Memorial service for Stanley Cooper, 52, of Decatur will be Thursday at 6 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. John Clotfelter officiating.

Mr. Cooper died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 11, 1949, to Roy Muriel Cooper and Edra Roberts Cooper. He was a machinist and the widower of June Cooper.

Survivors include one son, Roy Cooper of Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, DeAnn Huddelston and Laura Brookshire, both of Decatur; his mother of Athens; one brother, Rusty Cooper of Athens; three sisters, Kay Green of Huntsville, Sherry Moss and Lynn Abney of San Antonio; and two grandchildren.

Ella Franks
89, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ella Franks, 89, of Falkville will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Burns officiating.

Burial will be in Roden Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Franks died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born June 18, 1911, in Lawrence County to Samuel Houston Roden and Lucy Ellen Jackson Roden. She was a homemaker and member of Rural Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Franks and Jimmy Franks, both of Hartselle; four daughters, Nadine Lou Allen of South Lebanon, Ohio, Helen Hulsey of Oklahoma, Kathleen Hankins of Cullman and Carolyn Lankster of Falkville; one sister, Geneva Craig of St. Charles, Mo.; 30 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 46 great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Oscar R. 'Rudy' Glass
74, contract specialist

Funeral for Oscar R. "Rudy" Glass, 74, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Halbrooks and the Rev. Keith Elder officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Glass died Monday, May 28, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Little Rock, Ark., to William Bailey Glass and Ilar Pruett Glass. He was a retired contract specialist with the Department of the Army at Redstone Arsenal. A charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, he served on various committees, sang in the choir, was a trustee and attended the Seekers Sunday school class. He was a former Jaycee and a member of the Point Mallard Independent Golfers Association. He was the brother of the late Omar C. Glass.

Survivors include his wife, Wylodine Glass; one son, Gary Scott Glass of Decatur; one daughter, Vicki Renee Glass Pierce of Boaz; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dallas Crowell, Tommy Whitehead, Ted Holland, Tim Martin, Greg Zellner and Jimmy Brazelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Point Mallard Independent Golfers Association.

Memorials may be made to the St. Luke United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3014 Danville Road S.W., Decatur, AL 35603.

James Herbert Hazelrigg
81, retail manager

James Herbert Hazelrigg, 81, of Decatur died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center.

He was born May 12, 1920, in Winchester, Ill., to Herbert and Mary Hazelrigg. He managed several retail stores and was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Standridge of Decatur; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Robert S. Krueger
74, Amoco Chemical retiree

Funeral for Robert S. Krueger, 74, of Decatur will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Culotta officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Following a rosary, the family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Krueger died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at his home. He was born July 29, 1926, in Neodesha, Kan., to Ira and Ruth Krueger. He was retired from Amoco Chemical after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Decatur Elks Lodge No. 655 and American Legion Post No. 15.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma J. Krueger; three sons, Louis Kidd of Knoxville, Mike Krueger of Tuscaloosa and Steve Krueger of Madison; one daughter, Ruth Ann Hall of Tuscaloosa; one brother, Jack Krueger of Sanger, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wallace B. McGahan, Mervin Markley, Jack Allen, Rudy Kucera, Greg Hale and Billy Smith.

Memorials may be made to the Annunciation of the Lord Building Fund at St. Ann Catholic Church.

Ella Mae Malone
67, homemaker

Funeral for Ella Mae Malone, 67, of Decatur will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at David Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Limestone County with the Rev. Jonathan White officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Church Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Miss Malone died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Limestone County to Simon Malone and Mae Etta Malone. A homemaker, she was a member of David Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where she was in the Senior Choir and on the Mothers Board.

Survivors include one sister, Annie Malone Johnson of Decatur.

Deacons of David Temple Missionary Baptist Church will be pallbearers.

Alfred Gaston 'A.G.' Mooney
83, retired ticket agent

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Alfred Gaston "A.G." Mooney, 83, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. J.T. Copeland officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Mooney died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Lake Villa Independent Living Center in Birmingham. He was born Sept. 17, 1917, in Coosa County to Charles Edward Mooney and Queenie Mae Prator Mooney. He was a member of Hillview Church of Christ in Birmingham, Nunn-Oden Lodge No. 398 of Hartselle and Somerville Lodge No. 721. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a York Rite in the Decatur Masons and a retired ticket agent for Greyhound Bus Lines.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Williams Mooney; two sons, David G. Mooney of Moody and Michael E. Mooney of Midfield; two stepsons, Michael A. Robinson and Aubrey L. Robinson, both of Leeds; one stepdaughter, Rebecca S. Ashley of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Sasser, J.V. Wade, Philip Sherman, Curtis Nelson, Kyle Kirby, Joe Reid, Charter Nicholson and Joe Jenkins.

