Marcia Jordan Morehead

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Marcia Jordan Morehead, 74, of Florida will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. John Tanner officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Morehead died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. She was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Jefferson County to Mark Jordan and Elsa Labreau Jordan. She was a homemaker and the widow of B.A. Morehead.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas Jordan Morehead of Huntsville and Greg Morehead and Bill Morehead, both of Decatur; one daughter, Betsy Selleck of Fayetteville, Ga.; three sisters, Ruby Hayes and Edith Day, both of Birmingham, and Dorothy Dowell of Houston; and six grandchildren.

Cynthia Glenn Shirley

Graveside service for Cynthia Glenn Shirley, 80, of Decatur will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Buddy Champion officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shirley died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at her daughter's home in Huntsville. She was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Decatur to Charlie and Kate Glenn. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur and a graduate of Decatur High School and Auburn University. She was the widow of Dewitt Shirley and the mother of the late Cynthia Ruth Shirley.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Shirley and Jim Shirley, both of Marietta, Ga.; three daughters, Susan Browning of Montgomery, Laura Percer of Huntsville and Margaret Wiginton of Warrior; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Glenn, Sonny Glenn, Ralph Glenn, Rusty Wiginton, Buddy Glenn and James Browning.

Memorials may be made to Wheeler Basin Regional Library, First Baptist Church of Decatur or Hospice Familycare, 2225 Drake Ave., Suite 8, Huntsville, AL 35803.

Birdie Rice Bentley
89, retired weave operator
HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Birdie Rice Bentley, 89, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Valhermoso Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Harlon Hood officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bentley died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born June 9, 1912, in Morgan County to Robert Lee Rice and Nettie Draper Rice. She retired as a weave operator from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Decatur. She was the widow of Herman Bentley.

Survivors include great-nephews and great-nieces.

Ray Copeland
63, retired mechanic

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ray Copeland, 63, of Falkville will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Joey Coots and the Rev. Jim Grissom officiating.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Copeland died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at his home. He was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Morgan County to Thomas Neal Copeland and Edith Dial Copeland. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Falkville and retired as a maintenance mechanic from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Decatur.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Copeland; one son, Jeff Copeland of Falkville; one daughter, Cendy Powell of Hartselle; two brothers, Neal Copeland of Hartselle and Buddy Copeland of Crane Hill; two sisters, Sue Evans of Naples, Fla., and Mary Ann Copeland of Falkville; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rick Copeland, Chris Garnett, Brian Grissom, Ronnie Grissom, Michael Mann and Barry Manor.

Ann Collins Franklin
Retired Capshaw postmaster

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ann Collins Franklin of Athens will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny McMullins officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Franklin died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at her home. She born in Limestone County to James Riley Collins and Lula Wray Collins. She was a member of Capshaw Baptist Church and retired as Capshaw postmaster. She was the widow of Johnny Franklin and the mother of the late Connie Franklin Pepper.

Survivors include one son, Johnny Ray Franklin of Columbia, Tenn.; two daughters, Vicki Gullion of Houston and Rhonda McMullins of Athens; one sister, Tera Clem of Decatur; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Claxton, Rusty Garner, Ronnie Hardiman, Mack Cribbs, Jimmy Cribbs and Granville Cribbs.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Pamela Sue Taylor Johnson
41, production worker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Pamela Sue Taylor Johnson, 41, of Falkville will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Johnson and the Rev. Milan Dekich officiating.

Burial will be in New Center Cemetery at Brooksville. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born May 27, 1960, in Morgan County to Walter Frank Taylor and Mattie Lou Maples Taylor. She was a production worker at Holm Industries.

Survivors include one son, Joshua Johnson of Falkville; one daughter, Brandi Gilstrap of Vinemont; two brothers, Jimmy Taylor of Danville and Dwight Taylor of Priceville; two sisters, Judy Hann of Union Grove and Kathy Griffith of Decatur; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Tony Taylor, Shane Taylor, Dwight Taylor Jr., Donald Green , David Taylor and Jeff Hann.

Ruby Lee Lawrence
Retired nurse's assistant

Graveside service for Ruby Lee Lawrence of Decatur will be today at 2 p.m. at New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Brooksville with the Rev. Harold Chandler officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Lawrence died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born in Morgan County to William P. Woosley and Kate L. Teague Woosley. She retired as a nurse's assistant at Decatur General Hospital and was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. She was the widow of Buford Lawrence.

