Anna Phillips Horton

ATHENS -- Funeral for Anna Phillips Horton, 80, of Athens will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Sanderfer Jr. and the Rev. Oscar Edmonds officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Horton died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Limestone County to Tom Phillips and Mamie Jackson Phillips. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include five sons, Harold Horton of Louisville, Ky., and Charles Horton, Johnny Horton, Douglas Horton and Alves Horton, all of Athens; two daughters, Della Darby and Margaret Smith, both of Athens; two brothers, David Phillips of Louisville, Ky., and Will Phillips of Elkmont; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Ola Mae White Singleton

TRINITY -- Funeral for Ola Mae White Singleton, 64, of Danville will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Chris Pressnell officiating.

Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Singleton died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Dec. 9, 1936, in Lawrence County to Flavil H. White and Cathleen Carpenter White. She was a member of Flint Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Louis A. Singleton; one son, Bobby L. Singleton of Danville; two daughters, Maranda Atkins and Myra Shupe, both of Danville; her mother of Danville; two brothers, Edward White of Moulton and Harold White of Danville; three sisters, Marie Allred of Decatur and Ann Oliver and Betty Lipscomb, both of Moulton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Lipscomb, Tony King, Eddie White, David White, Rickey Oliver and Camron Prince.

Clara Mae Thomas

ATHENS -- Funeral for Clara Mae Thomas, 87, of Athens will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Ms. Thomas died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

The funeral home will announce further arrangements.

Edna Vernon

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Edna Vernon, 87, of Double Springs will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church at Upshaw with the Rev. Glenn Wood officiating.

Burial will be Friendship Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vernon died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Hendrix Health Care Center. She was born Nov. 11, 1914, in Winston County to J. Isaac Denton and Lizzie McClain Denton. She was a homemaker and the widow of Purvis H. Vernon. She was the sister of the late Baxter Denton, Clem Denton, Alton Denton, Blain Denton and Vergie Stephens.

Survivors include one daughter, Shelba Vernon of Addison.

Donald Gene Vest

Graveside service for Donald Gene Vest, 61, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Johnson Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Vest died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at his residence. He was born April 13, 1940, in Hartselle to Walter B. Vest and Lucy Berdie Edmundson Vest.

He was retired from Fruehauf Corp., was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of Hartselle American Legion and a member of Hartselle United Methodist Church. He was brother of the late Malcolm Vest.

Survivors include one son, Gregory Cecil of Decatur; his mother, of Decatur; and two sisters, Jane Free and Evelyn Shelton, both of Decatur.

Winston W. Mizer

PRICEVILLE -- Winston W. Mizer, 82, of Lacey's Spring died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at his home. The family will hold a private memorial service. Price - ville Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mr. Mizer was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Missouri to Wesley Hartwell "Bud" Mizer and Jane Moore Mizer. He was a Baptist and a veteran of World War II. He was a bottle factory worker at Liberty Glass Co. in Sapulpa, Okla.

Survivors include his wife, Angela W. Mizer; one son, Wesley Mizer of Sapulpa, Okla.; three stepsons, Jimmy Lavon Williams and Anthony Keith Williams, both of Ozark, and Adam Nakia Williams of Lacey's Spring; one daughter, Viola Matthews of Sapulpa; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Morgan County.

Ollie V. Moats

MOULTON -- Funeral for Ollie V. Moats, 70, of Moulton was to be today at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Hale officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Moats died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Lawrence County to Raymond Terry and Euna Mae Terry.

She was a homemaker and a member of Sand Hill Independent Church.

Survivors include one son, Bruce Oneal Moats of Moulton; three brothers, Atwell Terry, Elijah Terry and Gidwindle Terry, all of Moulton; three sisters, Argean Terry and Julia Ray Hagood, both of Moulton, and Lola Dean Harville of Decatur; and two grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Clara Mae Thomas

ATHENS -- Funeral for Clara Mae Thomas, 87, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Ray Gray officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born June 26, 1914, in Tennessee to Alvin Young and Cora Lou Green Young. She was a member of Apostolic Holiness Church in Moulton, a homemaker and the widow of Walter Lee Thomas Sr.

Survivors include three sons, Walter L. Thomas Jr. of Athens, Donnie Edward Thomas of Lakeland, Fla., and Curtis Thomas of Ardmore; three daughters, Dorothy Mae Clem of Cleveland, Ohio, Margaret Davis of Caddo, and Marnez Adams of Athens; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Steve Thomas, Terry Owens, Greg Thomas, Dennis Clem, Randy Hargrove and Brian Thomas.

