Frankie Mae Swinea

ATHENS -- Funeral for Frankie Mae Swinea, 71, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Miss Swinea died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Limestone County to John Swinea and Bessie Swinea.

She was a member of West Highland Baptist Church and a former member of the Senior Citizens Band.

Survivors include one sister, Ruth LeCroix of Ardmore.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Jink Bogle
TRINITY -- Graveside service for Jink Bogle, 77, of Decatur was Friday at Morris Chapel Cemetery with Evan Bowling officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Bogle died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at University Hospital in Birmingham. He was born April 9, 1924, in Lawrence County to Joseph A. Bogle and Cora E. Moody Bogle. He was a retired cement finisher and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two brothers, Price Bogle and Thomas Bogle, both of Decatur; and one sister, Louise Stinson of Decatur.

His nephews served as pallbearers.

Marian Daley Brackin

TUSCUMBIA -- Graveside service for Marian Daley Brackin, 83, of Tuscumbia will be today at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Town Creek with Larry Harbin officiating and Morrison Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Brackin died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Glenwood Rehabilitation Center. She was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Yonkers, N.Y. She was a graduate of Cochran School of Nursing in Yonkers and completed a nurse anesthetist program in Chicago. She was a member of Tri-Cities Service League, Tri-Cities Medical Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church in Tuscumbia. She was the widow of Dr. O.D. Brackin and the mother of the late Michael Neil Brackin.

Survivors include one son, Richard Odom Brackin of Florence; one daughter, Linda Brackin Lovvorn of Athens; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Edna Ruth Jordan

Graveside service for Edna Ruth Jordan, 95, of Madison will be today at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Lynn Marshall officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Jordan died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Limestone Health Facility. She was born Jan. 29, 1906, in Tennessee to Thomas Adcock and Elizabeth Estes Adcock. She was a member of University Drive Baptist Church in Huntsville and Decatur Baptist Church. She was the sister of the late Allen Adcock, the late Clifford Adcock, the late Thomas Adcock, the late Willie Adcock and the late Gladys Bradford.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas D. Jordan of Decatur and James W. Jordan of Iuka, Miss.; three daughters, Elizabeth Pillow and Pat Patterson, both of Huntsville, and Peggy Ponzini of Madison; five sisters, Evelyn Lewis of Birmingham, Margie Martin of Courtland, and Louise Cottingham, Catherine Hames and Christine Dunn, all of Decatur; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lillie Mae Love

Funeral for Lillie Mae Love, 78, of Decatur will be Tuesday at noon at the Jubilee House of Prayer with the Rev. Thomas Strong officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 7 at Reynolds Funeral Home. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Ms. Love died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at her home. She was born July 25, 1923, in Gary, Ind. She was a former corrections officer in St. Louis and a senior companion in Decatur. She was a member of Jubilee House of Prayer and its Mother Board.

Survivors include four sons, Marvin Dixon of St. Louis, Robert Dixon of Decatur, Kenneth Morgan of Chicago and James Dixon of Houston; two daughters, Barbara Love and Jackie Love, both of St. Louis; and 22 grandchildren.

The brothers of Jubilee House of Prayer will serve as pallbearers.

Ruben 'Buddy' Morgan

Funeral for Ruben "Buddy" Morgan, 66, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Forman and the Rev. Ronnie Bullard officiating.

Graveside service will be at Limestone County Cemetery at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Morgan died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Sept. 25, 1935, in Limestone County. He was retired from Decatur Ready Mix.

Survivors include two sons, Lynn Morgan of Danville and Wayne Morgan of Falkville; four daughters, Sharlene Garrison of Hartselle, Melinda Thomas and Lisa Morgan, both of Decatur, and Darlene Atchley of Brindley Mountain; three brothers, Doug Morgan of Falkville, Dan Morgan of Decatur and Wilburn Morgan of Belle Mina; four sisters, Lucille Green of Belle Mina, Betty White and Glenda Borton, both of Michigan; and Martha Kelley of Athens; and 13 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Morgan Sr., Wayne Morgan, David Thomas, Lynn Morgan Jr., Danny Morgan and Josh Newton.

Jacob Alexander Metcalf-Mullins

Graveside service for infant Jacob Alexander Metcalf-Mullins will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dewitt Crowe officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The infant died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 16, 2001, at the hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Jeffrey L. Mullins and Jacqueline Metcalf, both of Hartselle; one brother, Jeffrey L. Mullins II of Hartselle; two sisters, Morgan Whitney Mullins and Cheyenne Jessie Lynn Mullins, both of Hartselle; his grandparents, Wanda S. Mullins and Frank D. Mullins, both of Hartselle, and Jack and Betty Metcalf Jr. of Decatur; and his great-grandparents, Georgia Metcalf of Decatur and R.E. and Thena Groover of Decatur.

