William C. Alexander
80, retired shipbuilder
Funeral for William C. Alexander, 80, of River Ridge, La., will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Alexander died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at East Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Metairie, La. He was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Decatur to Samuel Alexander. He was retired as a ship builder from Avondale Shipyard in New Orleans and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp before World War II, and lived most of his life in New Orleans.

Survivors include one son, Roger Alexander of Blue Ridge, Ga.; three sisters, Iris Morgan, Pauline Verner and Zelma Dial, all of Decatur; and three grandchildren.

Jeremy Ray Ball
21, brick mason

HALEYVILLE -- Funeral for Jeremy Ray Ball, 21, of Addison will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Addison Church of God with Sammy Parker officiating.

Burial will be in the adjacent cemetery with Nichols Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home

Mr. Ball died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Etowah County. He was born Sept. 27, 1979, in Birmingham to Raymond Jackson Ball Jr. and Phyllis Ball. He was a brick mason.

Survivors include his wife, Tracee Ball; one son, Caleb Ball of Addison; his parents, of Houston; three sisters, Angela Smith of Addison, Donna Ball of Houston and Jennifer Crow of Moreland; and his grandmother, Thelma Minyard of Moulton.

Frank Bray
83, retired machinist

MOULTON -- Funeral for Frank Bray, 83, of Moulton will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with Virgil Calhoun officiating.

Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bray died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at his home. He was born March 17, 1918, in Corinth, Miss., to Byrd Bray and Susie Wilkerson Bray. He was retired as a machinist in Chicago and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the father of the late Charles "Butch" Bray.

Survivors include his wife, Lizzie Calhoun Bray; one son, James Bray of Chicago; two daughters, Glenda Zbien of Cornucopia, Wis., and Charlotte McGue of Chicago; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Doyle Little, Winfred Bray, Wendell Bray, Tommy Joiner, Starlin Blankenship, Bobby Little and Keary Bonds.

Mildred Tollison Cammack
83, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Mildred Tollison Cammack, 83, of Moulton was Saturday at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Darryl Wood officiating.

Burial was in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Cammack died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in Clinton, La. She was born April 1, 1918, in Lawrence County to Emmett W. Tollison and Minnie Turner Tollison. She was a homemaker and worked for the Lawrence County Health Department.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Keefer of Clinton; two sisters, Glenn Jones of Sulligent and Catherine Bush of Hartselle; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Brown, Mark Keefer, J.E. Turner, Tommy Joiner, Harlon Joiner and Ronnie Jones.

Lucille Scharnagel Clark
95, teacher

Funeral for Lucille Scharnagel Clark, 95, of Decatur will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hal Noble and the Rev. Mitchell Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until the service.

Mrs. Clark died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at her home. She was born April 10, 1906, in Spruce Pine to Ernest Scharnagel and Eudora Spraggins Scharnagel. She was the widow of Prentiss H. Clark. A teacher at Trinity High School and Austinville High School, she taught the Fidelis Class at Central United Methodist, where she was a member. Mrs. Clark was a charter member of the Mothers Club, Travelers Garden Club, Trowlers Club and Federation of Garden Club, and was a member of the Women's Culture Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Dora Payne of Decatur and Linda C. Boyd of Dawson, Ga.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren Clark Wallace, Tim Douthit, Ben Wallace, Greg Douthit, Lucy Wallace and Prentiss Douthit.

Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Building in Faith Fund, 618 Grant St. S.E., Decatur, AL 35601.

Wade Clinton Cook
37, brick mason

Funeral for Wade Clinton Cook, 37, of Decatur will be Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Danny Gibson officiating.

Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Cook died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Gadsden. He was born Dec. 26, 1963, in Columbus, Miss., to Vester Cook and Georgette Cook. He was a brick mason and the brother of the late Pamela Cook.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Cook; one son, Zachery Wade Cook of Russellville; two daughters, April Terry and Ashley Terry, both of Decatur; one stepson, James Richard McCulloch of Trinity; his father, of Russellville and his mother, of Moulton; his stepmother, Joyce Cook of Russellville; five brothers, Vester Clinton Cook, Vester Gregory Cook, Joseph Hayes, Joseph Dennis Cook and Buddy Cook, all of Russellville; three sisters, Annie Cook Sledge, Christian Sullivan and Anita Cook, all of Russellville; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be James McCulloch, Wesley Crunk, Barry Wooley, Terrell Newsome, O.J. Michael and Donnie Clark.

Bobbie Lucille Farmer

ATHENS -- Bobbie Lucille Farmer, 70, of Athens died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Farmer was born Oct. 18, 1930, in Pulaski, Tenn.

