Helen Burns Brown

FLORENCE -- Funeral for Helen Burns Brown, 79, of Florence will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Elkins Funeral Home with Carl Seig- enthaler and Ricky Phillips officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 29, 1921, in Lauderdale County to Marvin Burns and Waymon England Burns. She was a graduate of Central High School and retired from Decatur General Hospital where she was a sterile technician. She attended Beltline Church of Christ. Before moving back to Florence she attended New Hope Church of Christ and Stony Point Church of Christ. She was the mother of the late Larry Brown, and sister of the late James Harold Burns, Hollis Burns and Gertrude Haddock.

Survivors include four sons, Gerald Brown of Snellville, Ga., Bill Brown of Florence, David Brown of Jonesboro, Ga., and Tommy Brown of Decatur; one daughter, Nancy Meek of Beaumont, Calif.; one sister, Billie Young of Florence; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Brown, Dennis Brown, Gerry Brown, Tony Searcy, Alex Brown, David Brown and Rick Wilke.

Edith Oneal Eubanks

Graveside service for Edith Oneal Eubanks, 67, of Decatur will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Mike King officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Eubanks died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born July 11, 1934, in Limestone County to William H. Eubanks and Alma Clem Eubanks. She was a member of the Grant Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Ricky Louis Vaughn of Decatur; two brothers, Ronald Eubanks of Somerville and Kenneth Eubanks of Decatur; and four sisters, Jeanette Russell of Hartselle and Shirley Hatfield, Betty Harpe and Ann Sparks, all of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Douglas Harris, Robert Bradford, Lelton Busbey, Cecil Endsley, Jim Warren and Jim McCulloch.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mattie Lee McDonald Gill

Funeral for Mattie Lee McDonald Gill, 93, of Decatur will be Saturday at noon at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Franklin officiating.

Burial will be in Blackwell Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Gill died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 20, 1908, in Morgan County to Frank McDonald and Ida Horton McDonald. She was a member of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, treasurer of the Missionary Society and member of the Mother's Board.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Mae Gilbert and Katherine Garth, both of Decatur; one son, Lafayette Gill of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Clara Hill

ATHENS -- Funeral for Clara Hill, 89, of Athens will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.C. Craft and the Rev. Dewey Craft officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hill died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Limestone Health Facility. She was born Sept. 30, 1912, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include one son, James Hill of Athens; one daughter, Virginia Pressnell of Athens; three sisters, Cassie Hill and Cindy Solomon, both of Athens, and Lin Solomon of Decatur; two brothers, Frank Harris and Charles Harris, both of Athens; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Eller D. Long

MOULTON -- Eller D. Long, 88, of Town Creek, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Russellville Hospital.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral home will announce complete arrangements.

John Warren Looney

Funeral for John Warren Looney, 63, of Decatur will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Austinville Church of God with the Rev. Harold Coomer officiating.

Burial will be in Basham Cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home and the body will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Mr. Looney died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at his home. He was born Feb. 3, 1938, in Battle Creek, Mich., to John Looney and Marian Smith Looney. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 in Decatur. He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 655 of Decatur, and also was a member of the American Hovercraft Club and Austinville Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Looney; one son, John Looney of Birmingham; one daughter, Jill Clemmons of Hartselle; two sisters, Marcia Millsap of Cedartown, Ga., and Carolyn Nousianen of Trout Creek, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alabama Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranches.

Joseph Motherway

PASADENA, Texas. -- Graveside service for Joseph Motherway, 70, of Pasadena, Texas, and formerly of Decatur, will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Rio Frio Cemetery in Rio Frio, Texas.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5 until 8 at Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena.

Mr. Motherway died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, in Pasadena. He was born Dec. 4, 1930, in Decatur to Joseph Clifford Motherway and Willene Prince Motherway. He moved to Texas in 1949 to work for Southwestern Bell. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retiree of AT&T.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Motherway; and one son Joseph Motherway Jr. of Pasadena.

Mary White

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Mary Athalene Wynn White, 61, of Okeechobee, Fla., will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Neighborhood Baptist Church in Cullman County with the Rev. Lewis Briscoe officiating.

