Funeral for Gladys Lee Sharp Eubanks, 85, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Hank Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eubanks died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Morgan County to Washington Ivy Sharp and Mamie Echols Sharp. She was a bookkeeper for Commercial Credit, Jack Higginbotham Corp. and Goodyear. She was a member of Sixth Avenue Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Brown of Decatur and Beverly Sankey of Manassas, Va.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mary Aster Jones
58, homemaker

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Mary Aster Jones, 58, of Town Creek will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bacarakai Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Wash Tilla Cemetery with Thompson & Son Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Jones died Thursday, July 19, 2001. She was born April 7, 1943, in Town Creek to Louis Harris Jr. and Gretha Tenchion Harris. She was homemaker and a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Agneast Jones; one son, Kenneth Harris of Town Creek; three daughters, Cynthia Harris, Angela Davis and Sheila Rae Harris, all of Town Creek; five step-sons, Agneast Jones Jr. of Town Creek, Jerome Jones of Detroit, Mich., and Craig Jones, Malcolm Jones and Lloyd Jones, all of Louisville; four step-daughters, Evelyn Hill of Detroit, Beverlyn Jones, Helen Jones and Joann Keen, all of Louisville; two brothers, Louis Harris III and Robert E. Harris, both of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters, Lillie Lee Whitfield of Chattanooga, and Emma Jean McCoy and Cora Harris, both of Town Creek; and 16 grandchildren.

Hazel Freeman Kirk
88, retired bookkeeper

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Hazel Freeman Kirk, 88, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Phillip Hines, Tom McLure, Charles Stidham and William McDole officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kirk died Sunday, July 22, 2001, in Jefferson County. She was born July 26, 1912, in Morgan County to George Greek Freeman and Era V. Powell Freeman. She was a retired bookkeeper from Sivley Cotton Company in Hartselle. She was a member of the Hartselle Church of Christ. She was the widow of John B. Kirk and sister of the late Mable Freeman and Nyna Freeman.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Kirk and Rebecca Kirk, both of Birmingham.

Pallbearers will be Dee Proctor, Don Wear, Bill Kelly, Granville Woodruff, Eric Summerford and A.D. Arrington.

Robert Wallace Montgomery
91, Auburn professor

OPELIKA -- Graveside service for Robert Wallace Montgomery, 91, of Auburn was to be today at 10 a.m. at Auburn Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. John Jeffers officiating and Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Montgomery died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Bethany House in Auburn. He was born April 22, 1910, in Wren. He received his bachelor's degree from Auburn University and his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He was department head of vocational and adult education at Auburn from 1961 until his retirement as professor emeritus in 1981. He was president of the Alabama Rehabilitation Association and was named to the Vocational Association Hall of Fame. He received Ohio State University's Centennial Award and Auburn's Outstanding Education Alumnus Award. He also was a civil rights activist. He was the widower of Stella Etheredge Montgomery, who was reared in Town Creek.

Survivors include two sons, Bob Montgomery of Midway and Ron Montgomery of Auburn; one daughter, Linda C. Montgomery of Auburn; one brother, Marion Montgomery of Wren; one sister, Irene Shoemaker of Wren; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Robert Charles Norton
49, bail bondsman

MOULTON -- Funeral for Robert Charles Norton, 49, of Courtland will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert Hodge officiating.

Burial will be in Courtland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Norton died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1952, in Courtland. He was a bail bondsman.

Survivors include one son, Brian Norton of Courtland; one daughter, Tanya Garrie of Courtland; one brother, Jimmy Norton of Town Creek; one sister, Lois Jean Norton of Courtland; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ray Wilkerson, Doug Moody, Howard Harding, Mike Fulkner, Garrett Taylor and Almond White.

Raymond E. Sherrill
81, retired chief of aircraft maintenance

Funeral for Raymond E. Sherrill, 81, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Sherrill died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Lawrence County to Sherman Sherrill and Susie Norwood Sherrill. He served in World War II as a C-47 crew chief and later flew crop dusters all over the Tennessee Valley. He worked for Chemstrand and retired as chief of aircraft maintenance for Monsanto.

Survivors include his wife, Tibby Sherrill; and one son, Michael Sherrill of Santa Cruz, Calif.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Annie Lee Bohnet
80, retired dietitian

PRICEVILLE -- Funeral for Annie Lee Bohnet, 80, of Falkville will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pine Street Baptist Church in Falkville with the Rev. Roger Ammons and the Rev. Doug Hawkins officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Tabor Methodist Cemetery with Priceville Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bohnet died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born June 22, 1921, in Alabama to John Frazier and Minnie Huskey Frazier. She retired as a dietitian from LaGrange Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Bohnet; one stepson, Dennis Bohnet of Pensacola; two stepdaughters, Sandra Jean Whitcomb and Audrey Diane Bohnet, both of Lancaster, Calif.; one sister, Madline Lipsey of Falkville; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Earkley Frazier, Jason Frazier, Robert Coffman, Howard Frazier, Scott Frazier and James Frazier.

