Dorothy Pat Scott Stone

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Dorothy Pat Scott Stone, 96, of Hartselle will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. Ron Wilson and the Rev. W.K. Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mrs. Stone died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 7, 1905, in Forney, Texas, to the Rev. Pat Cleburne Scott and Rose Lattner Scott. She attended the University of Texas, Maryville College in Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She helped found the Hartselle Cemetery Committee, was past president on the Hartselle Garden Club and a member of First Baptist Church of Hartselle, where she headed a drive to start the church library. She was a charter member of the Culture Club. She traveled extensively and sponsored a foreign student from Switzerland.

Mrs. Stone was in the antique business most of her life. She and her husband moved to Hartselle in 1928 to start Stone Brothers Lumber Company, which later became Stone Lumber & Supply Company. She was the widow of James E. "Jack" Stone Jr. and mother of the late James Embry Stone, III.

Survivors include one son, Patrick Scott Stone of Hartselle, three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Tonice Alvin Waddell

ATHENS -- Funeral for Tonice Alvin Waddell, 81, of Rogersville, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove Church of Christ with Trevor Parker and Lendale Long officiating.

Burial will be in Higgins Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Waddell died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at his home. He was born Nov. 2, 1919, in Lauderdale County to Sid and Georgia Waddell. He was retired from the Lauderdale County Road Department. A World War II Army veteran, he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Cedar Grove Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Ocie Waddell of Rogersville; one son, Clymoth Waddell of Florence; three daughters, Linda Faye Slaton of Athens, Joyce McLemore of Rogersville and Carolyn Rogers of Florence; three brothers, D.C. Waddell of Rogersville, Clifton Waddell of Decatur and Talmage Waddell of Athens; four sisters, Milonea Mitchell of Toney, Opal Johnson, Christine George and Inita Hamby, all of Athens; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Casey Rogers, Kenny Smith, Stanley Fleming, Adam Long, Bryce Romine, Justin Romine, Royce Waddell and James Earl Waddell.

Charles Edward Blanton
CULLMAN -- Funeral for Charles Edward Blanton, 47, of Cullman was to be today at 2 p.m. at Baldwin Heights Bap- tist Church with the Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating.

Burial was to be in Baldwin Heights Baptist Cemetery with Cullman Heritage Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Blanton died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 18, 1954, in Birmingham to Dr. Harold L. Blanton and Eloise Blanton.

Survivors include two sons, Zachary Charles Blanton and Caleb Hardy Blanton, both of Hartselle; his father of Cul- lman; his mother of Hance- ville; his stepmother, Bonnie Blanton of Cullman; two brothers, Gordon Blanton and Jeff Blanton, both of Cullman; three sisters, Marsha Bean of Alpharetta, Ga., Valarie Tollison of Nashville and Beth- any Simmons of Cullman.

Kenneth Rowland Boutwell Sr.

Funeral for Kenneth Rowland Boutwell Sr., 72, of Decatur will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Fu- neral Home with the Rev. Buddy Champion officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery with the funeral home directing. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Boutwell died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation in Decatur. He was born July 10, 1929, in Greenville to Vivian and Nancy Boutwell. He retired from Teledyne Brown Engineering and attended Decatur First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred B. Boutwell of Decatur; one son, Kenneth Rowland Boutwell Jr. of New Jersey; one daughter, Nancy Boutwell Forrester of Cookeville, Tenn.; one brother, Hugh Raymond Boutwell of North Carolina; one sister, Vivian Boutwell Jam- erson of Wewahitchka, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Fritz Warren Darling

Funeral for Fritz Warren Darling, 77, of Florence was Thursday at Elkins Funeral Home with Cory Collins officiating.

Burial was in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Darling died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at his home. He was born in Mississippi to Durward Darling and Bertha Darling. He attended Coffee High School and he was a graduate of Northwest Shoals Community College. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a masonry instructor at the Muscle Shoals area vocational school for 11 years and was a member of the Bricklayers Local No. 8 for 50 years. He was a member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ. He was the brother of the late Charles Darling, and the father of a late infant daughter.

Survivors include his wife, Elise Taylor Darling; two sons, Thomas W. Darling of Florence and Richard Darling of Decatur; one sister, Mary Long White of May, Idaho; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ Building Fund, 1207 Sherrod Ave., Florence, AL, 35630, or to Hospice of the Shoals, 115 Fairground Road, Florence, AL, 35630.

Dillard King Davis

HILLSBORO -- Funeral for Dillard King Davis, 86, of Hillsboro will be Monday at 12 p.m. at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Clay officiating.

