Billy Gene Clemons

HARTSELLE -- Billy Gene Clemons, 64, of Falkville died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Falkville Health Care Center.

He was born Oct. 17, 1936, in Morgan County to Patrick Clemons and Rudy Miller Clemons. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Billy Gene Clemons Jr., of Trinity; one daughter, Suzanne Wallace of Decatur; and two grandchildren.

Nettie Ruth Dement
64, former Redstone Arsenal Commissary employee

ATHENS -- Funeral for Nettie Ruth Dement, 64, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny McMullins and the Rev. Billy Schrimsher officiating.

Burial was to be in Athens City Cemetery.

Mrs. Dement died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Limestone County. She was a former employee at Redstone Arsenal Commissary and a member of First Union Baptist Church. She was an avid poem writer and songwriter.

Survivors include her husband, Sam "Doonie" Dement Jr.; two sons, Wayne Brandon Dement and Ricky Dement, both of Athens; one daughter, Jennifer Dement McCarver of Athens; two brothers, Carl Schrimsher and the Rev. Billy Schrimsher, both of Decatur; one sister, Ruby Jean Schrimsher Edge of Madison; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Deacons of First Union Baptist Church were to be pallbearers.

Huey Wayne Owens Sr.
50, insulation company owner

Funeral for Huey Wayne Owens Sr., 50, of Decatur was to be today at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Turner officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Owens died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1950, in Lawrence County to Huey Jackson Owens and Grace Owens. He owned BQ Insulation.

Survivors include two sons, Huey Wayne Owens Jr. and Jordon Blake Owens, both of Decatur; two daughters, Kim Smith and Lesha Phillips, both of Decatur; two brothers, Jimmy Owens of Moulton and Gary Owens of Athens; two sisters, Joyce Black and Margaret Head, both of Decatur; his mother of Decatur; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Michael Terry, Anthony Black, Jimmy Owens Jr., Gary David Owens, Tommy Cammon and Mike Gillespie.

James Randall 'Randy' Williams
33, electrician

WAVERLY, Tenn. -- Funeral for James Randall "Randy" Williams, 33, of Waverly will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Luff Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly with Andy Jarrett officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Williams died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly.

He was born March 31, 1967, in Waverly to Ronald Howard Williams and Diana Faye Pirtle Williams. He was an electrician for the Local 429 and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his father, Ronald Williams of Decatur; his mother, Diana Bowers of Waverly; one brother, Jeff Williams of Waverly; one sister, Jeneen Williams of Decatur; and his grandparents, Jesse "Dutch" Pirtle and Elizabeth Pirtle of Waverly.

Charles Louis Wilson Sr.
60, Athens City Utilities employee

ATHENS -- Funeral for Charles Louis Wilson Sr., 60, of Lester was to be today at 1 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Keenon and the Rev. Donald Terry officiating.

Burial was to be in Sardis Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 22, 1940, in Limestone County to Floyd Wilson and Mamie Wilson.

He worked for Athens City Utilities for 22 years and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Bethel Church of Christ. He was the widower of Judy Hargrove Wilson and the father of Hassie Renee Wilson.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Wilson Jr. and Marty Wilson, both of Lester; one daughter, Amanda Lee Siniard, of Lester; six brothers, Bobby Wilson of Bynum, Floyd Wilson of Selma and Tommie Wilson, Lonnie Wilson, Randy Wilson and Sandy Wilson, all of Athens; six sisters, Martha Lintz of Ohio, Margie Lee of Pensacola, Fla., Edith Salter of Bessemer, Betty Thornton of Ardmore, Peggy Taylor of Athens and Linda Hargrove of Harvest; one grandson; and two granddaughters.

Pallbearers were to be Keith Wilson, Rodney Wilson, Bradley Wilson, Travis Taylor, Scottie Taylor, Junior Thornton and James Wilson.

Robert Garland Blackwell
75, retired construction worker
ATHENS -- Graveside service for Robert Garland Blackwell, 75, of Athens was to be today at 10 a.m. at Faith Memorial Gardens on Alabama 20 in Madison with the Rev. Dusty McLemore officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Blackwell died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at Valley View Nursing Home in Madison. He was born June 5, 1925, in Elkmont to William Blackwell and Ella Elkins Blackwell. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired as a self-employed construction worker.

Survivors include one son, Mike Blackwell of Huntsville; two daughters, Ginger Blackwell of Naples, Fla., and Debbie Wilson of Panama City, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Miller, Syd Blackwell, Dustin Wilson, Billy Neal, Jerry Lawler and Cecil Ranson.

