Lucy Mae McCombs Robbins
85, Sunday school teacher

Funeral for Lucy Mae McCombs Robbins, 85, of Decatur was to be today at 1 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Sessions and the Rev. Windell Shirley officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Robbins died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Bradford to Walter Parham McCombs and Eva Mae Self McCombs. She married Grady Robbins on Nov. 9, 1935, and moved from Birmingham to Decatur in February 1941. She was the last charter member of Decatur First Church of the Nazarene, which was organized in 1945. A former resident of Presbyterian Towers, she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the former Austinville School Parent-Teacher Association. She was the great-grandmother of the late Matthew Clark Johnson.

Survivors include two daughters, Melba Jean Clark and Patricia Ann Stout, both of Decatur; three sisters, Margaret Thacker and Marie Lawson, both of Birmingham, and Bonnie Posey of Alabaster; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Michael G. Clark, Mark Clark, Robbie Stout, Andral Johnson, Sean Carr, Ralph Evans, the Rev. Red Clark and Joe Kelley.

Earlie Mae Strawbridge
84, homemaker

HANCEVILLE -- Funeral for Earlie Mae Strawbridge, 84, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Odie Curvin and the Rev. Royce Teague officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Hanceville Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before services.

Mrs. Strawbridge died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born May 1, 1916, at Bear Creek to Justin Hutchins Croger and Lindy Revis Croger. She was a homemaker and the widow of Elbert Strawbridge.

Survivors include three sons, Charlie Strawbridge of Birmingham, James Bufford Strawbridge of Nashville, Ga., and Mitchell Strawbridge of Rossville, Ga.; five daughters, Pearl Curvin of Vinemont, Ardie Lecompt of Nashville, Ga., Vedmer "Pat" Poodry of Hanceville, Gertrude Sellers of Tampa, Fla., and Vida Duke of Somerville; 28 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Strawbridge, Jeff Strawbridge and Mike Strawbridge, Robbie Duke, Mike Niecce and Robert Curvin.

Littie Mae Chambers
86, homemaker
ATHENS -- Funeral for Littie Mae Chambers, 86, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Bud White officiating.

Burial was to be in Dement Cemetery.

Miss. Chambers died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at her home.

She was born May 29, 1914, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Church of Christ. She was the sister of Martha Bell Poff, James Chambers and Wallace Chambers.

Survivors include five sisters, Mattie Higginbotham, Lucille Holt, Margaret Garner, Mary Swanner and Ruth Fisk, all of Athens.

Jerry Fisk, Wade Fisk, Keith Fisk, Danny Fisk, Donnie Holt and Mike McCurry were to be pallbearers.

Michael E. Durbin
56, retired police officer

Funeral for Michael E. Durbin, 56, of Decatur was to be today at 2:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home.

Burial was to be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Durbin died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at his home.

He was born May 23, 1944, in Indiana to Terry Durbin and Lovie Guntharp Durbin. He was an officer in the Decatur Police Department for 25 years and was the former police chief of Trinity.

Survivors include two sons, Adam Wayne Dadswell of England and Patrick Wade Durbin of Danville; one brother, Marcus Durbin of Union City, Ind.; two sisters, Janice Bird of Muncie, Ind., and Terra Durbin of Lansing, Mich.; and two grandchildren.

Officers of the Decatur Police Department were to be pallbearers.

Nellon Frances Hill
79, licensed practical nurse

Funeral for Nellon Frances Hill, 79, of Williston, Fla., will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hill died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Nature Coast Hospital in Williston.

She was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Decatur to Herbert Holmes and Pearly Frances Williams Holmes. She was a licensed practical nurse.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Ledbetter of Lacey's Spring and Steve Warren of Hobart, Ind.; three daughters, Betty Hughes of Hollywood, Fla., Carolyn Ward of Williston and Sheila Schomisch of St. Claire, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Donna Serda of Hartselle; one brother, Terry Holmes of Moulton; one sister, Versie Haynie of Hartselle; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Raymond H. Lockwood
78, chef

Memorial service for Raymond H. Lockwood, 78, of Orange Park, Fla., will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Caddo Congregational Christian Church.

