.

Mrs. Baker died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at West Morgan Health Care Center. She was born March 31, 1909, in Lawrence County to Jim Baker and Mary Baker. She was the sister of the late Ulice Baker, Roy Baker, Tiller Baker and Mable Baker Clack.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

John Benjamin Sherrod
70, mailroom worker

Graveside service for John Benjamin Sherrod, 70, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Sanderson officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until time for services.

Mr. Sherrod died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at his home. He was born June 1, 1930, in Morgan County to John Elbert Sherrod and Edna Poole Sherrod. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was employed as a mailroom worker at SouthTrust Bank.

Survivors include his wife, Sumang K. Sherrod; two sons, Walter M. Sherrod of Orlando, Fla., and John W. Sherrod of Decatur; three daughters, Edna S. Griffith of Hartselle, Charla S. VanderBerg of Orlando, Fla., and Kimberly A. Sherrod of Decatur; one brother, Willard Sherrod of Athens; one sister, Priscilla S. Ruffing of Seattle; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Williamson, Brad Strom, Michael Sharp, Stephen Eichenberger, Jeff Hartsfield and Billy Joe Doran III.

Lera Mae Williford

FLORENCE -- Funeral for Lera Mae Williford, 87, of Florence, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Ralph Stout officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Williford died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. She was born April 2, 1913, in Pulaski, Tenn. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur and the widow of L. Homer Williford.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Nancy Howard Walker of Olympia, Wash., Sylvia Howard Nigliazzo of Mount Prospect, Ill., and Leara Bess Howard Adair of Milwaukee, Wis.; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Stelan Keith Frazier
Infant

ATHENS -- Funeral for Stelan Keith Frazier, 3-weeks, of Athens will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Stan Kiefer officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church.

He died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. He was born Oct. 28, 2000.

Survivors include his father, John Edward Frazier of Athens; his mother, Tracy Overton of Athens; a half-sister, Katlin Elizabeth Frazier of Athens; his grandparents, Edna May Kelley of Athens and Rick and Wanda Bretherick of Athens; his great-grandparents, Willie and Marjorie Overton of Athens and Thurston and Corrine Frazier of Killen.

Elvira Glover
86, retired cosmetologist

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Elvira Glover, 86, of Toney, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Glover officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Glover died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at a local nursing home. She was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Petersburg, Ill. She was retired as a cosmetologist and was the widow of Otis Houston Glover.

Survivors include one son, the Rev. Douglas Glover of Toney; one grandson; and six step grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Charismatic Episcopal Church, 3201 Triana Blvd, Huntsville, Ala 35805.

Martha Lou Glover Moultrie
95, seamstress

MOULTON -- Funeral for Martha Lou Glover Moultrie, 95, of Moulton will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Hale and the Rev. Keith Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moultrie died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at National Health Care in Moulton. She was born Jan. 17, 1905, in Winston County. She was retired as a seamstress with G. C. Lingerie. Mrs. Moultrie was the widow of Hillard Moultrie and the mother of the late Wendrell Moultrie.

Survivors include one son, Therrol Gene Moultrie of Moulton; one brother, Willie Glover of Moulton; three sisters, Pearlie Smothers of Double Springs, Purnell Hagood of Virginia Beach, Va. and Essie B. Pierce of Trinity; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Victoria Mandell
35, receptionist

HAZEL GREEN -- Memorial service for Victoria Mandell, 35, of Athens will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Athens with the Rev. James Harris officiating and Gallant Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Mandell died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at her home after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 14, 1964, in Norfolk, Va., and was a receptionist at Microsoft Labs in Norfolk.

Survivors include one daughter, Mara Victoria Mandell of Athens; her father and stepmother, Keith Wyche Bennett and Therese Bennett of Hagerstown, Md.; her mother and stepfather, Veronica and Billy Joe McDaniel of Athens; one brother, Mark Douglas Bennett of Virginia Beach, Va.

Memorials may be made to a fund established for her daughter, Mara, at Redstone Federal Credit Union, 220, Wynn Drive, Huntsville, Ala 35893.

Evelyn Casteel 'Polly' Dye
78, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Evelyn Casteel "Polly" Dye, 78, of Athens will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Carl Witty officiating.

Burial will be in Lentzville Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dye died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at her home. She was born June 6, 1922, in Limestone County to Kyle and Lela Casteel. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was the widow of Gladstone Dye and the sister of the late Effie Marie Casteel.

Survivors include four brothers, Melvin Casteel, Johnny Casteel and Jimmy Casteel, all of Athens, and Buddy Casteel of Nashville; and three sisters, Mary Blankenship and Shirley Black, both of Athens, and Edna Dildine of Monrovia, Ind.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Millie Johnson Evans
64, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Millie Johnson Evans, 64, of Falkville will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Smith and the Rev. Billy Gable officiating.

Burial will be in Powell's Chapel Cemetery south of Falkville. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Evans died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born June 20, 1936, in Limestone County to Percy Leon Johnson and Lillian Smith Johnson. She was a homemaker. She was the mother of the late Joe Howard Evans.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph S. Evans; two sons, Phillip Wayne Evans and Michael Ray Evans, both of Falkville; one daughter, Jan Denise Hopkins of Hartselle; one sister, Mavis Gray of Falkville; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John William Brown III, Paul Burnside, Charles Crowell Jr., Wayne Goggins, Albert Molzof and Larry Don Smith.

Lillie Mae 'Bill' Garrett
79, former restaurant owner

Funeral for Lillie Mae "Bill" Garrett, 79, of Decatur will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Garrett died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Aug. 15, 1921, in Morgan County to Aaron and Myrtle Oden. She was former owner of Luigi's Grill on Fifth Avenue Southwest and a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Garrett; four daughters, Judy Carr, Nancy Smith and Cheri Roper, all of Decatur, and Nina Holt of Hartselle; two sisters, Ilean Moore and Flossie Ponter, both of Decatur; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ben Drinkard, Gary Drinkard, Thurman Garrett, Ellis Garrett, Tim Moore and Barney Pate.

Jody Trampas Gladden
32, roofer

ATHENS -- Funeral for Jody Trampas Gladden, 32, of Ardmore, Tenn., will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. David Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Gladden died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1968, in Athens to Clyde Winston Gladden and Janice Biggs Jackson. He was a roofer.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Thompson; two sons, Jesse Garrett Gladden of Ardmore and Toney Carl Gladden of Ardmore, Tenn.; one daughter, Hannah Marie Gladden of Ardmore; one stepdaughter, Kassie Kashea Aldridge of Ardmore, Tenn.; his father of Ardmore, Tenn.; his mother of Athens; and one sister, Doris Marie Eubanks of Athens.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
