Frank Vanhook Pigott

Funeral for Frank Vanhook Pigott, 45, of Birmingham, formerly of Decatur, was to be today at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with the Rev. Reggie C. Brock officiating.

Burial was to be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.

Mr. Pigott died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001. He was born Jan. 22, 1956, to William T. Pigott and Emily J. Pigott of Decatur. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1974 and attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He then earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at Auburn University.

He was owner-operator of Studio-6 Recording in Birmingham. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Decatur and the Father's House Church in Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Pigott; three daughters, Jennifer Pigott, Virginia Pigott and Jessica Hosmer, all of Birmingham; his father of Decatur; one brother, Geoffry C. Pigott of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister, Jennifer Pigott Warth of Suzhou, China; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The Father's House Church, 5704 Carrington Way, Trussville, AL 35173.

Vernon A. 'Bill' Thomas

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Vernon A. "Bill" Thomas, 77, of Hartselle was to be today at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Blackmon and the Rev. Norman Whittoon officiating.

Burial was to be in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born May 29, 1924, in Morgan County to James Worth Thomas and Bernice Pauline Prince Thomas. He was a United States Army World War II veteran. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Martha H. Thomas; and one brother, Allen Thomas of Cataco.

Pallbearers were to be Johnny Chandler, Hamil Lawrence, Don Pouncey, Scotty Stinson, Larry Thomas and Randy Thomas.

Maurice Edward Burlingame
ATHENS -- Funeral for Maurice Edward Burlingame, 80, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. William Robert Sharman III officiating.

Burial was to be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Burlingame died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Limestone Health Facility. He was born Feb. 13, 1921, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Edward Drew Burlingame and Goldie Miller Burlingame. He moved to Athens in 1962, where he opened the Western Auto Store. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Athens and a lifetime member of the Athens Civitan Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Riley Burlingame; one son, Larry Edward Burlingame of Athens; one daughter, Linda Burlingame Creekmore of Decatur, Ga.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be James Chittam, Bobby Colvett, Jerry McGlocklin, Royce Waddell, Mike Brand and Kevin Rowland.

Honorary pallbearers were to be members of Harry Richter's men's Sunday school class.

Maria H. Godsey

HUNTSVILLE -- Memorial service for Maria H. Godsey, 72, of Hartselle will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Sexton officiating.

Mrs. Godsey died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Aug. 8, 1929. She was a Catholic and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Fred B. Godsey; two daughters, Diane Godsey Brightwell and Sandra Godsey Pape, both of Decatur; one sister, Caroline Fong of Oakland, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Children's Hospital, 1600 Seventh Ave. S., Birmingham, AL 35233.

Dr. Lyle Leroy Hardy

Funeral for Dr. Lyle Leroy Hardy, 69, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Dr. Hardy died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 24, 1932, in Kansas to Clarence Lyman Hardy and Marcelia Woodworth Hardy. He was a chiropractor in Decatur for more than 25 years and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Laron L. Hardy of Decatur and Corey Hardy of Athens; one daughter, Delinda Hardy of Madison; one brother, Dr. Norval Hardy of Easley, S.C.; and three sisters, Beverly Nelson of Easley, S.C., Donna Gosnell of Piedmont, S.C., and Vereta Young of Holyoak, Colo.

Frances Holt Harney

ATHENS -- Funeral for Frances Holt Harney, 54, of Pulaski, Tenn., will be Saturday at noon at Farmer's Indian Creek Baptist Church in Elkton, Tenn., with the Rev. Roosevelt Toney officiating.

Burial will be in Elkton Cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Mrs. Harney died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski. She was born Dec. 18, 1946, in Giles County, Tenn., to Howard Holt and Sadie Sue Bailey Holt. She was an assembly line worker.

Survivors include two sons, Peyton Holt and Patrick Holt, both of Pulaski; one daughter, Angela Stinnett of Huntsville; her mother of Pulaski; one brother, Ronald Holt of Pulaski; three sisters, Betty Howell, Edna King and Matrice Brown, all of Pulaski; and two grandchildren.

Betty B. McGranahan

Funeral for Betty B. McGranahan, 74, of Decatur will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Culotta officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. McGranahan died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at her home. She was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Camden, S.C., to Jess Barnett and Dora Knapp Barnett. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, an avid bowler, member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and a retired Decatur General Hospital registered nurse. She was the widow of Clement Duncan and Edgar McGranahan.

