Abbie A. Holder
103, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Abbie A. Holder, 103, of Falkville Healthcare Center will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Grad Tanner officiating.

A private graveside service will be at Hartselle City Cemetery on Saturday. The family will receive friends Friday night from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Holder died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at her home. She was born April 23, 1897, in Morgan County to John Daniel Brown and Sarah Alice Woodall Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Hartselle. She was a baby sitter for children in the Hartselle area. She was the widow of Arthur Holder and the mother of the late James A. "Skeet" Holder.

Survivors include one granddaughter, Pam Snellings of Taylor, S.C.; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials be made to First Christian Church of Hartselle, Meals on Wheels, or to the Hartselle Camp Meeting Fund.

Dr. Moody D. Jacobs
74, retired physician

Funeral for Dr. Moody Davis Jacobs, 74, of Decatur was to be today at noon at Oak Park Baptist Church with the Rev. John D. Bain and the Rev. Ray Lee officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Dr. Jacobs died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 1, 1926, in Choctaw County to Robert Lee Jacobs and Annie Viola Shirley Jacobs.

He retired from private practice in 1986 after contracting Lyme disease, but continued as an emergency room physician at Hartselle Medical Center and Express Care at Decatur General Hospital until 1992, when he permanently retired. He was a physician for 39 years.

Dr. Jacobs graduated from The University of Alabama and Tulane Medical School in Louisiana. He served his internship in Macon, Ga., and practiced medicine in Sylacauga for five years and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 2½ years before opening his Decatur family practice in 1961. He was a member of Oak Park Baptist Church, Morgan County Medical Society, Alabama Medical Association, American Medical Association, Academy of Family Practice and Aladdin Knights, and had been a member of the Alabama gun collectors and antique car collectors groups. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Dr. Moody was the first doctor in the United States to treat a person hit by a meteorite. He was a co-founder of the Horse Center, now known as Celebration Arena in Priceville. He enjoyed keeping his yard, especially after he retired, and wanted to order every flower in catalogs he received. He also enjoyed traveling in his recreational vehicle.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hand Jacobs; one son, Glenn Jacobs of Mobile; two daughters, Laura Jacobs Brown of Trinity and Leigh Jacobs Perry of Federal Way, Wash.; three brothers, Roger Jacobs of Mobile, Alman Jacobs of Butler and Dr. Robert Jacobs of San Antonio; two sisters, Judy Sturdivant of Cummins, Ga., and Ruth Corley of Mobile; and five grandsons.

Pallbearers were to be Robert Harris, Larry Byrd, Jimmy Phillips, Tom Hand, Dan Sansing and Archie Hampton.

Gary Jeffreys
53, engineering technician

MOULTON -- Funeral for Gary Jeffreys, 53, of Town Creek will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer Fowler officiating.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Jeffreys died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at home. He was born Aug. 28, 1947, in Lawrence County to Travis Jeffreys and Hazel Jeffreys. He was an engineering technician for Southeast Engineering. He was the widower of Priscilla Roden Jeffreys. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Scott Jeffreys and Jeremy Jeffreys, both of Town Creek; his mother of Town Creek; three brothers, Raymond Jeffreys of Florence, Norman Jeffreys of Decatur and Allen Jeffreys of Moulton; two sisters, Verna Campbell and Helen Taylor, both of Town Creek; and three grandchildren.

Frank Knoblock
87, Climatrol Corp. retiree

Funeral for Frank Knoblock, 87, of Decatur will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Culotta officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Rosary will be said tonight at 5:30 and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Mr. Knoblock died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Big Springs Specialty Care Center in Huntsville. He was born Feb. 17, 1914, in Decatur to Sigmond and Annie Knoblock. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and retired from Climatrol Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Rena C. Knoblock; one son, Frankie Knoblock of Decatur; one daughter, Mary Ann Sharp of Decatur; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Reggie Sharp, Gerald Crafts, Frank Spangler, Paul Moon, Perry P. Powell and Billy Posey.

Robert L. Rushing
91, Wolverine Tube supervisor

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Robert L. Rushing, 91, of Hartselle will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Sparks and Dr. Charles Rushing officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Rushing died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 5, 1909, in Morgan County to James M. Rushing and Vanner Wright Rushing. He was a member of Bibleway House of Prayer in Hartselle and was a retired Wolverine Tube supervisor.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Charles M. Rushing of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Martha Frances Hall of Long Beach, Miss.; two sisters, Marie Long of Battle Creek, Mich., and Ruth Johnson of Toledo, Ohio; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Noble Jeremiah 'Jeremy' Shelton Jr.

