Funeral for Ramon Jackson Melson, 52, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Ripley officiating.

Internment will be in Roselawn Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Melson died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at his home. He was born March 8, 1949, in Alabama to James Edwin Melson and Nettie Ellen Waters Melson. He was a member of Decatur Baptist Church and the Literature Tract Ministry. He was a Vietnam veteran, retired from AutoZone and a volunteer with the Police Citizen Academy.

Survivors include one daughter, Amy Melson of Athens; three brothers, Rivard Melson of Monroeville, Royce Melson of Moulton, and Rabon Melson of Decatur; and one sister, Jean Reed of Trinity.

Pallbearers will be Webb Lunsford, Arlin Downs, Troy Terry, Wilson McElroy, George Hoffman, and Charles Holder.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 915 Franklin St. S.E., Huntsville, AL 35801.

Alta Crumpton Morgan
77, homemaker

HALEYVILLE -- Funeral for Alta V. Crumpton Morgan, 77, of Moulton, formerly of Haleyville, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home with Joe Holmes and Donald Crumpton officiating.

Burial will be in Littleville Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Morgan died Monday, March 26, 2001, at National Health Care in Moulton. She was born May 23, 1923, in Winston County. She was a homemaker and a member of Haleyville Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Holmes of Decatur and Francis K. Hurt of Haleyville; one brother, Y.C. Crumpton of Haleyville; one sister, Lula Faye Cook of Haleyville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Shirley Reed Styles
63, license commissioner's office retiree

Funeral for Shirley Reed Styles, 63, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Orville Collins officiating.

Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery at Mitchell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Mount Hope. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Styles died Monday, March 26, 2001, at her home. She was born Nov. 2, 1937, in Morgan County to Douglas and Etta Smith. She was a member of Autumnwood Baptist Church and retired from the Morgan County license commissioner's office.

Survivors include her husband, Ollie E. Styles; one son, Micha Reed of Decatur; one daughter, Diane Breeding of Decatur; one stepson, Robert Styles of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Jane Styles of Guntersville; one sister, Joyce Donahue of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Styles, Scott Breeding, Kyle Breeding, Clint Moore, Dalton Reed and Vernon Lane.

Marie McBay Woodall
86, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Marie McBay Woodall, 86, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. H.T. Perry officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Woodall died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Aug. 19, 1914, in Limestone County to Will McBay and Belle Johnson McBay. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

Survivors include three sisters, Maxine Irons and Irene Powers, both of Decatur, and Evelyn Myles of Ardmore, Tenn.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

James Clark Weatherwax
TRINITY -- James Clark Weatherwax, a former member of the Moulton City Council and a businessman who opened the first full-scale Piggly Wiggly supermarket in Lawrence County, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at home. He was 78.

Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Moulton Baptist Church with the Rev. Darryl Wood officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens with Parkway Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends two hours before the service at the church.

Mr. Weatherwax retired from Piggly Wiggly and served on the board of directors of Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Co. and The Citizens Bank. He was a member of Moulton Baptist Church and served on the City Council in the 1960s.

He was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Moulton to Clark Weatherwax and Eleanor Bass Weatherwax. He was the brother of the late Ted Weatherwax.

Survivors include his wife, Frances B. Weatherwax; one son, Roger Weatherwax of Trinity; one daughter, Charlotte Nixon of Moulton; one sister, Barbara Moody of Huntsville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Harvey Elliott, Wayne Gentry, Brad Jackson, Harold Speake, Bill Watson, Jamie Weatherwax, Patrick Weatherwax and Reagan Wise.

Golfing friends will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Moulton Baptist Church Building Fund.

Cennie Turner Crosby Jr.
74, VA retiree

Graveside service for Cennie Turner Crosby Jr., 74, of Moulton was to be today at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Mr. Crosby died Monday, March 26, 2001, at National Health Care in Moulton. He was born Oct. 15, 1926, in Lamar County, Miss. He was retired from the Veterans Administration and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Ann S. Crosby; one son, Roy Chandler of Alexandria, Va.; four daughters, Teresa Cox of Booneville, Miss., Cindy Gillenwaters of Dadeville, Judy Callahan of Decatur and Janice Looney of Tuscaloosa; 12 brothers and sisters; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Brothers were to be pallbearers.

