Nina Lee Keeton
85, retired cafeteria worker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Nina Lee Keeton, 85, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Dan Anderson, John Hogan and Bob White officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Keeton died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Limestone County to Andrew and Ethel Hargrave. She was a member of East Highland Baptist Church and a retired cafeteria worker at East Limestone High School.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Keeton; one son, Jimmy Keeton of Harvest; one sister, Ethel Poteete of Athens; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sidney Keeton, Gerald Keeton, Nicholas Keeton, David Hargrave, Milton White, Ray Ramirez and Lynwood Bailey.

James Edward 'Pete' Perry
76, Teledyne retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for James Edward "Pete" Perry, 76, of Elkmont was to be today at noon at Apostolic Christian Church with Tom Schrenk, Mike Moore, Tim Reinhard and Billy Taylor officiating.

Burial was to be in Apostolic Christian Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Perry died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at his home. He was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Limestone County. He was retired from Teledyne Wah Chang Alabama and was a member of Apostolic Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Perry; three sons, James Anders Perry of Athens, and Delmer Ray Perry and Ricky Dean Perry, both of Elkmont; three daughters, Melisha Ann Middlebrooks of Athens, Betty Jean Gatlin and Joyce Marie Perry, both of Elkmont; two brothers, Alford Perry and Billy Wayne Perry, both of Athens; three sisters, Hazel Vibbert of Athens, Corrine Thomas Williams of Harvest and Rebecca Dupree of Dutton; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Don Perry, Lynn Perry, Bradley Perry, Scott Strasser, Randy Schrimsher and Joey Lyles.

Monroe Sisco
68, maintenance worker

Funeral for Monroe Sisco, 68, of Trinity will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Marcus Lipscomb officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Sisco died Monday, April 9, 2001, at his home. He was born June 4, 1932, in Limestone County to Jack and Ruthie Sisco. He was a Baptist and a maintenance worker for Riverside Assisted Living.

Survivors include three sons, Waylon Sisco and Mike Sisco, both of Belle Mina, and Mark Sisco of Huntsville; five daughters, Theresa Ann Tuck of Athens, Kathy Cline of Hillsboro, Cindy Hayes of Green brier, Lisa Sisco of Decatur and Christy Quillen of Moulton; one brother, Milton Sisco of Missouri; three sisters, Glenda Gurton and Pat Kindread, both of Decatur, and Sue Nichols of Madison; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Gurton Jr., Teddy Russ, Bradley Evans, Jimmy Worthey, Rodney Gurton and Gene Cline.

Opal L. Tucker Borden
63, homemaker

TRINITY -- Funeral for Opal L. Tucker Borden, 63, of Moulton will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Pine Grove Holy Church of Christ with Keith Jones and Richard Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Chapel Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Borden died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at her home. She was born July 3, 1937, in Lawrence County to Dennis Tucker and Nona Tucker. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Holy Church of Christ. She was the widow of Melvin W. Borden and the mother of Patsy Borden Hammon.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Borden and Brad Borden, both of Moulton; three sisters, Virginia Naylor of Moulton, Gail Bumpus of Trinity and Margie Dutton of Nashville; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Vincent Cole, Stacie Brown, Stanley Cheatham, Carlos Borden, Matt Shelton and Ron Hammon.

Marvin 'Shorty' Foster
77, retired equipment operator

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Marvin "Shorty" Foster , 77, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Fanning officiating.

Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery in Limestone County. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Foster died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Limestone County to Ben Warner Foster and Hattie Lou Robertson Foster . He was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired equipment operator for the Alabama Department of Transportation and a farmer.

Survivors include two sons, David Ray Foster of Toney and Benny Harold Foster of Priceville; four daughters, Helen Susanne Foster and Teresa Faye Foster , both of Arab, and Melissa "Lisa" Miller and Angel Renee Foster Cravens, both of Decatur; one sister, Marie Junior of Madison; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Johnnie F. 'Pete' Grizzard Jr.
72, TVA retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for Johnnie F. "Pete" Grizzard Jr., 72, of Moulton, was to be today at 1 p.m. at People's Funeral Home with the Rev. Betty Grizzard officiating.

