Oliver T. Rogers
91, retired welder

Graveside service for Oliver T. Rogers, 91, of Germantown, Tenn., will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Mark Tolbert officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 at the funeral home.

Mr. Rogers died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Germantown. He was born Sept. 18, 1909, in Adamsville to John Henry Rogers and Fannie Kemp Rogers. He was a welder for Monsanto and lived in Decatur for 65 years. He was the widower of Hazel Emaline Rogers.

Survivors include one son, Tommy Wayne Rogers of Jackson, Tenn.; one daughter, Vicki Sandlin of Germantown; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church elevator fund.

Lera Dobbs Webster
74, homemaker

PRICEVILLE -- Funeral for Lera Dobbs Webster, 74, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. Ron Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens with Priceville Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Webster died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Morgan County to John Calvin Dobbs and Ona Elizabeth Roan Dobbs. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, Women's Missionary Union member and director of Mother's Day Out.

Survivors include her husband, Harold O. Webster; two sons, David Webster of Gadsden and Dan Webster of Hartselle; two daughters, Kathy Birkhead of Wake Forest, N.C., and Karen Chenault of Decatur; two brothers, Glen Dobbs of Hartselle and John C. Dobbs of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters, Bernice Terry of Decatur, Jean Williams of Hartselle and Betty Rogers of Holly Pond; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Webster, Christian Webster, Nathaniel Goodwin, William Chenault, Micah Birkhead and Steven Haskins.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church for mission work.

Bobby Mark Adams
43, vinyl siding installer
ATHENS -- Funeral for Bobby Mark Adams, 43, of Athens will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. John Moss officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Adams died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1957, in Morgan County to Melvin Eugene Adams and Ruthie Lovell Adams. He worked as a vinyl siding installer at Tri-State Siding.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Adams; one daughter, Bonnie Adams of Athens; one stepson, Ronnie Kyle of Athens; one stepdaughter, Gayla Kyle of Madison; two brothers, Charles Adams of Huntsville and David Adams of Athens; two sisters, Betty Clark and Faye Harbin, both of Athens; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Spry, Jerry Spry, Derrick Spry, Jerry Holt, Billy Hardy and Ken Vinson.

Wendell Farrar
80, retired mechanic

ATHENS -- Funeral for Wendell Farrar, 80, of Tanner will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at David Temple Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jonathan White officiating.

Burial will be in Denson Cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Farrar died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born June 12, 1920, in Limestone County to George Farrar Sr. and Callie Baker Farrar. He was retired as a mechanic from the Alabama Formers Co-op in Decatur.

Survivors include six sons, R.H. Farrar and Marevich Farrar, both of Athens, and Dwight Farrar, Lavorn Farrar, Darnell Farrar and Macon Farrar, all of Tanner; five daughters, Jean Hines of Athens, and Marie Hines, Lallie Ray Lucas, Sharon McLin and Myrtle Mull, all of Tanner; and one brother, George Farrar Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind.

Edward Lee Leonard
79, aerospace engineer

Funeral for Edward Lee Leonard, 79, of Trinity will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Neal Culberson officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Leonard died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at National Health Care in Moulton. He was born March 10, 1922, in Lamar County to George Leonard and Mattie Leonard. He was a graduate of Mississippi State College and Athens State College and was a teacher and principal at Millport High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked 38 years at NASA as an aerospace engineer, retiring in 1985. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the widower of Margaret Leonard.

Survivors include his wife, Carnette Steele Hale Leonard; two sons, Edward L. Leonard of Decatur and Earl H. Leonard of Trinity; three daughters, Evelyn L. Crowder of Cullman, Ellen R. Leonard of Montgomery and Virginia Hale Aycox of Decatur; two brothers, Richard Leonard of Millport and Floyd Leonard of Columbus, Miss.; two sisters, Allie Mae Spruill of Columbus and Vergie Faye Stembridge of Kosicisko, Miss.; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Hall, David Crowder, Gordon Soloman, Ronald Puckett, Billy Hamilton and George Nancarrow.

The Trinity United Methodist Church men's Sunday school class will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church building fund, 705 North Seneca Drive, Trinity, AL 35673.

Mattie Lou 'Auntie' Moody
105, homemaker

Funeral for Mattie Lou "Auntie" Moody, 105, of Courtland will be Thursday at noon at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Ashford Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Annie Willingham Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Courtland.