Shelton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lockwood died Wednesday, April 11, 2001. He was born in 1922 in Florida to S.J. Lockwood and Mollie Standridge Lockwood. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a chef in the food service business.

Survivors include three children; one brother, James Tennis Lockwood of Wyoming, Iowa; one sister, Faye Lockwood Segars of Trinity; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

William Don 'Donnie' Terry
55, service station manager

SHEFFIELD -- Funeral for William Don "Donnie" Terry, 55, of Sheffield was to be today at 2 p.m. at Jones Chapel with James W. Lyell officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Burial was to be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Terry died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at his son's home in Vincent.

He was born in Leighton. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam War and was a service station manager. He was the father of Mike Terry.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie Terry of Birmingham and Kevin Terry; three brothers, Charles Terry of Lacey's Spring, Carl Terry of Tuscumbia and Gordon Terry of Nitrate City; four sisters, Carole Hall of Arab, Linda Sue Collier of Muscle Shoals, Anita Reynolds of Nitrate City and Marilyn Montgomery of Moulton; and five grandchildren.

Chester Gibson
75, heavy equipment operator

Funeral for Chester Gibson, 75, of Decatur will be today at 3 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Brady McCullough officiating.

Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Gibson died Friday, April 20, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Geneva County to Mack Gibson and Viola Bryant Gibson. He was a retired heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include one son, James Gibson of Decatur; two daughters, Barbara Sperr of Huntsville and Faye Crow of Smithville, Va.; two brothers, Esker Gibson and Vester Gibson, both of Eustis, Fla.; one sister, Viola Mason of De Funiak Springs, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Raymond Lockwood
78, chef

Burial will be in Calvary Memorial Gardens with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 6 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McGahee died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Akron General Hospital in Akron, Ohio. She was born Dec. 26, 1915, in Town Creek to Otto Shaw and Danella Valentine Shaw. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she participated in Club No. 2.

Survivors include two sons, Leroy Goodwin and Oscar Goodwin, both of Decatur; two daughters, Bessie Lee Sanders of Decatur and Haley Shepherd of Akron; 16 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Frances Miller
66, homemaker

BOAZ -- Funeral for Mary Frances Miller, 66, of Boaz will be today at 11 a.m. at Boaz Carr Funeral Home with the Rev. A.D. Stephens officiating.

Burial will be in Argo Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at her home. She was born Nov. 6, 1934, in Jefferson County to James Fincher and Alma Barker Fincher. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Breed and Steven Easter, both of Boaz; one daughter, Lisa McWhorter of Albertville; two brothers, Horace Fincher of Lytle, Texas, and Wayne "Snook" Fincher of Decatur; six grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joey Hall, James Gillilan, Robbie Strickland, Steven Culbert, Joshua Wilson and James Harris.

Lavoyd Wilson Moore
63, minister

ATHENS -- Funeral for Lavoyd Wilson Moore, 63, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Apostolic Christian Church with the Rev. Tom Schrenk and the Rev. Wendall Gudeman officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Moore died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Limestone County to Woodrow Moore and Virgie Brummitt Moore. He was a minister and elder of Apostolic Christian Church. He was ordained in 1964 and was active in mission work. He also was an Athens businessman.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Moore; four sons, Mike Moore, Jeff Moore, Randy Moore and John Moore, all of Athens; three brothers, William Moore and Danny Moore, both of Hartselle, and Steve Moore of Trinity; three sisters, Angie Champion of Somerville, Fran Rhynes of Mississippi and Cora Hanns of Joppa; two stepbrothers, Donald Sparks of Cullman and Buddy Wilson of Somerville; two stepsisters, Carolyn Cluxton of Cullman and Mary Hitt of Huntsville; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Moore, Jeff Moore, Randy Moore, John Moore, Blake Moore, Matthew Moore and Luke Moore.

Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Church, 15318 Hastings Road, Athens, AL 35613.
