Pauline L. Hale McMillian
79, retired nurse's aide

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Pauline L. Hale McMillian, 79, of Rio Linda, Calif., formerly of Falkville, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred McMillian officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. McMillian died May 14, 2001, at her home. She was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Morgan County to William Columbus Brown and Lora B. Knighten Brown. She married Lester Hale in 1940; they had four children. After his death, she moved to San Francisco in 1953 and married Robert McMillian; they had three children. She moved to Rio Linda in 1977. She was a retired nurse's aide. She was the mother of the late Shirley Ann Hale.

Survivors include four sons Gerald Hale and Jim McMillian, both of Rio Linda, Fred McMillian of Independence, Oregon, and John McMillian of Dallas, Oregon; two daughters, Gail Smith of Falkville and Wilda Wright of Rio Linda; one brother, Lavert Brown of Ohio; one sister, Lillian Lindsey of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Andrew Sam 'Andy' Molaro Jr.
39, teacher

Funeral for Andrew Sam "Andy" Molaro Jr., 39, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Jim Clark officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Molaro died Monday, May 21, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1961, in Decatur to Andrew Sam Molaro Sr. and Bernice L. Molaro. He was a graduate of Athens State University and received his master's degree from Alabama A&M University. He was a teacher in Limestone County and a member of Decatur Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Molaro; one son, Andrew Scott Molaro of Decatur; his mother of Decatur; and two sisters, Sandra Dugger and Vicki Molaro, both of Decatur.

Pallbearers were to be Andy Sittason, Daryl Alred, Glenn Dugger, Tim Bargas, Danny Bosher and Brian Gafford.

Clara 'Kem' Bartlett
83, retired teacher and band director
ARDMORE -- Graveside service for Clara "Kem" Bartlett, 83, of Ardmore will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Collinsville Cemetery in Collinsville with Frank Teal officiating and Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home directing local arrangements.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the Ardmore funeral home and Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Collinsville Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bartlett died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Valley View Nursing Home in Madison. She was born Sept. 11, 1917, in Calloway County, Ky. She graduated from Murray State College with degrees in English and music. She taught school and directed bands at Collinsville and Ardmore High School. After retirement, she served on the board of directors of the Limestone County Mental Health Association.

Survivors include her husband, Frank K. Barlett; two daughters, Kathy McCown of Huntsville and Barbara Daly of Elkmont; one sister, Ruth Hobbs of Pulaski, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Limestone County Mental Health Association.

Helen Winsett Blanton
68, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Helen Winsett Blanton, 68, of Locust Fork will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion Cemetery in Morgan County with the Rev. Craig Johnson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blanton died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Medical Center East in Birmingham. She was born Aug. 23, 1932, in Morgan County to Clarence Winsett and Ira Ann Swann Winsett. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Blanton; one daughter, Terri Lynn Blanton of Locust Fork; and one sister, Carolyn Albright of Northport.

Pallbearers will be Brian Albright, Larry Pike, Josh Pike, Clay Pike and Andy Pugh.

Johnnie Jeanette 'Nettie' Chunn Harwell
91, retired insurance agent

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Johnnie Jeanette "Nettie" Chunn Harwell, 91, of Somerville will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Ledlow and the Rev. Chris Godbee officiating.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harwell died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at her home. She was born Dec. 7, 1909, in Morgan County to John W. Chunn and Neice Elizabeth Turney Chunn. She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a retired insurance agent for Preferred Risk Insurance Company and also a retired childcare worker at Bethel Baptist Church Daycare.

Survivors include one son, the Rev. Herbert L. Chunn of Somerville; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Chunn, Herbert L. Chunn II, Joshua Chunn, Jonathan Golden, Jason Golden and Jeff Baker.

Mazie Garrison McCutcheon
93, retired school lunchroom manager

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Mazie Garrison McCutcheon, 93, of Cullman will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Twickenham Funeral Home South with the Rev. Dan Kitchens officiating.

Burial will be in Hough Cemetery at Lacey's Spring. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCutcheon died Tuesday, May 22, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 6, 1908, in Alabama to Ben Garrison and Kate Burrell Garrison. She was lunchroom manager at Lacey's Spring Elementary School for 20 years. She was a charter member of Lacey's Spring United Methodist Church, where she taught kindergarten Sunday school class for many years. She was communion steward and a member of the administrative board and United Methodist Women. She was the widow of Velma S. McCutcheon, the mother of the late Paul B. McCutcheon and the sister of the late Simon Garrison, the late Tennis Garrison, the late Zellard Garrison and the late Marvin Garrison.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Rowe of Cullman; two sisters, Ludie Edwards of Oneonta and Norene Brooks of Huntsville; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Lacey's Spring United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Cullman or to a favorite charity.