Burial was to be in Poplar Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Grizzard died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at his home. He was born in Limestone County. He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Grizzard; two sons, Willie Grizzard of Tanner and Gregory Grizzard of Huntsville; two stepsons, Ivory Warren of Florence and Johnnie Warren of Moulton; four daughters, Mary Beasley, Maude Grizzard, Renee Redus and Deborah McCullough, all of Athens; three stepdaughters, Juanita Warren of Huntsville, Denise Grizzard of Moulton and Betty Jeffery of Huntsville; one brother, James Yarbrough of Athens; four sisters, Minnie Fletcher and Willie Mae Douglas, both of Athens, Mazine Shoulders of Detroit and Leslie D. McDaniel of Tuscaloosa; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Elwin Harbison
65, retired truck driver, musician

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Elwin Harbison, 65, of Logan will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Mount Hope Baptist Church in Crane Hill with the Rev. Charles Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Moss Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before services.

Mr. Harbison died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Cullman County to Thomas Elmer Harbison and Dora Bates Harbison. He was a retired truck driver and a musician known for playing the mandolin, fiddle and guitar. He once performed with The Freestate Bluegrass Boys, a band from Winston County. He learned to play his first instrument, his brother Louie's mandolin, in his bed as a 5-year-old so he wouldn't drop it and break it. Harbison's story appeared in THE DAILY as a Real People feature Feb. 8.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Fay Harris Harbison; one son, Leon James Harbison of Logan; one daughter, Linda Carol Harbison of Logan; three brothers, Chalmer Harbison of Logan and Louie Harbison and Leo Harbison, both of Cullman; and one grandson.

Horace Love

Graveside service for Horace Love, 67, of Decatur will be Thursday at noon at Huntsville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Nick White officiating and Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Love died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1933, in Lacey's Spring.

Survivors include three brothers, Charles Love, Randy Love and Tyrone Love, all of Hartselle.

Family and friends will be pallbearers.

Charles Byron Mitchell
88, retired service station owner

Funeral for Charles Byron Mitchell, 88, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. W.G. Henry and the Rev. Wade Griffith officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Mitchell died Monday, April 9, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Morgan County to Charles Malone Mitchell and Estelle Upchurch Mitchell. He was the retired operator and owner of Mitchell's Service Station and a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He was the brother of the late Horace Mitchell and Maurene Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Mitchell; one son, Ray Mitchell of Huntsville; one daughter, Patsy Minor of Cleveland, Tenn.; one sister, Margaret Berzett of Decatur; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Effie J. Murphree

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Effie J. Murphree, 64, of Town Creek will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Town Creek with Morrison Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery of Town Creek. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home and the body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Murphree died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at her home. The funeral home will announce complete arrangements.

Harold Lloyd "Toby" Swinford
56, construction worker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Harold Lloyd "Toby" Swinford, 56, of Ardmore, was to be today at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. John Moses officiating.

Burial was to be in Gatlin Cemetery.

Mr. Swinford died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Nov. 10, 1944, in Huntsville. He was a construction worker and a veteran of the 101st Airborne Division, serving in Vietnam. He was the son of the late Paul Clarence Swinford and the brother of the late Vickie Ann Worthey.

Survivors include three sons, Harold Lloyd Swinford Jr., Michael Neal Swinford and Charles Lee Swinford, all of Monette, Mo.; one stepson, Steve Boren of Ardmore; one step-daughter, Teresa Boren of Chicago, Ill.; his mother, Louise Everett of Chicago; four sisters, Katherine Creque of Chicago, Martha Ann Swinford of Ardmore, Patsy Smith of Taft, Tenn. and Ruby Jewel McKenzie of Sheperdsville, Ky.; five grandchildren; and one step-grandson.

Pallbearers were to be Carson Thompson, Jerry Mills, Jason Boren, Al Thompson, Mike Hemphill and John Garrett.

Ruby E. Wiggins
91, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ruby E. Wiggins, 91, of Athens, will be Thursday at noon at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Rice officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery.

Mrs. Wiggins died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born April 21, 1909, in Memphis. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served on the mother's board at that church.

Survivors include three sons, Adolphus M. Crooks of Madison, and David Allen Crooks and Blendor Crooks, both of Athens; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge No. 71 in Athens.

Henry James Brune Jr.
93, retired butcher

ATHENS -- Henry James Brune Jr., 93, of Huntsville died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 31, 1907, in St. Louis, Mo., to Henry James Brune Sr. and Eliza Gertrude Schuessler Brune.

Mr. Brune owned and operated Brune's Market, where he was also a butcher. He retired in 1972 and moved to Huntsville in 1998 to live with his grandson.

Survivors include one son, Lester Brune of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Huntsville, 2225 Drake Ave., Huntsville, AL 35805.