Sons-in-law and daughters-in-law were to be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 60611-1676.

Andrew Krenkel
86, retired plant manager

MOULTON -- Funeral for Andrew Krenkel, 86, of Moulton will be Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Darryl Woods officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Krenkel died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 3, 1914, in New York, N.Y., to Andrew Krenkel and Louisa Amelia Alter Krenkel. He retired in 1977 from Chicago Bridge & Iron in Birmingham as plant manager and civil engineer. He was a graduate of The University of Alabama and was active in Kiwanis and Lions clubs.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Delashaw Krenkel; two sons, Andrew Krenkel Jr., of Destin, Fla., and Charles Edward Krenkel of Cullman; and three grandchildren.

Tyson Tammel Townsend
83, farmer

ATHENS -- Funeral for Tyson Tammel Townsend, 83, of Lester will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Leslie Bagsby officiating.

Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Townsend died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Tennessee to Earl and Beulah Townsend. He was a farmer. He was the stepson of the late Annie Townsend, the brother of the late Lafayette Townsend and Kenneth Townsend, and the grandfather of the late Ken Loveless.

Survivors include his wife, Nella Townsend; one son, Jim Townsend of Pinson; two daughters, Nancy Burnett of Brierfield and Patricia Lovell of Athens; six brothers, Benjamin Townsend of Athens, Joe Townsend of Anderson, Bradford Townsend, Hadren Townsend, Smith Roland Townsend and Wilburn Townsend, all of Minor Hill, Tenn.; five sisters, Pinkie Croley of Lester, Mable Hazelwood of Athens, Ena B. Long of Winter Haven, Fla., and Earlene Bassham and Annie Hendrix, both of Minor Hill; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Athens-Limestone Kidney Association.

Lottie Elizabeth 'Dot' Waits
81, homemaker

TRINITY -- Funeral for Lottie Elizabeth "Dot" Waits, 81, of Danville was to be today at 10:30 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Smith and the Rev. Deen Simms officiating.

Burial was to be in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Waits died Monday, March 26, 2001, at her home. She was born March 22, 1920, in Lawrence County to James Wesley Dutton and Sarah Elizabeth Wiley. She was a homemaker and a member of Berea Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Rubert E. Waits; two sons, James R. Waits of Brentwood, Tenn., and Johnny E. Waits of Chipley, Fla.; one brother, Robert Dutton of Auburn Hills, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Channing Waits, Jonathan Waits, Jason Waits, Boyd W. Dutton, Roger Dutton, Darren Cole and Dwayne Dutton.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602, or to the American Cancer Society.

Mildred Gilbert Booker
90, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Mildred Gilbert Booker, 90, of Athens, will be Saturday at noon at the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Moore and the Rev. Thomas Gaines officiating.

Burial will be in Leggtown Cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at Mrs. Booker's home at 808 Westmoreland St.

Mrs. Booker died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church and the Naomi chapter of Eastern Star 653.

Survivors include two sons, Howard L. Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., and William "Ricky" Plater of Sunderland, Md.; three daughters, Alfornia Stewart of Louisville, Ky., Willornita Johnson of Kokomo, Ind., and Drenda Henry of Indianapolis; two sisters, Alice Plater of Sunderland, Md., and Andize Johnson of Pulaski, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church and Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church.

James 'J.B.' Barney Brown Jr.
79, South Central Bell retiree

ATHENS -- Graveside service for James "J. B." Barney Brown Jr., 79, of Athens, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Oakhill Cemetery in Jasper with the Rev. Fred Lackey and Joe Teal officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing. The service will be performed with Masonic rites.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Walker County. He was retired from South Central Bell and was a World War II Army veteran of the 650th Engineer's division. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Athens. He was the father of the late Glen M. Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Key Brown; three sons, Barney C. Brown of Athens, Jim H. Brown of Huntsville and Mark A. Brown of Hueytown; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or to youth missions at First Baptist Church.