Burial will be in Neighborhood Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Saturday two hours before the service at the church.

Mrs. White died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at Palm West Hospital in Palm Beach, Fla. She was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Cullman County to William "Bud" Wynn and Bernice Whittle Wynn. She was a homemaker and a member of Neighborhood Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Ray White of Cullman and Perry DeWayne White of Okeechobee; two daughters, Kathy Ann Loschiavo and Connie Lynn White, both of Okeechobee; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Edith Oden Aday
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Edith Oden Aday, 87, of Eva will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Hanvey officiating.

Burial will be in Oden Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Aday died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 12, 1914, in Morgan County to Charles Andrew Oden and Emma Entrekin Oden. She was a member of Oden Ridge Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and the widow of Everett W. Aday. She was the sister of the late Ira N. Oden, Huey Oden, Roy Oden, Bertha Flack and Ona Oden.

Survivors include one daughter, Brynda Aday Tylo of Eva.

Pallbearers will be Len Gibbs, Dwight McNutt, Harold Morgan, Ray Pace, Kenneth Puckett and Richard Whipple.

Edna Mae Martin Coffey

TRINITY -- Funeral for Edna Mae Martin Coffey, 79, of Trinity will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. James Hawkins officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Coffey died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Lawrence County to Johnny Martin and Rowena Frost Martin. She was an Eastern Star and member of Trinity Baptist Church. She formerly owned a snack bar at Moulton Stockyard.

Survivors include two brothers, J.W. Martin Jr., of Town Creek and L.F. "Buddy" Martin of Hartselle; and two sisters, Elsie Collier of Courtland and Polly Gay of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Blaxton, Tommy McCaig, Tony Cox, Willard Coffey, M.A. Coffey and Jeremy Lancaster.

Francis W. Harris

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Francis W. Harris, 81, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Garrison officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Torch Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harris died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Morgan County to Ed Pittman Luker and Sedena Bell Luker. She was a homemaker and the widow of J. G. Harris.

Survivors include three sons, John P. Harris of Hartselle and Johnnie G. Harris and John A. Harris, both of Falkville; two daughters, Martha E. Fore of Washington, Ill. and Geneva S. Fore of Falkville; three sisters, Lottie M. Smith of Addison, Christine Roberts of Atlanta, and Margaret Chenault of Huntsville; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Talton Johns, Joe Harris, Allen Harris, Dustin Harris, Matt Harris and Darrin Fore.

Ellar D. Long

MOULTON -- Funeral for Ellar D. Long, 88, of Town Creek will be today at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert Hodges officiating.

Burial will be in King Cemetery.

Mrs. Long died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Russellville Hospital. She was born June 21, 1913, in Lawrence County to Will F. Chaney and Mildred Dean Chaney. She attended First Assembly of God in Town Creek and was a homemaker and the widow of Marvin C. Long.

Survivors include three sons, William D. Long of Town Creek, Buddy Long of Muscle Shoals and Charles Long of Courtland; three daughters, Reba Huckaba of Town Creek, Annie Bell Taylor of Mount Hope and Evelyn Agee of Sheffield; 21 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

David C. Maddox Sr.

Funeral for David C. Maddox Sr., 92, of Decatur will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Corinth United Methodist Church in Cullman with the Joe Wayne Maddox officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 5 until 7 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mr. Maddox died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, in Nashville. He was born Oct. 3, 1909, in DeKalb County to Ernest Maddox and Lou Maddox. He was a member of Austinville Church of God. He was the former owner of New York Hatters and Dry Cleaners and owned the Nutrition Center in Decatur. He was the widower of Florine Maddox.

Survivors include one son, Charlie Maddox of Nashville; one daughter, Peggy Lewis of Ross, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one step-granddaughter.

Corine 'Corky' Mae Pyron

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Corine "Corky" Mae Pyron, 70, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Meyers Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas Horton officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at Spry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pyron died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born March 6, 1931, in Warren County, N.Y. She was a retired seamstress and member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witness.

Survivors include two sons, Gregory Pugh of Elkmont and Duane Pugh of Tanner; one sister, Pat Terrell of Warrensburg, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