Robert William England
72, retired laborer

HARTSELLE -- Robert William England, 72, of Decatur died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital.

He was born May 15, 1929, in Morgan County to William Jasper England and Winnie Ann Stiles. He was retired from Burdens and Childers Dairy Farms as a laborer. He was a PFC in the United States Army and performed overseas during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, James Robert "Chuck" England of Early Branch, S.C., and Chris England of Decatur; two daughters, Barbara Wright of Hartselle and Kathy Weaver of Cullman; two brothers, Melvin England of Ryan and Glen England of Indiana; two sisters, Marvalene Leeth of Arab and Opal Grace of Priceville; and 4 grandchildren.

Peck Funeral Home will announce further arrangements.

Thomas Anthony Gorecki
64, metallurgical engineer

SARASOTA, Fla. -- A memorial liturgy for Thomas Anthony Gorecki, 64, of Sarasota, formerly of Decatur, was Thursday, May 24 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, with Gulf Gate Chapel, a division of Toale Brothers Funeral Home, directing and the Rev. Claude Brubaker officiating.

Mr. Gorecki died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was born May 20, 1937, in Hammond, Ind., and was retired as a metallurgical engineer from Wolverine Tube in Decatur. He received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Purdue University and was a member of the Decatur Elks Lodge No. 655. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Sarasota.

Survivors include his wife, Helen A. Gorecki; two sons, David T. Gorecki, of St. Louis, Mo., and Christopher A. Gorecki of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Elizabeth Pishkula of Clifton Park, N.Y.; one brother, Richard Gorecki of Spokane, Wash.; his mother, Sophie Gorecki of Spokane, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church, Annunciation Building Fund, 250 Johnston St. S.E., Decatur AL 35601.

Boyce Don Holland Sr.
57, insurance company owner

NORTHPORT -- Graveside service for Boyce Don Holland Sr., 57, of Northport was Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Sunset Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Holland died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at his home. He was born May 29, 1943, in Decatur to James Holland and Ophelia Wells Holland. He lived in Tuscaloosa the past 28 years and owned The Holland Company Insurance Agency.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Holland; three sons, Boyce Don "Tuffy" Holland Jr., Brett D. Holland and Brad D. Holland, all of Northport; one sister, Jan M. Jones of Decatur; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Northport Church of Christ building fund or to a favorite charity.

Margaret Leopard Johnson
94, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Margaret Leopard Johnson, 94, of Athens will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Tom Rost officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at her home. She was born March 26, 1907, in Limestone County to Charles Alonzo Leopard and Ida McGlawn Leopard. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was the widow of Ovie Gilbert Johnson and the mother of James Gilbert Johnson and Harold Phillip Johnson.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Edward Johnson and Robert Pierce Johnson, both of Athens; one daughter, Mary Frances "Polly" Porter of Athens; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Great-grandsons will be pallbearers.

Grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.

James Kirk Stewart
82, retired mechanic

Funeral for James Kirk Stewart, 82, of Decatur and formerly of Lawrence County will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. Tyrone Bolden officiating.

Burial will be in Foster /Davis Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mr. Stewart died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at South Morgan Health Care. He was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Lawrence County to James Stewart and Rebecca Kirk Stewart. He was a retired auto mechanic. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro and a United States Navy World War II veteran.

Survivors include one stepson, Percy Davis of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Beulah Cosby of Hillsboro and Ruby Harris of Chattanooga; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kirk Bankston, Patrick Owens, Michael Hayes, Justin Stewart, Steve Simpson and Reginald Stewart.

Ruth Olivia Tennison
72, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ruth Olivia Tennison, 72, of Athens will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Lackey officiating.

Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tennison died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born July 20, 1928, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Church of Christ. She was the widow of Edward Estes Tennison.

Survivors include one son, Eddy Tennison of Athens; two daughters, Vicki Linton and Mary Ruth Tennison Davis, both of Athens; two brothers, Glenn Durham and Frank "Dill" Durham, both of Athens; six sisters, Ila Mae Russell, Ilene Russell and Beulah Pope, all of Athens, Janell Blankenship of Pulaski, Tenn., Rochelle Rocco of Lincoln Park, Mich., and Joanne Gillen of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Durham, Michael Elmore, David Blankenship, Greg Durham, David Hanserd and Mark Brown.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
