HARTSELLE - Funeral for Terry A. Stewart, 61, of Hartselle will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. W.G. Henry, the Rev. Jeri D. Hunt and the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Stewart died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at his home. He was born April 12, 1940, in Etowah, Tenn., to Proyce Edward Stewart and Edith Davis Stewart. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle, where he served as president of the Care and Share Sunday School Class. He served four years in the United States Navy. He retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation after 34 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Edith Thompson Stewart; and two brothers, Ronnie Stewart and Kenny Stewart, both of Etowah, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Bob Cargo, Ray Crabtree, Duane Dawson, Chris Bryant, Ike Groover, Ron Hodgen, Ralph Nelson and Charles Smith.

Nell Beach Dix Wade
84, homemaker

Graveside service for Nell Beach Dix Wade, 84, of Jackson, Miss., will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Walker officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Wade died Monday, July 16, 2001, in Jackson. She attended Judson College and graduated from the University of Montevallo. She lived in Newton, Miss., before moving to Douglas, Ga., where she lived for the next 40 years. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Douglas and served as an elder before moving in 1994 to Jackson, where she joined the Fondren Presbyterian Church. She was the sister of the late Oliver Dix and Frank Dix.

Survivors include three sons, John E. Wade of New Orleans, Floyd D. Wade of Newton, Miss., and Paul D. Wade of Meridian, Miss.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral for Madras Jeffreys Baker, 79, of Trinity will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. John Clotfelter officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Baker died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 23, 1921, in Trinity to William T. Jeffreys and Nellie Gantt Jeffreys. She was a member of Mount Zion Eastern Star and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was the widow of DeWitt F. Baker and a homemaker. She was a lifelong resident of Trinity and active in civic work.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny Franklin Baker and Jerry DeWitt Baker, both of Trinity, and James Michael Baker of New York City; two sisters, Ann Holloway of Corinth, Miss., and Sara Langton of San Jose, Calif.; two grandaughters, and one great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Jeffrey Terry, Tim Norton, Ricky Brenner, Roy Manley, Ernest C. "Snooky" Kimbrell, Shane Hitt, Brian Harris and Bradley Roden.

Gladys H. Barclift
92, homemaker

PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- Memorial service for Gladys H. Barclift, 92, of Panama City will be Friday at 5 p.m. at Grant Street Church of Christ in Decatur with Mike King officiating.

Mrs. Barclift died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Baycrest Nursing Home in Panama City. She was born March 12, 1909, in Columbia, Tenn. to George Hansell and Bessie Lee Cantrell Hansell. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Jenks Avenue Church of Christ. Mrs. Barclift was a partner in Cathy Fashions Dress Shop. She managed three apartment buildings in Decatur before moving to Panama City. She was the widow of Bennie A. Barclift Sr. and mother of the late William Edward "Ed" Barclift.

Survivors include three sons, William "Bill" Barclift of Panama City, Robert E. "Bob" Barclift of Kansas City, Kan., and Ben A. Barclift of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Charlene Bennich of Decatur and Helen Brigman of Charlotte, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Sallie Louise Fitzgerald
76, homemaker

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Sallie Louise Fitzgerald, 76, of Town Creek was Wednesday at noon at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Langham officiating.

Burial was in Cal Cemetery in Town Creek with Thompson and Son Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Fitzgerald died Friday, July 13, 2001, in Sewanee, Tenn. She was born Feb. 22, 1925, to Lit Sanders Sr. and Minnie Pearl Sanders. She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Shiann Harris of Town Creek; two brothers, Jimmy Garner and Willie B. Garner, both of Town Creek; two sisters, Selma Garner of Town Creek and Georgia Ricks of Leighton; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Sherry Ann Harrison
42, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Sherry Ann Harrison, 42, of Anderson will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral home with Guy McDaniel and Doug Matlock officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harrison died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at The University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. She was born Nov. 2, 1958, in Decatur to John Wesley Griffin and Ann Weir Griffin. She was a homemaker and a member of O'Neal Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Ricky Harrison; one son, Wesley Harrison of Anderson; one daughter, Ashley Harrison of Anderson; her parents of Athens; and two sisters, Lisa Pipes of Lester and Tracie Fuqua of Athens.

Memorials may be made to the Liver Research Foundation.

Finis J. Self
83, retired minister

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Finis J. Self, 83, of Hartselle will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerri Hunt and the Rev. Bill Bostick officiating.

