Gurstle L. Rogers

Funeral arrangements for Gurstle L. Rogers, 75, of Decatur, who died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center, will be announced by Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.

Herschel Terry
69, bus driver

TRINITY -- Funeral for Herschel Terry, 69, of Moulton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Boling, the Rev. Willie Delashaw and the Rev. Robert Sanderson officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Terry died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Dec. 10, 1930, in Lawrence County to Worthy Terry and Jesmer Terry. He was retired as a press operator from Wolverine Tube and was employed as a bus driver with Lawrence County Public Transportation.

Survivors include two sons, Lynn Terry of Frankfort, Ky., and Donald Terry of Decatur; two daughters, Sharron Terry of Moulton and Rae Jean Swader of Decatur; his mother, of Moulton; one brother, Billy Dwight Terry of Moulton; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Morgan, Daniel Terry, Scott Terry, Greg Terry, Bradley Cross, Jeff Terry and Randy Moultrie.

Members of S&H Hunting Club will be honorary pallbearers.

Pearl Addie Terry
87, homemaker

PAW PAW, MICH. -- Funeral for Pearl Addie Terry, 87, of Paw Paw will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Betzler & Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Preston Porter officiating.

Burial will be in Wildey Cemetery in Paw Paw. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Terry died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Borgess Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Moulton to Jimmy Terry and Dellie Terry Terry. She was reared on her family's farm in Moulton and was an avid gardener. She married Clyde Terry on Dec. 2. 1933, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Terry was the mother of the late infant Adeline Terry. She was the sister of the late Earl Terry, David Terry, Ellie Mae Terry, Maudie Terry and Versue Terry.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde Terry; two sons, Edmond Terry of Cullman and Marlow Terry of Paw Paw; two brothers, Charles Terry and Jamie Terry, both of Alabama; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Elmer McRee Wells
80, retired carpenter

HIRAM, Ga. -- Funeral for Elmer McRee Wells, 80, of Hiram was Friday at 2 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home with the Rev. John Pearrell and the Rev. Gene Hunt officiating.

Burial was in Kennesaw Memorial Park.

Mr. Wells died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at WellStar Paulding Nursing Center. He was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Decatur to Robert Leslie Wells and Mary Agnes McRee Wells. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters of Indiana. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Clera Wells; four daughters, Karen Barnett of Powder Springs, Ga., Melanie Fiacchino of Oak Park, Ill., Robin Martins of Dover, Ohio, and Myra Pearrell of Conyers, Ga.; one brother, Herschell Wells of Decatur; one sister, Nita Terry of Decatur; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Don Barnett, Kenneth Barnett, Joe Fiacchino, Tim Martins, Colin Pearrell and Bill Terry.

Marcus Anthony Blankenship

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Marcus Anthony Blankenship, an infant, will be today at 1 p.m. at New Hope North Cemetery with the Rev. Anthony Vinson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The infant was born and died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Tony and Jackie Blankenship of Falkville; one brother, Nicholas Blankenship of Falkville; his grandparents, Eugene and Becky Green of Falkville, Sam and Sara Blankenship of Falkville and Lynda Bailey of Cullman.

Arthur Talmadge "Ott" Busbey
80, retired steelworker

ARAB -- Funeral for Arthur Talmadge "Ott" Busbey, 80, of Joppa will be today at 2 p.m. at Hebron Church of Christ with Ronald Earwood and Ray Humphries officiating and Arab Memorial Chapel directing.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Busbey died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Marshall Medical Center North. He was born May 2, 1920, in Cullman County, to Scott Busbey and Janie Ramey Busbey. He was retired from Republic Steel as an ironworker and was a member of Hebron Church of Christ. Mr. Busbey also was a member of the Baileyton Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Busbey; two sons, Galen Busbey of Arab and John Busbey of Huntsville; one daughter, Patricia Hulsey of Lacey's Spring; one brother, Fred Lorance of Cullman; two sisters, Louise Forehand of Florida and Florence Binns of Georgia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Aubrey J. Dean
84, former John Blue Co. employee

HUNTSVILLE -- Graveside service for Aubrey J. Dean, 84, of Lacey's Spring will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lipscomb Cemetery in Lacey's Spring with the Rev. Jodi Bell officiating and Twickenham Funeral Home's South Parkway Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Dean died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at his home. He was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Jackson County and was formerly employed at the John Blue Co.

