Levi Cole Kirby

MOULTON -- Funeral for Levi Cole Kirby, 5 weeks, of Moulton will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Hall and the Rev. Carroll Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service.

The infant died Friday, April 13, 2001, at his home. He was born March 9, 2001, in Morgan County to Ronnie Kirby and Tanya Keenum.

Survivors include his parents of Moulton; one brother, Jeremy Kirby of Moulton; and his grandparents, Charlie and Kim Keenum of Decatur, James and Tammy Reeves of Decatur, Carl and Wanda Kirby of Kentucky, and Wayne Kirby of Moulton.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Keenum and Timmy Kirby.

Robert Wilson Landers
84, retired welder

ATHENS -- Funeral for Robert Wilson Landers, 84, of Prospect, Tenn., and formerly of Decatur, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Terry Jackson officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Landers died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born May 16, 1916, in Morgan County. He was a retired welder from Freuhauf Corporation in Decatur and was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include three sons, Ed Landers of McMinnville, Tenn., Ray Landers of Prospect, Tenn. and Mark Landers of Tanner; two daughters, Bobi Landers of Prospect, Tenn., and Beverly Perry of Athens; one brother, Lewis Landers of Trinity; one sister, Mable Tanner of Hartselle; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Alfred Orr London
85, retired manager and district supervisor of A&P Food

ATHENS -- Funeral for Alfred Orr London, 85, of Dothan and formerly of Athens, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Robert Sharman III officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with McConnell Funeral Home directing.. The family will receive friends in the Rogers Center at the church two hours before the service.

Mr. London died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was born May 29, 1915, in Farmington, Tenn., to Ollie London and Allie Mae Orr London. A resident of Athens most his life, he worked as manager and district supervisor of A&P Food Stores for 45 years. He was a World War II Army veteran who served in the European Theater as an ordinance sergeant. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, he was on the board of deacons and the board of elders and served as superintendent of Sunday school. He was a member of several district-level scouting committees and served as cubmaster and scoutmaster.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Josephine Griffin London; one son, David London of Marietta, Ga.; one daughter, Jo Ellen Green haw of Athens; one sister, Edethen Speake of Florence; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Theo Calvin, Chad Green haw, Jimmy Corder, Clint Green haw, Greg Green haw and Ronnie Moore.

Whitt Douglas Pepper
77, Wolverine retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for Whitt Douglas Pepper, 77, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Steve Mosley and Norm Webb officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery in Athens.

Mr. Pepper died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Oct. 31, 1923, in Limestone County. An elder of Corinth Church of Christ, he was retired from Wolverine Tube Inc. He was a former member of the board of directors for Athens Bible School. He was father of Andy Davis Pepper and brother of John Daniel Pepper, James Hector Pepper, William Franklin Pepper, Theo Mitchell Pepper and Mary Alma Vasser.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Davis Pepper; two daughters, Dewinna Griffin of Pelham and Nancy Thornton of Athens; two brothers, Mason Pepper and Milton Pepper, both of Athens; and six sisters, Julia Winston and Clara Tribble, both of Madison, Rebecca Schrimsher, Isabelle Parvin and Dorothy Pepper, all of Athens, and Sophie Johnson of Childersburg; two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Mark Pepper, Wayne Tribble, Jerry Pepper, Alan Bullington, Al Robison and Rodney Parvin.

Memorials may be made to Athens Bible School.

John Anthony Baker
19, student

Funeral for John Anthony Baker, 19, of Baltimore, Md., will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. Leon Madden officiating.

Burial will be in Early Pastor Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Baker died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, in Baltimore. He was born Sept. 10, 1981, in Anniston to Charlene Baker. He spent much of his life traveling the United States and Europe, where he received his education as an honor student. He attended Emmanuel Convent Church in Hayattsville, Md.

He is survived by his mother of Baltimore; two brothers, Frank Baker and Eric Baker, both of Baltimore; and his grandmother, Jessie Lee Baker of Chattanooga.

His aunt is the Rev. Doris Baker of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Frank Baker, Eric Baker, Willie Baker, Carlos Emerson, Tarik Jackson and Ivory Harris.

Harriet Denise Moultrie Camejo
39, public affairs officer

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- Funeral for Harriet Denise Moultrie Camejo, 39, of Warner Robins and formerly of Decatur, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with the Rev. David Brighton and Michael J. Moultrie officiating.

Burial will be in Parkway Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Camejo died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Houston Medical Center. She was born March 15, 1962, in Memphis to James Moultrie and Georgia Bungard Moultrie. She served 15 years in the U.S. Air Force, reaching the rank of major. She was chief of public affairs at Robins Air Force Base and a life member and officer of the Air Force Association. She was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. While in the Air Force, she received these awards: Best Company Grade Public Affairs Officer, Chief of Best Public Affairs Office, Meritorious Service Medal Second Oak Leaf Cluster, and Air Force Commendation Medal First Oak Leaf Cluster. She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. She was the sister of Jonathan Andrew Moultrie.

