Clarence Edward Jackson
59, retired truck driver

DALTON, Ga. -- Funeral for Clarence Edward Jackson, 59, of Chattanooga will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Christian Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga with the Rev. Harris Toney officiating.

Burial will be in Veterans Cemetery at Chattanooga with House of Overstreet's Mortuary Inc. directing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before services.

Mr. Jackson died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at National Healthcare in Chattanooga. He was born April 14, 1942, in Decatur to Philander Jackson and Mary Elizabeth Walton Jackson Williams. He was an Army veteran of 12 years and served in Vietnam. He retired as a long-distance truck driver.

Survivors include two sons, Clarence Jackson Jr., of Westbury, N.Y., and Adrian Jackson of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Jacqueline Griffin of Decatur; his mother of Chattanooga; two brothers, Jerry Frost and Melvin Frost, both of Chattanooga.

Herchel 'Dean' Lyle Sr.
65, draftsman

BRANDON, Fla. -- Funeral for Herchel D. "Dean" Lyle Sr., 65, of Brandon and formerly of Decatur, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Stowers Brandon Chapel with the Rev. Robert Ball and the Rev. Malcolm Riegal officiating.

Burial will be in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lyle died at home Monday, July 9, 2001. He was born June 7, 1936, in Decatur. He was a longtime resident of Hillsborough County and a member of St. Cloud Church of God in Valrico. He was a draftsman for a steel company.

Survivors include five sons, Herchel D. Lyle Jr. of Lakeland, Fla., and Allen Lyle, James Lyle, Leon Grinnell and Al Grinnell, all of Brandon, Fla.; two daughters, Cheryl benAbram of Delray Beach, Fla., and Ann Belcher of Crystal Springs, Fla.; his father, Myrtis Lyle of Decatur; one brother, DeWayne Lyle of Athens; one sister, Helen Hall of Athens; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, Fla. 33609.

Cornelius Trence Mayberry

TANNER -- Funeral for Cornelius Trence Mayberry, 36, of Athens was to be today at 1 p.m. at David Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Tanner with the Rev. Jothan White officiating and Peoples Funeral Home directing.

Burial was to be in David Temple Cemetery.

Mr. Mayberry died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at his home. He was born May 14, 1965, in Limestone County to Leo and Shirley Mayberry.

Survivors include his parents of Athens; one brother, Marlon Mayberry of Athens; and two sisters, Letoria Mayberry of Athens and Sherresa Lockett of Memphis.

Gretta Rena Garth
25, Technology Molded Plastics employee

Funeral for Gretta Rena Garth, 25, of Courtland will be Friday at noon at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Town Creek with the Rev. Marshall Garner officiating.

Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Miss Garth died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born July 30, 1975, in Lawrence County to James Lee Garth and Mary Mason Garth. She was a graduate of Courtland High School, a member of Calvary Assembly and an assembly line worker at Technology Molded Plastics.

Survivors include her parents of Courtland; one brother, James Dale Garth of Decatur; three sisters, Daphene Nance of Huntsville, Felecia Garth of Decatur and Tracyne Garth of Courtland; and her grandmother, Carrie Lee Garth of Decatur.

James Franklin Ray
58, construction worker

TANNER -- Funeral for James Franklin Ray, 58, of Athens will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Fletcher's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Green brier with Kenneth Langford Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Warren Cemetery in Town Creek with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Mr. Ray died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Nov. 13, 1942, in Limestone County to Willie Frank Ray and Alice McDonald Ray. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Ray; two sons, Steve Watkins of Chattanooga and Darryl Watkins of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one daughter, Sharon Gamble of Stone Mountain; one sister, Susie N. Lee of Knoxville; and five grandchildren.

Fleta Mae Stover
93, homemaker

Funeral for Fleta Mae Stover, 93, of Decatur will be Saturday at noon at Minor Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Leo Fuqua Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Minor Hill Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Stover died Monday, July 9, 2001, at her home. She was born July 31, 1907, in Limestone County to Ed Mayberry and Celia Ann Pryor Mayberry. She was a homemaker and a member of Minor Hill Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board, the missionary society and the mother's board, and was a teacher and Sunday school superintendent. She was a member of Flint River Association and secretary of Order of Eastern Star Omega Chapter No. 124 and Elizabeth Chapter No. 40.

Survivors include one daughter, Odell Howard of Decatur; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Members of George W. Braxdoll Masonic Lodge No. 28 will be pallbearers.

