HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Margie Miles Lavender Wright, 78, of Decatur, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richmond Webster officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Wright died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born July 12, 1922, in Louisiana, to John Wesley Miles and Lena Hoag Miles. She and her first husband, the late Dr. Claude Lavender opened the Lavender Clinic, which was known as Hartselle Hospital, in the late 1950s. Mrs. Wright received her nursing degree from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans. She was past president of Morgan County Medical Auxiliary and was a member of the Decatur Cotillion Club and volunteered with many local charities. Mrs. Wright was the widow of Leo C. Wright.
Survivors include two sons, Claude M. Lavender and Wesley M. Lavender, both of Decatur; two daughters, Betty L. Weaver of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, J.W. Miles of Dallas and Frances Lee Miles of Crowley, La.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Bingham Edwards, Doug Street, Randy Perkins, Howard Belser, Sonny Craig and the Rev. Charlie McKimmon.
Memorials may be made to the St. John's Episcopal Church or the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Almon died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born March 13, 1913, in Morgan County to John Benford Mullins and Eunice Ward Mullins. She was a homemaker and a member of Town Creek Methodist Church. She was the widow of Henry Almon.
Survivors include one son, Gordon Almon of Town Creek; one brother, Frank Mullins of Hartselle; and one sister, Earline Morton of Tuscumbia.
David Lee Gibson

Funeral for David Lee Gibson, 60, of Decatur will be tonight at 7 at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Ripley officiating.
Entombment will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
Mr. Gibson died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 18, 1940, in Wyatt, Mo., to Theodore Stewart Gibson and Beatrice Newcomb Gibson. He was a machine operator at Delphi Automotive Systems for 15 years and was a member of Decatur Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Gibson; one son, Jeff Gibson of Decatur; one daughter, Heather Sparkman of Decatur; two brothers, Russell Gibson and Carl Gibson, both of Granite City, Ill.; three sisters, Merry Hart of Granite City, Ruth Smith of Miller City, Ill., and Judy White of Memphis; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Long died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, in Caldwell. He was born July 15, 1946, in Decatur to Arle and Annie Long. He was a rancher and a truck driver. He was the brother of the late Richard Orvil Long.
Survivors include three sons, Arle Long and Kevin Long, both of Caldwell, and Justin Long of Decatur; one brother, Prentis Milam Long of Hartselle; one sister, Melba Ann Goodwin of Hillsboro; and two grandchildren.
Arthur Oscar Sheffey

Funeral for Arthur Oscar Sheffey, 95, of Moulton will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. H.N. Snodgrass officiating.
Burial will be in Northside Cemetery in Huntsville.
Mr. Sheffey died Monday, April 9, 2001, at South Morgan Health Care Center. He was born Jan. 7, 1906, in Morgan County to Arthur O. Sheffey and Daisy Winn Sheffey. He lived in Cleveland, where he worked at Thompson Industrial Co. before returning to Alabama.
Survivors include one sister, Cynthia Jefferson of Denver.
Nephews and friends will be pallbearers.

Mrs. Clark died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born March 9, 1917, in Lawrence County to Arthur Cosby and Susie Swoope Cosby. A homemaker, she lived in Louisville, Ky., for many years and was a member of Burnette Avenue Baptist Church. Later she returned to Lawrence County and joined First Baptist Church of Courtland. She was the widow of Herbert Clark.
Survivors include one sister, Dinah Coach of Huntsville.
Pallbearers will be Johnathan Orr, Willie Orr, Eric Orr, Lamont Jones and Albert Jones.
Grace Louise Jones Crovo

Mrs. Crovo died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Mobile to William Jones and Leila Cain Jones. She was employed by the state Department of Pensions and Security for 15 years.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Paul Crovo Sr.; two sons, Kevin Crovo of Birmingham and Edward Paul Crovo Jr. of Houston; one daughter, Kim Plousard of Decatur; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

William C. Erwin Jr.

Mr. Erwin died Thursday, April 12, 2001, in Carrollton. He was born July 10, 1924, in Victoria County, Texas, to William C. Erwin and Elizabeth Thieme Erwin. He was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired accountant for Amoco Chemicals and worked for several years at the Decatur plant.
Survivors include his wife, Jean F. Erwin; two sons, Michael L. Erwin of Carrollton and W. Gary Erwin of Ardmore, Pa.; one brother, Kenneth Erwin of Corpus Christi, Texas; and four grandchildren.
William M. Patton

Mr. Patton died April 5, 2001, at his home. He was born June 1, 1911, in Madison County to Willie Patton and Mattie Polk. A member of King's Memorial United Methodist Church, he was lead singer for the Silvertones Quintet for 40 years. He delivered ice for Home Ice Co. and worked at Decatur Box and Basket.
Survivors include several cousins.

Mrs. Almon died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born July 13, 1907, to J.R. Agee and Henritta Simmons Agee in Lawrence County. She was the director of the art department at Decatur High School and a member of Central United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Kappa Kappa Iota sorority, the Decatur Garden Club and the Mothers Club. She was the widow of William Misher Almon Sr.
Survivors include one son, William M. Almon of Decatur; two brothers, Ralph Agee of Decatur and Joe Agee of Montgomery; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Kellett, Billy Agee, Bill Almon, Link Almon, Jerry Thomas and Fred Agee.

Survivors include her husband, Oakley A. Cole; five sons, Walter E. Cole, Charles A. Cole, Mark S. Cole, Oakley L. Cole and Phillip A. Cole, all of Decatur; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Gray died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at National Health Care of Moulton. She was born April 17, 1922, in Etowah County. She was the fourth daughter of Peter L. Wagnon and Alice Vivian Bernard Wagnon. She was retired from South Central Bell, now BellSouth Communications. She was a member of Operator Services in Sheffield from 1953 until 1971. She transferred to the Decatur District Traffic Office in September 1971, as district instructor. She retired in 1974. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday school and the Women's Missionary Union. She also was active in the Telephone Pioneers and Committee on Church Cooperation.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years William L. "Bill" Gray Sr.; one son, William L. "Bill" Gray Jr. of Marietta, Ga.; one sister, Dorothy McCullars of Otachee; and one grandson.
Pallbearers will be David Pennington, Wade Wooley, Earl Bendit, Ralph Burns, David Matherly and Ray Thompson.
