Marshall Miller

PRICEVILLE -- Funeral for Marshall Miller, 43, of Somerville, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Priceville Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Springer officiating

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Miller died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born April 19, 1958, in Alabama to Jim Miller and Jewell Church Lewter. He was a machine operator for Morgan County District 4.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Miller; two sons, Kevin Miller of Somerville and Taylor Miller of Hazel Green ; one daughter, Kassie Miller of Somerville; his father of Hazel Green ; his mother of Prospect, Tenn.; his step-mother, Clida Miller of Hazel Green ; two sisters, Becky Johnson of Hazel Green and Christine Miller of Ozark; one half-brother, Jessie Lewter of Prospect, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Marlar, Glen Marlar, Dale Blackwood, Buddy Beaver, Joe Horsley and Wally Steelman.

Memorials may be made to the Neurological Fund, c/o Huntsville Hospital Foundation, 101 Sivley Rd., Huntsville, AL. 35801.

Annie Lou 'Polly' Waller

Funeral for Annie Lou "Polly" Waller, 65, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Honoraville with the Rev. Allen Wynn officiating at a 3 p.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Waller died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at her home. She was born Dec. 5, 1935, in Honoraville to James Gus Reeves and Vera Hudson Reeves. She attended Howard College in 1956 and graduated from Calhoun Community College in 1987 with honors. She retired as an executive secretary for North Alabama Regional Council of Governments. She was also a homemaker and a member of Oak Park Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school.

Survivors include her husband, Grover Lee Waller of Decatur; two sons, Hurley Lane Waller of Huntsville and Grover Steve Waller of Decatur; one daughter, Paula Gayle Waller of Birmingham; her mother of Honoraville; one brother, James Lee Reeves of Honoraville; and three grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Newman, Keith Reeves, Roger Waller, Bo Jackson, Terry Russell and Clark Dunn.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602, or the American Cancer Society at 2515-B Memorial Parkway SW, Huntsville, AL, 35801.

Irine Alexander
MOULTON -- Funeral for Irine Alexander, 80, of Moulton will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Lovette officiating.

Burial will be in Bogar Cemetery in Moulton. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alexander died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at her home. She was born May 24, 1921, in Graysville, Ga., to Steve B. Knight and Mary Rinda Rains Knight. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Pruitt W. Alexander Jr.; three sons, James E. Alexander, Arnold Alexander and Wendell Alexander, all of Moulton; six daughters, Mary Hicks, Evelyn Kitchens, Brenda Naylor, Nancy Alexander, and Linda Latham, all of Moulton, and Debra Story of Decatur; one brother, Ben Knight of Ringo, Ga.; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Daniel, Tim Daniel, Brandon Kitchens, Stacy Naylor, David Story and Shane Terry.

Walter Anderson Bennefield

Funeral for Walter Anderson Bennefield, 66, of Decatur will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church with Nathan Childers officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Bennefield died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 22, 1935, in Cullman County to Riley Wallace Bennefield and Dora Lee Isbell Bennefield. He was retired from the Maintenance Department at Industrial Uniform Co. He was the father of the late Janie Marie Bennefield.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Bennefield; five sons, Tim Bennefield of Tanner, Paul Bennefield and Wayne Bennefield, both of Athens, Joseph Bennefield of Cullman and Ray Bennefield of Decatur; two daughters, Patsy Sain and Sue Roy, both of Falkville; four sisters, Viola Clemons of Hartselle, Wyomie McGee of Decatur, Ruthie Blankenship of Moulton and Berta Mae Wilson of Georgia; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Bennefield, Adam Bennefield, Bobby Roy Jr., Noah Reed, Michael Bennefield and Walter Ray Bennefield Jr.

Grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.

John Robert Collier Sr.

ATHENS -- Funeral for John Robert Collier Sr., 82, of Athens will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Madkins Cumberland Chapel Presbyterian Church in Huntsville with the Rev. Endia Scruggs officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends throughout Thursday at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Collier died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born March 24, 1919, in Limestone County to Luke and Nancy Daly Collier. He was a maintenance worker for Monsanto, now Solutia.

