Henry Hollis Eddy

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Henry Hollis Eddy, 74, of Cullman will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Willis officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery in Nesmith. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Eddy died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Cullman Long Term Care. He was born April 14, 1927, in Cullman County to Louis Eddy and Novel Kilgro Eddy. He was a retired freight truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Ozell Walden Eddy; one son, Terry Eddy of Trinity; one step-son, Norman Bartlett of Addison; three step-daughters, Janice Stephens of West Point, Barbara Wright of Cullman and Kathy Walden of Vero Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Felton Eddy of Logan and W.A. "Billy" Eddy of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Ila Mae Marks of Bremen, Fay Key of Logan and Myrtle Tolbert of West Point; and 14 grandchildren.

Robert J. 'Bobby' Eskridge

TRINITY -- Funeral for Robert J. "Bobby" Eskridge, 63, of Hillsboro was Sunday at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Marcus Lipscomb, the Rev. Mitch Smith and the Rev. Bill Pullen officiating.

Burial was in Old Liberty Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Eskridge died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1938, in Louisville, Ky., to Henry and Lou Eskridge. He retired after 35 years as a maintenance worker at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He was the widower of Joann Eskridge and the father of the late Jennifer Kaye Eskridge. He was the brother of the late Hershel "Buddy" Eskridge, Wendell Eskridge, Ronnie Eskridge and Raymond Eskridge.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Eskridge; four sons, Joey Eskridge of Trinity, Billy Joe Proctor and Josh Cottingham, both of Hillsboro, and James Cottingham of Moulton; five daughters, Melinda Hamby and Donna Pierce, both of Courtland, Marketta Archer of Speake, Chasitee Eskridge of Hillsboro and Vanessa Reeves of Moulton; one brother, Junior Eskridge of Indiana; two sisters, Lola Dean Hudson and Louise Morris, both of Louisville; and 14 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tony Terry, Tony Hill, Gary Stevenson, John Pierce, Eric Dotson, Shannon Breeding, Charles Archer and Carlton Dotson.

Goodyear employees of Department 4/3 were honorary pallbearers.

Hanna Huebshman

Memorial service for Hanna Huebshman, 96, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. John Clotfelter officiating.

Mrs. Huebshman died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 17, 1905, in Germany to Ernst Winkler and Margarete Wachwitz Winkler.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Olson of Decatur; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Rev. James O. Long

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Rev. James O. Long, 79, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Burns, the Rev. Joe Nuss and the Rev. Mike Eaton officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Rev. Long died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center Montclair. He was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Morgan County to James Franklin Long and Hannah Minnie Woodard Long. He was a United States Army World War II veteran who served in the South Pacific. He graduated from Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, with a bachelor of divinity degree. He was associate pastor of Gadsden Baptist Temple and pastor of Mobile Baptist Temple. He served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Hartselle for 40 years. He was the brother of the late Oscar Long, Lionel Long, Collier Long, Bernice Driver, Ethel Miller, Ruth Knight and Tommie Knight.

Survivors include his wife, Cleo Holmes Long; one son, Jonathan Long of Hartselle; one sister, Willie Smith of Pasadena, Texas; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Long, Odean Long, Charles Long, Jerry Nuss, Larry Harris and Dennis Stephenson.

Billie L. Maples

Funeral for Billie L. Maples, 88, of Birmingham will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Roebuck Chapel in Birmin- gham with burial in Forrest Crest Cemetery in Gadsden.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 till 8 at Roebuck Chapel.

Ms. Maples died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001. She was a retired nurse from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. She was one of the first Alabama females to retire from active service from Fort McCellan. She also served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include two brothers, Joseph Maples of Hueytown and James Maples of Gardendale; and two sisters, Rebecca Smith of Birmingham and Roberta Tew of Bradenton, Fla. She had family in Decatur.

Bertha Mae Rieger

ATHENS -- Funeral for Bertha Mae Rieger, 59, of Elkmont will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with James P. Adams officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rieger died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born July 30, 1942, in Limestone County to Irby and Nora Posey. She was an employee of Easter's Café and a member of West Highland Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin Rieger; two sons, Tim Hubbard and Dewayne Rieger, both of Elkmont; one daughter, Gloria Hubbard of Tampa, Fla.; and two sisters, Frances Terry of Elkmont and Mary Elizabeth Perryman of Kansas City, Kan.

