Edna Ruth Woodward

ATHENS -- Funeral for Edna Ruth Woodward, 88, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Bobby Graham officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Woodward died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Athens Convalescent Center. She was born Dec. 29, 1912, in Limestone County to James Robert and Ida Bridgeforth Corder. She was a homemaker and a member of the Market Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Stephen Woodward of Hartsville, Tenn., and Lakin Corder Woodward and David Harold Woodward, both of Athens; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Herman Beasley, Aubrey Beasley, Billy Gene Griffin, Jeff Smith, John Harper and Jeff Woodward.

Clinton Howard Bailey
58, brick mason
Funeral for Clinton Howard Bailey, 58, of Courtland will be Saturday at noon at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Reeves officiating.

Burial will be in Galilee Church Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bailey died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at his home. He was born March 8, 1943, in Leighton to Joe Bailey Sr. and Annie Sledge Allen. He was a brick mason and co-owner of Bailey Construction Co. He was a 1962 graduate of Leighton Training School and a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Mason Bailey; one son, Juan Bailey of Huntsville; one daughter, Renata Bailey of Courtland; his father of Leighton; his mother of Town Creek; his stepmother, Mizella Bailey of Leighton; five brothers, Charles Bailey, Joe Bailey Jr., and Deterian Bailey, all of Leighton, Quinton Bailey of Muscle Shoals and James Bailey of Decatur; three sisters, Helen Bailey, and Dorothy Bailey, both of Leighton, and Sandra Aycock of Tuscumbia; three stepbrothers, Alphonso Napier of Moulton, Andre Napier of Dayton, Ohio, and Tommie Allen of Decatur; two stepsisters, Ronda Jones of Town Creek and Romelia Allen of Leighton; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be classmates of Leighton Training School.

John W. 'Bill' Hampton
72, construction owner

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for John W. "Bill" Hampton, 72, of Hartselle, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. Jimmy Dean and the Rev. Milan Dekich officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hampton died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Morgan County to James Toxie Hampton and Nell Dixie Breedlove Johnson. He was co-owner of Hampton Brothers Construction Co. for 40 years. He co-owned Morgan County Concrete for 22 years and was the former owner of Hampton Hauling. Mr. Hampton was a member of King's Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joan W. Hampton of Hartselle; three sons, Will Hampton and Jonathan Hampton, both of Hartselle, and Chris McLemore of Brent; three daughters, Jenny Thompson of Hartselle, Leatha Stripling of Decatur and Ginny Patrick of Montgomery; one brother, James E. Hampton of Hartselle; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Garrison, Jim Hampton, Fred Hembree, Dean Johnson, Randy Maner, Malcom Sybert, Gary W. Wright and Wendell Wright.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Delilah Miller
46, cook

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Delilah Miller, 46, of Falkville will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Peck Funeral Home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Miss Miller died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Jan. 31, 1955, in Morgan County, to Jessie R. Miller and Opal Brown Miller. She was a cook and a private sitter.

Survivors include one brother, Gary Miller of Falkville; and one sister, Susan Brown of Falkville.

Pallbearers will be Andy Brown, Larry Brown, Mark Koditek, Greg Miller, Jason Miller and Jeff Miller.

Mary Ann Pointer
45, homemaker

Funeral for Mary Ann Pointer, 45, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Josie Madden officiating.

Burial will be in Early Pastor Cemetery in Hillsboro with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home and at the church for one hour before the service.

Mrs. Pointer died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at her home. She was born Dec. 7, 1957, in Lawrence County to the late Robert Pointer and JimElla Williams Pointer. She was a member of Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Willie James Pointer of Decatur; one daughter, Lora Jean Pointer of Decatur; her mother of Decatur; four sisters, Fannie M. Pointer, Rosa L. Bynum, Debra Carter and Shirley A. Malone, all of Decatur; five brothers, John Pointer, Lemon Pointer, Robert Pointer, and Jessie Pointer, all of Decatur, and Eddie Pointer of Louisville, Ky.; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Robert Robinson, Cordial Clay, Frederick Carter, Alfonso Goode, Robert Goode, and Clarence Goode.

Florine Hollimon Smith
79, grocery store owner

MOULTON -- Funeral for Florine Hollimon Smith, 79, of Moulton will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with William "Bill" Becker officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at her home. She was born March 21, 1922, in Lawrence County, to Paul Hollimon and Louella Pierce Hollimon. She owned Smith Grocery in Mount Hope. She was the widow of Clark Smith and the sister of the late Coy Hollimon and Kathleen Bradford.

Survivors include two brothers, Therman Hollimon and Wilvin Hollimon, both of Moulton.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Hollimon, Scotty Hollimon, Roland Hollimon, Edwin Hollimon, Jerry Purser and Benny Hollis.