Survivors include his wife, Mary F. Dean; one daughter, Ann Bartee of Lacey's Spring; one sister, Vivian Wilson of Valhermosa Springs; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Lance E. Puckett
86, retired cook

Funeral for Lance E. Puckett, 86, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Williams and the Rev. James Toone officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Puckett died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at his home. He was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Morgan County, to Seburn Puckett and Cora Mae Puckett. He was retired as a cook and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Puckett was a member of VFW Post No. 4190.

Survivors include his wife, Gurthie Puckett; three sons, Eugene Puckett of Cherokee, Kenneth Puckett of Massey and Ernie Puckett of Gurley; three daughters, Brenda J. Hall of Hartselle, Gail Hufft of Pampa, Texas and Melissa Peterson of Athens; three sisters, Beatrice Ramey of Decatur, Lois Sparks of Dawagaic, Mich. and Flora Pitt of Athens; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Tran Griffin, James Hudgins, Roger Hagood, Tommy Vaughn, Bryan Hall, Melvin Griffin, Josh Hogan and Eugene Puckett Jr.

Claude Raney Jr.
77, retired farmer

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Claude Raney Jr., 77, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at Poplar Creek Cemetery with James Bridges officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Raney died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born in Limestone County where he was retired as a farmer. He also was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Survivors include five brothers, Luie Raney of Columbus, Ohio, Silas Raney of Louisville, Ky., Spears Raney of Garden City, Mich, Paul Raney and Ross Raney, both of Athens; two sisters, Mary Ola Shaheen of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Douglas Davis of Louisville, Ky.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery.

Mrs. Rogers died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Birmingham, to Lonnie Black and Lois Morris Black. She was retired from Austinville Elementary School and was a member of Austinville Baptist Church. Mrs. Rogers was the widow of Herman B. Rogers.

Survivors include one daughter, Martha Nell Hudgins of Decatur; five brothers, L. Greer Black, Morris C. Black and Joe Black, all of Decatur, the Rev. John Otha Black of Montgomery and Dr. L. Gene Black of Birmingham; one sister, Mary B. Houston of Sarasota, Fla.; four granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Nova Addie Shedd
89, homemaker

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Nova Addie Shedd, 89, of Vinemont will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Corinth West Methodist Church with the Rev. Glen Miller officiating and Moss Service Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Shedd died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Woodland Village Health Care Center. She was born July 24, 1911, in Morgan County to Mose W. Suite and Myrtie Collum Suite. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include four sons, James T. Shedd of Vinemont, Lonnie Rudolph Shedd and William A. Shedd, both of Cullman, and Vernon P. Shedd of Ludwig, Ill; two daughters, Barbara Roberts of Cullman and Madene Harris of Hartselle; one brother, Edward Suite of Morgan County; four sisters, Margaret Drinkard and Robbie McCorkle, both of Falkville, Mary McElwey of Cullman and Elise Aday of Eva; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

John Farley Stewart Sr.
84, retired aircraft mechanic

BAINBRIDGE, GA. -- Graveside service for John Farley Stewart Sr., 84, of Bainbridge will be today at 2 p.m. at Oak City Cemetery with the Rev. David Jarrett officiating and Ivey Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Stewert died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at his home. He was born July 3, 1916, in Decatur to Fred Burns Stewart and Lillian Lyle Farley Stewart. He was a 1934 graduate of Decatur High School and lived in Bainbridge for the past 51 years, where he was retired as an aircraft mechanic. Mr. Stewart was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bainbridge.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Dent Woodard Stewart; three sons, J. Farley Stewart Jr. of Opelika, William David Stewart of Clio and Thomas Julian Stewart of Panama City, Fla.; seven -grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral for Kenneth W. Teague, 63, of Danville will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Valley Grove Baptist Church at Speake with the Rev. Wayne Turner officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Teague died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1937, in Decatur, to Tennis Teague and Mattie Teague, and was the former owner and operator of Teague Quick Stop Muffler. He was also a computer operator for Decatur Transit and a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Fran Teague; three sons, Jimmy Teague, John Teague and Joel Teague, all of Decatur; two stepsons, William Gene Kennedy Jr. of Falkville and Jeffrey Dean Kennedy of Joppa; one stepdaughter, Teri Watson of Hartselle; his mother, Mattie Teague of Decatur; four brothers, Junior Teague of Fort Worth, Herbert Teague and Cleo Teague, both of Decatur, and Charles Teague of Priceville; two sisters, Fay Hughes of Decatur and Lounette Husk of Omaha.

Members of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 655 will be pallbearers.