Pallbearers will be Tim Hubbard, Mike Graul, Gary VanHoozer, Johnny Newton, Payton Baugher and Dwight Davis.

Myrtle Proctor Rodgers

MOULTON -- Funeral for Myrtle Proctor Rodgers, 86, of Courtland will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Delashaw and the Rev. James Thorn officiating.

Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rodgers died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at her home. She was born March 26, 1915, in Lawrence County. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was the widow of Marion Rodgers and the mother of the late Eugene Proctor and Kirk Proctor.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley Loosier of Courtland and Vernon Proctor of Kansas; three daughters, Mary Burden and Jolene Brooks, both of Moulton, and Wanda Rodreguez of Texas; two brothers, Daniel Henderson and C.O. Henderson, both of Moulton; one sister, Louise "Zell" Cartee, of Moulton; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

James Lyle Stephenson

MOULTON -- Funeral for James Lyle Stephenson, 83, of Moulton was Monday at Elliott Funeral Home with Robert Stack officiating.

Burial was in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mr. Stephenson died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Lawrence County. He was a member of the 101st Airborne's Glider Division during WWII and was awarded a Bronze Star. He attended Aldridge Grove Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bertie Lee Stephenson; one son, Ned Stephenson of Hartselle; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Curtis Cole, Don Alexander, John Leggett, Farrell Saint, Paul Montgomery and Charles Terry.

Ralph Hastel Williams

Funeral for Ralph Hastel Williams, 67, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Hartselle with the Rev. Billy Ray Young officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Williams died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, in Huntsville Hospital. He was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Morgan County to Hilderth and Jodie Williams. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Luckett of Somerville and Jesse Williams of Decatur; one daughter, Deborah Williams of Decatur; one sister, Oma Pearl Benson of Huntsville; two brothers, Travis Williams of Decatur and Harry Williams of Los Angeles; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Calvin Sharpley, Larry Young, George Hearring, Charles Ratliff, Jerry Warren and Tyrone Davis.

Esterleen C. Brackeen
ATHENS -- Graveside service for Esterleen C. Brackeen, 75, of Athens was to be today at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Everett Conn officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family was to receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brackeen died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1926, in Limestone County to E.M. and Sallie Chandler. She was retired from the billing and insurance department of Athens-Limestone Medical Associates. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Harris of Athens and Peggy Scott of Fayetteville, Tenn.; two brothers, Everett Chandler of Cullman and E.M. Chandler Jr. of Decatur; three sisters, Elaine Conn of Madison, and Doreen Dunnivant and Sue Bowers, both of Decatur; and one grandson,

Nephews were to be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Maurice Edward Burlingame

ATHENS -- Funeral for Maurice Edward Burlingame, 80, of Athens, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Burlingame died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Limestone Health Facility.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 112 S. Jefferson St. Athens, AL 35611 or Senior Health Center, 203 Sanders St. Athens, AL 35611.

The funeral home will announce complete arrangements.

Marjorie May Erickson

MOULTON -- Funeral for Marjorie May Erickson, 83, of Moulton will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Jackie Shelton and the Rev. Jerry Strickland officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Erickson died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at her home. She was born Oct. 30, 1917, in Gillespie, Ill., to Herman Osterkamp and Pearl Young Osterkamp. She was a homemaker and the widow of Arthur Erickson.

Survivors include three daughters, Judith Ann Passenheim of Mount Prospect, Ill., and Nancy Lou Steele and Joan Marjorie Borden, both of Moulton; one brother, Gerald Osterkamp of Punta Gorde, Fla.; one sister, Edith Dashley of El Paso, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth David Fretwell

MOULTON -- Funeral for Kenneth David Fretwell, 55, of the Wolf Springs community in Lawrence County will be Thursday, at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Sims officiating.

Burial will be in Roden Cemetery in Wolf Springs. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Fretwell died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Helen Keller Hospital. He was born July 11, 1946, in Colbert County, to Hoyt Fretwell and Rachel Fretwell. He was a boilermaker.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Berryman Fretwell; one son, Brandon Fretwell of Hatton; two daughters, Becky Fretwell of Arcadia, Calif.; and Deetra Fretwell Naylor of Wolf Springs; his mother, of Leighton; two brothers, Larry Fretwell of Phil Campbell and Alan Fretwell of Baton Rouge, La.; and five grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.
