Flora Mae Hill Speegle
62, Prestolite retiree

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Flora Mae Hill Speegle, 62, of Hartselle will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Coleman Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Speegle died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at her home. She was born May 19, 1938, in Cullman County to Grady A. Hill and Alma Scott Hill. She was a member of Flint Baptist Church. She was retired from Prestolite in Decatur, where she worked in production for 35 years.

Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Paul Speegle; and two brothers, Fred Hill of Jacksonville and Thurmen Hill of Arab.

Cousins will be pallbearers.

Frank Carmon Vest
81, U.S. Army retiree

CAMILLA, Ga. -- A military funeral for Frank Carmon Vest, 81, of Camilla was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Timmons Funeral Home with the Rev. Claxton Mills and the Rev. Harold Pullen officiating.

Burial was in Hopeful Church Cemetery.

Mr. Vest died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, Ga. He was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Hartselle to William Bryd Vest and Mamie Pannell Vest. He retired from the U.S. Army and was a member of Big Ochlocknee Church. He was the father of the late Mamie Vest.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Vest; five sons, Victor Vest of New Orleans, Doug Vest of Florida, Frank Vest Jr., of Enterprise, Michael Vest of Camilla and Phillip Vest of Oshkosh, Wis.; one daughter, Wanda Sample of Oshkosh, Wis.; three sisters, Freida Betterton and Reba Swinford, both of Hartselle, and Katie Hill of Alabaster; two stepchildren, Marie Taylor of Thomasville, Ga., and Julian Reynolds of Boston, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Anne Brown
94, homemaker
Graveside service for Elizabeth Anne Brown, 94, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Culotta officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation for Decatur. She was born Feb. 3, 1907, in Decatur to Eugene Strong Morrow and Almande Boucher Morrow. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was the widow of Lewis Carlton "Pinky" Brown.

Survivors include two daughters, Gene Brown Wasmer of High Point, N.C., and Carlton Brown Rogers of Decatur; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church building fund or Hospice of the Valley.

Carrie Cox
91, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Carrie Scoggin Cox, 91, of Town Creek will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Town Creek with the Rev. Mark Wakefield and the Rev. Milton Burks officiating.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Cox died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at National Health Care in Moulton. She was born May 9, 1909, in Town Creek to Nick D. Scoggin and Etta Scoggin. She was a homemaker and the widow of Odus Cox.

Survivors include two sisters, Eula Waldrep and Edna Prince, both of Town Creek.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Nell Marie Gilchrist
79, aircraft supervisor

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Nell Marie Gilchrist, 79, of Pleasant Grove will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry DeBell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Gilchrist died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. She was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Morgan County to Kyle Gilchrist and Bessie Echols Gilchrist. She was retired as a supervisor at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham.

Survivors include one sister, Haze Gilchrist Carter of Section.

William Haskin Hicklen
79, refrigerator assembler

ARDMORE -- Funeral for William Haskin Hicklen, 79, of Taft, Tenn., will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Rev. William Suddarth officiating.

Burial will be in Blanche Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hicklen died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Ardmore, Tenn., to Emitt and Laura Hicklen. He retired after 25 years as an assembler with Amana Refrigeration in Fayetteville, Tenn. He was a member of Cash Pointe Baptist Church for 64 years and Woodmen of the World.

Survivors include two sons, James Donald Hicklen of Hubert, N.C., and William Carroll Hicklen of Taft; three daughters, Reba Laughlin of Norcross, Ga., Anna Joan Vindett and Vickie Hicklen Gleason, both of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Verona Slaton of Appleville; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Bobby Dale Holder
15, student

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Bobby Dale Holder, 15, of Elkmont will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Holder died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born July 27, 1985, in Tennessee to Randy Mills and Margaret Dianne Holder. He was an eighth-grade student at Elkmont High School and loved to ride horses, dirt bikes, knee boards and wake boards. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his father, Randy Mills of Petersburg, Tenn.; his mother and stepfather, Dianne and Kevin McClarnon of Elkmont; one brother, Randy Mills Jr. of Petersburg; one sister, Kristina McClarnon of Elkmont; and his grandparents, Mary Waid of Fayetteville, Tenn., and Howard and Jan McClarnon of Braddyville, Ind.

Margaret Jackson
85, retired postmaster

ATHENS -- Funeral for Margaret Jackson, 85, of Lester will be today at 2 p.m. at Hester's Chapel Church of Christ with Randall Robertson and Leslie Bagsby officiating.

