Willodean L. Brewer

CHATTANOOGA -- Funeral for Willodean L. Brewer, 74, of Chattanooga was to be today at 2 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. John Hosler officiating.

Burial was to follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family was to receive friends today from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Brewer died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in a Chattanooga hospital.

She was a native of Alabama but had lived in the Chattanooga area since 1950. She was a member of Hamilton Baptist Church, the former East Chattanooga Baptist Tabernacle.

She was retired from Chattanooga General Services after 26 years of service.

Survivors include one son, Charles Brewer of Cleveland, Tenn.; two daughters, Sandra Woods of Trinity and Donna Weir of Harrison, Tenn.; one brother, Joseph Lyles of Hixson, Tenn.; five sisters, Willie Roe Hill of Columbus, Ga., Joanna Johnson of Cedar Bluff, and Yvonne Hill, Wanda Stone and Carolyn Lingerfelt, all of Chattanooga; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Fritz Warren Darling

FLORENCE -- Funeral for Fritz Warren Darling, 77, of Florence, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Elkins Funeral Home with Cory Collins officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Mr. Darling died today, Oct. 9, 2001, at his home.

Dillard King Davis

Dillard King Davis, 86, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at her home.

Reynolds Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.

Margaret Eastep

ATHENS -- Funeral for Margaret Eastep, 77, of Athens was Monday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home. Burial was in Athens City Cemetery.

Mrs. Eastep died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Limestone Lodge in Athens.

She was born March 18, 1924, in Giles County, Tenn. She was a Church of Christ member and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Doyle Eugene Eastep; two sons, Jesse Lee Eastep of Beaumont, Texas, and Stanley Wayne Eastep of Athens; one daughter, Patsy Lynn Abbott of Vicksburg, Miss.; two sisters, Marjorie Lambert and Ann Carpenter, both of Athens; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ken Gilbert

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ken Gilbert, 47, of Athens, will be Friday at noon at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Vandiver Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery with People's Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Gilbert died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born July 14, 1954, in Athens to Herbert Turner Sr. and Earline Moore. He was the sister of the late Gracie Beavers.

Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly De-Shawn Gilbert of Athens; his mother of Athens; 14 brothers, Timmy Lane of Houston, Texas, Tony Turner of Nashville, Gregory Turner of Elizabethtown, Ky., Billy Moore and James Edward Moore, both of Rockford, Ill., and Larry Gilbert, Charles Ray Moore, Mitchell Gilbert, Herbert Turner, Lewis Turner, Wyman Turner, Irvin Turner, Walter Turner, and Freddie Turner, all of Athens; three sisters, Mary Garner of Decatur, Brenda Strain of Athens and Gloria Wilson of Asheville, N.C.; and two grandsons.

Daniel Sean O'Connor

Graveside service for infant Daniel Sean O'Connor, of Decatur, will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph Culotta officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The infant died on Oct. 8, 2001, the day of his birth, at Decatur General Hospital.

Survivors include his father, Corey Stephen of Decatur; his mother, Desiree Peterson O'Connor of Decatur; two brothers, Will Peterson and Carson O'Connor, both of Decatur; his grandparents, James and Diane O'Connor of Montclair, Calif., and Doyle and Jody Peterson of Decatur; and his great-grandfather, Ed Hartman of Palm Beach, Calif.

Memorials may be made the Childrens Library at Wheeler Basin or Hospice of the Valley.

Mary Alice King Suggs

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Mary Alice King Suggs, 63, of Hartselle will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Hal Daigre officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Suggs died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at her home. She was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Morgan County to Ollie Wilson King and Violet Primm King. She was a homemaker

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Ray Suggs; three sons, Johnny Ray Suggs of Cullman, Thomas Wilson Suggs of Argo and Michael Dale Suggs of Falkville; one brother, Ronnie King of Decatur; one stepbrother, Robert Engle of Somerville; four stepsisters, Gaynell Kent and Margarite Knighten, both of Decatur, Minnie Nelms of Lakeland, Fla., and Mary Jane Gerstman of Hartselle; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Andy Vest, Dana Terry, Winford Kent, Bill Hall, Steve Patterson and Wayne Morgan.

Elease Tanksley

MOULTON -- Funeral for Elease Tanksley, 69, of Moulton will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Amos Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Youngtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tanksley died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation in Decatur. She was born July 28, 1932, in Lawrence County, to James Albert Borden and Ora Borden. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

She was the widow of Earl Tanksley and the sister of the late Hershall Borden and Jerry Borden.

