81, Denbo Iron and Steel retiree

Funeral for Manson "Mutt" Seal, 81, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Lankford officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Seal died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born July 28, 1918, in Russell-ville.

He was a World War II veteran and a member of East End United Methodist Church.

He retired as a supervisor from Denbo Iron and Steel, where he worked for 43 years.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Seal; one son, Ronald Joe Seal of Decatur; one daughter, Judy Brewer of Hartselle; seven brothers, Alpha Seal of Tuscumbia, Edward Seal, Jimmy Seal and Billy Seal, all of Muscle Shoals, Crochen Seal of Colbert Heights, Lendon Seal of Decatur and Don Seal of Cherokee; three sisters, Bulah Gray and Mary Whitlock, both of Russellville, and Gladys Lane of Tharptown; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Halbrooks, Benny Sivley, Wesley Halbrooks, Jeff Seal, Curt Seal, Ray Halbrooks, Spencer Clemons and Dwight Brewer.

Lois M. Story
90, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Lois M. Story, 90, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Sessions and the Rev. Greg Story officiating.

Burial will be in Moss Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Story died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at South Morgan Health Care Center in Decatur.

She was born May 8, 1909, in Morgan County, to Tom and Mattie Ward Speakman.

She was a homemaker and member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Decatur.

She was the widow of Irvin Story.

She is survived by four sons, Gilman Story of Decatur, J.T. Story of Hartselle, Charles Story of Baton Rouge, La., and Jerry Story of Athens; one daughter, Faye Beaver of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; one brother, Simon Speakman of Birmingham; three sisters, Lucy Roberts, Julia Wallace and Virginia Sims, all of Hartselle; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Maggie Nell Davis Coleman
72, homemaker

LEXINGTON, Tenn. -- Funeral for Maggie Nell Davis Coleman, 72, of Amory, Miss., will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pafford Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Old Center Cemetery in Decatursville, Tenn. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Coleman died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Gilmore Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Davidson County, Tenn., to Enos Davis and Gracie Lee Phelps Davis. She lived in Lexington before moving to Smithville, Miss., and eventually on to Amory. She was a homemaker and president of Resident Council of Beverly Health and Rehab in Amory.

She is survived by five sons, Eddie Coleman and James Coleman, both of Lexington, A.J. Coleman of Decatur, and Scottie Coleman and Russell Coleman, both of Jackson, Tenn.; one daughter, Tessie "T.C." Sims of Smithville; two brothers, W.C. Davis of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Enos Harvey Davis Jr. of Chapel Hill, Tenn.; four sisters, Louise Felts of Mount Juliet, Tenn., May Helen Starkley of Murfreesboro, Claire Bell Brewer of Springfield, Tenn., and Vera Mae Head of Fayetteville, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ludie Mae Green hill
88, homemaker

RUSSELLVILLE -- Funeral for Ludie Mae Green hill, 88, of Russellville will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Frankfort Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Boyd Parker and the Rev. Wayne Boyles officiating.

Burial will be in K.P. Cemetery with Akins Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Green hill died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Red Bay Hospital. She was born June 8, 1911, in Colbert County. She was a homemaker and a member of Frankfort Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Artis L. Green hill and the mother of the late William Green hill, Artis Green hill, Danny Green hill and Ronald Green hill, Gladys McGee and an unnamed infant son.

She is survived by four sons, Jerry Green hill of Phoenix, Larry Green hill and Lanny Green hill, both of Russellville, and Donald Green hill of Decatur; seven daughters, Eunice Higgins, Mary Martin and Betty Green hill, all of Russellville, Lila Ponder of Taylor, Mich., Jewel Reinhart of Cleveland, Ohio, Louise Followell of Troy and Gwen Pounders of Phil Campbell; one brother, Roy Reeves of Tuscumbia; two sisters, Dessie Davenport of Muscle Shoals and Betty Landsdale of Sheffield; 39 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Auby C. Griffin
85, retired farmer

CULLMAN -- Graveside service for Auby C. Griffin, 85, of Falkville was to be today at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Hartselle with the Rev. Archie Rayburn officiating and Moss-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Griffin died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at home. He was born May 10, 1914, in Cullman County to Arthur and Aner Lee Waugh Griffin. He was a retired farmer and grandfather of the late Linda Hatcher.

He is survived by his wife, Jewel Griffin; one son, Billy Dean "Bill" Griffin of Simi Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Betty Eugene Haley of Gardendale, Texas; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-step-grandchildren.