Courtney Bernard 'Sandy' Diamond
56, retired baggage handler

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Courtney Bernard "Sandy" Diamond, 56, of Valhermoso Springs will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church with the Rev. Melvin Brown and the Rev. Don Trosper officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Diamond died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, in Madison. He was born May 23, 1944, in Washington, D.C. He retired as a baggage handler from Eastern Airlines and operated a boat known as U-371 on the Tennessee River.

Survivors include his parents, Howard and Betty Thompson of Valhermoso Springs; one daughter, Lesli Diamond of Haymarket, Va.; three brothers, Ricky Thompson and Gary Thompson, both of Valhermoso Springs, and Larry Thompson of Park City, Tenn.; two sisters, Wanda Thompson and Donna Roberts, both of Somerville; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Teague, Dale Guess, Yogi Guess, Matthew Teague, Adam Thompson and Brandon Williams.

Elese W. Edmundson
72, retired office manager

Funeral for Elese W. Edmundson, 72, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hal Noble and Rev. John Clotfelter officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Edmundson died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 10, 1929, in Minor Hill, Tenn., to James Bryan White and Lamora Thomas White. She was a member of Central United Methodist, Decatur Women's Chamber of Commerce and Builders Sunday school class. She was retired from Decatur ENT Associates, Inc. as office manager. She was also a former accountant, real estate agent and insurance broker.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth A. Edmundson; one son, John K. Edmundson of Decatur; one daughter, Susan Conner of Decatur; one brother, James L. White of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Cecil Black, Gil Corbett, Earl Elliott, Howard Ellis, Ralph Huff and Ralph Olson.

Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church or Bethel United Methodist Church, 1059 Turner Road, Prospect, TN 38477-6455.

Margaret Elizabeth Gover
69, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Margaret Elizabeth Gover, 69, of Madison will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at O'Neal Church of Christ.

Burial will be O'Neal Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight and Tuesday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Gover died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Crestwood Medical Center. She was born April 27, 1931, in Philadelphia. She was a homemaker and a member of O'Neal Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, David W. Gover Sr. of Athens and Kenneth R. Gover of Atlanta; two brothers, Henry Heine of Baltimore and Frederick Heine of Junction City, Kan.; one sister, Wilma Geisler of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.

Katrina Whitehead Bethea Hartman
37, waitress

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Katrina Whitehead Bethea Hartman, 37, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Evans officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hartman died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born June 11, 1963, in Morgan County to J.W. Whitehead and Mary Eatta West Whitehead. She was co-owner of Hartman Painting and worked part-time as a waitress at Athens Family Restaurant.

Survivors include her husband, David Hartman; one son, Eric Charles Dudley of Hartselle; two daughters, Tabitha Whitehead Jones of Cookeville, Tenn., and Tina Faye Whitehead of Springfield, Tenn.; her father and stepmother, J.W. and Sharon Whitehead of Hartselle; two brothers, Michael Wayne Whitehead and Eugene Pylant, both of Somerville; one sister, Faith Leatta Gambrell of Hartselle; one half sister, Shirley Hollis of Moulton; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be John Gambrell, Bobby Wiley, David Stringer, Wayne Henry, Jonathan Stringer and Thomas McHan.

Alice Durbin Hudson
86, Compass bank retiree

Graveside service for Alice Durbin Hudson, 86, of Courtland will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Courtland City Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Wilson and the Rev. Bill Cooper officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 to 9 at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hudson died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born March 22, 1914, in Pittsburgh to John Vincent Durbin and Alice Garth Tweedy Durbin. She retired from Compass Bank and was a member of Courtland Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of William Hilliary Hudson.

Survivors include two sons, William H. Hudson Jr. of Courtland and Vincent Durbin Hudson of Sarasota, Fla.; two daughters, Meme Dupes of Decatur and Carolyn Hitchcock of Kingston, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Will Green e, Jim Green e, Jeff Green e, Trey Hudson, Mack Green e, John Dupes, Steve Workman and Ramsay Hoke.

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ricky L. Knox, 48, of Moulton will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Herring Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Knox died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born June 10, 1952, in Morgan County to Willie Maurice Knox and Alma Jean Mooney Knox. He was a carpenter and a member of Lebanon Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother of Hartselle; and one brother, Lamar Knox of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Hughes, Mike Garnett, Chris Garnett, Steve Boger, Billy Don Eaton and David Wright.