Burial will be in Hester Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Jackson died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at her home. She was born June 26, 1915, in Giles County, Tenn. She was retired as postmaster of the Lester post office and was a member of Hester's Chapel Church of Christ. She was the widow of Lester Jackson and the mother of the late Ann Stanford.

Survivors include one son, Dan Jackson of Lester; one daughter, Sue Carwile of Athens; three sisters, Bertha Lee Odneal of Pulaski, Tenn., Elizabeth Norwood of Minor Hill, Tenn., and Evelyn Davis of Melbourne, Fla.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Robert 'Don' Lively
63, GE control operator

Graveside service for Robert "Don" Lively, 63, of Decatur will be today at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Evans officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Lively died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham. He was born Dec. 7, 1937, in Morgan County to Robert L. Lively and Pauline Wilks Lively. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and retired from General Electric after 15 years of service as a control operator.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Lively; one son, Mike Lively of Dallas; two daughters, Pam Borgschulte of Atlanta and Leigh-Ann Hill of Decatur; and three grandchildren.

Andrew Jackson Pannell
84, retired carpenter

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Andrew Jackson Pannell, 84, of Guntersville will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Nelson Hollow Cemetery in Somerville. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Pannell died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Morgan County to Allen Pannell and Kate Nelson Pannell. A longtime resident of Omaha, Neb., he was a retired carpenter and a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Andrew Pannell of Phoenix and Lawrence "Larry" Pannell of Bellevue, Neb.; three daughters, Kathleen Pannell of Guntersville, Marcelline Wilson and Linda Sue Roberts, both of Omaha; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Pannell, Tim Wright, Jeff Pannell, James Callahan, Lynn Callahan and Mark Callahan.

Inez Christena Ready
75, retired auditor

Funeral for Inez Christena Ready, 75, of Trinity will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Standridge officiating.

Burial will be in Caddo Cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home from noon until the service.

Mrs. Ready died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at her home. She was born April 23, 1925, in Jeffersonville, Ind., to Rueben Oliver Killgore and Velvie McDougle Killgore. She was retired as an auditor with G.C. Murphy's and was the brother of the late Marion Killgore.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Ready and Mickey Ready, both of Trinity, and Ronnie Ready of Greenville, S.C.; three brothers, Travis Killgore and Frank Killgore, both of Orlando, Fla., and Roy Killgore of Georgia; five sisters, Martha Lou Perritti of Pine Island, Fla., Mildred Florence and Della Dorsey, both of Georgia, and Colleen Sharp and Ruby Gary, both of Orlando; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Ready Sr., Mickey Ready, Ronnie Ready Jr., Mark Ready, Timmy Ready and Chris Ready.

James William Stokes
34, cutter

TRINITY -- Funeral for James William Stokes, 34, of Trinity will be today at 1 p.m. at Caddo Congregational Church with the Rev. Greg Standridge officiating.

Burial will be in Caddo Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Stokes died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at his home. He was born May 17, 1966, in Cushing, Okla., to Robert Williams Stokes and Wanda Jean Rich Stokes. He worked as a cutter for Buford Lewis Printing in Nashville and for Robert J. Young. Hershel L. Nelms of Trinity was his caregiver.

Survivors include one daughter, Kaitlyn Michelle Stokes of Collinsville, Okla.; his father of Oilton, Okla.; two brothers, John Wayne Stokes and Paul Eugene Stokes, both of Oilton; three sisters, Debbie Jean Reece and Rita Carol Cochran, both of Oilton, and Sarah Louise Lorett of Yale, Okla.

Pallbearers will be Starbuck Cochran, Steve Reece, Michael Johnson, Chris Nelms, Kevin Nelms and Paul Stokes.

Valerie A. Tabor
76, nurse's aide

THIBODAUX, La. -- Funeral for Valerie A. Tabor, 76, of Thibodaux will be today at 11 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with Thibodaux Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Tabor died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Thibodaux Regional Hospital. She was born March 27, 1924, in Chackbay, La., to Felix Adams and Lenora Oncale Adams. She was a nurse's aide. She was the sister of the late Gilbert Adams, Joseph Adams, John Adams, Alfred Ernest Adams, Paul Adams, Rose Gilfour, Mathilda Gilfour and Marie Allmen.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Tabor; two sons, Berthon Aucoin and Gerald Aucoin; two daughters, Ann Percle of Decatur and Lola Gilmore; one stepdaughter, Bernice Knight; one brother; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Monastery, P.O. Box 488, Cullman, AL 35056.
