Donald Doyle 'Cotton' Cole
55, truck driver

The ashes of Donald Doyle "Cotton" Cole, 55, of Decatur will be scattered along Interstate 65 between Decatur and Birmingham by fellow drivers for RS Trucking of Decatur. Mr. Cole was a long-distance trucker for the firm, traveling between the East and West coasts.

Mr. Cole died Friday, June 15, 2001, at South Morgan Health Care Center. He was born Jan. 9, 1946, in Marked Tree, Ark. He was a truck driver for 30 years.

Survivors include one son, John Cole of Monte Rio, Calif.; and two daughters, Rita Jameson of Mountain Home, Ark., and Gina Rhoades of Bull Shoals, Ark.

Reynolds Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Helen Francis Moore Drake
78, homemaker

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Helen Francis Moore Drake, 78, of Athens will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Laughlin-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Germone Hilliard officiating.

Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Drake died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at her home. She was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Madison County to James Robert Moore and Rosie Gibson Moore. She was a homemaker, a member of Midway Baptist Church and a former resident of Huntsville, where she lived for 38 years.

Survivors include her husband, James Edward Drake; one son, James Edward Drake Jr. of Athens; one brother, Buddy Moore of Toney; one sister, Hazel Brazelton of Huntsville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Vann Hill
41, heavy equipment operator

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Vann Hill, 41, of Lacey's Spring will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Holiness Church with the Rev. Walter Peace and the Rev. Melvin Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Valhermoso Springs Cemetery with Twickenham Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Hill died Friday, June 15, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1960, in Madison County to Robert and Ruth Hill. He volunteered to dig graves in the Lacey's Spring area. He was father of the late Summer Danielle Hill and brother of the late Terry Hill. He and his father owned Hill's Backhoe Service.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Hill; one daughter, Contessa Gwen Hill of Lacey's Spring; his parents of Lacey's Spring; four brothers, Ron Hill, Randall Hill and J.J. Hill, all of Lacey's Spring, and Don Hill of Valhermoso Springs; four sisters, Diane Daugette, Jessica Hill and Samantha Mitchell, all of Lacey's Spring, and Carolyn Lawrence of Union Grove; and one grandson.

Everett 'Eb' Inman
85, business owner

PRICEVILLE -- Graveside service for Everett "Eb" Inman, 85, of Hartselle will be today at 4:30 p.m. at Hartselle Memory Gardens with the Rev. Robert Stegall and the Rev. Norman Whitthum officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends today from 4 to 4:30 p.m. at the cemetery.

Mr. Inman died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Falkville Healthcare Center. He was born July 4, 1915, in Ackley, Iowa, to Ellsworth Inman and Minnie Kruse Inman. He was a decorator and operated his own business. He designed and maintained formal rose gardens throughout the Chicago suburban area and was a certified judge for the American Rose Society. He was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Katherine Inman; one son, Donald Inman of Gurnee, Ill.; one daughter, Bonnie Norman of Hartselle; and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 209 E. Main St., Hartselle, AL 35640.

Mary L. McCormick
87, Redstone Arsenal retiree

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Mary L. McCormick, 87, of Athens will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Bailey officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCormick died Friday, June 16, 2001, at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Ardmore, Tenn. She was born Oct. 29, 1913, in Limestone County. She was retired from Redstone Arsenal and was a member of Round Island Baptist Church.

Survivors include three stepsons, John David McCormick of Madison, Ricky McCormick of Austin, Texas, and Bill McCormick of Savannah, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Sherry Ross of Florence; and step-grandchildren.

Aubrey E. Turney
73, General Motors inspector

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Aubrey E. Turney, 73, of Hartselle will be today at 2 p.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnnie Reid officiating.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Turney died Friday, June 15, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Dec. 11, 1927, in Morgan County to Willie Huie Turney and Mary Sams Turney. He was an inspector for General Motors, an elder of Lighthouse Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was the stepfather of the late Harold McAbee and Scott Dunn.