Mildred Cammack
83, homemaker
MOULTON -- Funeral for Mildred Cammack, 83, of Moulton will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Darryl Wood officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Mrs. Cammack died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in Clinton, La. She was born April 1, 1918 to Emett and Minnie Pollison. She was a member of Moulton Baptist Church and worked for the Lawrence County Health Department.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Keefer of Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Cathrine Bush of Hartselle and Mrs. Glenn Jones of Sulligent; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Joiner, Harland Joiner, Christopher Brown, Ronnie Jones, Mark Keefer and J.E. Turner.

Donald Dean
36, laborer

ATHENS -- Funeral for Donald Dean, 36, of Athens will be Saturday at noon at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Bailey officiating.

Burial will be in Garrett Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Dean died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1964, in Limestone County to Nathan Dean and Earlie Mae Williams Dean. He was an employee of Sweet Sue Kitchens.

Survivors include one brother, Nathan Dean Jr. of Athens; two sisters, Cynthia Williams of Decatur and Debbie Johnson of Athens; and his parents, Nathan Dean Sr. of Huntsville and Earlie Mae Hill of Athens.

Horace Raymond Durham
93, Solutia Inc. retiree

PULASKI, Tenn. -- Funeral for Horace Raymond Durham, 83, of Minor Hill, Tenn., will be Saturday at Booth Chapel Church of Christ with Danny Pettus officiating.

Burial will be in Hester Cemetery with Carr & Erwin Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Durham died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Hillside Hospital. He was born April 28, 1918, in Alabama. He served as a Marine for six years during World War II. He served as a leader of Booth Chapel Church of Christ at Minor Hill for 50 years. He retired from Monsanto, now Solutia Inc., after 24 years.

Survivors include three sons, Ray Durham of Decatur, Paul Durham of Atlanta and Tony Durham of Germantown, Tenn.; one daughter, Judy Smith of Byron, Ga.; five brothers, Gerald D. Durham and Richard Durham, both of Lester, Joe Durham of Athens, Franklin Durham of Five Points, Tenn., and David Durham of Minor Hill; two sisters, Mary Gatlin and Bonnie Barnett, both of Florida; eight grandchildren; and five great-grand- children.

Charles Banks Fisher
58, retired TVA reactor operator

Funeral for Charles Banks Fisher, 58, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Chris Pressnell officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Fisher died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 21, 1943, in Jackson, Tenn., to Banks Johnson Fisher and Laverne Powers Fisher. He was a retired reactor operator for Tennessee Valley Authority. He was the brother of the late Nola Anne Fisher Haynes. He was married 38 years to Judith B. Fisher.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Tracy Widner, Kimberly Scales and Heather Aldridge, all of Decatur, and Amy Lowery of Cordelle, Ga.; two grandsons and three granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to the building fund at Austinville Church of Christ, 2833 Danville Road S.W., Decatur, AL 35603, or Flint Church of Christ, 105 Mills St., Decatur, AL 35611.

Henry Clyde "Hank" Harris
76, retired NASA employee

ATHENS -- Funeral for Henry Clyde "Hank" Harris of Athens will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed McCracken and the Rev. George Wallace Haynes officiating.

Burial will be in Parkburg Cemetery in Pinson, Tenn., at 2 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Harris died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was retired from NASA and was an avid long-distance runner who completed a marathon at age 57. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps as a young man. He was a World War II Army veteran. He served as a U.S. president's representative to the Panama Canal for the Third Locks Project. He was the father of the late Gary Harris.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Harris; one daughter, Ena Harris Shelley of Atlanta, Ga.; four sons, Davy Harris and Chris Harris, both of Athens, and Steve Harris and Marty Harris, both of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Harold Harris of Jackson, Tenn.; two sisters, Catherine Arnold of Pinson, Tenn., and Joan Knowlton of Jackson, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Bendall, Leamon Britton, Bob Beauchamp, Paul Whitt, Danny Crews, Doug Crews and Frankie Crews.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society of America.

Leigh Ann Lawrence
40, production worker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Leigh Ann Lawrence, 40, of Hartselle will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Allen officiating.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Ms. Lawrence died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at her home. She was born March 25, 1961, to Sue Pitman Lawrence of Hartselle and the late Gurney Bernard Lawrence. She was a graduate of Morgan County High School and was employed as a production worker by Lakeland Industry.

Survivors include her mother; and two brothers, Scotty Lawrence of Hartselle and Patrick Lawrence of Trinity.

Pallbearers will be Alex Garcia, Billy Lawrence, Clint Lawrence, Jimmy Lawrence, Justin Moore and Jeff Simpson.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Hartselle.