Survivors include two sons, John Robert Collier Jr. of Atlanta and Jerauld Delano Collier of Athens; nine daughters, Barbara Collier of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Sherrye Collier Kyles of Midland, Mich., Gloria Collier Perry of Vallejo, Calif., Sheila Collier Davis of Athens, Connie Collier Shaw and Cora Collier Lafontant, both of Prospect, Tenn., and Julia Collier Griffith, Valerie Collier Battles and Carol Collier Jenkins, all of Atlanta; seven brothers, Wendell Collier of Elkmont, Ulyses Collier of Nashville, Luke Collier of San Francisco, Van Collier of Atlanta, and Thomas Collier, James Collier and Clinton Collier, all of Athens; three sisters, Ann Collier of Nashville, and Vanzola Nolan and Shirley Smith, both of Athens; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Wesley Davis

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Wesley Davis, 90, of Athens will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Eugene Persell officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Limestone County to Ciciro and Daisy Davis. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was the father of the late Paul Edward Davis, Billy Roe Davis and Myra Dean Flannagan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Davis; two sons, James Elmer Davis of Elkhart, Ind. and John Wesley Davis of Ocala, Fla.; four daughters, Betty Faye Hochstetler, Shirley Schrimsher, Delight Rogers and Mary Lee Davis, all of Athens; two brothers, John Davis of Athens and Van Davis of Ardmore; one sister, Mabel King of Ardmore; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be the pallbearers.

Betty Jean Jones

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Betty Jean Jones, 50, of Cullman will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Cain and the Rev. George Sawyer officiating.

Burial will be in Cullman Heritage Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center. She was born Nov. 5, 1950, in Morgan County, Ga. to John Robert Stovall and Doris Davis Stovall. She was the owner of Service Seed Brokerage and was the sister of the late Guy Bill Stovall.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Ned Jones; two sons, Dennis Jones of Kimberly and Matthew Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Cindy Cain of Hartselle; two brothers, J.T. Stovall of Eaton, Ga. and Dwayne Stovall of Hull, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

Mamie S. Loosier

FLORENCE -- Funeral for Mamie S. Loosier, 94, of Florence, was to be today at 2 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home with Jimmy Parker officiating.

Burial was to be in Black Ground Cemetery in Town Creek. The family was to receive friends two hours before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Loosier died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home in Florence. She was born Oct. 3, 1907, in Texas to Curtis and Viney McGregor. She was a retired Courtland High School lunchroom worker.

Survivors include one son, Joe Loosier of Courtland; four daughters, Bobbie Thompson of Lexington, Dean Slaton of Florence, Myrlene Chandler of Pelham and Louise Sherril of Wisconsin; one brother, Ben McGregor of Town Creek; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Buddy Thompson, Kenny Strickland, Craig Loosier, Dewayne Loosier, Justin Loosier and Raymond Loosier.

Ezell Ryan Stewart

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Ezell Ryan Stewart, 80, of Eva will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Robinson officiating.

Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stewart died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at her home. She was born Oct. 12, 1921, in Alabama to Sidney Ryan and Dunreath Frost Ryan. She was a secretary for TCI Steel and was the widow of J.B. Stewart. She was the step-mother of the late Carl Stewart and the sister of the late Trumon Ryan and Auburn Ryan.

Survivors include one step-daughter, Elizabeth Ann Cameron of Harpersville; one brother, Gafton Ryan of Falkville; four sisters, Datchel Ryan Holmes, Luetta Crider Kinney and Juanita Ryan Burdick, all of Eva, and Gaynell Ryan King of Cullman.

Walter Anderson Bennefield
Funeral for Walter Anderson Bennefield, 66, of Decatur was to be today at 1 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church with Nathan Childers officiating.

William 'Biggen' Byrd

HARTSELLE -- William "Biggen" Byrd, 64, of Florida, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Martin Memorial South Hospital in Florida.

He was born July 26, 1937, in Cullman County to Lee S. Byrd and Maggie Black Byrd. He was a laborer.

Survivors include two brothers, George Byrd of Golden Valley, Ariz., and Roy Byrd of Decatur; and two sisters, Ann Brown and Mae Foote, both of Decatur.

Virgil T. Key

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Virgil T. Key, 71, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Walters officiating.

Burial will be in Hatchett Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Key died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at South Morgan Health Care Center. He was born Nov. 23, 1929, in Fayette County to Tom Key and Martha Key. He was the widower of Francis Brock Key, the father of the late Lori Anne Key and the brother of the late George Key, David Key and Mary Studdard.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Newton and Lynn Key, both of Hartselle, and Karen Jones of Hazel Green ; one brother, Felix Key of Birmingham; two sisters, Jeanette Key and Sarah Ruth, both of Berry; and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Sept. 11 Fund, c/o the American Red Cross.

Rebecca C. Sutterer

Memorial service for Rebecca C. Sutterer, 45, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Taylor officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sutterer died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1956, in Decatur to Evans B. Conner and Mary E. McNese Conner. She worked in the accounting department at Wal-Mart. She was the sister of the late Myrtle Belle Rouse.

Survivors include her husband, H. Vann Sutterer; one stepson, Matthew Sutterer of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Tiffany Hale of Decatur; two brothers, Tommy B. Conner of Mt. Hope and James L. Fowler of Decatur; two sisters, Patricia Woodall and Donna J. Taylor, both of Decatur.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
