ATHENS -- Funeral for Robert Brent Wales, 24, of Madison will be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Taylor officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until the service.

Mr. Wales died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born April 16, 1976, to Jerry Wales and Sheila Wilson Wales. He graduated from Bob Jones High School and was an accomplished guitarist. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after six months. He was the grandson of the late Robert B. Wales.

Survivors include one son, Michael James Wales of Statesville, N.C.; one stepson, Matthew Howington of Statesville; his father of Madison; his mother and stepfather, Sheila and Calvin Zills of Prospect, Tenn.; one stepbrother, Josh Zills of Prospect; and his grandparents, Claude Wilson of Florence, and Gertie Hannah and Ethel Wales, both of Athens.

William Howard Woods
88, farmer

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for William Howard Woods, 88, of Cullman will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Simmons and the Rev. Ellis Leverette officiating.

Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Woods died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Morgan County to William Earnest Woods and Laura Ethel Sandlin Woods. He was retired as a farmer and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served tours of duty in Germany, Belgium, Africa and France as a mechanic. He earned the Army Occupation medal, the Victory of World War medal, the Good Conduct medal, the American Defense Service medal and medals for campaigns in Africa. He was the widower of Juanita Goodwin Woods and brother of the late Lauvern Higdon and Sara Wilhite.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Humphrey of Leavenworth, Kan.; two daughters, Joannie Woods Bowen of Decatur and Janice Woods Looney of Falkville; one brother, Harold Gene Woods of Vista, Calif.; one sister, Altha Woods of Cullman; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Wilhite, Onnie Wilhite, Ed Higdon, Terry Higdon, Kenneth Phillips and Jimmy Woods.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cullman County.

Bonnie Gaynell Earwood
71, homemaker

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Bonnie Gaynell Earwood, 71, of Gum Pond will be today at 2 p.m. at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home with Ronald Earwood and Ray Humphries officiating.

Burial will be in Hebron Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mrs. Earwood died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at her home. She was born April 11, 1929, in Morgan County to John Humphries and Henrietta Cranford Humphries. A homemaker, she was the mother of the late Billy Jack Earwood and sister of the late Charles Humphries and Billie Benefield.

Survivors include four sons, Bobby Earwood and Clayton Earwood, both of Eva, Brant Earwood of Baileyton and Derrick Earwood of Gum Pond; two brothers, Miles Humphries of Baileyton and John Humphries Jr. of Fairview; three sisters, Nita Burnett of Pinson, Patsey Brazelton of Arab and Jean Humphries of Fairview; nine grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Emory Jackson 'Jack' Earwood
72, retired farmer

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Emory Jackson "Jack" Earwood, 72, of Gum Pond will be today at 2 p.m. at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home with Ronald Earwood and Ray Humphries officiating.

Burial will be in Hebron Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mr. Earwood died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at his home. He was born April 14, 1928, in Marshall County to Hugh Earwood and Myrtle Green Earwood. A retired farmer, he was the father of the late Billy Jack Earwood and brother of the late Windom Earwood and Emmanola Earwood.

Survivors include four sons, Bobby Earwood and Clayton Earwood, both of Eva, Brant Earwood of Baileyton and Derrick Earwood of Gum Pond; two brothers, Hugo Earwood of Baileyton and Tommy Earwood of Somerville; four sisters, Marion Minor of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Judy Gibbs of Cullman, Gracie Strohl of Terre Haute, Ind., and Martha Baggett of Hartselle; nine grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Cora Elizabeth Slaten Turner Foshee
84, homemaker

COLUMBIA, Tenn. -- Funeral for Cora Elizabeth Slaten Turner Foshee, 84, of Columbia will be today at 2 p.m. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Adair and Roger Peters officiating.

Graveside service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.

Mrs. Foshee died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in Franklin, Tenn. She was born Nov. 14, 1916, in Morgan County to C.R. Slaten and Susie Halbrooks Slaten. She was a homemaker and lived in Giles County, Tenn., for 27 years before moving to Maury County, Tenn. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She was the widow of Hershel S. Turner, who died in 1941, and Willie Winford Foshee, who died in 1995. She was the sister of the late Howard Slaten, Huie Slaten and Mammie Wallace.

Survivors include one son, H. Glenn Turner of Antioch, Tenn.; three daughters, Ann Turner Starr of Hartselle, Martha Pfeil of Nashville and Cynthia Stewart of Columbia; three brothers, Newtz Slaten of Vinemont, James Slaten of Decatur and Charles Slaten of Somerville; five sisters, Nan Whaley, Mary Bennett and Betty McCarley, all of Decatur, Helen Thomas of Somerville and Katherine Lilback of Fairport, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Members of the Sunshine Class at Highland Park Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Highland Park Baptist Church of Columbia.