Harry Grigsby

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Harry Grigsby, 78, of Madison, was Sunday at noon at Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Arthur Moore officiating.

Burial was in old Thatch Cemetery with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Grigsby died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Jefferson County to Earl and Gentry Grigsby. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retired Redstone Arsenal civil service worker.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Mae Grigsby; one brother, Herron Davis of Athens; and one sister, Veinner Rodgers of Madison.

Pallbearers were Allen Holman, John Miller, Alonzo Toney, Charles Bradley, Joseph Winston, Maurice Gordon, Billy George Moore and Victor Garth.

Frank Merlin Jones

MONTGOMERY -- Funeral for Frank Merlin Jones, 79, of Montgomery, formerly of Decatur, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Oak Hill.

Mr. Jones died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Oak Hill. He was a graduate of Auburn University, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. He was a member of the Montgomery Exchange Club and the American POWs. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart and the European Theatre Operations Medal. He was a prisoner of war for eight months. He was a chemical engineer with Chemstrand/Monsanto for 28 years before he retired.

Survivors include his wife, Dot Browder Jones; one son, Lynn M. Jones of Ocala, Fla.; one daughter, Windy Jones Whitley of Birmingham; and nine grandchildren.

Jimmy Lathern Riddle

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Jimmy Lathern Riddle, 51, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Pine Street Independent Church in Falkville with the Rev. Roger Ammons, the Rev. Milton Garrison and the Rev. Daniel Couch officiating.

Military Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery in Lawrence County, with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Riddle died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Feb. 12, 1950, in Morgan County to George Lathern Riddle and Annie Mae Watkins Riddle. He was a member of Pine Street Independent Church in Falkville. He was a United States Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran, receiving the Purple Heart, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, the Presidential Unit Citation, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the American Legion and former member of the Danville Volunteer Fire Department. He was the brother of the late Lois Riddle.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Elaine Riddle; three daughters, Nora Yvon Russell of Daytona, Fla., Selina Kay Ellis of Huntsville and Shannon LeAnn Henderson of Decatur; his mother of Hartselle; two brothers, Larry Riddle of Decatur and Billy Riddle of Falkville; one sister, Diane Riddle of Decatur; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clint Russell, Greg Ellis, Shawn Henderson, Ronnie Lawrimore, Bob Billman, Tom Smartt, Lionel Shedd and Pete Rector.

Alton Stone

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Alton Stone, 63, of Trinity, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Carol Drinkard officiating.

Burial will be in Simcoe Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Stone died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Medical Center East in Birmingham. He was born May 11, 1938, in Cullman County to Grover and Hazel Stone. He was a self-employed truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Mae Stone; one son, Donald Alton Stone of Decatur; two daughters, Liz Parker of Moulton and Debbie Sowell of Trinity; his mother of Cullman; one brother, Ricky Stone of Cullman; four sisters, Wynell Ivy, Betty Finley, Reba Chambers and Vera White, all of Cullman.

Teresa Kaye Dempsey
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Teresa Kaye Dempsey, 34, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dempsey died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born March 28, 1967, in Morgan County to Earl Dempsey and Kay Clemons. She was a United States Army veteran who served in the Special Forces and military police.

Survivors include her father of Decatur; her mother of Falkville; her stepmother, Cindy Dempsey of Decatur; two sisters, Shannon Lee of Somerville and Staci Hudgins of Hartselle; her grandparents, Frances Parker of Hartselle and Euna Dempsey of Huntsville; and one stepbrother, Todd Burgess of Decatur.

Cecilia Elizabeth Lansdell

ATHENS -- Funeral for Cecilia Elizabeth Lansdell, 38, of Elkmont, was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Tom Howe officiating.

Mrs. Lansdell died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born May 12, 1963, in Murray, Ky., to David and Judy Swindle. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Lansdell; two sons, Gage Lansdell and Gye Lansdell, both of Elkmont; her father and mother, both of Anderson; three brothers, Joe Wallace of Chattanooga, Gary Swindle of Anderson and Wayne Swindle of Nashville; two sisters, Teresa Atkins of Dover, Tenn., and Jaci Burgess of Anderson.

Maggie Virginia Owens

Funeral for Maggie Virginia Owens, 63, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Callahan and the Rev. Fred Crowe officiating.

Burial will be in Tanner Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Owens died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born June 28, 1938, in Limestone County to Thomas Rouse and Agnes Moss Rouse. She was a retired Prestolite employee of 31 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Louise Woodall and Sheree Lambert, both of Decatur; three sisters, Marie Reeves of Arkansas, Patsy Peden of Tennessee and Helen Martin of Decatur; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family friends.

Thelma Callahan Ruf

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Thelma Callahan Ruf, 78, of Athens, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Germantown Cemetery in Limestone County with McConnell Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ruf died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at her home. The funeral home will announce complete arrangements.
