Beatrice Russ Rogillio

TALLULAH, La. -- Funeral for Beatrice Russ Rogillio, 96, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. Fred Fulton officiating.

Burial was to be in Silver Cross Gardens of Memory in Tallulah with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Rogillio died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 4, 1905, in Tallulah to Robert Russ and Lula Parnell Russ. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Tallulah for 88 years. She was the granddaughter of the founder of Ruston, La.

Survivors include three daughters, Lulabe Furr of Bossier City, La., Mary Alice Wall of Farmerville, La., and Bay Naylor of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Grandchildren will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Tallulah.

Alma Ruth 'Ma Ruth' Sykes Sanders
73, homemaker

Funeral for Alma Ruth "Ma Ruth" Sykes Sanders, 73, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Grace and Truth Outreach Ministry with Bishop Ronnie Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Sanders died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born April 5, 1927, in Limestone County to Thomas Sykes and Maggie Lee Sykes.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pentecostal House of Prayer and later joined Grace and Truth Outreach Ministry.

Survivors include her husband, Kelly L. Sanders; one daughter, Shirley A. Tucker of Decatur; two stepsons, Kelly Sanders Jr. and Baxter Sanders, both of Chattanooga; four stepdaughters, Sadie Gill, Pearlie M. Jackson, Loucille Sanders, all of Chattanooga, and Shirley Shaw of Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother, Linzell Sykes of Chicago; two sisters, Gertrude Napper of Decatur and Barbara Moseley of Detroit, Mich.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Sanders Jr., Abraham Jackson, Michael Gill, Bobby Pride, Frederick Moseley, Jason White and David Strong.

Martha Elizabeth Griffin Whitman
88, homemaker

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Martha Elizabeth Griffin Whitman, 88, of Hermitage, Tenn., will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Marshall officiating.

Burial will be in Blanche Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whitman died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Integrated Health Services in Donelson, Tenn.

She was born Oct. 30, 1912, in Lincoln County, Tenn. to Dudley Griffin and Emma Griffin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. She was the widow of Oscar Lee Whitman and the mother of Douglas Whitman.

Survivors include one son, Thomas Lee Whitman Sr. of Ardmore; three daughters, Jean Lewter of Ardmore, Sue Galloway of Taft, Tenn. and Dorothy VanderBrink of Hermitage, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

George Orville Williams Sr.
82, minister

ATHENS -- Funeral for George Orville Williams Sr., 82, of Athens was to be today at 3 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with George O. Williams Jr. and Dan Binkley officiating.

Burial was to be in Valley View Cemetery.

Mr. Williams died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

He was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Limestone County. He was a lifetime resident of Athens and a longtime Church of Christ minister. He taught at Athens Bible School for 13 years. He was a farmer and worked in the insurance, contracting and real estate business. He was the father of Steven Boyd Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Marietta Williams; one son, George O. Williams Jr. of Athens; one daughter, Sherry Williams Goode of Montgomery; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Athens Bible School.

Phyllis Grace Francis
82, retired factory worker

Funeral for Phyllis Grace Francis, 82, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Lynn Marshall officiating.

Mrs. Francis died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for Decatur. She was born May 31, 1918, in Chicago to Clarence Tutt and Mary Wengner Tutt. A former resident of St. Petersburg, Fla., she was a retired factory worker and a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Phillip Bebo of Aurora, Ill.; two daughters, Barbara Andrews Wade of Northport, Fla., and Neida Childers of Hartselle; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mary Helen Lyle Fretwell

Funeral for Mary Helen Lyle Fretwell of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Lankford and the Rev. Arthur Rowe officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fretwell died Monday, March 19, 2001, at her brother's home. She was born in Decatur to Samuel Felton Lyle and Helen Johnston Lyle. She was a longtime member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, where she was chairman of the board of trustees. She also participated in Even Start with Decatur City Schools. She was the widow of Howell Leo Fretwell.

Survivors include one brother, William B. Lyle of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Glen Johnson, John Paul Sheats, Kendall Bass, Raymond Royer, Lincoln Fretwell, Ralph Ledbetter and Howell Terry.

Methodist Men of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church general fund or to the Central United Methodist Church building fund.

Blanchard Gaillard 'B.G.' Hogue

MOULTON -- Blanchard Gaillard "B.G." Hogue, 90, of Moulton died today, March 20, 2001, at National Health Care in Moulton. Elliott Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Mildred Pauline Kelley
69, retired nursing assistant

Funeral for Mildred Pauline Kelley, 69, of Trinity will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Allen officiating.

Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kelley died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at her home. She was born April 13, 1931, in Ardmore, Tenn., to Grady Watkins and Mattie Odell Watkins. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and was retired from Medical Park Convalescent Center as a nursing assistant. She was the widow of Loyd Kelley.

Survivors include seven sons, Jackie Kelley, Tommy Kelley, Tony Kelley and Stevie Kelley, all of Trinity, Timmy Kelley and Donald Kelley, both of Hillsboro, and Jerry Kelley of Cherokee; three daughters, Kathy Church of Trinity, Linda Allen of Decatur and Marie Gay of Hillsboro; two brothers, Vernon Watkins and Gary Watkins, both of Trinity; five sisters, Era Davis of Ardmore, Tenn., Mary Clark and Dale Mills, both of Decatur, Rebecca Wallace of Florence and Vickie Hill of Trinity; 26 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Kelley, Jerry Kelley, Adam Kelley, Mickey Kelley, Dewayne Kelley, Jason Kelley and Chase Hale.

Farrish Lamar Kenum
60, electrician

TRINITY -- Funeral for Farrish Lamar Kenum, 60, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with O.D. Bowling and Ray McWhorter officiating.

Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Kenum died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at his home. He was born March 29, 1940, in Lawrence County to Harris Kenum and Alice Mae Kenum. He was an electrician with Chugach Management Services at Redstone Arsenal and was a member of the Church of Christ and the North Alabama Mustang Club. He was a state 4-H winner in the electrical category.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia Thompson Kenum; two sons, Timothy Lamar Kenum of Dunwoody, Ga., and Troy Micah Kenum of Moulton; one daughter, Marshela Dionne Kenum Segars of Moulton; his mother of Moulton; two brothers, Harold Harris Kenum and Willard Eugene Kenum, both of Moulton; one sister, Marilyn Javon Ghrigsby of Moulton; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Shelton, Doug Smith, Wayne Crow, Wendell Logan, Alton Smith and Don Franks.

Members of the Mustang Club will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Virgil Thorpe
86, retired service manager

JOPLIN, Mo. -- Funeral for Virgil Thorpe, 86, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Parker Funeral Home.

Lawrence Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Thorpe died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at National Health Care in Moulton. He was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Kansas to Erma Lawson. He was retired as a service manager from Caterpillar Co.

Survivors include one son, Mike Thorpe of Decatur; and two grandchildren.

Flora Yeager Waits
97, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Flora Yeager Waits, 97, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. Ron Wilson, the Rev. W.G. Henry and the Rev. W.K. Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Waits died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Jan. 29, 1904, in Morgan County to Henry Thomas Marion Sr. and Eula Williams Marion. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hartselle and First United Methodist Church of Hartselle. She was a homemaker, piano accompanist for 20 years at First Baptist Church of Nashville and organist for almost 20 years at at Hartselle Camp Meeting Association Tabernacle. She was the widow of Dewey Yeager.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald D. Waits.

Pallbearers will be Ted Alverson, Joe Brindley, Hugh Brindley, Ray Buchman, Ben Land and Tom Bennich.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Hartselle, First United Methodist Church of Hartselle or the Hartselle Camp Meeting Association Tabernacle.