Survivors include one son, James Homer Farmer of The Coloney, Texas; two daughters, Rhonda Lee Casey of Cooper City, Fla., and Patricia Kay Farmer of Athens; one brother, James Hardy Phillips of Wichita Falls, Texas; one sister, Roberta Tuck of Huntsville; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County, P.O. Box 626, Athens, AL 35612.

Charles Banks Fisher
58, retired TVA reactor operator

Funeral for Charles Banks Fisher, 58, of Decatur will be today at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Chris Pressnell officiating.

Mr. Fisher died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 21, 1943, in Jackson, Tenn., to Banks Johnson Fisher and Laverne Powers Fisher. He was a retired reactor operator for Tennessee Valley Authority. He was the brother of the late Nola Anne Fisher Haynes. He was married 38 years to Judith B. Fisher.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Tracy Widner, Kimberly Scales and Heather Aldridge, all of Decatur, and Amy Lowery of Cordelle, Ga.; two grandsons and three granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Austinville Church of Christ, 2833 Danville Road S.W., Decatur, AL 35603 or Flint Church of Christ, 105 Mills St., Decatur, AL 35611.

Norris Hinton Giles
72, retired U.S. Army

Funeral for Norris Hinton Giles, 72, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richard T. Lawson and the Rev. Sandra Locke-Godbey officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church library.

Mr. Giles died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Decatur. He was born May 23, 1929, in Farmington, Ga., to Henry H. Giles and Clarice Hall Giles. He was retired as a sergeant major from the U.S. Army. He was a volunteer for Hospice of the Valley, Volunteer Center and the Red Cross, and was active in local politics. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church

Survivors include his wife, Kay Giles; one son, Norris H. "Butch" Giles Jr. of Nicholson, Ga.; one stepson, Brad Misner of Decatur; two stepdaughters, Missy Misner of Decatur and Jennifer Riley of Muscle Shoals; one sister, Bobbie Jean Nunn of Athens; eight step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Brad Misner, Tony Riley, Willis Brown, Bill Dukes, J.O. Barnette and Russell Smith.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, St. John's Episcopal Church Outreach and American Red Cross.

Nancy Jo Sims Lindsey

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Nancy Jo Sims Lindsey, 59, of Decatur will be today at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. W.G. Henry, the Rev. Bill Cole and the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Lindsey died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at her home. She was born Sept. 14, 1941, in Tennessee, to George D. "G.D." Daniel Sims and Irene Gurley Sims. She was a member of Hartselle United Methodist Church and worked with her husband in various businesses.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Lindsey Jr.; three daughters, Laura Jo Lindsey and Dinah Dobbs, both of Hartselle, and Meg Harrell of Madison; one brother, George W. Sims of Navarre, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Howard Belser, Darrell Codding, Ike Groover, Charles Hardy, Lee Hartsell, Max Jones, Larry Lemons and Bill Camp.

James Henry Moss

ATHENS -- Funeral for James Henry Moss, 64, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

Mr. Moss died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born May 14, 1937, in Limestone County, to Henry Moss and Avo Moss. He was retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip Moss of Memphis and Randall Moss of Brunswick, Ga.; one daughter, Jamie Young of Memphis; his parents, of Athens; two brothers, O'Neal Moss of Athens and J. W. Moss of Hartselle; two sisters, Elaine Blankenship and Pattie Adell Lovell, both of Athens; and four grandchildren.

Ruth Irene Patterson
77, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ruth Irene Patterson, 77, of Athens will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Jackson officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Patterson died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at her home. She was born July 22, 1924, in Chassel, Mich., to August Jurva and Hilder Jurva. She was a homemaker and a member of Athens Church of God. She was the mother of the late Sandra Isom.

Survivors include her husband, George Patterson; one son, Tom Patterson of Athens; seven brothers, Roy Jurvis of Houghton, Mich., Jack Jurva and Paul Jurva, both of Detroit, Mich., Melvin Jury and Weldon Jurva, both of Houghton, Mich., William "Bill" Jurva of Casslake, Mich., and Gerald Jurva of Farmington, Mich.; four sisters, Lorna Jurva and Betty Jane Jurva, both of Farmington, Geraldine Zehr of Milwaukee, Wis., and Anna Bell Jurva of Farmington Hills, Mich.; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Speakman died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Aug. 24, 1951, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Ludwig Eckhardt and Hella Eckhardt. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Speakman; three sons, Norman Terry, Danny Ray Speakman and Eric Ryan Speakman, all of Hartselle; one daughter, Lela Kay Gifford of Winchester, Tenn.; one sister, Gitte Goodman of San Diego; and four grandchildren.
