James Robert 'Bobby' Letson
52, former restaurant worker

Graveside service for James Robert "Bobby" Letson, 52, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Letson and the Rev. Gene Lankford officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Mr. Letson died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 5, 1948, in Decatur to James Travis Letson and Edith Davis Letson. He was a Methodist and worked with his family in the restaurant business at Letson's Ranch House, now City Café.

Survivors include his mother of Decatur; one brother, Tim Letson of Decatur; two sisters, Brenda Suggs and Kay Stevens, both of Decatur; and his grandmother, Nola Davis of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Don Suggs, Roger Stevens, Jason Dugger, Bob Conner III, Mark Conner, Steve Conner, Lance Conner, and Brian McLemore.

Floyd W. McCollum Sr.
77, retired construction company president

EASTON, Pa. -- Funeral for Floyd W. McCollum Sr. of Clermont, Fla., will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Palmer Moravian Church with the Rev. Doug Kleintop officiating.

Burial will be in Northhampton Memorial Shrine with Ashton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. McCollum died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in Orlando, Fla. He was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Hazel Green to George E. McCollum and Betty Mitchell Towry McCollum. He retired as president of FAM Construction Inc., in Easton. He was formerly plant manager of J.T. Baker Chemical Co. in Phillipsburg, N.J. He was a member of Palmer Moravian Church and past president of Easton Kiwanis Club. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering in 1945 from Georgia Tech and a masters degree in 1952 from Johns Hopkins University. He was the brother of the late J.B. McCollum and the late Mildred Buffalo.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ann Weber McCollum; one son, Floyd W. "Dusty" McCollum Jr., of Celebration, Fla.; three daughters, Diane McCollum of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Linda Fisher and Susan Knobloch, both of Easton; two brothers, Paul McCollum of Yuma, Ariz., and Allen McCollum of Decatur; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Troy Wayne Rhodes
27, real estate salesman

FLORENCE -- Funeral for Troy Wayne Rhodes, 27, of Virginia Beach, Va., will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Central Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Jones and Dr. J.D. Norris Jr. officiating and Spry Funeral Home and Altmeyer Funeral Home of Virginia Beach directing.

Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 9 at Spry Funeral Home.

Mr. Rhodes died Saturday, May 12, 2001, in Virginia Beach. He was born Oct. 23, 1973, in Florence to Glenn Edward Rhodes and Patricia Rhodes. He was a real estate salesman and the grandson of the late Glynn "Pete" Lard and Denver Rhodes.

Survivors include his wife, Nichole Rhodes; three children, Jamie Carson and Alex Carson and Madison Rhodes, all of Virginia Beach; his mother, Patricia Lard Fodale of Decatur; his father, Glenn Edward Rhodes of Florence; one brother, David Glenn Rhodes of Florence; and his grandmothers, Margaret Lard and Louise Rhodes, both of Florence.

Memorials may be made to his wife and children at 5792 Green wich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.

Alease Stevenson
59, homemaker

TANNER -- Funeral for Alease Stevenson, 59, of Prospect, Tenn., will be Saturday at noon at Tabernacle Church in Pulaski, Tenn., with the Rev. Jerry Gardner officiating.

Burial will be in Blanche Cemetery in Blanche, Tenn., with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Miss. Stevenson died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. She was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Giles County. She was a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late John Williams Stevenson.

Survivors include two sons, James Stevenson of Canton, Ohio, and Jeffery Stevenson of Fayetteville, Tenn.; three daughters, Patricia Stevenson of Ardmore, Tenn., Doris Stevenson of Huntsville and Tina Coleman of Prospect, Tenn.; her mother, Ora Crutcher of Ardmore; four brothers, John Stevenson of Clarksville, Tenn., June Stevenson of Nashville, Calvin Stevenson of Elkton, Tenn. and James Stevenson of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Ora Mae Sherrell and Nora Short, both of Canton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Julia Hill Gregory
87, retired teacher

ALBERTVILLE -- Graveside service for Julia Hill Gregory, 87, of Oneonta will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Douglas Cemetery in Douglas with the Rev. Billy Stephenson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 at Albertville Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gregory died Wednesday, May 16, 2001. She was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Douglas to J.E. Hill and Mamie Hill. She had been a resident of Decatur for the past nine years. She was the widow of Lowell Gregory, the sister of the late Lucy Staine and Eulon Ray and Buck Hill. She was a resident of Oneonta for 42 years and was an active member of Lester Memorial United Methodist Church. She served as president of Oneonta Elementary PTA, president of the Amicus Study Club, a member of the Rose Garden Club and a volunteer for American Red Cross blood drives. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. Mrs. Gregory graduated from Douglas High School in 1933. She attended Jacksonville State Teachers College where she played on the women's basketball team. She taught and coached basketball at Union Grove School in Marshall County.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Gregory of Decatur and Jody Gregory of Columbia, S.C.; one daughter, Nancy Gamble of Tuscaloosa; one sister, Lorraine Coleman of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Grandchildren will be pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be staff of Riverside Assisted Living, Dr. Katherine Clark and the staff of Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Valley.

Ulyes Grant Hayes
75, retired security guard

ADDISON -- Funeral for Ulyes Grant Hayes, 75, of Addison will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Addison Church of God with the Rev. Robert Partridge officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Nichols Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the church.

