Otto Owens

MOULTON -- Funeral for Otto Owens, 90, of Hatton will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer Flower and the Rev. J.B. Wells officiating.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Owens died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at National Health Care in Moulton. He was born Aug. 9, 1910, in Lawrence County to Thomas Wiley Owens and Rebecca Owens. He was retired as a carpenter and a member of Carpenter's Local No. 109. He was a member of Hatton Masonic Lodge No. 879. and the widower of Bertha Owens. He was a deacon at Okolana Baptist Church, where he was a member for 56 years.

Survivors include one son, O.B. Owens of Hartselle; two daughters, Barbara Cherilla of Auburn and Brenda Mutchler of Gray, Ga.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Owen D. Sandlin, Teddy Owens, Ferrel Owens, Dempsey Copeland, J.C. Goodwin, and Luther Masterson.

Maudie Estelle Watwood
83, homemaker

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Maudie Estelle Watwood, 83, of Cullman was to be today at 2 p.m. at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home with the Rev. Mac Buttram officiating.

Burial was to be in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Watwood died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Cullman Health Care Center. She was born July 21, 1917, in Cullman to Henry Martin and Minnie Lee Tucker Martin. She was a homemaker. She was the mother of Elizabeth Ann Watwood and sister of Odis Martin.

Survivors include her husband, Acy C. Watwood; three daughters, Barbara Starling of Decatur, Mary Nell Hightower of Cullman and Linda Hayes of Hartselle; one brother, Howard Martin of Cullman; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church.

Derrel Verrel Boyles
67, homemaker
MOULTON -- Funeral for Derrel Verrel Boyles, 67, of Spring Bay, Ill., will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Tollison officiating.

Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery in Mount Hope. The family will receive friends today from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Boyles died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Sharon Elms Nursing Home. She was born March 4, 1934, in Alabama to Howard and Bernice Shields. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Mayburn Rick Boyles and William Boyles, both of East Peoria, Ill., and Nicky Boyles of Statesville, N.C.; two daughters, Pamela Greer of Spring Bay and Tina Damron of Mount Hope; four brothers, Zane Shields, Autry Shields and Jimmy Shields, all of Mount Hope, and Jerry Shields of Phil Campbell; and 11 grandchildren.

Matthew Dawson Coburn
Infant

Funeral for infant Matthew Dawson Coburn of Decatur will be today at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Peebles officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

The infant died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Dec. 30, 2000, in Decatur.

Survivors include his parents, Stephen and Jessica Coburn of Decatur; one brother, John Garrison of Decatur; and his grandparents, William and Angela Rouse of Decatur and John and Vera McDonald of Hillsboro.

John Robert 'Trolley' Eaton
49, boilermaker

Funeral for John Robert "Trolley" Eaton, 49, of Somerville will be today at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Grimes and the Rev. Lester Alexander officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery.

Mr. Eaton died Thursday, March 8, 2001, in Jasper. He was born April 15, 1951, in Decatur to John Thomas Eaton and Dovie Ann Murdock Eaton. A boilermaker, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 455 and the Country Music Songwriters Association. He was a former Jaycee and attended Austin High School.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Murphy Eaton; two sons, Robert Arthur Eaton and Arend Von Eaton, both of Trinity; two daughters, Maria Nicole Eaton of Hartselle and Amy Guess Moore of Decatur; three brothers, Marvin A. Eaton of Decatur, Donald R. Eaton of Trinity and William T. Eaton of Somerville; two sisters, Ann Miller of Decatur and Frances Reed Kelley of Trinity; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James McCravy, Bobby Reed Jr., Frankie Eaton, Cameron Eaton, Shawn Taylor, Shane Taylor and Charles Adams.

Eva Irene Lawrence
82, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Eva Irene Lawrence, 82, of Athens will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Warren Glass officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lawrence died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Limestone County to Andrew Travis Speight and Jo Ella Neely Speight. She was a homemaker and a member of Hays Mill Church of Christ. She was the mother of the late Wayne Moore.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Aldridge and Hazel Griffin, both of Athens; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Morris Aldridge, Stan Aldridge, Kirk Moore, Kevan Moore, Ronnie Parker and Ray Wolfe.

