Tommy Alexander
69, retired U.S. Army

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Tommy Alexander, 69, of Hartselle will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Herring Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Alexander died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Cullman to Amos C. Alexander and Medie Smith Alexander. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years as a sergeant first class, and was a life member of VFW Post 4190. Mr. Alexander received these medals and commendations: three Bronze Stars, two Army commendation medals, four good conduct medals, the Army of Occupation medal, the National Defense medal, two Korean Service medals, two Vietnam Service medals, the United Nations Service medal, the United Nations medal, the meritorious service medal and the Republic of Vietnam campaign ribbon.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Alexander; two daughters, Theresa Williams of Hartselle and Pamela Bradish of Pensacola, Fla.; three sisters, Hazel Murphy of Okeechobee, Fla., Evelyn Smartt of Lafayette, La., and Inez Bates of Danville; and two grandchildren.

Members of the military will be pallbearers.

Albert Edward Hendershot
62, quality control inspector

MOULTON -- The family of Albert Edward Hendershot, 62, of Moulton will have a private service in St. Petersburg. Fla.

Mr. Hendershot died Monday, March 5, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Dec. 27, 1938, in St. Petersburg, Fla., to George Edward Hendershot and Agnes O'Dowd Hendershot. He was a quality control inspector. He was the father of the late Leonard Hendershot.

Survivors include his wife, Magaly Aguero Hendershot of Moulton; two sons, Agustin "Augie" Hendershot of Rogersville and Albert Edward Hendershot Jr. of Decatur; one brother, Mike Hendershot of Clearwater, Fla.; three sisters, Jane Krivoshien of St. Petersburg, Fla., Shirley Palmer of Green sburgh, Pa., and Jo Ana Lexo of Ocala, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Charlotte H. Holladay

A memorial service for Charlotte H. Holladay, 88, of Beverly Hills, Fla., will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Danville.

Mrs. Holladay died Monday, March 5, 2001, in Florida. She was born June 29, 1913, in Germany. She was the widow of Willie Holladay of Danville.

Elora Craze Pace
93, retired elementary teacher

SCOTTSBORO -- Funeral for Elora Craze Pace, 93, of Scottsboro, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gamble and the Rev. Dan Cooper officiating.

Burial will be in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pace died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Rosewood Manor in Scottsboro. She was born Sept. 14, 1907, in Jackson County. She was an elementary teacher in Jackson County Schools for 22 years and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Tate Pace and the grandmother of the late Rickey Wilbourn.

Survivors include one son, Richard A. Pace of Decatur; three daughters, Peggy Summers of Orangeburg, S.C., Jimmie Wilbourn of Scottsboro and Mary Lou Gilmore of Leighton; one sister, Beatrice Goodrich of Danville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Minnie Pearl Bibb Sharpley
69, retired housekeeper

Funeral for Minnie Pearl Bibb Sharpley, 69, of Danville will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Falkville with the Rev. Michael Chatman officiating.

Burial will be at Campground Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Sharpley died, Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at her home. She was born July 16, 1931, in Hartselle to Ollie Bibb and Clementine Bibb. She was the widow of James C. Sharpley and a retired housekeeper.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen F. Orr of Danville and Thelma J. Jones of Hartselle; a stepson, James Alphonso Sharpley of Detroit; one brother, Paul Bibb Sr. of Falkville; one sister, Clezell Bibb of Danville; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Bibb Jr., Arie Bibb, Chester Lampkin, John Lampkin, Limons Orr, and Eddie Lampkin.

Maudie Estelle Watwood
83, homemaker

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Maudie Estelle Watwood, 83, of Cullman will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home with the Rev. Mac Buttram officiating.

Burial will be in Cullman City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Watwood died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Cullman Health Care Center. She was born July 21, 1917, in Cullman to Henry Martin and Minnie Lee Tucker Martin. She was a homemaker. She was the mother of the late Elizabeth Ann Watwood and the sister of the late Odis Martin.

Survivors include her husband, Acy C. Watwood; three daughters, Barbara Starling of Decatur, Mary Nell Hightower of Cullman and Linda Hayes of Hanceville; one brother, Howard Martin of Cullman; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church.

