Funeral for Crystal LeAnn Chapman, 12, of Decatur will be Wednesday at noon at Apostolic Church of God with the Rev. Kelvin Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Miss Chapman died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. She was born Sept. 17, 1988, in Morgan County to Estheleta Faye Chapman. She attended Hillcrest Middle School and Apostolic Church of God.

Survivors include her parents, Estheleta Faye Chapman Stevens and Curtis Stevens; one brother, Darrius DeShawn Stevens Chapman of Tuscaloosa; four sisters, Denise Fabria Stevens, Desiree Allysha Stevens, Porsha LaSha Stevens and Asha Monique Stevens, all of Tuscaloosa; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hezekiah Chapman of Decatur, Carroll Cain of Decatur and Alma Louise Stevens of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be Mario Chapman, Jerome Chapman, Larry Chapman, Edward Stegall, Brian Stewart and Randy Richardson.

Robert James Maplesden
71, retired senior traffic analyst

ATHENS -- Funeral for Robert James Maplesden, 71, of Athens will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Joseph Allen officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Maplesden died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Chicago to William Taylor Maplesden and Ellen Kathryn Milligan Maplesden. He served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force for more than six years and received the World War II Victory Ribbon and the good conduct medal. He worked at Wolverine Tube for 21 years and retired as senior traffic analyst. He served on the board of directors of the Community Action Agency and the Department of Human Resources. He was an income tax preparation volunteer for RSVP. He was past treasurer of the parish council and music director of St. Paul Catholic Church. He served as treasurer and outreach chairman of Churches Involved.

Survivors include his wife, June Maplesden; three sons, Larry Maplesden, Bobby Maplesden and Johnny Maplesden, all of Athens; three daughters, Mary Ellen Phillips and Karen Clem, both of Athens, and Sandi Hill of Spring Hill, Tenn.; two brothers, William Frank Maplesden of Rockford, Ill., and Hugh A. Maplesden of Silver Spring, Md.; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tim Massey, Brian Tittle, Jim Massey, Joey Tittle, David Clem and Bob Harpe.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or Churches Involved in care of the Department of Human Resources of Limestone County.

Wilburn Woods Sloan Jr.
54, Wolverine Tube employee

Memorial service for Wilburn Woods Slogan Jr., 54, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Sterrs Cemetery with the Rev. George Franklin officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Sloan died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in Decatur. He was born Sept. 25, 1946, in Morgan County to Wilburn Woods Sloan Sr. and Real Robinson. He was employed at Wolverine Tube and was a Vietnam War veteran who served with the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include three sons, Wilburn Woods Sloan III, Joey Sloan and Jeremy Sloan, all of Decatur; one daughter, Donna Garrett of Bartlett, Ill.; his mother, Reola Robinson of Rochester, N.Y.; and one grandchild.

Gregory Turney Childers
55, self-employed electrician

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Gregory Turney Childers, 55, of Hartselle will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Cook Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Childers died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Dec. 18, 1945, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Brady Lewis Childers and Bessie Vanell Turney Childers. He was the brother of the late Steve Childers. He was a self-employed electrician.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Childers of Hartselle; one son, Jesse Calem Childers of Hartselle; one daughter, Jamie Danelle Childers of Hartselle; two brothers, Anthony Childers of Oden Ridge and Keith Childers of Hartselle; one half brother, Lewis Childers of Sanford, Fla.; one sister, Suzanne Childers of Hartselle; and two half-sisters, Betty Eastham and Dorothy Childers.

Pallbearers will be Connie Walling, Jim Montgomery, Eric Turney, Johnny Childers, Terry Miller and Bill Bearden.

Tommy Dean Dobbins
50, truck driver

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Tommy Dean Dobbins, 50, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Callahan officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Dobbins died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 26, 1950, in Morgan County to Bill Dobbins and Daisey Gamble Dobbins. He was a self-employed truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Dobbins of Decatur; one daughter, Dawn Randolph of Trinity; three brothers, Doyle Dobbins of Danville and Charles Dobbins and Patrick Dobbins, both of Hartselle; two sisters, Billie Way of Danville and Martha Newlin, of Decatur; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be David Dobbins, Tommy Key, Tim Key, Brent Randolph, Larry Dutton and Jack Morris.