Survivors include her husband, Pedro Camejo; two sons, Alex Camejo and Aron Camejo, both of Warner Robins; one daughter, Miriam Camejo of Warner Robins; her father and mother, both of Hiawassee, Ga.; and one brother, Michael J. Moultrie of Cleveland, Tenn.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Central Georgia District Bibb Unit, P.O. Willie Grace Kemp Cross
89, retired nurse

WINONA, Miss. -- Funeral for Willie Grace Kemp Cross, 89, of Athens was Monday at Oliver Funeral Home with Reidis Nash officiating. Spry Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona.

Mrs. Cross died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She retired as a nurse from Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Winona Baptist Temple. She was the widow of Letau Cross and the mother of Donald Cross and Douglas Cross.

Survivors include three sons, Barry Cross of Hernando, Miss., John Cross of Memphis and David Cross; two daughters, Carol Cross Malone of Athens and Pamela Cross Ricci of Limerick, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Anthony Malone, Frank Malone, DeWayne Cross, James Cross, Phillip Cross, Rodney Cross, Johnny Cross and Dave Cross.

Memorials may be made to Emmaus Community and the American Cancer Society.

Debra Yvonne Jackson Tucker

Funeral for Debra Yvonne Jackson Tucker, 44, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Stephen Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Rice officiating.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Mausoleum with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Tucker died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at her home. She was born June 5, 1956, in Morgan County to Floyd Jackson and Sallie Miller Jackson. She worked with Meals on Wheels and at the Country Inn & Suites as a cook. She was the sister of Floyd Jackson Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Mario Morris of Nashville and Sherman Morris Jr. of Decatur; four daughters, Litora Morris of Huntsville, and Turquoise Tucker, Jasmine Tucker, and Dominique Tucker, all of Decatur; six brothers, Willie Rice of Clarksville, Tenn., and the Rev .Samuel Rice, John Rice, Curtis Jackson, Alvin Jackson, and Avery Jackson, all of Decatur; nine sisters, JoAnn Jackson and Emily Guzman, both of Huntsville, Jane Parr of Austin, Texas, and Veronica Williams, Brenda Nash, Sharon Whitfield, Wilma Jackson, Pamela Jackson, and Vivian Powell, all of Decatur; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sherman Morris Jr., Clarence Atkins, Greg Scruggs, Charles Owens, Terry Tucker and James Bridgeforth.

Sarah L. Waits
75, retired schoolteacher

DAYTON, Ohio -- Funeral for Sarah L. Waits, 75, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and formerly of Hartselle, will be Thursday at 11:30 at Tobias Funeral Home Grange Hall with the Rev. Sam Hollingsworth and the Rev. Duard Bowron officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Shoup Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Waits died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Kettering Medical Center. She was born May 13, 1925, in Hartselle to Jacob Leeman and Gertrude Leeman. She was the widow of Everett Waits and was a retired schoolteacher.

Survivors include one son, Dwight Lee Waits of Beaver Creek; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Herbert and Carol Jean Ballard, both of Beaver Creek; and three grandchildren.

Doris Carlene Westbrook
83, retired sales clerk

TRUSSVILLE -- Funeral for Doris Carlene Westbrook, 83, of Birmingham will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Birmingham with the Rev. John R. Williamson officiating.

Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery East in Birmingham with Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Westbrook died Sunday, April 15, 2001, in Birmingham. She was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Columbus, Miss., to George Wilkerson and Alice Wilkerson. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and a retired Dollar Shoe Store retail sales clerk in Birmingham.

Survivors include her husband, Rabon Westbrook; two sons, H. Wade Westbrook of Olive Branch, Miss., and Larry Westbrook of Decatur; one sister, AllieVee Ballard of Birmingham; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Norma Jean Shelton Whitman
68, Chrysler retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for Norma Jean Shelton Whitman, 68, of Madison will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Guay officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.

Mrs. Whitman died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Nashville to William Spivey Shelton and Mable Marie Gary Shelton. She was a technician who retired from Chrysler Corporation after 20 years of service. She was a member of Restoration Four Square Gospel Church in Madison.

Survivors include one son, Carmen Cacioppo of Madison; two daughters, Tina Marie DiMonte of Birmingham and Rita Ann Thornberry of Chickamauga, Ga.; two sisters, Patricia Ann Martin of Athens and Shirley Marie Wenzel of Yucca Valley, Calif.

James Marcus Alvis

TRINITY -- Funeral for James Marcus Alvis, 52, of Moulton will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Evans officiating.

Mr. Alvis died Monday, April 16, 2001, at his home. He was born July 30, 1948, in Lawrence County to Milton Kilgoar Alvis and Hazelle Marie Alvis. He was a Baptist, a brickmason and member of Allied Craftworkers Local No. 1.

Survivors include his wife, Victoria Alvis; one son, James Randall Alvis of Rock Hill, S.C.; three daughters, Trina Hunter and Tammy Alvis, both of Rock Hill, and Kimberly Alvis of Tampa, Fla.; his mother of Moulton; two stepsons, David Chitwood of Chandler, N.C., and James Chitwood of Newberry, S.C.; one stepdaughter, Kelly Chitwood of Newberry; one brother, John R. Alvis of Smithfield, Va.; four sisters, Mary Kathrine Johnston, Joyce Lee Williams and Linda Kaye Morris, all of Little Rock, Ark., and Janie Miller of Trinity; six grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