Survivors include nephews and nieces.

Mildred Aliene Key Ligon
82, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Mildred Aliene Key Ligon, 82, of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Goodlett and Bobby Lipscomb officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Ligon died Friday, June 22, 2001, at National Health Care Center. She was born April 18, 1919, in Lawrence County to Joseph Key and Minnie Stubbs Key. She was a homemaker and member of Union Hill Baptist Church. She was the widow of Irwin Houston Ligon and the mother of the late Elizabeth Ligon and Betty Ruth Ligon.

Survivors include nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Cole, Burles Jeffreys, Allen Saint, Brad Conner, Jimmy Key and Johnny Key.

Jack Sherrill
72, farmer

MOULTON -- Funeral for Jack Sherrill, 72, of Moulton will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Loosier officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Sherrill died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 12, 1928, to Arthur Sherrill and Elsie Thompson Sherrill. He was a farmer and a member of Moulton Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Thomas Sherrill; and one son, Jackie D. Sherrill of Moulton.

Pallbearers will be George Bynum, Charles Bishop, Tommy Chamness, Bill Terry, Phillip Boyles, Brad Conner, Buford Bowman and Edwin Boyles.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Doris Hogan Taylor
70, retired licensed practical nurse

Funeral for Doris Hogan Taylor, 70, of Decatur will be today at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. J.O. Long officiating.

Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery at Speake.

Mrs. Taylor died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Danville to Ollie Davis and Ada Roper Davis. She was a licensed practical nurse and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Wayne Hogan.

Survivors include one son, Larry Hogan of Decatur; one daughter, Jennifer Hogan Thomas of Decatur; one sister, Birtie Mae Randolph of Danville; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Cottingham, Jeff Cottingham, Anthony Hogan, Billy Short, Grant Thomas and Donald Brown.

Robert W. Adams
83, U.S. Army pilot
Graveside service for Robert W. Adams, 83, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. John Clotfelter officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Adams died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in Aiken, S.C. He was born in 1918 in Iowa. He moved to Decatur in 1932 and graduated from Decatur High School in 1936. He worked for Decatur Iron and Steel Co. and was a co-op student at Auburn University from 1939 to 1940. In September 1941 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he was trained as a pilot. He was a German prisoner of war for 22 months. He lived in Hartwell, Ga., until his retirement in 1995, when he moved back to Decatur.

Survivors include two sons, Robert A. Adams of Aiken, S.C., and Kirby C. Adams of Melbourne, Australia; and one daughter, Andrea McVey of Brighton, England.

Alfred S. Connally Jr.
76, retired mechanic

NEW HOPE -- Funeral for Alfred S. Connally Jr., 76, of Guntersville will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Hayden Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Connally died Sunday, July 24, 2001, at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville. He was born Oct. 4, 1924, in New Hope. He was a retired mechanic for Haywood Tire in Huntsville.

Survivors include one son, Paul Connally of Taft, Tenn.; two daughters, Judy Springer of Athens and Kay Bolling of Taft; six stepchildren, Janice Washco of Trinity, William Hudgins of Athens, Frankie Hudgins, Stanley Hudgins and Truman Meckling, all of Huntsville, and Stephanie Hillis of Guntersville; one brother, Tom Connally of New Hope; one sister; Bernice Stanfield of Boaz; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Foy Lee 'Frog' McPherson
62, Alabama Department of Transportation retiree

Funeral for Foy Lee "Frog" McPherson, 62, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Godbey officiating.

Burial will be in Shottsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. McPherson died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at his home. He was born Jan. 11, 1939, in Marion County to Neb C. McPherson and Dela Holiday McPherson. He was retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Survivors include two sons, Chuck McPherson and Lee McPherson, both of Decatur; three daughters, Patsy Howard and Juanitta Massey, both of Decatur, and Rita Corum of Danville; one brother, Charles Ray McPherson of Columbus, Miss.; five sisters, Imogene Shotts of Roosevelt, Mich., Virginia Childers and Maxine Adams, both of Hamilton, Orene Nix of Chattanooga, and Viola Stone of Columbus, Ga.; and 12 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chuck McPherson, Lee McPherson, Robert McPherson, Ken Chandler, Jeff Massey and Terry Howard.