Gwendolyn Hamrick Fuller
74, retired DHR employee

MOULTON -- Funeral for Gwendolyn Hamrick Fuller, 74, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Moulton Baptist Church with the Rev. Daryl Wood officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens with Elliott Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fuller died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at her home. She was born June 29, 1927, in Cullman County to Leo Hamrick and Doris Mackland Hamrick. She was the widow of Bill Fuller. She was a member of Moulton Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She worked 18 years for Moulton Implement Company and retired from the Department of Human Resources after 18 years.

Survivors include one son, Charles Fuller of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be Roger Weatherwax, Tommy Praytor, Steve McLemore, Jerry Carroll, Larry Gilley and Keith Gilley.

Kimpnezor Garner
87, retired construction worker

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Kimpnezor Garner, 87, of Town Creek will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jessie Little officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Thompson & Son Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before services.

Mr. Garner died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at his home. He was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Lawrence County to Fred Garner and Georgianna Lightfoot Garner. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, James Garner, Marvin Garner and Theodore Garner, all of Town Creek, and Harold Garner, David Garner and Raymond D. Garner, all of Hillsboro; five daughters, Mary C. Watkins of Chattanooga, Traycine Rice and Yvonne Fearn, both of Huntsville, and Brenda McCally and Vivian Garner, both of Town Creek; one brother, Matt Garner of Town Creek; one sister, Cora Grant of Flint; 40 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren.

Eddie F. Howard
83, retired machine operator

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Eddie F. Howard, 83, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. W.G. Henry officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Howard died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born June 30, 1918, in Morgan County to William Jasper Howard and Annie Eubanks Howard. He was a retired machine operator from Monsanto.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Howard; three sons, Jimmie A. Howard, Ronald Howard and Jeffrey L. Howard, all of Hartselle; one daughter, Myra H. Garrett of Hartselle; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Craig Garrett, Blake Garrett, Steve Howard, Kelly Howard, Clint Howard and J.D. Cross.

Patricia Evon Kieff
33, Athens resident

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Patricia Evon Kieff, 33, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at New Salem Cemetery with the Rev. Milton Burks officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Miss Kieff died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Dec. 20, 1967, in Limestone County to Joe Kieff and Carol Kieff.

In addition to her parents of Athens, survivors include two brothers, Marty Kieff of Elkmont and Bobby Kieff of Athens; one sister, Pam Stanford of Athens; and her grandmother, Corene Gordon of Pulaski, Tenn.

78, retired equipment specialist

ATHENS -- Funeral for James Brandon Marbut, 78, of Elkmont will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. James Adams and the Rev. Thomas Farris officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Marbut died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Feb. 4, 1923, in Limestone County to Thomas Emmett Marbut and Fannie Bridgeforth Marbut. He retired as an equipment specialist at Redstone Arsenal after 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a charter member of Salem Springs Baptist Church. He was the widower of Edith Ezell Marbut.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Marbut; one son, Jon Marbut of Cordova, Tenn.; four daughters, Margaret McMullins of Athens, Kaye Blakney of Tuscaloosa and Alice Glanton and Jennifer Lovell, both of Elkmont; two stepdaughters, Suzette Turner of Birmingham and Teresa Johnson of Madison; one brother, Eugene Marbut of Athens; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two step grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Shane Glanton, Brandon Blakney, Will Lovell, Matt Lovell, Jim Lovell and Jordan Lovell.

Memorials may be made to Salem Springs Baptist Church building fund.

Mary H. Mason
78, Wayne Farms retiree

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Mary H. Mason, 78, of Town Creek will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church of Town Creek with the Rev. Ernest L. Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Flower Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro with Thompson and Son Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church for one hour before the service.

Mrs. Mason died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 22, 1922, to Riley Cheatom and Geneva Jackson. She was the widow of Neal Mason Sr., and the mother of the late Lela Mason Deloney and the late Eddie Mason. She had been a member of First Missionary Baptist Church since she was a child. She was retired from Wayne Farms.

She is survived by four sons, Neal Mason of Sheffield, Bernard Mason of Courtland and Larry Mason and William Mason, both of Town Creek; three daughters, Geneva Wilson of Chattanooga, and Ida Bell King and Myrtle Wiggins, both of Town Creek; one stepdaughter, Ester Lee Moore of Leighton; two brothers, James Cheatom of Florence and Kenny Cheatom of Muscle Shoals; one sister, Frankie Pilliar of Sheffield; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.