Billy Mose Carroll
69, Teledyne retiree

GRAYSON, Ky. -- Funeral for Billy Mose Carroll, 69, of Athens will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Anderson and the Rev. Darrel Campbell officiating.

Burial will be in East Carter Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home in Athens.

Mr. Carroll died Monday, July 23, 2001, at his home. He was born March 27, 1932, in Stinson, Ky., to Homer Carroll and Ollie Carroll. He was a member of East Highland Baptist Church. He was a Korean War veteran and was a member of Disabled American Veterans. He was the former plant manager at Mueller Brass Company in Hartsville, Tenn., and American Standard in Columbus, Ohio, and Wilmington, N.C. He retired from Teledyne Advanced Materials in Grant. He was brother of the late Lucille Carroll and Betty Carroll.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Carroll; one son, James Michael Carroll of Germany; one daughter, Jodi Lynn Carroll Atkins of Rock Hill, S.C.; two sisters, Wanda Mennix of Grayson, Ky., and Jo Ann Thomas of Olive Hill, Ky.; and four grandchildren.

Norma Jane Goodwin Cobb
61, retired marketing manager

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Norma Jane Goodwin Cobb, 61, of Cullman will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Sulpher Springs Church with the Rev. Troy "Butch" Cleghorn officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Cullman Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cobb died Monday, July 23, 2001, at her home. She was born April 6, 1940, in Cullman to the Rev. Burt Goodwin and Minnie Gray Goodwin. She retired as marketing manager for Maison Morgan. She was the sister of the late Carl Goodwin and the late Vonell Murray.

Survivors include one son, Chuck Cobb of Hartselle; two daughters, Terri Turrentine of Hartselle and Tina Hopper Bader of New York; two sisters, Ruth Johnson and Doris Harbison, both of Cullman; her mother of Cullman; and three grandchildren.

Mary Ellen Gaddis
54, social worker

MOULTON -- Memorial service for Mary Ellen Rutherford Gaddis, 54, of Killen will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with Dexter Rutherford officiating.

Mrs. Gaddis died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at her home. She was born Oct. 22, 1946, in Lawrence County to Lonnie Rutherford and Nadine Craig Rutherford. She was a social worker for the Alabama Department of Human Resources. She received her bachelors degree from the University of North Alabama and her masters degree in social work from the University of Alabama.

Survivors include one son, Tomoka Gaddis of Killen; her mother of Hatton; one brother, Wayne Rutherford of Hatton; and one sister, Jackie Gaddis of Hatton.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Marjorie Sue Alexander Lewis
68, homemaker

Funeral for Marjorie Sue Alexander Lewis, 68, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Hank Smith and the Rev. Rocky Goodwin officiating.

A graveside service will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 6 to 8 and one hour before the service.

Mrs. Lewis died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Nov. 25, 1932, in Courtland to Lester Cross and Juanita Cross. She was a homemaker and an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was the widow of Edgar Charles Alexander.

Survivors include her husband, T.W. Lewis; one son, Charles Alexander of Decatur; six daughters, Teresa Corbin and Angie Shelton, both of Destin, Fla., Marjorie Moore and Lisa Alexander, both of Decatur, Abigail Wright of Caddo and Amy Terry of Danville; two stepsons, Mike Lewis of Alpharetta, Ga., and Larry Lewis of Decatur; two brothers, Bob Cross of Moulton and Dale Cross of Tennessee; two sisters, Jeanette Goodwin of Warren, Ark., and Joyce Vandiver of Danville; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include grandsons Seth Wright, Wesley Shelton, Christian Wright, Justin Shelton, Josh Moore, and Ben Lewis.

James Dewitt 'Jim' Pinkard Jr.
55, insurance agent

CULLMAN -- Funeral for James Dewitt "Jim" Pinkard Jr., 55, of Cullman was to be today at 2 p.m. at Center Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Hall officiating.

Burial was to be in the adjoining cemetery with Williams-McCracken Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Pinkard died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. He was born Jan. 18, 1946, in Anniston to James Dewitt Pinkard and Gladys Estelle Yates Pinkard. He was an All-State insurance agent for 28 years. He was the grandson of the late Gene and Ethel Pinkard and the late Troy and Tessie Yates.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bradford Pinkard; one son, James Dustin Pinkard of Cullman; his parents of Cullman; and one brother, Rudy Pinkard of Hartselle.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to The University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital fund.

John William Roberts
80, retired business owner

ATHENS -- Memorial service for John William Roberts, 80, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Robert Hall officiating.

A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time for the service.

Mr. Roberts died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at his home. He was born August 14, 1920, in Decatur to William Ross Roberts and Katie Clyde Roberts. He was a member of Tanner Church of Christ. He was a United States Navy World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He owned Roberts Shoe Shop in Decatur.

Survivors include his wife, Edra Mae Roberts of Athens; one son, Billy Wayne Roberts of Decatur; one stepson, Carroll Ray Cooper of Athens; three stepdaughters, Sherron Moss of Jackson Gap, Kae Green of Harvest and Lynn Abney of Universal, Texas; one brother, Donald Roberts of Milton, Fla.; three grandchildren and 12 step grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