Robert Wilson 'Dub' Wright

ARAB -- A military funeral for Robert Wilson "Dub" Wright, 81, of Albertville will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Ryan Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Mike Rester officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Arab-Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before services.

Mr. Wright died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, in Albertville at the home of a daughter. He was born March 13, 1920, in Wedowee to Thomas Patrick Wright and Mary Louella Shaddix Wright. He owned several businesses in the area, his first store being the "Jott'em Down Store" in Hulaco, which he started as a senior in high school. He retired as a Texaco oil distributor for Lay & Wright Oil Co. of Guntersville, which he started in 1957.

He was a member of Ryan Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II. He participated in five major campaigns in the European theater, earning five Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. He was the widower of Claudia Copeland "Skipper" Wright and the brother of the late John Henry Wright.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Wright-Potts of Albertville and Gloria A. Wright of Guntersville; four brothers, Quinton Davis Wright and James Arthur Wright, both of Joppa, and Theo Pat Wright and Franklin D. Wright, both of Birmingham; one sister, Lavis Wright Grace of Joppa; and one granddaughter.

Shirley Blythe
TUSCUMBIA -- Graveside service for Shirley Blythe, 86, of Leighton will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at King Cemetery with Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blythe died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, in Birmingham.

Milton C. Clark

Funeral for Milton C. Clark, 58, of Danville will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Agee officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Clark died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1943, in Lawrence County to James Alta Clark and Minnie Crow Clark. He was a self-employed construction worker. He was the brother of the late James Clark and Jimmy Clark.

He is survived by two sons, Billy Clark of Trinity and Bobby Clark of Lacey's Spring; two daughters, Carol Clark Radford of Decatur and Cathy Clark Millwood of Trinity; six brothers, Bruce Clark, Rayburn Clark and Aaron Clark, all of Hartselle, and Jerry Clark, Barry Clark and Ernest Clark, all of Decatur; two sisters, Vickie Moody of Danville and Mickie Evans of Huntsville; and six grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Tracy Lea Collins

Funeral for Tracy Lea Collins, 39, of Priceville will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Brady McCullough officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will re- ceive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Ms. Collins died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at her home. She was born Oct. 9, 1962, in Huntsville to Thomas Collins and Frances Marianne Terry Collins. She was a graduate of Austin High School and an employee of General Electric.

Survivors include her parents; one brother, Tommy Collins of Tanner; and one sister, Theresa Collins Davis of Brentwood, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Ken Lott, Tim Hopper, Tom Hopper, Mark Werner, Jimmy Miller and Loyd Wynn.

Lois Van Antwerp Foster

ANDERSON, Ind. -- Funeral for Lois Van Antwerp Foster , 87, of Pendleton, Ind., formerly of Anderson, will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Burnett officiating.

Burial will be in Anderson Me- m- orial Park Cemetery. The family will re- ceive friends at the funeral home today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Foster died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Rawlins House in Pendleton. She was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Marion, Ind., to Floyd Van Antwerp and Ida Dickey Keesling Antwerp. She was a lifelong resident of Anderson and retired in 1980 from the Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 33 years. She was a member of UAW Local 663. She attended Markleville North Christian Church and Anderson First Church of the Nazarene. She was the stepdaughter of the late Oscar Keesling, the widow of Donnell J. Foster , the mother of the late Donna Mae Foster , the late Wilbur Lee Foster , the late Darl Dean Foster and the great-grandmother of the late Sarah Jean Foster .

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis J. Foster Seal of Markleville and Deborah A. Foster Porter of Hartselle; one stepsister, Mildred Kalk of New Castle, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Markleville North Christian Church or Anderson First Church of the Nazarene.

Tracy James Horn

Funeral for Tracy James Horn, 42, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Horn died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at his home. He was born May 8, 1959, in Decatur to Fred Horn Sr., and Doris Pickens Horn. He was a 1979 graduate of Decatur High School and was an employee of General Electric for the past 24 years.

Survivors include one son, Sean Horn of Decatur; his mother of Decatur; three brothers, Fred Horn Jr., Johnny Horn and Mike Horn, all of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Ben Chandler, J.R. Holland, Billy Doran, Mark Dishman, Jimmy Jones and Jeff Compton.