Survivors include one son, Mike Tanksley of Moulton; two brothers, James Junior Borden of Chicago and Nathaniel Borden of Moulton; seven sisters, Evelyn Pierce of Indian- apolis, Mildred Frost of Cin- cinnati, Sybil Etheridge of Toney, Cathy Hatcher of Chicago, and Mavis Naylor, Opal Horton and Ann Murphy, all of Moulton; and one grandchild.

Valerie Ann Morrice Abercrombie
Funeral for Valerie Ann Morrice Abercrombie, 56, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Mike Nix officiating.

Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Abercrombie died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in Birmingham. She was born Nov. 2, 1944, in England to Ernest Morrice and Olive Annie Nash Morrice.

She worked for several years at Point Mallard Coffee Shop and Ice Rink.

Survivors include her husband, Larry R. Abercrombie; two daughters, Laurie Abercrombie Sims and Lisa Marie Abercrombie McElrath, both of Decatur; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be David Abercrombie, Jere Spurlin, Gary Moody, George Cassimus, Gearie Lawrence Sr. and David Hooper.

Tifford Blackwood

MOULTON -- Funeral for Tifford Blackwood, 72, of Moulton was to be today at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Nelson and the Rev. Dustin Warren officiating.

Burial was to be in Ferguson Cemetery in Hatton.

Mr. Blackwood died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at his home. He was born July 20, 1929, in Lawrence County, to Will Blackwood and Mary Ellen Drane Blackwood. He was retired from Decatur Iron and Steel as an assembly line worker, and was the husband of the late Lillian Blackwood.

Survivors include his son, Larry Blackwood of Huntsville; one daughter, Connie Blackwood of Moulton; and one granddaughter.

Charles Edward Blanton

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Charles Edward Blanton, 47, of Cullman will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Baldwin Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Cullman Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before services.

Mr. Blanton died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 18, 1954, in Birmingham to Dr. Harold L. Blanton and Eloise Mosley Blanton.

Survivors include two sons, Zachary Charles Blanton and Caleb Hardy Blanton, both of Hartselle; his father and his stepmother, Bonnie Harp Blanton, both of Cullman, and his mother of Hanceville; two brothers, Gordon Blanton and Jeff Blanton, both of Cullman; and three sisters, Marsha Bean of Alpharetta, Ga., Valerie Tollison of Nashville and Bethany Simmons of Cullman.

William Kenneth "Ken" Foxx

Funeral for William Kenneth "Ken" Foxx, 65, of Decatur will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mitchell Williams officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery in Gainesville, Fla. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. His body will be at the church from 1 until 2 on Saturday.

Mr. Foxx died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001. He was born May 25, 1936, in Pennsylvania to James Emory Foxx and Helen Heite Foxx. He grew up in Ocean City, N.J. He went to Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, Wesley Junior College in Delaware and graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Foxx retired from the United States Treasury Department and spent many years as the Decatur area district commissioner for the Boy Scouts. He was also a Scout leader and Scoutmaster of Troop 16. He also served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed discussing the baseball career of his father, who is a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame and was featured in 2000 along with 19 other baseball greats on the U.S. Postal Service's Legends of Baseball series.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Foxx of Decatur; two sons, Andrew Foxx of Decatur and William Foxx of Tuscaloosa; one daughter, Elizabeth Mabie of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America and HUGS Ministry at Central United Methodist Church.

George Washington Kay

Graveside service for George Washington Kay, 84, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens with the Rev. Don Crumpton officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 till 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Kay died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1977 and was a member of Anchor Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Kay; two sons, David Kay of Dallas and Pat Kay of Ardmore; two daughters, Nancy Michon of Nashville and Barbara Stover of Decatur; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Idalee M. Lyle

FALKVILLE -- Funeral for Idalee M. Lyle, 93, of Falkville will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Debbie Wade officiating.

Burial will be in Center Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight at 6 till 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Ms. Lyle died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Falkville Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 17, 1907, in Clay County to John Simeon Martin and Lela O. Strong Martin. She was a former teacher, having taught at Six Mile School, Gravel Ridge School and Cotaco Junior High. She was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1985, and a former member of Antioch Methodist Church for 31 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Jackie Glover of Decatur; one sister, Frances Harwell of Decatur; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Miles Martin, John Martin, Truman Glascock, Greg Glascock, Earl Holt and Tim Sharp.

Dalton Overton Pettus

ATHENS -- Funeral for Dalton Overton Pettus, 59, of Athens, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Pettus died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