Graveside service for Noble Jeremiah "Jeremy" Shelton Jr., 38, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Sivley Cemetery with George Sparks officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Elliott Funeral Home.

Mr. Shelton died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at his home. He was born Nov. 1, 1962, in Lawrence County to Noble Shelton Sr. and Recil Shelton. He was the grandson of Emmitt and Beulah Shelton and Emmitt and Anna Terry.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy Shelton; three daughters, Misty Shelton of Hillsboro, Ashley Shelton of Trinity and Scarlet Shelton of Hartselle; his mother of Decatur; two brothers, Michael Shelton of Hartselle and Orville Shelton of Decatur; two sisters, Glendora Shelton James of Decatur and Janet Shelton Crabb of Hartselle; and one grandchild.

Robert Wayne 'Barney' Barnes
56, farmer
ATHENS -- Funeral for Robert Wayne "Barney" Barnes, 56, of Athens will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Kevin Harbin officiating.

Burial will be in Lentzville Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Barnes died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at his residence. He was born June 22, 1944, in Tennessee to William Ed Barnes and Mary Ann Moss Barnes.

He was a member of Carriger Church of Christ and was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Barnes; one daughter, Renee Barnes of Athens; one brother, Charles Barnes of Labelle, Fla.; three sisters, Willa Mae Coffman and Evie Kelley, both of Athens, and Nola Marie Williams of Anderson; and one granddaughter.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Gracie Lillian Crismond

DYERSBURG, Tenn. -- Funeral for Gracie Lillian Crismond, 77, of Dyersburg, Tenn., will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Curry Funeral Home with the Rev. Mac Daniels officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Obion County, Tenn.

Mrs. Crismond died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, in Falkville. She was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Dyersburg to Mack Whitlow and Ruby Dublin Whitlow. She was the mother of the late F. Junior Crismond and sister of the late Bennie Whitlow, Calvin Whitlow and Lurline Dickerson.

Survivors include one brother, Raymond Whitlow of Elbridge, Tenn.; two sisters, Madean Arnold of Dyersburg and Blanche Keeling of Elbridge; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rod Garrison
47, switchman

TRINITY -- Funeral for Nathan "Rod" Garrison, 47, of Trinity will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Garrison died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Oct. 17, 1953, in Lawrence County to Roy Lee Garrison and Thelma Garrison. He was a switchman in the Materials Department at Champion International paper mill for 25 years, and was the brother of the late Cline Garrison.

Survivors include one son, Jerome Garrison of Hartselle; one daughter, Robin Nicole Garrison of Hillsboro; one brother, Forrest Garrison of Hillsboro; eight sisters, Nelda Kennedy and Melinda Allen, both of Trinity, Glenda Garrison of Decatur, Vickie McCullough and Becky Gillespie, both of Moulton, Racine Rassmussen of Traverse City, Mich., Betty VanDerSlik of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Ann Hill of Moulton; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Dale Garrison, Mike Hill, Scotty Hill, Eric Gillespie, Jason Kennedy, Mark Garrison and Jimmy Fry.

Elnora Gail Kirkpatrick
92, retired insurance worker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Elnora Gail Kirkpatrick, 92, of Hartselle will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kirkpatrick died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Sunbridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Decatur. She was born Aug. 6, 1908, in Morgan County to W.C. Kirkpatrick and Mary Ann Bell Kirkpatrick. She was retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company in Decatur. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle. She was the sister of the late Ocie Kirkpatrick, W.H. Kirkpatrick, Horace Kirkpatrick, Ozell Kirkpatrick, Ruth Alverson, Louise Hogan, Cleo Hogan and Nina Nelson.

Survivors include one brother, John D. Kirkpatrick of Destin, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Steve Kirkpatrick, Jim Bain Jr., Toney Nelson, Gerald Yeager, Wes Ward, Larry Kirkpatrick and Russell Hampton.

Willa Bledsoe Martin
92, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Willa Bledsoe Martin, 92, of Harvest will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Clark officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Martin died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at her home. She was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Frankewing, Tenn., to George Benjamin Troxler and Eldora Jane Pinkney Troxler. She lived in Limestone County for most of her life before moving in with best friend Wanda Hastings at Harvest. She was an artist, poet and antique dealer. She was known in Limestone County as a toy poodle dog breeder, and was a homemaker. She was a Methodist and the mother of the late Billy Gatlin and Inella Gatlin Shepard.

Survivors include one daughter, Annette Daly Kachelman of Huntsville; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
