ATHENS -- Bill Reaves, 75, of Elkmont died Friday June 8, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Marvin E. 'Dooley' Wales
72, retired milk deliveryman

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Marvin E. "Dooley" Wales, 72, of Elkmont will be today at 2 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Hawkins and Billy McGregor officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Mr. Wales died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at the University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. He was born Sept. 25, 1928, in Limestone County to Raymond and Gertrude Wales. He retired from Meadow Gold Dairies after 35 years as a delivery salesman and served on the Limestone County Board of Education for 18 years. He recently worked for L&S Grocery in Ardmore and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was the brother of the late Homer Wales, Robert Vernon Wales, and Agnes Ruth Marberry.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Pittman Wales; one son, Jeff Wales of Elkmont; three daughters, Ginger Brooks of Elkmont, Jan McMunn of Decatur and Kandye Smith of Athens; three brothers, Van Buren Wales and Raymond Wales Jr., both of Elkmont, and Charles Edward Wales of Athens; three sisters, Christine Broadway, Eva Mae Daly and Barbara Clem, all of Elkmont; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

David Bruce Bunting
71, retired street department worker
Funeral for David Bruce Bunting, 71, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bunting died Saturday, June 9, 2001, in Decatur. He was born March 27, 1930, in Royal Oak, Mich., to Oliver R. Bunting and Alta May Doty Bunting. He was retired from the street department with the city of Olney, Ill., worked as a deliveryman for THE DECATUR DAILY and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War era. He was the widower of Barbara Patton Bunting.

Survivors include one son, David Bunting Jr. of Olney; three daughters, Mitzi Steed of Oklahoma City, Linda Hayden of Nashville and Jackie Thompson of Athens; one stepson, Jim Reeves of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Fawn Glenn of Decatur; one sister, Lora Ethel Stevens of Alvin, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary Beth Brown Clark
73, evangelist

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Mary Beth Brown Clark, 73, of Huntsville will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Southwood Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kevin Ravenscraft and the Rev. Ralph Keel officiating.

Burial will be in Faith Memorial Gardens with Laughlin Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Clark died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at her home. She was born July 14, 1927, in Andalusia. She worked in Child Evangelism Fellowship for 20 years, and was a speaker for the Christians Women's Club International and a women's conference speaker for Moody Bible Institute. She taught numerous home Bible studies and led children's church with her husband for 20 years. She was the mother of the late Robert H. Clark and Carol B. Clark.

Survivors include her husband, James W. Clark; two sons, James W. Clark Jr. of Jacksonville and Stephen Douglas Clark of Knoxville; two brothers, John Mark Brown of Mobile and David Brown of Slidell, La.; two sisters, Janie Buck of Birmingham and Gratia Steggall of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a favorite Christian ministry.

Marvin Curtis Glaze
90, retired operator

ATHENS -- Funeral for Marvin Curtis Glaze, 90, of Athens will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Bo Grace and the Rev. Ray Green officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Glaze died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Feb. 27, 1911, in Limestone County. He was a farmer and was retired as an operator from Monsanto Co. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he formerly was a deacon and music director. He was the father of the late Marvalin Rose Glaze.

Survivors include his wife, Martha D. Glaze; two sons, Buford D. Glaze and Phillip C. Glaze, both of Athens; one daughter, Janett Blackwood of Athens; two brothers, Donald Glaze of Florence and Fred Glaze of Trussville; one sister, Martha G. Hudson of Athens; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 145, Athens, AL 35612.

Judy Naylor
67, retired lunchroom worker

DOUBLE SPRINGS -- Funeral for Judy Naylor, 67, of Double Springs will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Church of God with the Rev. Raymond Stewart officiating.

Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery with Nichols Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Naylor died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at her home. She was born May 8, 1934, in Moulton. She was retired from Winston County Schools as a lunchroom worker.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil E. Naylor; one brother, Woodie Sparks of Moulton; and one sister, Beatrice Voss of Moulton.

Bill Reaves
75, retired teacher, minister

ATHENS -- Funeral for Bill Reaves, 75, of Elkmont will be today at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bill Irby and Herbert Chittam officiating.

Burial will be in Pettusville Cemetery.

Mr. Reaves died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born July 8, 1925, in Oxford, Miss. He retired after teaching 39 years in Limestone and Madison county school and was a member of West Hobbs Street Church of Christ. He preached for 42 years in churches of Christ in Limestone County and Giles, Lincoln and Lawrence counties in Tennessee.

Survivors include his wife, Myra D. Reaves; two daughters, Myrna R. Robinson of Fayetteville, Tenn., and Billie Sue Pressnell of Elkmont; one brother, A.A. Reaves of Green wood, Miss.; two sisters, Sue King of Oxford, Miss., and Molly Green of Bartlett, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Dunnavant, David Dunnavant Jr., Mark Pressnell, Johnny Robinson, Wesley Shelton and Brad Swing.