Mr. Hayes died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born June 22, 1925, in Lawrence County, Tenn., to Jessie George Hayes and Savannah Borden Hayes. He retired as a security guard from Southern Energy Homes.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Hayes; two sons, Grant Hayes and Greg Hayes, both of Addison; two daughters, Retha Kilgo and Gail Wilkins, both of Addison; one brother, Odie Hayes of Addison; three sisters, Ruby McCrary of Griffith, Ind., and Thelma Jarrett and Ula Jean Parris, both of Addison; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Hayden Hayes, Johnny Jarrett, Ronnie Jarrett, Donald McCrary, Tyler Hayes and Shane Bishop.

Ruby Thompson Hill

Graveside service for Ruby Thompson Hill of Decatur was to be today at 11 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Hugh Bohlin officiating.

Mrs. Hill died Tuesday, May 15, 2001. She was born in Lawrence County to John T. Thompson and Tandy Vest Thompson.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were to be Hal Watkins, Kirk Watkins, Lee Watkins, David Thompson, Larry Murray, and Todd Roby.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Ridge Baptist Church, 2612 Modaus Road S.W., Decatur, AL 35603.

Donald E. Holmes
38, auditor

Funeral for Donald Edward Holmes, 38, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Mark Posey and Chris Presnell officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Holmes died Tuesday, May 15, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 30, 1963, in Portsmouth, Va., to Harry C. and Nona Holmes of Decatur. He was employed as a night auditor at Holiday Inn and received his bachelor's degree in biblical studies from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn. He was a member of Austinville Church of Christ.

Survivors include his parents; grandparents Evelyn Grinfin of Athens and Alice and Harry Holmes of Gainesville, Fla.; his wife, Patrice Holmes; one son, Andrew Holmes of Decatur; two brothers, David Holmes of Glasgow, Mont., and Jeffrey Holmes of Hartselle; two sisters, Pamela Jenkins of Decatur and Sherri Smith of Tuscaloosa.

Pallbearers will be Richard Harden, David Hester, Roger Richardson, David Florida, Mike Fuller, Jamie Handley, Jeff Bowen and Brian Mooney.

Minnie Bedingfield Key
84, homemaker

SARALAND -- Funeral for Minnie Bedingfield Key, 84, of Mobile will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland.

Burial will be in the Wilson Annex of Whistler Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Key died Wednesday, May 15, 2001, in Mobile. She was born March 24, 1917, in Dallas, Texas, to Luther Cosby and Caroline Cosby. She was reared in Athens and Rogersville. She is the widow of Egbert Bedingfield and Odie Key. She was the mother of the late Danny Bedingfield. She was a homemaker and a resident of Mobile for the past 54 years.

Survivors include five sons, Jimmie Bedingfield of Pacific, Wash., Jerry Bedingfield of San Antonio, Texas, Allen Bedingfield of Pearl, Miss., and Roger Bedingfield and Joe Bedingfield, both of Mobile; four daughters, Shirley Forton of Decatur, Gayle Hall of Raleigh, N.C., Jeanette Williams of Staunton, Va., and Becky Bedingfield of Mobile; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

William Clark Letson
81, Reynolds Metals retiree

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for William Clark Letson, 81, of Town Creek will be Friday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Town Creek with the Rev. C.G. Redding and the Rev. Scott Moore officiating and Morrison Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Letson died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at his home. He was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Lawrence County to Melvin Letson and Bertha Leatherwood Letson. A veteran of World War II, he was retired from Reynolds Metals. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was the widower of Jean Letson.

Survivors include one son, Randy Letson of Town Creek; one daughter, Carol Tate of Town Creek; one sister, Kylie Smith of Moulton; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one step-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Derriel Burney, Telford Copeland, Terrell Copeland, Waymon Bain, Dempsey Copeland, Eric Bradford and Ronald Smith.

The deacons of First Baptist Church and members of the adult men's Sunday school class will be honorary pallbearers.

Harry W. 'Buddy' Lowber
59, Dunlop Tire retiree

Funeral for Harry W. "Buddy" Lowber, 59, of Priceville will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Warren officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lowber died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at his home. He was born Feb. 17, 1942, in Decatur to Harry Lowber and Rebecca Lowber. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a retired employee of Dunlop Tire Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Lowber; two sons, Brad Lowber of Decatur and Tommy Coulter of Olive Branch, Miss.; one daughter, Jennifer Hartzell of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Sissy Grisham of Yazoo City, Miss.; and three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Daryl Smith, Loyd Boggans, Wayne Faulk, Horace Crow, Buddy French, David Cockrell, Robbie Oakley and Pete Owens.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley-Morgan County.

Arthur F. Parker Jr.
75, Eastern Airlines retiree

Funeral for Arthur F. Parker Jr., 75, of Hartselle will be Friday at 4 p.m. at Central Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Carlisle officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church an hour before the service.

Mr. Parker died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at his home. He was born May 3, 1926, in Lawrence County to Arthur F. Parker Sr. and Ida Thompson Parker. He was an Eastern Airlines retiree and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Central Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Othella Parker; one son, Royce C. Parker; one daughter, Linda Parker Ray; one brother, Donald Parker of Moulton; one sister, Christine Culver of Michigan; and four grandchildren.

Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.
