Ira Gordon Crawford
73, retired mechanic

TRINITY -- Funeral for Ira Gordon Crawford, 73, of Trinity will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Wallace officiating.

Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Crawford died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Tippah County, Miss., to Luther Crawford and Mattie Mauney Crawford. He was retired as a maintenance mechanic from Champion International and was member of Mission by the Sea in Alligator Point, Fla. Mr. Crawford was a deacon and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Crawford; one son, Gordon Crawford of Hillsboro; two daughters, Debby Crawford McKellar of San Antonio and Cindy Crawford Miller of Hatton; two sisters, Eva Sue Smith of Elkhart, Ind., and Mary Williams of Goshen, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Don Burke, Page Gilbert, Steve Miller, Ray Hitt, James Reeder and Dewey Crump.

Bennie Ruth Huber
54, homemaker

Funeral for Bennie Ruth Huber, 54, of Decatur will be Friday at noon at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Humphrey officiating.

Burial will be in Adkin Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church an hour before the service.

Mrs. Huber died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at her home. She was born April 30, 1946, in Morgan County to Ben Henry Barker and Ruth Barker. She was a member of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the mass choir. She was a graduate of Morgan County Training School in Hartselle and McKenzie College in Huntsville. She was a homemaker and the widow of John L. Huber.

Survivors include two daughters, Millicent Huber and Brandi Huber, both of Hartselle; her mother of Decatur; one brother, Lee Barker Sr. of Decatur; two sisters, Carolyn Barker and Mildred Hartman, both of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Fletcher, Frederick Cummings, Hershell Mitchell, Richard Rather, Charles Beason and Shelbie Williams.

Charles William Koch
76, retired entomology supervisor

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Charles William Koch, 76, of Decatur will be Saturday at noon at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeri Hunt officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Koch died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Tut Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville. He was born March 3, 1925, in Pennsylvania, to Charles G. Koch and Florence Kull Koch. He was a member of Forest Chapel United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Koch was retired after 42 years from Redstone Arsenal as supervisor of entomology.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Jean Koch; one daughter, Sandi Green of Hartselle; one stepson, Craig Dockery of Hartselle; three brothers, Robert Koch and Fred Koch, both of Harrisburg, Pa., and Jack Koch of Arizona; one sister, Severene Buckley of Kansas City, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brent Green , Craig Dockery, Gary Raper, Jonathan Raper, Terry Honea and Ralph Friend.

Horace Love

Graveside service for Horace Love, 67, of Decatur was to be today, April 12, at noon at Hartselle Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Nick White officiating and Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Love died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1933, in Lacey's Spring.

Survivors include three brothers, Charles Love, Randy Love and Tyrone Love, all of Hartselle.

Family and friends will be pallbearers.

Orville 'Cap' Luna
90, retired farmer

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Orville "Cap" Luna, 90, of Ardmore will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Ardmore with the Rev. Ray Stonecypher and the Rev. Lynn Marshall officiating.

Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery with Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Luna died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at his home. He was born Feb. 9, 1911, to John Luna and Frona Collins Luna. He was the widower of Elease Toone Luna. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include one son, James T. "Bud" Luna of Athens; four daughters, Violet Travis of Toney, and Dean Martin, Gilda Brown and Christine Casteel, all of Ardmore; two sisters, Lucille Smith of Ardmore and Leora Treece of Huntsville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Charles Byron Mitchell
88, retired service station owner

Funeral for Charles Byron Mitchell, 88, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. W.G. Henry and the Rev. Wade Griffith officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Mitchell died Monday, April 9, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Morgan County to Charles Malone Mitchell and Estelle Upchurch Mitchell. He owned and operated Mitchell's Service Station for 50 years and was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He was the brother of Horace Mitchell and Maurene Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Mitchell; one son, Ray Mitchell of Huntsville; one daughter, Patsy Minor of Cleveland, Tenn.; one sister, Margaret Berzett of Decatur; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Russell Millwood, Wilson Mitchell, Jackie Burney, Dr. John Irle, Mark Lovelace, Thomas Ferguson, Don McLemore and George Johnson.

Effie Jane Murphree
64, retired Cottontown Sportswear

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Effie Jane Murphree, 64, of Town Creek was to be today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Town Creek with the Rev. Anthony Muston and the Rev. W. Scott Moore officiating.

Burial was to be in Elmwood Cemetery with Morrison Funeral Home directing. The body was to be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Murphree died Tuesday, April 10, 2001.

She was born in Lawrence County. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Town Creek and was a former employee of Cottontown Sportswear. She was the mother of Talmadge Keith Jeffrey.