Burial will be in Foster Davis Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. Ms. Davis will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until noon on Monday.

The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6 till 7 at the funeral home.

Ms. Davis died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at her home in Hillsboro. She was born Oct. 26, 1914, in Lauderdale County to Sherman King and Marvella Bailey King. She was a member of the Living Way Apostalic Church in Courtland.

Survivors include six sons, Rev. William Riley Davis Jr. of Decatur, Rev. Shelby Davis and Rev. Leo Davis, both of Buffalo, N.Y., Rev. Jesse Davis of Athens, Dewitt Davis of Niagara Falls, and James Davis of Hillsboro; five daughters, Marvella Cooper of Courtland, Inell Johnson and Burl Davis, both of Hillsboro, and Marvelene Davis and Barbara Taylor, both of Buffalo, N.Y.; four sisters, Bernice Robinson and Rebecca Hood, both of Town Creek, Delorise Wood of Cleveland, Ohio, and Stella Smiley of Buffalo, N.Y.; one brother, Robert James King of Cleveland, Ohio; and 58 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

James D. Lowman

ATHENS -- Funeral for James D. Lowman, 70, of Athens, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Terry and the Rev. Eddie Bond officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lowman died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at his home. He was born May 14, 1931, in Winston County to Dillard and Hazel Lowman.

He was a retired employee of Saginaw Steering Gear and a former employee of 3M in Decatur. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of Truth Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jenell Lowman; two sons, Roger Lowman of Huntsville and Jimmy Abernathy of Decatur; two daughters, Tammy Flannagan and Penny Springer, both of Athens; two brothers, Ray Lowman and Robert Lowman, both of Haleyville; three sisters, Robbie Key, Peggy Hood and Patsey Tidwell, all of Double Springs; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Butler, Houston Key, Tommy Ashford, Trileman Steele, Darrell Malone, Sonny Sul- livan, J.W. Moss and Mutt Glover.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Dalton Overton Pettus

ATHENS -- Funeral for Dalton Overton Pettus, 59, of Athens, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. John Norman officiating.

Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Pettus died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

He was born June 3, 1942, in Arkansas to Hollis and Annie Pettus. He was employed by Owens Corning Inc. in Athens.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Pettus; three sons, Rick Pettus, David Pettus and Tim Pettus, all of Auburndale, Fla.; one daughter, Dianna Mills of Pennsylvania; one brother, Aubry Pettus of Polk City, Fla.; one sister, Fay Hale of Athens; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Pettus, Dennis Pettus, Buddy Stokes, David Pillows, Ray- mond Sandlin, G.C. Royster and Morris Pullum.

Mary Ann Woodroof

ATHENS -- Funeral for Mary Ann Woodroof, 67, of Athens, was to be today at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barry H. Anderson and the Rev. Steven A. Screws officiating.

Burial was to be in Athens City Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home directing. The family was to receive friends today from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Beasley Center of First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Woodroof died Thurs- day, Oct. 11, 2001, at her home. She was born April 5, 1934, in Athens to Roy L. and Ethel Long Thomas.

A graduate of Athens High School and Vanderbilt University, she was a charter member of the Athena League and past president of the Athens Study Club.

A member of First United Methodist Church, she was a member of the choir and the Merry Notes and past secretary of United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Schram Wood- roof; three sons, Thomas Schram Woodroof Jr., Roy Sanders Woodroof and Charles Chadwick Woodroof, all of Athens; one brother, Dr. Charles Burton Thomas of Athens, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be James Frank Cunningham Jr., John Harlow Fikes, William Kenneth Fikes, John Holland Harlow Jr., David William Poole, Benjamin Frederick Martin Jr., Benjamin Frederick Martin III and Robert Henry Murphree.

John 'J.W.' Johnson

MOULTON -- Funeral for John "J.W." Johnson, 73, of Hillsboro will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Old Time Gospel Fellowship Church with the Rev. B.L. Hale officiating.

Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Johnson died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born July 23, 1928, in Morgan County to John Johnson and Maggie Baulcom Johnson. He was a retired farmer and former Lawrence County solid waste employee.

Survivors include his wife, Virgie Johnson; one son, Samuel "Buddy" Johnson of Hillsboro; two daughters, Barbara Stricklin and Audrey McGinnis, both of Hillsboro; three brothers, Thomas Johnson, Alford Johnson and Loyd Johnson, all of Hillsboro; one sister, Sarah Terry of Trinity; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Carlon Stricklin, Joey Stricklin, David Stricklin, Samuel Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Bo Melson and Craig Hagood.
