ATHENS -- Funeral for Stevie E. Blakely, 50, of Harvest will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Ron Owen and Mike Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Blakely died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at his home.

He was born May 12, 1950, in Limestone County.

He was employed in the interstate billing division of Regions Bank. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. He was the son of Ervin Blakely.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Hyatt Blakely of Harvest; one son, Steven Michael Blakely of Decatur; one daughter, Stephanie Blakely Calabrace of Brentwood, Tenn.; his mother, Erma Adams Blakely of Athens; two brothers, Larry Michael Blakely of Athens and Reggie Blakely of Decatur; and one sister, Janet Hudson of Hazel Green .

Pallbearers will be Gary Peek, Dustin Peek, Mark Blakely, Brian Blakely, Landy Raley, Lee Adcox, Mike Blakely and Bill Redmon.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Helene Irene Burns
81, retired beautician

ATHENS -- Graveside services for Helene Irene Burns, 81, of Madison will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, with G.J. Herman Funeral Home directing. McConnell Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Burns died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at her home. She was born March 3, 1920, in Brown's Corner, Ind. She was a retired beautician.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Sue Ganzberg of Madison and Judith Ann Hunt Hunter of Plant City, Fla.; one brother, Paul Brown of Danville, Ill.; three sisters, Ruth Weir of Ladoga, Ind., Oveita Moran of Dallas, Texas, and Betty Thomas of Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alabama, 2225 Drake Ave., Huntsville, AL 35805.

Victoria May 'Vickie' Evans
58, accounts receivable clerk

Funeral for Victoria May "Vickie" Evans, 58, of Decatur will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Walt Schmidt officiating.

Burial will be in Pineburr Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Evans died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital.

She was born June 13, 1942, in Clarksburg, W.Va., to Gilbert Alton and Goldie McPherson Alton. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and an accounts receivable clerk for ConAgra Co.

Survivors include her husband, Leroy Evans; one son, David Evans of Decatur; one daughter, Debbie Perry of New Market; two brothers, David Alton of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jerry Alton of Fayetteville, W. Va.; three sisters, Edna Baker and Kathie Colic, both of Cleveland, and Carol Gainer of Imperial, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Cathcart, O'Neal Proctor, James Sparks, Frank Waddell, Billy Lee Terry, and Waylon Free.

Memorials may be made to the mission fund at Fairview Baptist Church, 1600 Magnolia St. S.E., Decatur, AL 35601.

Blanchard 'B.G.' Hogue
90, retired businessman

MOULTON -- Funeral for Blanchard Gaillard "B.G." Hogue, 90, of Moulton will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Moulton with the Rev. Larry Wright officiating.

Burial will be in Shoemaker Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hogue died Monday, March 20, 2001, in Moulton. He was born Oct. 5, 1910, in Carrolton to Joseph Newborn Hogue and Pinkie Windle Hogue. He was graduate of The University of Alabama and was a retired businessman. He retired as a Lt. Col. from the U.S. Army Reserve and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Byars Hogue; one son, Gil Hogue of Cullman; two daughters, Betty Miller of Iola, Kansas, and Linda Stewart of Birmingham; three brothers, Jacob Hogue of Charleston, S.C., Joe Hogue of Aliceville and Hubert Hogue of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Dorothy Schmitt of Tuscaloosa; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be The Drug Shop Coffee Drinkers.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Moulton.

Leonard Clyde McCarter
83, civil service retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for Leonard Clyde McCarter, 83, of Harvest will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Everett Conn officiating.

Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. McCarter died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Dec. 8, 1917, in Alcorn County, Miss., to James Arthur McCarter and Lillie Mae Smith McCarter. He was a resident of Mobile for 61 years, where he retired from civil service at Brookley Field and was a former deacon of Oakdale Church of Christ. He was an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He lived in Harvest for nearly four years, where he was a member of Capshaw Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred McCarter; one son, James William McCarter of Harvest; one daughter, Carol Anne Caffey of Ozark; six brothers, Lawrence McCarter and Johnny McCarter, both of Guys, Tenn., Charles McCarter and Gene McCarter, both of Michie, Tenn., Gilbert McCarter of Cornith, Miss., and Paul McCarter of Mobile; two sisters, Marguerite Baker of Memphis and Ethelyn Gurley of Guys, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence McCarter, Paul McCarter, Charles McCarter, Johnny McCarter, Gilbert McCarter, Patrick Caffey, Gene McCarter and Taylor Caffey.

Sabrina Denise Oakley

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Sabrina Denise Oakley, 36, of Vinemont was Monday at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Makemson officiating.

Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Vinemont.

