Willie Selner Smith
87, retired dairy worker

Funeral for Willie Selner Smith, 87, of Decatur will be today at 1 p.m. at Pentecostal House of Prayer with Andrew C. Strong and Thomas Strong officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Memorial Gardens with Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Smith died Dec. 23, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1913, in Lafayette County, Miss., to Samuel Smith and Mary Eliza Smith. He was a member of Bible Way Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Abbeville, Miss. He later joined the Pentecostal House of Prayer, where he was the church's oldest member. Before retiring, he worked for a dairy in Mississippi for 43 years. He was the father of the late Sylluster Smith and the widower of Betty L. Smith, who died in 1959, and Mattie C. Smith, who died in 1998.

Survivors include one son, Willie Smith of Decatur; four daughters, Lavada Strong of Decatur, Willie Mae Johnson of Toledo, Ohio, and Willie Mae Worthem and Iletta Kirk, both of Flint, Mich.; 36 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Strong, Barry Strong, Quincy Smith, Mike Smith, Gerald Smith and Maurice Worthem.

Charles Thomas Woodfin
81, laborer

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Charles Thomas Woodfin, 81, of Elkmont will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hodges Cemetery in Pettusville with the Rev. Steve Ferguson officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

He died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at his residence. He was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Limestone County to Audway Woodfin and Ola Hobbs Woodfin. He was a retired cotton gin worker and a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Woodfin of Elkmont; two sons, Ronnie Woodfin of Athens and Jeffrey Woodfin of Pulaski, Tenn.; four daughters, Peggy Hart, Charleen Turner and Angie Robinson, all of Elkmont, and Linda Faulk of Athens; one sister, Ruby Turner of Fayetteville, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Jessie Mae Baggett
72, retired school secretary
FLORENCE -- Funeral for Jessie Mae Baggett, 72, of Anderson will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery in Anderson. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Elkins East Chapel in Center Star.

Mrs. Baggett died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, in Lauderdale County. She was born Jan. 24, 1928, in Lauderdale County to James Thorn and Cora Thorn. She was a member of Grassy Baptist Church. She retired after being employed by the Lauderdale County Board of Education for more than 20 years as a secretary at Anderson Junior High School.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Eugene W. Baggett; three daughters, Connie Shelton, Margaret Howard and Beverly Scott, all of Anderson; two sons, R.D. "Doug" Williams and Lennie Williams, both of Anderson; and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Goodman, Ronald Killen, Scotty Smith, Terry White, Gerald Grigsby and Robert Earl Newton.

Louise Hobbs

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Louise Hobbs, 61, of Ardmore will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Taylor Ardmore Funeral Home with the Doug Eubanks and Jeff Mathis officiating.

Burial will be in Hasting Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hobbs died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was a member of Ardmore Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Hobbs; two sons, Rodney Hobbs and Steve Hobbs, both of Ardmore; one daughter, Tersa "Boo" Hobbs of Ardmore; two brothers, Ed Walker of Athens and Aubry Walker of Lakeland, Fla.; four sisters, Lorena Turner, Ovailee Pylant, Lorene Wells and Leona Blakely, all of Athens; and two granddaughters.

Harry J. Hornbuckle
90, retired business owner

Funeral for Harry J. Hornbuckle, 90, of Hartselle will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 2:30 to 3:30 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hornbuckle died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at National Health Care in Moulton. He was born May 30, 1910, in Madison County to Lee Hornbuckle and Birtie Moon Hornbuckle. He was the widower of Mildred Rich Hornbuckle. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Decatur. He served as a deacon and was a member of the senior choir. He established All-Wright Pastry Shop in 1946 and owned the business until he retired in 1975.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Allison and Bettye Hill, both of Decatur; one brother, Edgar Hornbuckle of Anaheim, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Richard Batchelor, Harold Holland, Gentry Steelman, Tom Pangle, Tom Ford, John Eyster, Ray Cox and R.C. Wilson.

Snooky Hairrell Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church.