Wesley Newton 'Bill' Pitts
81, Army veteran

Funeral for Wesley Newton "Bill" Pitts, 81, of Decatur will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lewis, the Rev. Duane Maas and the Rev. Ronald Reinhardt officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Pitts died today, May 29, 2001, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham. He was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Alabama to Lee and Isabell Pitts. He was a retired truck driver and U.S. Army veteran who served for more than 22 years. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 15 and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was the brother of the late Lucille Palmer and Ruby Kennedy.

Survivors include his wife, Violet "Vi" Pitts; one son, Carlos Westling of Fayetteville, N.C.; one daughter, Patsy Gail Denham of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Harry James "Jamie" Bladow of Houston and Kenneth Bladow of Somerville; one stepdaughter, Nanette Holliday of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three brothers, Roy Pitts of Birmingham, and Conley Pitts and Troy Pitts, both of Sulligent; one sister, Josie Fowler of Columbus, Miss.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Vernie Lois Cossey Scott
87, homemaker

SAVANNAH, Tenn. -- Funeral for Vernie Lois Cossey Scott, 87, of Savannah will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home.

Burial will be in White's Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Scott died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Park Rest Nursing Home in Savannah. She was born June 1, 1913, to George W. Cossey and Ada McClain Cossey. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Wilburn Scott, Jerry Scott and Billy Wayne Scott, all of Savannah; four daughters, Mildred Barrier, Annie Lou Cox and Artie Mae Stricklin, all of Savannah, and Martha S. Staggs of Decatur; two sisters, Myrtle White and Zella Mae Cossey, both of Savannah; 28 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Lillian Blackwood
68, seamstress

MOULTON -- Funeral for Lillian Blackwood, 68, of Moulton will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Moulton Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. Bobby Sutton and the Rev. Johnny Nelson officiating.

Burial will be in Ferguson Cemetery with Law-rence Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blackwood died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at her home. She was born April 11, 1933, in Fulton, Ky. She was a seamstress and a member of Hartselle Church of God. Mrs. Blackwood raised her granddaughter, Lisa Blackwood.

Survivors include her husband, Tifford Blackwood; one son, Larry Blackwood of Huntsville; one daughter, Connie Blackwood of Moulton; three brothers, Coy Sutton of Moulton, Edward Sutton of Mount Hope and Robert Sutton of Hatton; three sisters, Lela Mae Blackwood and Jewel Anderson, both of Hatton, and Earline Smith of Mount Hope.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Brinda Kay Blagburn
47, home care provider

PRICEVILLE -- Funeral for Brinda Kay Blagburn, 47, of Priceville will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Priceville Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd West officiating.

Burial will be in Childers Family Cemetery at Eva. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blagburn died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at her home. She was born April 22, 1954, in Decatur to Walter Fairbanks and Thelma Bunn Fairbanks. She worked for Constance Peerson as a home care provider. She was a member of Sunnybrook Church of God of Prophecy. She was the sister of L.G. Fairbanks.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Blagburn; two sons, David Shane Blagburn of Decatur and Corey Heath Blagburn of Oden Ridge; three brothers, Walter T. Fairbanks Jr., Ottis Paul Fairbanks and Carl Gene Fairbanks, all of Decatur; seven sisters, Doris M. Keen of Shepard, Texas, Betty J. Hardiman of Priceville, Martha K. Thompson of Rusk, Texas, Maggie C. Kaney of Alexander City, Judy F. Fairbanks and Patricia A. Elliott, both of Decatur, and Flo Fairbanks of Panama City, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Ottis Fairbanks, Carl Fairbanks, Walter T. Fairbanks Jr., Randy Blagburn, Brandon Blagburn and Abeyta Garrison.

Roy Richard Bonner Sr.
80, Wal-Mart greeter and retired Nickle Plate Railroad employee

ATHENS -- Funeral for Roy Richard Bonner Sr., 80, of Athens will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Randy Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bonner died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 1, 1921, in Bauxite, Ark., to Herschel Bonner and Mary Bonner. He retired from Nickle Plate Railroad in 1972 and recently worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Athens, where he received a Golden Vest Award for customer service excellence. He served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of Round Island Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1122. He was a Mason and in the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a charter member of the Bunker Hill Fire Department in Bunker Hill, Ind.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Bonner; four sons, Richard Bonner Jr. of Houston, Texas, Hank Cobb of Athens, Jeffrey Bonner of Burlington, Ind., and Robby Bonner of Flora, Ind.; three daughters, Sonja Cobb of Tucson, Ariz., Nancy Krueger of Houston, Texas, and Bridget Brewster of Kokomo, Ind.; one sister, Rosalie Morman of Hamburg, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Bonner, Nathanial Brewster, Erin Anderson, Noah Brewster, Tammy Krueger, Levi Brewster, Shelly Cobb and Havilah Brewster.