Miss Oakley died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Aug. 31, 1964, in Morgan County. She was a former resident of Huntsville and Cullman and graduated from Huntsville High School in 1984. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Vinemont.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Ferris and Lynda Oakley of Cullman; her mother and stepfather, Dr. Richard and Donnis Halburg of Huntsville; two brothers, Keith Oakley of Moulton and Shannon Oakley of San Diego; three stepbrothers, Scotty Kinsler of Cullman, Steve Halburg of Chicago and Marc Halburg of Huntsville; three stepsisters, Paige Hart of Cullman, Susanne Ponder of Huntsville and Lori Allen of Portland, Ore.; and her grandparents, R.C. and Wilma Royer of Hartselle.

Rita 'Cherokee Rose' Segler
44, Native American dancer and teacher

Funeral for Rita "Cherokee Rose" Segler, 44, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Smith and Cherokee Chief Gena Williams officiating.

Burial will be in New Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Segler died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at her daughter's Decatur home. She was born July 18, 1956, in Mount Hope to Robert Borden and Orvalene Borden. She lived in Decatur and Madison for most of her life. She represented the White Buffalo Calf Woman during Native American Pow Wows and festivals and was a homemaker. She has an adoptive Cherokee mother, Mama Gene Jackson of Cherokee, N.C.

Survivors include her husband, David Segler Sr.; one son, David Segler Jr. of Decatur; two daughters, Chasity Thorn and Mary Beth Segler, both of Decatur; her mother of Somerville; her father and stepmother, Robert and Arthenia Borden of Decatur; one brother, Gene Borden of Fairview; two sisters, Vicki Smith of Priceville and Shelia Duffell of Honorville; and five grandchildren.

Ruth 'Sis' Blackwell Simrell
81, homemaker

Funeral for Ruth "Sis" Blackwell Simrell, 81, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Pat Brock and the Rev. Dr. Mark Tolbert officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Simrell died Monday, March 19, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Decatur to Robert Blackwell and Ruth Blackwell. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Simrell; one son, William Douglas Simrell Jr. of Ivory Coast, Africa; two daughters, Harriet Callaway of Lynchburg, Va., and Suzanne Yarbrough of Decatur; three brothers, Robert Blackwell of Montgomery, Paul Blackwell of Decatur and Sam Blackwell of Anniston; three sisters, Margaret Tuten, Jane Harris and Ann Britnell, all of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Foreign Mission Fund or to Alacare Home Health and Hospice, 805 11th Street S.E., Decatur, AL 35601.

Charles 'J.W.' Turner

ATHENS -- Funeral for Charles "J.W." Turner, 80, of Athens will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Copeland Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Turner died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at his home. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at McConnell Funeral Home, which will announce further arrangements.

Stanley Calvert
41, social worker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Stanley Calvert, 41, of Athens, was to be today at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Keenum and the Rev. Richard Barham officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Calvert died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at his home. He was born Jan. 22, 1960, in Athens. He was a social worker.

Survivors include his parents, Carlos and Marie Calvert of Athens; one brother, Steve Calvert of New Market; and one sister, Judy Sarver of Fayetteville, Ga.

Pallbearers were to be Darron Calvert, Jason Calvert, John Campbell, Jerry George, William George and Grady Paul Taylor.

Margaret R. Campbell
90, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Margaret R. Campbell, 90, of Athens, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Allen officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with McConnell Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Campbell died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at her home. She was born Jan. 9, 1911, in New Brunswick, N.J., to Louis Ritthaler and Maria Ziemsky Ritthaler. She was a resident of Limestone County for 55 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the St. Paul's Catholic Church Altar Society. She a homemaker and the widow of Thomas H. Campbell. She was the sister of Elsie Dechert, Marie Akin, Frieda O'Hare, Betty Henderson and George Ritthaler.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas R. Campbell of Atlanta and Jack L. Campbell of Huntsville; one daughter, Doris C. Durham of Athens; two brothers, Louis Ritthaler and Thomas Ritthaler, both of Edison, N.J.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Campbell, Stanley Campbell, Daniel Campbell, John Campbell, Mike Besh and Brent Balogh.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or the building fund of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

Edwin Marie Terry 'Tootsie' Hale
76, homemaker

Mrs. Hale died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at her home. She was born July 28, 1924, in Lawrence County. She was a homemaker and a member of Chalybeate Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Anita Hale Whisenant of Trinity; two sisters, Ida Kathleen Towler of Ypsilanti, Mich. and Donna Schooler of Danville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Parker, Douglas Hale, Cleveland Hale, Bobby Hale, Ron Clayborn and Ronnie Alexander.