Mrs. Moody died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 9, 1896. in Lawrence County to Billy Critten and Alice Shaw Critten. She was known as a wonderful cook and for the good deeds she did for her family and community. Her happiness was having her extended family at her home. She was the last survivor of 10 brothers and sisters and the widow of Willie Bruce Moody. She was a member of Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Her caregiver for the past eight years was Mattie L. Ashford, who was named for her.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Jerry Opp
68, U.S. Navy veteran

Graveside service for Jerry Opp, 68, of Somerville will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with H.T. Perry officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Opp died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at his home. He was born June 23, 1932, in North Dakota to Fred Opp and Lydia Gier Opp. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 4190.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Opp; two sons, Jerry Opp Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., and Rick Opp of Newport, Wash.; one stepson, Charles Vinson of Somerville; two stepdaughters, Karen Lawrimore of Hartselle and Sharon Hammock of Huntsville; four sisters, Lorraine Steiner of Belin, N.M., Karen Schrepple of Atlanta, Donna Criley of Cupertino, Calif., and Claudia Anderson of Pierre, S.D.; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Daniel Oscar Price
64, retired auto mechanic

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Daniel Oscar Price , 64, of South Pittsburg, Tenn., who has relatives in Morgan County, will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Brister officiating.

Burial will be in Charity Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Price died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Grandview Medical Center in Jasper, Tenn. He was born Aug. 19, 1936, in Huntsville to Clyde Odell Price and Emma Lucille Keel Price . He was a retired auto mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Price of Huntsville; one son, Michael Atchley of Huntsville; two daughters, Brenda Wall of Albertville and Glenda Lyczewski of Boaz; one brother, Kenneth Price of Huntsville; two sisters, Wanda Mueller of Texas and Teresa Joe of Ohio; his mother, of Tuscaloosa; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Stargell, Terry Stargell, Lloyd Wall, Stanley Ogle, Johnny Doss and Preston Anthony.

Erskin Thomas Tucker Sr.
68, retired farmer

ATHENS -- Funeral for Erskin Thomas Tucker Sr., 68, of Elkmont will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Terry officiating.

Burial will be in Tanner Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Tucker died Monday, June 4, 2001, at his home. He was born Feb. 11, 1933, in Huntsville. He was a retired farmer and a U.S. Army veteran. He was the widower of Clara Mae Tucker and the father of the late Ray William Tucker and Anthony Joe Tucker.

Survivors include three sons, Erskin Thomas Tucker Jr., Ricky Gene Tucker and Timothy Wayne Tucker, all of Athens; six daughters, Evelyn Louise Cowan of Decatur, Ruthie Mae Towe and Sherry Gail Williams, both of Tanner, and Barbara Gail Barnett, Willie Carolyn Tucker and Sarah Ann Cowan, all of Athens; one brother, James Tucker of Ardmore, Tenn.; one sister, Beatrice Barber of Decatur; 41 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Moss, Stanley Haggermaker, Dale Haggermaker, Wayne Watkins, Herman Wallace, Bobby Dempsey and Johnny Towe.

Rosie Lee Gipson
36, former Wayne Farms employee
Funeral for Rosie Lee Gipson, 36, of Decatur will be Friday at noon at St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America with the Rev. Doris Baker officiating.

Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in Oakville with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Gipson died Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Limestone County. She was born Jan. 19, 1965, to Hance Griffin Jr. and Ethel Mae Barnes Gipson. She attended Lawrence County schools, was a member of Oakville Missionary Baptist Church and had worked at Wayne Farms. She was the mother of the late Clifford Sheppard Jr.

Survivors include one son, Jarvious Sheppard of Decatur; her mother of Decatur; five brothers, Willard Hawkins and Tony Gipson, both of Huntsville, and John Hawkins, Tracey Gipson and Ray Gipson, all of Decatur; three sisters, Della Gipson and Sandra Gipson, both of Huntsville, and Ella Gipson of Decatur; and her grandmother, Martha Hawkins of Decatur.

Vernia Christine Goode
85, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Vernia Christine Goode, 85, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Littrell officiating.

Burial was to be in Evans Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Goode died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at her home. She was born Jan. 24, 1916, in Limestone County to Doc Calvin Goar and Omie Evans Goar. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was the widow of Warren D. Goode and the mother of the late Charles William Goode and James Glenn Goode.

Survivors include one son, William Lee Goode of Decatur; three daughters, Bernice Posey of Leighton, Mary Evelyn Posey of Tanner and Jean McCaghren of Danville; one brother, Charlie Goar of Athens; one sister, Bertie Goode of Athens; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons were to be pallbearers.

William 'Billy' Green
70, Reynolds Metal retiree

MOULTON -- Funeral for William "Billy" Green , 70, of Hatton will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Okolona Baptist Church in Hatton with the Rev. Curtis Pixler, the Rev. J.B. Wells and the Rev. Sam Wallace officiating.

Burial will be in Ferguson Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Green died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Shoals Hospital. He was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Lawrence County to William Loosier Green and Syble Green . He was a member and a deacon at Okolona Baptist Church, and was retired from Reynolds Metal Co.

Survivors include his wife, Azine Smith Green ; one son, Brad Green of Birmingham; one daughter, Pam Jones of Huntsville; one brother, Bob Green of Hatton; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Willard Newton, Kenneth McElroy, and deacons and former deacons of Okolona Baptist Church.
