Robert Nelson

ATHENS -- Funeral for Robert Nelson, 71, of Athens will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Anniase Green officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Nelson died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Sept. 2, 1930, in Limestone County to Vannie Nelson and Gertrude Malone Nelson. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include his wife, Delilah Nelson; three sons, Eddie Lee Nelson, William Nelson and Robert Rich, all of Athens; and two brothers, Napoleon Nelson and George Nelson, both of Athens.

Sadie Daniel Roper

BIRMINGHAM -- Graveside service for Sadie Daniel Roper, of Hoover and formerly of Decatur, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Barbara Harper officiating and Ridouts Elmwood Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Roper died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at her home. She was born Dec. 20, 1914, in Austinville to John and Georgia Daniel. She moved to Birmingham with her late husband, Dwight Roper, where she was involved in Sunday school and women's circles at McCoy United Meth- odist Church.

Following World War II, she and her husband began an advertising company, where she worked with him developing the business through the 1940s and 1950s. She enjoyed playing golf at Green Valley Country Club, sewing for her children and playing with her grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Dan Roper of Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Judith Pardue of Hoover and Mary Griser of Inverness; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church or Unity Hospice in Birmingham, 2145 Highland Ave., Suite 110, Birmingham, AL 35205.

Albert Simmons

Funeral for Albert Simmons, 89, of Decatur will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Sharpley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mack Johnson officiating.

Burial will be at Sterrs Cemetery.

Mr. Simmons died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born in Lawrence County on Nov. 4, 1912, to Frank Simmons and Essa Sykes.

He worked at Ingalls Shipyard in Decatur for 12 years.

Survivors include four sons, Lovell Mosley of Decatur and Richard Mosley, Michael Mosley and Joe Mosley Jr., all of Hillsboro; three daughters, Susie Boykin and Jesse Allen, both of Decatur, and Betty Jean Williams of Hillsboro; two brothers, Mitchell Simmons of Detroit, Mich., and Jessie Simmons of Limons, Ohio; one sister, Mary Simmons of Nashville; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Williams, Richard Mosley, Jerome Williams and Bobby Allen.

Violet Lucille Smith Toone

Funeral for Violet n Smith Toone, 90, of Trinity was to be today at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Mike Nix officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Toone died at home Monday, Oct. 22, 2001. She was born March 6, 1911, in Lawr- ence County to Fred L. Smith Sr. and Minnie Demastress Smith. She was a member of Beltline Church of Christ and a retired nurse for Decatur General Hospital. She was the sister of the late Pauline Pettey and Fred L. Smith Jr.

Survivors include one daughter, Geraldine Fromhold of Trinity; two sisters, Hazel Tanksley of Decatur and Lessie Millican of Birmingham; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were to be Richard D. Goode, Bill Pettey, Clayton Fromhold, Tim Tanksley, Jake Fromhold and Steve Clark.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the American Cancer Society.

Royce Alfred Tuten

Graveside service for Royce Alfred Tuten, 81, of Hartselle will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Tuten died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at Sunshine Haven. He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Rogersville to Alfred Tuten and Sallie Tuten. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion. Mr. Tuten was a schoolteacher and United States Air Force veteran from World War II.

Survivors include one daughter, Gearita Campbell of Decatur; one brother, Johnny Tuten of Tuscumbia; one sister, Buelah Birdwell of Decatur; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Campbell, Brad Seay, Michael Campbell, Chad Burns, Lee Gray and Roger Griffin.

Oscar Leamon Haynes

Funeral for Oscar Leamon Haynes, 83, of Hartselle will be Saturday at noon at Mt. Pleasant CME Church with the Rev. Carrie Douglas officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour prior to service.

Mr. Haynes died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at his home. He was born in Hartselle on July 19, 1918, to Joseph August Haynes and Henrietta Ferguson Haynes. He lived in Ohio and worked for the Cuyahoga Stamping Company until his retirement in 1985. He then returned to Hartselle, where he was a member of the Mt. Pleasant CME Church. He was a steward at the church and member of the Masonic Lodge Corinthian Chapter Number 42. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Henrimae Haynes of Hartselle; and one brother, Clarence Haynes of Cleveland, Ohio.

Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge.

Rev. James T. Hoard Jr.

ATHENS -- Funeral for the Rev. James Thomas Hoard Jr., 60, of Athens will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. James Moore officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Hoard died Tuesday, Oct. 23, at his daughter's home. He was born Aug. 28, 1941, in Limestone County to James Thomas Hoard Sr. and Verge Mary Malone. He was a 27-year employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Decatur.

Survivors include his wife, Gracie Mae Hoard; three daughters, Roberta H. Brown of Decatur, and Mattie Mae Hoard-Vance and Gracie Marie Turner, both of Athens; two brothers, Horace Scott and Dave Williams Jr., both of Athens; three sisters, Connie Sue Hoard of Decatur, and Edna Dawkins and Eareline M. Madry, both of Athens.

Goodyear Tire and Rubber employees will be pallbearers.

Ed Wesley Peters

TRINITY -- Funeral for Ed Wesley Peters, 72, of Moulton will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Hale officiating.

Burial will be in Old Beulah Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Peters died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Feb. 19, 1929, in Childersburg, to Willie Peters and Birtie McGlone Peters. He was the retired manager of Littrell Lumber Co. paint department.

Survivors include one son, Roger Peters of Chalybeate; one step-daughter, Amy Cooper of Norfolk, Va.; one brother, Buck Peters of Hamilton; two sisters, Charlene Mitchell of Phil Campbell and Irene Borden of Hatton; one half-sister, Mary Lou Wagster of Princeton, Ky.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one step-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Peters, Steven Peters, Brian Peters, Wesley Peters, Jimmy Mitchell, Toney Beaver and Ricky Pennington.

Rebecca Gail Wunderlich

ATHENS -- Funeral for Rebecca Gail Wunderlich, 54, of Athens was to be tonight at 6:30 at the Clements High School new gym with the Rev. Calvin Havens and the Rev. Tommy Hammons officiating.

Graveside service will be Friday at 9 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Wunderlich died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1947, to Henry and Marion Russell Moldenhauer in Sylacauga. She was a teacher for over 30 years at Clements High School and was named assistant principal in January 2001. She served as sponsor for the junior and senior classes and for Beta Club for over 20 years. She was a founding member of Friendship United Methodist Church of Athens and a member of the Athens Community Chorus. She was the step-daughter of the Rev. Charles C. West.

Survivors include one daughter, Leah Ross Hughes of Athens; her mother of Athens; one brother, Phillip West of Orange Beach; one sister, Charlotte West of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Gail Wunderlich Trust Fund, which is set up for her two grandchildren, Jessica and Victoria, students at Clements High School. Checks may be made to Clements High School with a notation.

Pamela May Bolton

ATHENS -- Funeral for Pamela May Bolton, 48, of Athens will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Dan Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bolton died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Feb. 8, 1953, in Limestone County, to David Bolton Jr. and Lenora Coats Bolton. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Larry Earl Hodges of Athens; one daughter, Christy Tribble Sowell of Athens; her mother of Athens; five brothers, Lance Bolton, Tim Bolton, Mark Bolton, Brent Bolton and Terry Bolton, all of Athens; one sister, Martha Jean Chambers of Athens; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lane Bolton, Mark Bolton, Terry Bolton, Tim Bolton, Brent Bolton and Kevin White.

Rev. James T. Hoard Jr.

MOULTON -- Funeral for Grady L. Lovelady, 91, of Town Creek will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Milton Burks officiating.

Burial will be in Blackground Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Lovelady died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 6, 1910, in Colbert County to Sydney Lovelady and Minnie A Lovelady. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and the oldest member.

Survivors include his wife, Rhoda Lovelady, two sons, Leonard Lovelady and Alford Lovelady, both of Town Creek; one sister, Alma Purser of Town Creek; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will be pallbearers.