Nell Lawhorn Thomas
95, retired teacher

Funeral for Nell Lawhorn Thomas, 95, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Barton officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thomas died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at South Morgan Health Care. She was born Feb. 11, 1906, in Spruce Pine to George Washington Lawhorn and Mary Anna Cheek Lawhorn. She taught in Decatur and Morgan County schools and was a member of Pleasant Hills Baptist Church. She was the widow of Earl Hubbard Thomas.

Survivors include one son, Earl L. Thomas of Decatur; one daughter, Mary Nell Long of Decatur; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Neal Usery
53, aerial applicator

ATHENS -- Memorial service for Neal Usery, 53, of Walnut Ridge, Ark., will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Ephesus Church of Christ in Athens with the Steve Ferguson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Mr. Usery died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, in Arkansas. He was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Athens to David William Usery and Marie Black Usery. He lived in Athens most of his life before moving two years ago to Walnut Ridge.

He was an aerial applicator for Hoxie Flying Service, a former high school teacher and college professor, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Hoxie Church of Christ. He was the 1998-99 president of the National Agricultural Aviation Association; he was the organization's secretary in 1997 and one of its past instructors.

Survivors include his wife, Tammie Hall Usery; two sons, David Brian Usery of Clarksville, Tenn., and William Neal Usery of Walnut Ridge; two daughters, Heather Dawn Usery Nave and Rachel Nola Usery, both of Athens; his mother of Athens; one brother, Stanley Ray Usery of Athens; one sister, Rita Usery Frederick of Florence; and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Will Usery Education Fund at the First Community Bank, Walnut Ridge, AR 72476.

James Lee Ayers
62, car salesman
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for James Lee Ayers, 62, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Partridge officiating.

Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. There will be a military graveside service. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Ayers died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at ConsultAmerica Cottage Hills Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Cullman County to Preston Ayers and Dorothy Farley Ayers. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church in Cullman. He served four years in the United States Air Force. He was car salesman and worked in finance.

Survivors include his mother of Hartselle; two sons, Ray Ayers of Cullman and Jeff Ayers of Hartselle; two daughters, Denise Teague and Carol Brown, both of Hartselle; three brothers, Randy McHan, Chester McHan and Norman McHan, all of Hartselle; three sisters, Joyce Hooven and Connie Weeks, both of Decatur, and Essie Mabry of Florence; and 9 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Thomas McHan, Jason Weeks, Lamar Weeks, Tommy Green e and Fred Gillespie.

Inez Bynum
92, homemaker

Funeral for Inez Bynum, 92, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Martin officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bynum died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at her home. She was born April 13, 1909, in Morgan County to Lewis Moore and Sally Russell Moore. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was the widow of Greek Bynum and mother of Junior Bynum.

Survivors include: one son, Gary Bynum of Decatur; one daughter, Marie Phillips of Decatur; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Phillips, Brent Gailey, Chad Gailey, Zere Carter, Wayne Lindley, Marty Phillips and Allen Green .

Joseph Wilburn Duke Sr.
75, retired L&N Railroad worker

Funeral for Joseph Wilburn Duke Sr., 75, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Rayburn officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Duke died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Floyd E. Tut Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville. He was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Ballground, Ga., to Claude Duke and Mary Spriggs Duke.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Victory Baptist Church. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Before retiring, he was a machine operator for the Louisville & Nashville Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Athalene Duke; one daughter, Diane Barnett of Cullman; one stepdaughter, Juanita Holaway of Decatur; four sons, Donald Duke of Marietta, Ga., Ronald Duke of Carterville, Ga., Joseph Duke Jr. of Holly Pond and William Duke of Cullman; one stepson, Danny McConnell of Hartselle; one sister, Katherine Ingram of Ballground, Ga.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gary Kritner, Jeremey McNab, Buck Russell, Leonard Tucker, Lelton Russell and Larry Snow.

Retick Pierce 'Red' Ennis
85, self-employed and a Baptist minister

ATHENS -- Funeral for Retick Pierce "Red" Ennis, 85, of Athens was to be today at 3:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. James Spears and the Rev. Randy Coker officiating.

Burial was to be in Madison City Cemetery.

Mr. Ennis died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Limestone Health Facility. He was born May 1, 1916, in Limestone County, to Frank Ennis and Lyda Ennis. He was self-employed and a Baptist minister. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Paul Ennis of Athens; three daughters, Phyllis Horn, June Wilson and Sarah Ennis, all of Athens; two brothers, Clyde Ennis of Athens and Dick Ennis of Madison; three sisters, Inez Springer of Athens, Hazel Blizzard and Helen Lowery, both of Madison; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons were to be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's research.