Grace Regina Miller
85, seamstress

ATHENS -- Funeral for Grace Regina Miller, 85, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Wales officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Miller died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Athens Convalescent Center. She was born July 8, 1915, in Tennessee to John R. Reynolds and Elizabeth Shelby Reynolds. She was a seamstress. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens.

Survivors include two sons, Edd R. Miller of Ardmore, Tenn., and Ronald H. Miller of Athens; two daughters, Regina Compton of Athens and Mary Beth Appleton of Hiawassee, Ga.; one sister, Dorothy Strickland of Savannah, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tony Compton, John Coleman, Andrew Marks, Joey Clem and Wesley Totten.

Ann Newton
Retired secretary

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ann Newton of Hartselle will be today at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Father Joe Culotta officiating.

Burial will be in New Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 1 to 3 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Newton died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Ireland. She was the widow of James W. Newton Jr. She was a retired secretary for the city of Huntsville.

Survivors include one brother, Gus Murphy of Wales, United Kingdom; four sisters, Norrine Bond of Suisun City, Calif., Carmel Kelly of Wexford, Ireland, Tricia Cullen of Kildare, Ireland, and Pauline McKenna of Waterford, Ireland.

Mary L. Norman

HUNTSVILLE -- Graveside service for Mary L. Norman, 70, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lawrence Cove Cemetery in Eva with Otis Graves officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9 until noon at the funeral home.

Mrs. Norman died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary J. Froberg of Falkville.

Garnet Darrell Page
77, retired Air Force colonel

Funeral for Garnet Darrell Page, 77, of Kentucky and formerly of Falkville, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. A. Ray Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 to 1 at the funeral home.

Mr. Page died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Britthaven Nursing Home in Benton, Ky. He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Holland Park, Mich., to Wesley Page and Rhoda Harrison Page. He was a retired Air Force colonel and a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in Falkville. He was the widower of Dorothy Strickland Page.

Survivors include one sister, Faira Alexander of Murray, Ky.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hughes, Jim O'Hara, Charlie Florence and Dr. Bob Sittason.

Samuel Robinson
78, Wolverine Tube retiree

Funeral for Samuel Robinson, 78, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Owens officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Calvary Memorial Garden Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mr. Robinson died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Lawrence County to Richard Robinson and Vinnie Birdsong Robinson. He was a graduate of Decatur Negro High School. He retired from Wolverine Tube in Decatur. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the adult choir, male chorus, adult Sunday school class and Christian fellowship. He was a World War II United States Army veteran.

Survivors include three sons; Rev. James Robinson and William Robinson, both of Decatur, and Leonard Robinson of Brentwood, Tenn.; two daughters, Madeline Robinson and Lisa Russell, both of Decatur; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Officers of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church will be pallbearers.

Ronald Glenn Sanders
52, retired Marine first sergeant

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ronald Glenn Sanders, 52, of Athens will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. James Adams officiating.

Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Sanders died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Athens Limestone Hospital. He was born Feb. 16, 1948, in Decatur to Glenn Sanders and Margaret Sanders. He retired with 23 years of service from the United States Marines as a first sergeant. He was a member of Salem Springs Baptist Church. He worked at Athens Motors for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Ann Sanders; one son, Timothy James Sanders of Athens; one brother, Kenneth Dwight Sanders of Fyffe; one granddaughter.

Andrew 'Andy' Max Shipp
54, rodeo worker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Andrew "Andy" Max Shipp, 54, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.

Mr. Shipp died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, in Nashville. He was born April 7, 1946, in Limestone County to Max Shipp and Florence Shipp. He attended the Methodist church and worked many years as a rodeo clown.

Survivors include one daughter, Robin Morgan of Baton Rouge, La.; one son, Kevin Shipp of New Orleans; and one sister, Barbara Williams of Athens.

Pallbearers will be Carlos Shannon, Gary Williams, Paul Brown, Jim Graham and Mickey Elkins.

John A. Weaver

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for John A. Weaver, 73, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Weaver died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center.

Further arrangements will be announced by the funeral home.