Survivors include five sons, Raymond Duncan of Smyrna, Ga., John Duncan, David Duncan and Jim Duncan, all of Decatur and Roger McGranahan of West Chester, Ohio; two daughters, Nancy Duncan and Jessica Mangum, both of Decatur; one stepson, Jim Pannier of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Kathy Vassar of Decatur; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of the Valley. Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

Dean Phelps

PULASKI, Tenn. -- Funeral for Dean Phelps, 68, of Smyrna, Tenn., will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Phelps died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Mur- freesboro. He was born March 2, 1933, in Giles County, Tenn., to James Weakley Phelps and Henrietta Dickey Phelps. He retired as a machine operator from IKG Industry in Nashville.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Phelps; one son, Gary Dean Phelps of Smyrna; three brothers, Mark Phelps of Pulaski, Carl Phelps of White House, Tenn., and Neal Phelps of Trinity; four sisters, Virginia McClure of Scottsboro, Elizabeth Crabtree and Linda Bass, both of Columbia, Tenn., and Christine Burks of Lebanon, Tenn.

Louetta Campbell Reyer

MARTINEZ, Ga. -- Graveside service for Louetta Campbell Reyer, 93, of Grovetown, Ga., and formerly of Athens, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Larry Harmon officiating and Elliott Sons Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Reyer died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Westwood Extended Care Facility. She was born April 2, 1908, in Texas to Hugh and Lizzie Campbell. She lived in Augusta, Ga., for the past 30 years after moving from Athens. She was a homemaker and member of Lumpkin Road Baptist Church. She was the widow of Oakley Reyer.

Survivors include one daughter, Gertrude Brosious of Grovetown; one sister, Mildred Hobbs of Decatur; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Augusta, 1899 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.

Harry Street

ATHENS -- Funeral for Harry Street, 87, of Athens will be Friday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Steve Pettey officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours before the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Street died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at his home. He was born May 8, 1914, in Fairfield to Benjamin Street and Rose Emma Vandiver Street. He was retired from the U.S. Army and NASA. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Sherwood Baptist Church in Huntsville.

Survivors include his wife, Edwena Street; one son, Fred Harper Jr. of Athens; one daughter, Linda Scheppe of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Nance, Thurman Brockwell, Buford Adams, Tom Gant, Mason Booth, David Cramer, Billy Meacham and Hollis Bridges.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or the American Parkinson's Association.

Johnnie B. Wilson

MOULTON -- Graveside service for Johnnie B. Wilson, 64, of Fayette will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Rutherford Cemetery with John Fike officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Wilson died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in McKinzie, Tenn. He was born July 21, 1937, in Fayette to J. Ed Wilson and Vergie Alice Wilson. He was a former truck driver.

Survivors include two brothers, Roger Wilson and Lionel Wilson, both of Jasper; and one sister, Betty Burroughs of Tuscaloosa.

Bobby Borden
TRINITY -- Funeral for Bobby Borden, 45, of Moulton will be today at 1 p.m. at Pine Grove Holy Church of Christ.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Borden died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at his residence. He was born April 26, 1956, in Lawrence County to Melvin W. Borden and Opal Borden. He was a member of Pine Grove Holy Church. He worked as a machinist at Pettey Machine Shop. He was the brother of the late Patsy Borden Hammon.

Survivors include two sons, Brad Borden and Nicky Borden, both of Moulton.

Pallbearers will be Carlos Borden, Stacie Brown, Vinson Cole, Millard "Buddy" Parker, Matt Shelton and Larry Cooper.

Gerald Lee Bush

Memorial service for Gerald Lee Bush, 68, of Decatur will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Mr. Bush died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Crystal Springs, Miss., to Ed and Ruby Bush. He was a graduate of Crystal Springs High School and attended the University of Mississippi and Memphis State University, where he was captain of the football team. He was retired from Sears.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Bush; three daughters, Geri Elliott of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Jill Weaver and Jennifer Long, both of Decatur; his parents of Crystal Springs; one sister, Gail Hegwood of Loranger, La; one brother, Roger Bush of Crystal Springs; and three granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
