Billy Don Harville

TRINITY -- Funeral for Billy Don Harville, 55, of Moulton will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral home with the Rev. Jackie Shelton officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Harville died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at his home. He was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Lawrence County, to Vernon Harville and Maudie Hale Harville. He was a carpenter and was the brother of the late Jeanette Cotton.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Don Harville Jr. of Decatur and Jason Paul Harville of Moulton; six brothers, Troy Harville of Danville, Randall Harville of Chicago, Ray V. Harville of Cullman, Mickey Harville of Decatur, Rickey Harville and Frankie Harville, both of Moulton; one sister, Kathy Ard of Cullman; and two grandchildren.

Laverne Blankenship Huffstutler

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Laverne Blankenship Huffstutler, 74, of Hartselle will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. John L. Elliott officiating.

Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

Mrs. Huffstutler died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Falkville Health Care Center. She was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Morgan County to William Roscoe Blankenship and Myrtle Alvis Blankenship. She worked as a waitress and was a member of Patillo Street Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, James "Bill" Huffstutler of Harvest and Don Huffstutler of Hartselle; one daughter, Martha Huffstutler of Hartselle; one brother, Curtis Blankenship of Falkville; two sisters, Barbara Wright and Ruby Powell, both of Falkville; and two grandchildren.

Laura Yarbrough King

ATHENS -- Funeral for Laura Yarbrough King, 71, of Athens will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Clifford Mayes officiating.

Burial will be in Poplar Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. King died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born April 14, 1930, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Edward King; six sons, Johnny Yarbrough, Charlie Yarbrough, Jessie Yarbrough, Walter Yarbrough and Darrick Yarbrough, all of Athens, and James Yarbrough of Prospect, Tenn.; one daughter, Geneva Yarbrough Malone of Athens; one sister, Elnora Bailey of Elkmont; 36 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.

Robert L. Pettey

Funeral for Robert L. Pettey, 92, of Trinity will be today at 3 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Mike Nix officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends this afternoon at the church from 1:30 until the service.

Mr. Pettey died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at National Health Care in Moulton. He was born Dec. 6, 1908, in Lawrence County, to Robert C. Pettey and Myrtle Hallbrooks Pettey. He was retired as a bull block operator from Wolverine Tube after 19 years and was a member of Beltline Church of Christ. Mr. Pettey was the widower of Daisy Pettey and the father of the late Robert L. Pettey Jr.

Survivors include one son, Billy D. "Bill" Pettey of Trinity; one sister, Lucy Garner of Hartselle; five grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Pettey, David Pettey, Mickey Wiggins, Mike Wiggins, Tim Tanksley and Greg Tanksley.

John Washington 'J.W.' Rogers

Funeral for John Washington, "J.W." Rogers, 79, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Rollins and the Rev. Sandra Locke Godbey officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Rogers died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at his home. He was born June 14, 1922, in Decatur to Henry D. Rogers and Ora B. Roberts Rogers. He was retired from Fruehauf Corp. and was a member of Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Rogers was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Ora Rogers; one son, John G. Rogers of Decatur; one brother, Lewie Rogers of Danville; two sisters, Eloise Livingston of Battle Creek, Mich. and Danny McCarley of Muscle Shoals; and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Clyde C. 'Bud' Bingham
A private funeral will be held for Clyde C. "Bud" Bingham, 51, of Decatur with Shelton Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Bingham died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 17, 1950, in Milan, Mich., to Glenn Bingham and Eva Kibbey Bingham.

Survivors include one son, Scott Bingham of Hartland, Mich.; one daughter, Glenda Kalvaitis of Meridian, Miss; one brother, Jerry Bingham of Howell, Mich.; one sister, Barb Turner of Brighton, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

Ted Freeman

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ted Freeman, 89, of Birmingham was to be today at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Milan Dekich officiating.

Burial, with military graveside service, was to be in Falkville City Cemetery.

Mr. Freeman died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home in Alabaster. He was born April 18, 1912, in Morgan County to Luther P. Freeman and Zula Wilhite Freeman. He retired from the United States Navy after 20 years as a chief petty officer. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He worked and retired from Redstone Arsenal after 12 years. He was a member of Falkville Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Mack Freeman and Mark Freeman, both of Birmingham; one daughter, Jackie Nuby of Birmingham; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Pearl Taylor Hobbs

Funeral for Pearl Taylor Hobbs, 94, of Tanner will be Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Gooch officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hobbs died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 2, 1907, in Madison to Charlie Newton Taylor and Nora Augusta Turner Taylor.

She was a resident of Tanner for many years and a graduate of the University of North Alabama. She taught school in Limestone County for 47 years, with 32 of the years spent at Ardmore. She was a member of Tanner United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two nieces, Keba Taylor Parker of Hixson, Tenn., and Vickey Taylor Swann of Decatur; three great-nephews; one great-niece and one great-great-nephew.