Frances Cornelia Lott
72, Prestolite retiree

Funeral for Frances Cornelia Lott, 72, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Jim Clark officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lott died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Jan. 31, 1929, in Limestone County to Turnis Noel Ferguson and Winnie Lee Bland Ferguson. She was retired from Prestolite and was a member of State Line Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Harvel of Hartselle; two brothers, Weldon Ferguson of Lewisburg, Tenn., and E.T. Ferguson of Decatur; four sisters, Alberta Nickens of Decatur, Gertrude Whitt of Ardmore, Faye Towe of Green brier and Marjorie Privett of Athens; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Lott, Robbie Stewart, Lynn Shirley, Barry Towe, Trevor Nickens, Dennis Roberts, Billy Towe Jr. and Kim Towe.

Theodore William McDonald
43, Tabor Machine employee

PRICEVILLE -- Funeral for Theodore William McDonald, 43, of Valhermoso Springs will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church with the Rev. W.E. Suit and the Rev. Herbert Smith officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Priceville Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today at 2 p.m. at the church.

Mr. McDonald died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at his home. He was born Sept. 21, 1957, in Decatur to Theodore R. McDonald and Mary Catherine Taylor McDonald. He worked for Tabor Machine and was a former employee of C&C Fabrications.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Suit McDonald; two sons, Danson Kody McDonald and William Lucas Dylan McDonald, both of Valhermoso Springs; three daughters, April Evonne Luck and Tracy Michelle McDonald, both of Madison, Tenn., and Golda Miranda Suit of Lacey's Spring; his mother of Decatur; four brothers, Herman Weaver of Danville, Gene Weaver and Joseph McDonald, both of Decatur, and Robert Ziegler of Jonesboro, Ga.; three sisters, Mary Allen of Huntsville, Florene Parker of Town Creek and Barbara Steele of Hartselle; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Haga, Joseph Haga, Thomas Haga, Clifford Irons, Tony Steele and Rodney Weaver.

Ronald B. Shamblin
87, Goodyear retiree

GADSDEN -- Funeral for Ronald B. Shamblin, 87, of Decatur, formerly of Gadsden, will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel with the Rev. Richard Trader officiating.

Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Shamblin died Friday, March 9, 2001. A resident of Gadsden most of his life, he was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and a member of Central Baptist Church. He was the father of the late Rev. Rodney Shamblin.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Shamblin; one daughter, Beverly Minish; one sister, Olga Kennedy; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dr. John Shamblin, Jason Shamblin, the Rev. Victor Minish, Marc Minish, Jason Gasque and Larry Masterson.

Deacons of 12th Street Baptist Church in Gadsden will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church building fund.

Cleo Tucker
82, retired mechanic

TRINITY -- Funeral for Cleo Tucker, 82, of Trinity will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Holy Church of Christ with Marcus Lipscomb and Keith Jones officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Tucker died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Lawrence County to Frank and Elzora Tucker. He was a World War II veteran, a retired mechanic and a member of Pine Grove Holy Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Tucker; one son, Jerald Tucker of Trinity; one daughter, Martha Haggermaker of Moulton; two sisters, Geneva Campbell of Moulton and Linnie Gutherie of Falkville; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.

Hazel Thelene Aldridge
79, Goodyear retiree
Funeral for Hazel Thelene Aldridge, 79, of Decatur will be Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Jim Clark officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Aldridge died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born June 21, 1921, in Cullman to Dock and Alma Hall. She was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and was a member of Decatur Christian Church. She was the mother of the late Wayne Pruett.

Survivors include one son, Greg Aldridge of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter Margaret Jo Mitchell of Cullman; one brother, Edsel Hall of Cullman; and three sisters, Imogene Hindell of Cullman, Barbara Sue Lindsey of Decatur and Betty Dunn of Tuscaloosa.

Pallbearers will be Brent Lindsey, Doug Hall, Richard Bibb, Jimmy Lindsey, Randy Lindsey and Jeff Lindsey.

Leta Brown Collins
80, retired business owner

Funeral for Leta Brown Collins, 80, of Hartselle will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Tolbert officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Collins died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at her home. She was born May 14, 1920, in Madison County to Paskal Brown and Ethel Stephen Wright Brown. She was the former owner of Leta's Beauty Shoppe and the co-owner, with her husband, of Joe's Coffee Cup. She had been an active member of Central Baptist Church since 1939. She was the widow of J.D. "Joe" Collins.

Survivors include three sons, David Collins of Winter Haven, Fla., Douglas Collins of Brooksville and Mike Collins of Orlando, Fla.; and two sisters, Nadene Bartlett of Decatur and Irma B. Swango of Silver Spring, Md.

Pallbearers will be Marion Wallace, Glen Jones, Mark Bartlett, Kenneth Wright, Randy Allen and Dewayne Young.