Survivors include his wife, Edna V. Turney; one daughter, Ricki Slaven of Falkville; one stepson, Randy McAbee of Madison County; two stepdaughters, Margie Bullard of Falkville and Shari Hayden of Owens Crossroads; three brothers, Robert Turney of Oklahoma, and Leon Turney and Gerald Turney, both of Texas; one sister, Sandra Perev of Duncanville, Texas; and three step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Hill, Jay Reid, Kenneth Slaven, Randy Puckett, Ricky Dabbs, David Bullard, Randy Wren and Johnny Lynn.

Ovilea M. Cantrell
83, homemaker

Graveside service for Ovilea M. Cantrell, 83, of Hillsboro will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Summerford and the Rev. Buddie Brown officiating, and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Cantrell died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at NHC Healthcare of Moulton. She was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Limestone County to Roy Elbert McCurry and Lula Mae Pugh McCurry. A homemaker and a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church, she was the widow of Raymond Cantrell.

Survivors include one brother, Walton McCurry of Decatur.

Everett 'Eb' Inman
85, business owner

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Gail Kaylor, 41, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Morgan officiating.

Burial will be in Powell's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kaylor died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at her residence. She was born Nov. 28, 1959, in Morgan County to Ray S. Kaylor and Marie Estelle Watts Kaylor. She was a private investigator. She was a member of Daniels Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother of Decatur; and one brother, Vance Kaylor of Maryville, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Tim Watts, Jacob Watts, Jason Wortley, Todd Morgan, Joshua Berryman and Larry Watts.

Billy Joe Rogers
60, retired Athens foreman and heavy equipment operator

ATHENS -- Funeral for Billy Joe Rogers, 60, of Athens, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Joey Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Rogers died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born April 12, 1941, in Limestone County to Murphy and Mary Lee Rogers. He was retired from the city of Athens as a foreman and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Woodmen of the World. He was the sister of the late Edward Rogers, Elmer Rogers and Jewel Bradford.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Rogers; two brothers, Buddy Rogers of Elkmont and Jerry Rogers of Athens; six sisters, Gertrude Williams, Ruby Hicks and Ozell Johns, all of Athens, Mamie Turner of Elkmont, Lessie Faulk of Ardmore and Louise Newman of Moulton.

Pallbearers will be William Dollar, Mike Dollar, Marty Hall, Donnie Johns, Larry Patterson and Ricky Patterson.

John Wayne Self
54, sales representative

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for John Wayne Self, 54, of Meridianville and formerly of Morgan County, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Plainview Church of Christ with Steve Hale and Tommy Rosenblum officiating and Spry Funeral Home officiating. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Self died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Oct. 21, 1946, in Hartselle to Roy and Agnes Self. He was a sales representative for Kraft Foods and a member of Plainview Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Lynn Self of Meridianville; two sons, Robert Forrest Self of Arab and Jacob Alan Self of Meridianville; one daughter, Angela K. Fowler of Fayetteville, Tenn.; his mother of Huntsville; one brother, Jim Self of Guntersville; one sister, Linda Green of Huntsville; and seven grandchildren.

Kenneth Shirley
55, Delphi fabrication worker

Funeral for Kenneth Shirley, 55, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Carlisle officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Shirley died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born March 20, 1946, in New York to George Henry Shirley and Louise McClean Shirley. He was a member of Central Park Baptist Church and an employee of Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Shirley; one daughter, Lisa Renea Champlin of Decatur; his parents, George and Louise Shirley of Decatur; one brother, Thomas Shirley of Hartselle; two sisters, Elizabeth McDowell of Athens and Margaret Hargrave of Green brier.

Pallbearers will be John Quigley, Todd Gillespie, Jack Nation, Tim Hargrave, Robert McDowell, Tommy Shirley, Tony Sparks and Ronald Wood.

Delphi workers will be honorary pallbearers.