William Charles Aday
85, retired farmer
TRINITY -- Graveside service for William Charles Aday, 85, of Hillsboro was to be today at 11 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with Kirk Bobo officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Aday died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Mountainview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, Tenn. He was born April 14, 1915, in Lawrence County to William H. Aday and Delia Moody Aday. He retired as a farmer and was a member of the Church of Christ at Piney Chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Syble Aday; one son, Charles Aday of Hillsboro; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be L.A. Sparks, A.C. Roden, Robert Smith, Milton Letson and John Jody Letson.

Pearl Baker
77, retired housekeeper

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Pearl Baker, 77, of Falkville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Collins officiating.

Burial will be in Cook Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Baker died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at her home. She was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Morgan County to Leldon Ward and Nania Montgomery Ward. She retired from housekeeping at Summerford Nursing Home.

Survivors include three sons, Keith Baker, Harlan Dale Baker and Donnie Baker, all of Falkville; three brothers, Hack Ward of Hartselle, Wilborn Ward of Decatur and Hulon Ward of Cullman; six sisters, Alline White, Sally Ray, Reba Stinson, Jean Self and Yvonne Russell, all of Hartselle, and Brenda Sparks of Birmingham; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Catherine Black
78, retired nurse

ATHENS -- Funeral for Catherine Black, 78, of Athens will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Roger Jackson and Dusty McLemore officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Black died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at her home. She was born March 21, 1922, in Walker County. She was a retired nurse and a member of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Abernathy of Athens; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Abernathy, Jason Abernathy, Jimmy Holland, Marty Hall, Perry Eddy and Chuckie Lane. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren.

Matthew Dawson Coburn

Funeral for infant Matthew Dawson Coburn of Decatur will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Peebles officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

The baby died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Dec. 30, 2000, in Decatur.

Survivors include his parents, Stephen and Jessica Coburn of Decatur; one brother, John Garrison of Decatur; and his grandparents, William and Angela Rouse of Decatur and John and Vera McDonald of Hillsboro.

John Robert 'Trolley' Eaton
49, boilermaker

Funeral for John Robert "Trolley" Eaton, 49, of Somerville will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Grimes and the Rev. Lester Alexander officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Eaton died Thursday, March 8, 2001, in Jasper. He was born April 15, 1951, in Decatur to John Thomas Eaton and Dovie Ann Murdock Eaton. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 455 and a member of the Country Music Songwriters Association. He was a former Jaycee, and he attended Austin High School.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Murphy Eaton; two sons, Robert Arthur Eaton and Arend Von Eaton, both of Trinity; two daughters, Maria Nicole Eaton of Hartselle and Amy Guess Moore of Decatur; three brothers, Marvin A. Eaton of Decatur, Donald R. Eaton of Trinity and William T. Eaton of Somerville; two sisters, Ann Miller of Decatur and Frances Reed Kelley of Trinity; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James McCravy, Bobby Reed Jr., Frankie Eaton, Cameron Eaton, Shawn Taylor, Shane Taylor and Charles Adams.

Eula 'Jean' Glenn
67, homemaker

TRINITY -- There will be a private family service for Eula "Jean" Glenn, 67, of Decatur. Parkway Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Glenn died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at her home. She was born May 28, 1933, in Knoxville to Calvin Pickel and Ruby Pickel. She was a homemaker and an avid guitar player.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy Childers of Somerville and Arvel Childers of Brooksville; four daughters, Vickie Parkhill of Las Vegas and Kathy Austin, Tammy Campbell and Tanya Morris, all of Decatur; one brother, Bob Pickel of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Joe Singleton of Kountz, Texas; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Valley.

Eva Irene Lawrence

ATHENS -- Eva Irene Lawrence, 82, of Athens died today, March 9, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. McConnell Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Shirley May Coles Lackey Nay
72, retired press operator

ATHENS -- Funeral for Shirley May Coles Lackey Nay, 72, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Nay died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born May 13, 1928, in Scotch Plains, N.J. She was a resident of Limestone County since 1994 and was a retired press operator for Royal Apex Corp. in Plainfield, N. J.

Survivors include her husband, George Edward Nay; two sons, George W. Lackey and Bill Lackey, both of Corinth, Miss.; one daughter, Carlene Freehauf of Athens; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