Burial will be in Forrest Chapel Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Self died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born July 9, 1918, in St. Clair County to James Henry Self and Ollie Emaline Whittemore Self. He was a retired Methodist minister, after having served for 40 years. He retired from Redstone Arsenal in 1970 as an electrical engineer. He was a United States Army World War II veteran who received the Purple Heart. He was Alabama's 2000 Veteran of the Year. He was chaplain for the American Legion, Disabled Veterans, Veterans of Foreign War and Purple Heart Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Self; one son, Samuel L. Self of Santa Theresa, N.M.; two daughters, Sandra Jean Koch and Linda Sue Raper, both of Hartselle; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Don Rand, John Gillies, Euel James, J.R. Ogle, Don Powers and Harold Meeker.

Memorials may be made to Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church.

James Walter Tennis Teague Jr.
71, retired appliance salesman

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Graveside service for James Walter Tennis "Crazy Jim" Teague Jr., 71, of Fort Worth, formerly of Decatur, will be Friday at 9 a.m. in Green wood Memorial Park with the Rev. Roderick Miles officiating and Green wood Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Teague died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Harris Methodist Hospital. He was born July 26, 1929, in Lawrence County to James Walter Tennis Teague and Mattie Cooper Teague. He was a resident of Fort Worth since 1966 and an Army veteran. He was a retired appliance salesman. He was the widower of Vivian Teague.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Teague of Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, Sherry Vitek and Debbie Brookshire, both of Fort Worth; three brothers, Herbert Teague, Cleo Teague and Charles Teague, all of Decatur; two sisters, Lounette Husk of Omaha, Neb., and Faye Hughes of Decatur; his mother, Mattie Teague Nelms of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Bessie Norton Terry
92, homemaker

Funeral for Bessie Norton Terry, 92, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Scotty Hogan and the Rev. Scott Letson officiating.

Burial will be in Courtland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Terry died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 15, 1908, in Lawrence County, to William Henry Norton and Mary Alice Key Norton. She was a homemaker and a member of Westmeade Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Jean Terry Owen of Courtland, Bobbie Terry Harper of Huntsville and Avonne Terry Shelton of Decatur; one sister, Sallie Norton Bradford of Decatur; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Danny Mark Owen, Keith Terry Owen, William Brad Shelton, Bart Edwin Harper, Jerry Smith and D.D. Hale.

Robert G. Thurman

Graveside service for Robert G. Thurman, 67, of Huntsville will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Burningtree Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Walter Schmidt officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Thurman died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Birmingham. He was born July 27, 1933, in Utah. He was a Korean War veteran and a member of North Auburn Hills Baptist Church in Auburn Hills, Mich. He was a retired teamster.

Survivors include his wife, Rheta Thurman; two sons, Stanley Thurman of Toney and Stuart Thurman of Decatur; two daughters, Regina Naron of Topeka, Kan., and Carlene Ray of Decatur; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Nell Beach Dix Wade

Magnolia Key Lewis

Funeral for Magnolia Key Lewis, 78, of Somerville will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ward Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Annie Elliott officiating.

Burial will be in Somerville Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Lewis died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at her sister's home in Hartselle. She was born April 21, 1923, in Morgan County to Henry Key and Minnie Graham Key. She was a member of Ward Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served on the stewardess board and was president of the Missionary Society.

Survivors include three sisters, Arminda Davis and Lizzell Cowley, both of Somerville, and Menelia McGinnies of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be William Jackson, Antonio Cowley, Shelby Williams, Charles Ratliff, Arthur Strain and Clarence Orr.

Roy Peebles
85, retired patent model maker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Roy Peebles, 85, of Falkville will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Childs officiating.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery near Eva. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Peebles died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at his home. He was born July 3, 1916, in Lawrence County to James Walter Peebles and Alice Mabel Owens Peebles. He retired from General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Mich., as a patent model maker. He was the father of the late Jonni P. Livingston.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby V. Hopper Peebles; two sons, James R. Peebles of North Fort Myers, Fla., and K. Michael Peebles of Hartselle; four daughters, Betty Jo Resha of Goodlettsville, Tenn., Sarah E. Chadwell of Tazewell, Tenn., Alice F. Mahon of Rockwood, Mich., and Linda K. Shelkey of Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Buxin, Jason Mahon, Jerry Mahon, James R. Peebles, K. Michael Peebles and Scott Shelkey.