Margaret Leona Loggins
78, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Margaret Leona Loggins, 78, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Carl Witty and Robert Fudge officiating.

Burial was to be in Athens City Cemetery.

Mrs. Loggins died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at her home. She was born May 2, 1921, in McMinnville, Tenn. She was a resident of Limestone County for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Ephesus Church of Christ. She was the mother of the late Milton Wesley Loggins.

She is survived by her husband, William Wesley Loggins; one son, Wade Loggins of Athens; two daughters, Anne Shannon and Doris Walker, both of Athens; three brothers, Donald Pirtle, J.C. Pirtle, both of Athens, and Homer Pirtle of Rhode Island; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alan Loggins, Melvin Loggins, Leroy Johnson, Monroe Broadway, Duane Pirtle and Greg Pirtle.

Edward Scott Jr.
54, rolling mills superintendent

RUSSELLVILLE -- Funeral for Edward Scott Jr., 54, of Muscle Shoals will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with James Nichols and Tom Whatley officiating.

Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Scott died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, in Colbert County. He was born in Franklin County. He was a rolling mills superintendent at Wise Metal Co. and a member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Scott; one son, David Scott of Decatur; one daughter, Jill Scott Buchanan of Muscle Shoals; one stepson, Richard Eddy of Florence; his parents, Ed and Lucille Scott of Hodges; one brother, Wathel Scott of Russellville; one sister, Gloria Herring of Hodges; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Elliott Kimbrough, Con Johnson, Carl Harlow, Ray Honey, Larry Highfield and E.W. Brockwell.

Memorials may be made to Mount Olive Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 150, Hodges, AL 35571.

Lewis George Wallace
75, buildng contractor/farmer

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Lewis George Wallace, 75, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Dan Wallace officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Wallace died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at his daughter's residence in Hartselle. He was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Lawrence County to Freeman Wallace and Maime Filiyaw Wallace. He was a veteran of World War II, a building contractor and farmer. He was the widower of Ruth Wallace and brother the late Horace Wallace and Lulene Vest.

He is survived by two sons, Dan Wallace of Dunlap, Tenn., and Kelly Wallace of Cleveland, N.C.; two daughters, Deborah Norman of Hartselle and Kathy Wallace of Decatur; two brothers, Blueitt Wallace and Luther Wallace, both of Hartselle; two sisters, Lorene Lovelady of Decatur and Adene Johnson of Hartselle; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Norman, Peter Norman, Bryan Wallace, Hank Bush, Jeremy Sammons and Donald Parker.

Rev. E.M. Barnes Jr.
83, retired minister
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for the Rev. E.M. Barnes Jr., 83, of Hartselle will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. W.G. Henry, the Rev. W.L. Cole, the Rev. Bert Goodwin and the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Barnes died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born June 16, 1916, in Chambers County to the Rev. Ernest Mobley Barnes Sr. and Lucy Caroline Barnes. He was Pastor Emeritus at First United Methodist Church in Hartselle and was a retired Methodist minister, active from 1940 to 1980.

He was a pastor for Hartselle First United Methodist Church from 1952 to 1957 and 1972 to 1977. During his first term, he assisted in founding West End United Methodist Church in Hartselle. During his second term, he was chairman of Faith of Our Fathers Bicentennial Crusade. He also served as minister of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur from 1965 to1969. He served as District Superintendent of the Albertville District of the United Methodist Church and was pastor of churches in Gadsden, Florence, Trussville, Birmingham and Oneonta. He was awarded the Zeus Award from the Epsilon Sigma Alpha in 1976, and the Humanitarian Award by the Hartselle Chamber of Commerce and the Citizen of the Year Award by the Hartselle Civitan Club in 1990.

He was an active participant in the Hartselle Ministerial Association, served on the board of trustees at Camp Sumatanga and served on the North Alabama Conference Board of Missions. He received his bachelor's degree from Birmingham Southern College and a master of divinity degree from Emory University.

He is survived by his wife, Aline Barnes; one son, Dr. Ernest Mobley Barnes III of Hartselle; two daughters, Judith Berry of Hartselle and Dr. Susan B. Lamb of Savannah, Ga.; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lee Coon, Ike Groover, Sim Howell, Blake Tanner, Fred Langston, Billy Joe Buckelew, Luther Roberts and Paul Strong.
