Nathan Reaves

MOULTON -- Funeral for Nathan Reaves, 24, of Moulton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Smith and the Rev. Mark Wake- field officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Me- m- ory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Reaves died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, in Moulton. He was born July 30, 1977, in Colbert County to Jimmy Lee Reaves and Kay Hallmark Appleton. He was a deputy with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church, Bankhead Beagle Club, Rut-N-Buc Hunting Club and a former Hatton volunteer firefighter.

Survivors include one son, Elijah Reaves of Moulton; his father and step-mother, Edith Reaves of Tuscaloosa; his mother and step-father, Ricky Appleton of Moulton; five brothers, Thomas Reaves, Todd Appleton and Scott Appleton, all of Moulton, Cliff Garner of Tuscaloosa and Gary White of Smyrna, Tenn.; two sisters, Lori White of Tuscaloosa and Missy Boner of Smyrna, Tenn.; his grandparents, James Mason of Cherokee, Celia Reaves of Muscle Shoals and Avon Hallmark of Town Creek; his great-grandmother, Hyacinth Landers of Town Creek; and a step-grandmother, Mary Luffman of Smyrna, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Scott Christy, Franklin Heaps, Seth Hagen, David Sizemore, Amard Martin and Chad Pete.

Area law enforcement officers will be honorary pallbearers.

James 'J.B.' Rice

MOULTON -- Funeral for James "J.B." Rice, 68, of Eva will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith LouAllen officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mr. Rice died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Nov. 20, 1932, in Franklin County to Guy Rice and Laura Mae Rice. He was an auto body repairman. He attended Sunrise Temple and was a Korean War veteran.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Rice of Hartselle; one brother, Junior Rice of Trinity; three sisters, Opal LouAllen of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sue Farmer of Decatur and Yvonne Taylor of Eva; three grandchildren; one great-grandson.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Margaret Berzett
Funeral for Margaret Berzett, 84, of Decatur, who owned and operated the Green briar Barbecue in Madison, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Green briar Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Coker officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Berzett started the restaurant in the community of Green briar in 1957. She moved it to its present location off Interstate 565 in 1987. She worked every day at the restaurant until about a year ago.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home and on Monday morning from 10 until 11 at the church.

The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mrs. Berzett died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born April 21, 1917, in Decatur to Charles Mitchell and Estelle Upchurch Mitchell. She was a member of Green briar Baptist Church. She was mother of the late Billy Wayne Berzett and Bobby Berzett. Survivors include two sons, Johnny Berzett of Athens and Charles Berzett of Fayetteville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Skipworth, Mike Dunlap, Ferdinand Baker, Chuck Berzett, Jordan Stafford and James Daily.

Memorials may be made to the Missionary Fund at Green briar Baptist Church.

Robert Earl Garner

Funeral for Robert Earl Garner, 53, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. Cary Orr officiating.

Burial will be in Ragland Cemetery in Limestone County. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10 until 11 at the funeral home.

Mr. Garner died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at East Ridge Hospital in Tennessee. He was born Aug. 3, 1948, in Limestone County to Sam Garner and Sue Clemons Garner. He attended Trinity High School in Athens. He was a Vietnam War veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart.

Survivors include two sons, Kendrick Horton of Decatur and Kenneth Wayne Moore of Madison; three daughters, Meshellda Horton and Rolanda Horton, both of Decatur, and Lavonda Moore of Madison; one sister, Minnie Stovall of Trinity; and 15 grandchildren.

Family members will be pallbearers.

Elfriede Richter Haaser

ATHENS -- Memorial service for Elfriede Richter Haaser, 81, of Florida and formerly of Huntsville, was to be today at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Huntsville with the Rev. Vernon Luckey officiating.

McConnell Funeral Home will direct the service.

Mrs. Haaser died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Wellington Place Health Care at Hampton Cove in Plantation, Fla. She was born Sept. 24, 1930, in Bautzen Sachsen, Germany to Paul Sancho Herold and Elise Johanne Schwarz Herold. She came to Huntsville from Germany in 1950 with the families of the Van Braun Rocket Team. She was a resident of Huntsville for 10 years. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Juergen R. Paetz of Huntsville and Hein F. Paetz of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Huntsville Youth Orchestra by calling 256-880-0622.

Jimmie Wayne
'Shorty' Haggenmacher

ATHENS -- Funeral for Jimmie Wayne "Shorty" Haggenmacher, 73, of Somerville and formerly of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. James Henderson and the Rev. Joe Mason officiating.

Burial will be in Bottoms Cemetery.