Helen Sarah Jane Veal Graham

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Helen Sarah Jane Veal Graham, 72, of Cullman will be today at 2 p.m. at Seventh Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Veal and the Rev. Steve Britt officiating.

Burial will be in Cullman Memory Gardens with Cullman Heritage Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Graham died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Cullman County to Thomas Benjamin Veal and Perlie Armittie Edmonson Rhinehart Veal. A homemaker and gardener, she was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church, Baptist Women's Auxiliary and Native Plant Society.

Survivors include her husband, William Clyde Graham; two sons, Terry Lee Graham of Azle, Texas, and Steven Edward Graham of Kissimmee, Fla.; two brothers, Lester Dilmus "L.D." Veal of Cullman and Thomas Nello Veal of Birmingham; one sister, Dorothy Ann Veal of Cullman; and five grandchildren.

Thomas Hicks Harris
93, repairman/funeral director

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. -- Funeral for Thomas Hicks Harris, 93, of Lawrenceburg will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home with Milton Eckhart and L. Butch Froyen officiating.

Burial will be in John Lay Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Harris died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski, Tenn. He was born Sept. 15, 1907, in Minor Hill, Tenn., to J.T. Harris and Lula Hicks Harris. A resident of Lawrenceburg since 1918, he was a member of Pulaski Street Church of Christ and was retired as a refrigerator repairman and funeral director. He was the father of the late Mamie L. Gray and brother of the late Charles Harris and Annie Tate Crosthwaite.

Survivors include his wife, Cordie Lorene Fuller Harris; two daughters, Macie L. Eckhart of Leoma, Tenn., and Helen H. Froyen of Weems, Va.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Eckhart, Eric Froyen, Jimmy Gray, Gary Edwards, Jerry Gray and Gene Hill.

Bonnie June Hicks

ATHENS -- Bonnie June Hicks, 22, of Athens died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in Huntsville. Spry Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Bobby Dale Holder, 15, of Elkmont will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Holder died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born July 27, 1985, in Tennessee to Randy Mills and Margaret Dianne Holder. He was an eighth-grade student at Elkmont High School and loved to ride horses, dirt bikes, knee boards and wake boards. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his father, Randy Mills of Petersburg, Tenn.; his mother and stepfather, Dianne and Kevin McClarnon of Elkmont; one brother, Randy Mills Jr. of Petersburg; one sister, Kristina McClarnon of Elkmont; and his grandparents, Mary Waid of Fayetteville, Tenn., Essie Mills of Petersburg, and Howard and Jan McClarnon of Braddyville, Ind.

Clara Belle Cole Montgomery

Mrs. Montgomery died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Morgan County to Charlie Lee Cole and Cora Ethel Hart Cole. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Joseph Horace Montgomery.

Survivors include six sons, Joe Montgomery of Decatur, Glenn Montgomery of Anniston, Gary Montgomery of Appleton, Wis., Charlie Montgomery and Cary Montgomery, both of Vinemont, and Mark Montgomery of Elbert, Colo.; five daughters, Darlene Montgomery Hale of Cullman, Marlene Montgomery Bradford of Vinemont, Gail Montgomery Hale of Hartselle, Bonnie Montgomery Heaven of Huntsville and Anita Montgomery Evatt of Irondale; two brothers, Elmer Yates of Tarrant and Fred Yates of Cullman; one sister, Martha Culver of Decatur; one stepsister, Mary Jeter of Gardendale; 28 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Owens died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1950, in Lawrence County to Huey Jackson Owens and Grace Owens. He owned BQ Insulation.

Survivors include two sons, Huey Wayne Owens Jr. and Jordon Blake Owens, both of Decatur; two daughters, Joyce Black and Margaret Head, both of Decatur; his mother of Decatur; two brothers, Jimmy Owens of Moulton and Gary Owens of Athens; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Terry, Anthony Black, Jimmy Owens Jr., Gary David Owens, Tommy Cammon and Mike Gillespie.

The infant died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at San Diego Naval Hospital. He was born Aug. 18, 2000, in California, to Michael J. Barr and Loraine A. Tymitz.

Survivors include his father of Vermont; his mother of San Diego; and his grandparents, Edward A. Tymitz of Harvest and Susan Duprey of Vermont.

Mrs. Casteel died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at her son's home. She was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Lawrence County, Tenn., to Jimmy and Mary Rose. She was a long-time Athens Wal-Mart employee, a member of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church and the widow of J.W. Casteel.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Casteel of Frisco, Texas, and Tony Casteel of Capshaw; three sisters, Ellon Pickett of Fayetteville, Tenn., and Josie Risner and Dot Smith, both of Pulaski, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Casteel, Todd Pickett, Brian Crane, Barry Risner, Ralph Smith and Stacey Smith.