Ralph Thompson
80, oil company retiree

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ralph Thompson, 80, of Hartselle will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Redfearn Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. He was born May 4, 1921, in Morgan County to Jerry Jasper Thompson and Annie Lee Bynum Thompson. He was a World War II veteran and a member of West Hartselle Baptist Church. He retired from Ingalls Iron Works in Decatur and Hartselle Oil Co. He was the widower of Myrtle Sparks Thompson and the brother of the late Cecil Thompson, Jerry Thompson Jr. and Ray Thompson.

Survivors include four daughters, Debbie T. Blackwood, Glenda T. Anders, Pat T. Garnett and Marquita "Marty" Dickerson, all of Hartselle; two brothers, Bernard Thompson and Paul Thompson, both of Huntsville; four sisters, Eleanor Garrison, Ruby Malone, Flora Marks and Pauline Pryde, all of Huntsville, six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Thompson, Jerry Thompson, Bill Hampton, Tommy Blankenship, Steve Wiley and Danny Cameron.

Pauline E. Owen
76, retired hospital unit manager

ATHENS -- Funeral for Pauline E. Owen, 76, of Louisville, Ky., was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.

Burial was to be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family was to receive friends two hours before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Owen died Monday, June 9, 2001, in Ardmore, Tenn. She was born Oct. 31, 1924, in Limestone County to Robert Parsley and Anne Parsley. She was a retired unit manager from Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville. She was a member of the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels and a former member of Taylor Boulevard Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, John Mark Owen of Louisville; and one sister, Maurine Berzett of Athens.

Gladys Bowles Roberts
84, homemaker

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Gladys Bowles Roberts, 84, of Town Creek was to be today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Town Creek with the Rev. Scott Moore officiating.

Burial was to be in Elmwood Cemetery with Morrison Funeral Home Directing.

Mrs. Roberts died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Montgomery. She was born Aug. 21, 1916, in Colbert County to Thomas Bowles and Susan Clementine Murray Bowles.

She lived in Town Creek until 1995, when she moved to Montgomery. She was active in the Eastern Star in Town Creek until her health declined. She was the widow of Lonnie Roberts, her husband of 50 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Frances Berryman of Montgomery and Tommie Carden of Town Creek; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Members of the Town Creek Masonic Lodge No. 361 were to be pallbearers.

Members of the Town Creek Order of the Eastern Star and members of her Sunday School class were to be honorary pallbearers.

Estella Sanderson
85, homemaker

Funeral for Estella Sanderson, 85, of Decatur will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Triana with the Rev. James Floyd Ayers officiating.

Burial will be in Triana Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Sanderson died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born March 3, 1916, in Triana.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Willie Sanderson Sr. and the mother of the late Robert Sanderson and the late Willie Sanderson Jr.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Sanderson of Triana; one daughter, Stella Marshall of Decatur; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Members of the Triana Fire Department will be pallbearers.

Glenn Adderhold
81, agricultural teacher
CULLMAN -- Funeral for Glenn Adderhold, 81, of Cullman will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Young officiating.

Burial will be in Cullman City Cemetery with Moss Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Adderhold died Friday, July 13, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Piedmont to John L. Adderhold Sr. and Annie Savage Adderhold. A World War II veteran, he received bachelor's and master's degrees from Auburn University and taught vocational agriculture in Tanner. He was retired as city executive officer at Compass Bank in Cullman and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Margaret Logan Adderhold.

Survivors include one son, Glenn David Adderhold Sr. of Tuscumbia; one daughter, Margaret Ann Adderhold of Cullman; one sister, Elizabeth Fowler of Piedmont; two grandchildren; and two great-grand- children.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cullman County, the Building Fund of First United Methodist Church or Cullman Regional Medical Center Foundation.

Jean Rode Darnold
77, registered nurse

Funeral for Jean Rode Darnold, 77, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Elder officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Darnold died Friday, July 13, 2001, at her home. She was born July 11, 1924, in San Antonio to the Rev. Leonard John Rode Sr. and Ella Pluenneke Rode. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She worked as a registered nurse and was a graduate of Santa Rosa School of Nursing in San Antonio. She was the widow of LeVaughn Darnold, the sister of the late Willie Mae Niebuhr and the mother of the late John Dale Darnold.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Kulaw of Decatur and Janie Harter of Butler, Ky.; two brothers, Dr. L.J. Rode Jr. of Austin, Texas, and Dr. R. Lee Rode of Abilene, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Gary Kulaw, Andrea Robinson, Rick Schwartz, Robin Harter, Wesley Robinson and Ben Harter.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the Building Fund of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