She is survived by her husband, Grady Wendell Murphree; one son, Bobby Derek Sherrill of Town Creek; two daughters, Risa Sherrill Fore of Town Creek and Lana Murphree Sparks of Trinity; two brothers, Willard Jeffrey of Town Creek and George Neeley of Nashville; two sisters, Ramona Gillott and Reba Grisham, both of Town Creek; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Brett Jeffreys, Bart Jeffreys, Kevin Grisham, Daryl Grisham, Jeff Muston and Tony Grissom.

Ora Leon Adams
77, Wiley Laboratory retiree
ATHENS -- Funeral for Ora Leon Adams, 77, of Athens, was to be today AT 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Warren Glass officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Adams died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Limestone County to John Everett and Maggie Adams. He was retired from Wiley Laboratory in Huntsville and was a member of Market Street Church of Christ. He was the brother of the late John Adams, Molly Johnson and Sarah Carr.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Adams; one son, John Adams of Maryville, Tenn.; two daughters, Susan Adams of Athens and Anita Wheeler of Elkmont; one brother, Jesse Adams of Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Mattie Ruth Salhoff of Matthews, N.C.

Pallbearers were to be Jimmy Carr, Carmon Griffin, Lifford Smith, Homer Miller, Emmett Coriell and J.C. Conn.

John Anthony Baker

John Anthony Baker, 19, of Baltimore, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001. Sharpley Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Delores Mae Butler
61, homemaker

ATHENS -- Delores Mae Butler, 61, of Harvest, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. The family will receive friends tonight at McConnell Funeral Home from 6 to 8.

The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church in Theressa, Fla., with the Rev. Gene Coons officiating.

Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Theressa with Jones Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Butler was born July 12, 1939, in Morris, Minn., to Lewis Carl Wollitz and Margaret Marlow Wollitz. She and her husband were stationed in several locations with the U.S. Navy prior to moving to Limestone County in 1987. She was a member of the Baptist faith and a member of the Auxiliary Club at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, John Butler; one daughter, Pamela Brunt of Keystone Heights, Fla.; one brother, Bob Wollitz of Bakersfield, Calif.; and two grandsons.

Arthur 'Gwin' Floyd
73, retired banker

ROSSVILLE, Ga. -- Funeral for Arthur "Gwin" Floyd, 73, of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., was Wednesday at Lane Funeral Home's South Crest Chapel with the Rev. Neal Brown officiating.

Burial was in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Mr. Floyd died Monday, April 9, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Morgan County to Bernard L. and Gladys M. Floyd. He was a graduate of Morgan County High School in Hartselle, a World War II Navy veteran and a 1959 graduate of Tennessee Temple University. He was retired from Sovereign Bank, now Bank of America. He was an ordained deacon and taught Bible classes at Central Baptist Church-Woodmore, Ider Baptist Church in Ider, and, until the time of his death, at Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Ringgold. He was the brother of the late Rexford L. Floyd.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Hawkins Floyd; one son, Timothy Lee Floyd of Fort Oglethorpe; two daughters, Phylllis Floyd Haynes of Pisgah Forrest, N.C., and Rita Floyd Brown of Cleveland, Tenn.; two brothers, Kenneth Floyd of Hartselle and Malcom Floyd of Portsmouth, R.I.; three sisters, Melba Floyd Hancock of Decatur, Rebecca Floyd Gulley of Hartselle and Joyce Floyd Blackburn of Tuscaloosa; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

David Lee Gibson
60, Delphi machine operator

Funeral for David Lee Gibson, 60, of Decatur will be Saturday night at 7 at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Ripley officiating.

Entombment will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Gibson died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 18, 1940, in Wyatt, Mo., to Theodore Stewart Gibson and Beatrice Newcomb Gibson. He worked at Delphi for 15 years and was a member of Decatur Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Gibson; one son, Jeff Gibson of Decatur; one daughter, Heather Sparkman of Decatur; two brothers, Russell Gibson and Carl Gibson, both of Granite City, Ill.; three sisters, Merry Hart of Granite City, Ill., Ruth Smith of Miller City, Ill., and Judy White of Memphis; and four grandchildren.

Marlin Glenn Pennington
71, retired TV, radio technician

MOULTON -- Funeral for Marlin Glenn Pennington, 71, of Moulton, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Amos Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Pennington died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at his residence. He was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Mississippi. He was retired as a radio and television technician and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse G. Pennington of Moulton and Kevin L. Pennington of Michigan; two sisters, Ann Hill of Danville and Hilda Stillwell of Moulton; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Freeman, Will Kinard, Jimmy Stillwell, Larry Pennington, Chris Luck and Cary Pennington.