Mr. Haggenmacher died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 21, 1928, in Limestone County to Willie Haggenmacher and Rebecca Louise Holt Haggenmacher. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Haggenmacher was bluegrass musician. He won many fiddling contests at the fiddlers' convention in Athens.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Moore Haggenmacher; two daughters, Barbara Haggenmacher Maxwell of Somerville and Donnie Ann Currie of Owens Crossroads; one brother, Benny Haggenmacher of Harvest; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Nannie Belle Smith

ATHENS -- Funeral for Nannie Belle Smith, 82, of Harvest will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Everett Conn, Randall Hammock and the Keith Hovis officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at her home. She was born April 23, 1919, in Madison County to Harvey Robinson and Ola Robinson. She was the sister of the late Harvey Lee Robinson Jr., Vernon Robinson, Delmer Robinson and Sara Walker. She was a member of Capshaw Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest M. Smith; one son, Ernest Smith Jr. of Decatur; three daughters, Dorothy Putman and Shirley Durham, both of Harvest and Faye Freeman of Decatur; two brothers, Dexter Robinson of Madison and Kenneth Robinson of Huntsville; four sisters, Virgie Hovis of Harvest, Doris Brooks of Toney, Bertie Davis of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Helen Clutts of Lebanon, Ky; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tyrone Putman, Keith Hovis, Bryant Hovis, Shawn Smith, David Webster and Jimmy William.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice Family Care, 2225 Drake Ave. Suite 8, Huntsville, Al 35805.

C.B. Weaver

CULLMAN -- Funeral for C.B. Weaver, 81, of Cullman will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Carol Drinkard officiating. Burial will be in Simcoe Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Weaver died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at his residence. He was born July 22, 1920, in Cullman County to John Weaver and Daisy Bennefield Weaver. He was the widower of Mary Estelle League Weaver and the father of the late Leon Weaver. He was a member of Bibleway Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include four sons, Marvin Weaver, Danny Weaver, Wendell Weaver and Billy Weaver, all of Cullman; five daughters, Eva Mae Stone of Decatur, Edith Ballinger of Speake, Ester Baker and Linda Seals, both of Cullman, and Judy Bennett of Jacksonville; one brother, Alford Weaver of Cullman; 32 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Hubert John Wright

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Hubert John Wright, 70, of Danville will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Delashaw officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery in Speake. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Wright died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born April 30, 1931, in Morgan County to John Earl Wright and Ore Mae Childers Wright.

He was a Korean War veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Madith Grace Wright; one son, Marcus Wright of Decatur; two daughters, Kathy Terry of Trinity and Janice Miller of Danville; one brother, Leldon Wright of Wartrace, England; three sisters, Wilma Stinson and Nancy Morgan, both of Hartselle, and Thelma Lang of Wisconsin; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kristopher Terry, Kurtis Terry, Melvin Lawrimore, Ricky Smith, Michael Jones and Steve Wiley.

James B. Braswell
Funeral for James B. Braswell, 83, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Griffith officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Braswell died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 26, 1918, in Morgan County to Burrel Walker Braswell and Mattie Lou Means Braswell. He worked at Fruehauf and served in the United States Army during World War II, where he received the Bronze Star Medal for heroism during the Battle of the Bulge. He was the widower of Macie L. Braswell.

Survivors include two sisters, Heddy Thompson and Marie Ratliff, both of Hartselle.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Shirley Odell Cannon

ATHENS -- Funeral for Shirley Odell Cannon, of Indianapolis and formerly of Athens, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home with Earnest Campbell officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Survivors include one son, David Cannon of Athens; one daughter, Carolyn Cannon of Athens; two brothers, Esau Robinson of Gary, Ind., and Jacob Robinson of Los Angeles; and one sister, Earlene Robinson of Reno, Nev.

The funeral home will announced complete arrangements.

James Otis 'Bill' Corum

MOULTON -- Funeral for James Otis "Bill" Corum, 71, of Hillsboro will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Neal Blaxton officiating.

Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Corum died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at his home. He was born March 6, 1930, to Leonard and Ruthie Jane Corum. He was a retired foreman for Vulcan Materials. He was the brother of the late Odell Hutto.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Phillips Corum; seven sons, James E. Corum, Benjamin L. Corum, Willie Campbell, Charles Campbell and Danny Campbell, all of Moulton, Jimmy Campbell of Missouri and Gary Campbell of Florida; two daughters, Faye Terry and Betty Hill, both of Moulton; three brothers, Rubin Corum, David Corum and Paul Corum, all of Moulton; two sisters, Laconia Kirby of Decatur and Lucille Randolph of Moulton; 28 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Leonard Corum, Mike Corum, Craig Blaxton, Jonathan Campbell, Kevin Hutto, Joe Corum and Dale Knight.

Charles Orville 'Mutt' Goode

ATHENS -- Funeral for Charles Orville "Mutt" Goode, 74, of Athens will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. James Turner officiating.

Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Goode died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at his home. He was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Limestone County to Jonas and Ruby Goode. He was a retired Con Agra employee and commercial fisherman. He was the great-grandfather of the late Ashlen Coffman.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Adams Goode; three daughters, Gail Smith, Cathy Davenport and Glenda Adams, all of Athens; one brother, Alfred Eugene Goode of Athens; two sisters, Bessie Garner of Athens and Dorothy Turner of Elkmont; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Penley Jr., Marty Ledlow, David Adams, Jeff Davenport, Michael Goode and Zach Schrimsher.