Pallbearers will be James Swann, Brian Parker, Gerald Gamble, Paul Parker, Chad Parker and Brady Parker.

Rev. James O. Long

HARTSELLE -- The Rev. James O. Long, 79, of Hartselle died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Baptist Montclair Center in Birmingham.

The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 until 9 at Peck Funeral Home. The funeral home will announce further arrangements.

Charles Bruce 'Chuck' Michelini

Funeral for Charles Bruce "Chuck" Michelini, 51, of Birmingham will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby J. King officiating.

A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph Culotta officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Michelini died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at his home. He was born Jan. 31, 1950, in Giessen, Germany, to Henry P. Michelini and Elizabeth Stewart Michelini. He was a freelance journalist and writer for medical science articles. He was national media manager in the media relations office at The University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Pender Michelini; one son, Dylan Michelini of West Palm Beach, Fla.; his mother of Decatur; one brother, H. Stewart Michelini of Decatur; one sister, Valerie Thomas of Birmingham; two grandchildren; five stepchildren; and 14 step-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Ann Ransom

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Elizabeth Ann Ransom, 58, of Athens will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Memorial Gardens with Larry Atchley officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ransom died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born April 19, 1943, in Limestone County to Fred Hill and Edith Hill.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Frankie Ransom of Athens; five daughters, Patricia Sawyers, Margaret McCune, Mary Powers, Pamela Elmore and Jennifer Ransom, all of Athens; one brother, Ollie Hill of McKenzie, Tenn.; three sisters, Bertha Mae Bridgeman of Unionville, Mo., Betty Cowart of Hazel Green and Birdie Hill of Chicago; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Sawyers, Rusty Sawyers, Jerry Sawyers Jr., Joshua Cowan, Tim Adams and Randall Brown.

David Allen Stricklin

MOULTON -- Funeral for David Allen Stricklin, 40, of Hillsboro was to be today at 4 p.m. at Mt. View Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Cassidy and the Rev. Robbie Crane officiating.

Burial was to be in Smyrna Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Stricklin died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Dec. 17, 1960, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Nathaniel Stricklin and Sara Stricklin Hamilton. He was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. He was the grandson of the late Willard Stricklin.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Stricklin; four sons, Adrian Nicholas Thompson of Lexington, Christopher Lynn Stricklin of Decatur, and Bradley Allen Stricklin and Casey Linn Stricklin, both of Hillsboro; his father of Kalamazoo; his mother of Hillsboro; his stepfather, Wayne Hamilton of Hillsboro; his stepmother, Joan Stricklin of Kalamazoo; two sisters, Reba Waits and Teresa Brooks, both of Hillsboro; three brothers, Ricky Stricklin of Moulton, Jimmy Stricklin of Hillsboro and Scottie Stricklin of Michigan; one stepbrother, Tommy Hamilton of Town Creek; two stepsisters, Karen McCarthy of Trinity and Susan Pugh of Birmingham; his grandparents, David and Lucille Corum of Courtland and Lomeda Stricklin of Hillsboro.

Pallbearers were to be John Hitt, Chris Brackens, Mickey Carwile, Billy Reeves, Charles Reeves and Mark Hamilton.

Erby Thompson

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Erby Thompson, 94, of Hartselle was to be today at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Elder and the Rev. Barry C. Dunn officiating.

Burial was to be in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The body was to be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mr. Thompson died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 7, 1906, in Morgan County to James Franklin Thompson and Abi Jones Thompson. He was a longtime barber in Hartselle. He was a member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Sparkman Thompson; two sons, the Rev. Harold E. Thompson of Hartselle and Larry Julius Thompson of Nashville; one brother, J.W. Thompson of Decatur; two sisters, Irene Johnson of Hartselle and Myrtle "Tootsie" Garrison of Decatur; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Clinton Nicholson, Larry Thompson Jr., Timothy Thompson, Kyle Kirby, Tommy Hardin, John Vest and Medford Long.

Evelyn Young Volin

HARTSELLE -- Evelyn Young Volin, 87, of Decatur died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Summerford Nursing Home.

Peck Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Volin was born Dec. 2, 1913, in Lockney, Texas to Roy Grady Baldwin and Margaret Meller Baldwin Young. She was the adopted daughter of Charles Young.

Mrs. Volin graduated from the University of Denver in 1934 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. She attended graduate school at Northwestern University. She was the widow of Melden Earl Volin.

She and her husband spent one year in New Zealand on a Fulbright Scholarship. She was a 60-year member of P.E.O. She was past president and charter member of Chapter CI of P.E.O. in Green Valley, Arizona.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy E. Volin of Decatur and Theodore P. Volin of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Doris Cowen of Green Valley, Ariz., and Elizabeth Blackwell of Milwaukie, Ore.; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Project Hope, International Headquarters, Health Science Education Center, Carter Hall, Millwood, VA 22646.
