Rosie Lee Spann

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Rosie Lee Spann, 66, of Town Creek was to be today at 2 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Alton Smith officiating.

Burial was to be in Providence Cemetery.

Ms. Spann died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1935, in Lawrence County to Willie Gibson and Leatie Hill Gibson. She retired from Hughes Aircraft in Chicago after 37 years. Family members said she loved and cared for her five dogs, Sweet Pea, Prissy Lee, Tony, Toby and Tina.

Survivors include three brothers, William Gibson and Thomas Gibson, both of Town Creek, and Fendle Gibson of Florence; and three sisters, Dorothy Parker, Margie Nell Robbins and Polly Butler, all of Town Creek.

Nephews were to be pallbearers.

Charlie Whetstone

ATHENS -- Funeral for Charlie Whetstone, 60, of Tanner will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at New Elam Missionary Baptist Church in Alexander City with the Rev. Eddie Jennings officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Whetstone died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He retired from Delphi Steering Systems in Decatur. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Whetstone; one son, Charlie Whetstone Jr., of Youngstown, Ohio; one daughter, Deborah Miller of Youngstown, Ohio; and one sister, Bonnie Tracey of The Bronx, N.Y.

Mary Virginia Williams

Graveside service for Mary Virginia Williams, 65, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Sandra Locke-Godbey officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Williams died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Decatur to Robert B. Harrison and Mary Virginia Jones.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Confederacy. She was the widow of Larry J. Williams and sister of the late Deborah Harrison Work.

Survivors include one son, Will Williams of Decatur; two daughters, Mary Virginia Holman and DebAnn Jackson, both of Decatur; one brother, Robert B. Harrison II of Oklahoma City; one sister, Frances Gannon of San Antonio, Texas; and three granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Sarah Christine 'Billie' Aycock
Funeral for Sarah Christine "Billie" Aycock, 89, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Griffith, the Rev. Paul Plumb and the Rev. W. G. Henry officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Aycock died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at NHC Healthcare Center in Moulton. She was born Nov. 13, 1912, in Morgan County to John W. Lamon and Marian Braswell Lamon. She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, J.R. Aycock of Hamilton; one daughter, Doris Pepper of Decatur; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bryon Pepper, Timothy Sokoll, Ricky Aycock, Russell Millwood, Anthony Aycock and Wilson Mitchell.

James C. Brown

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for James C. Brown, 70, of Danville will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with Donnie McDonald and Joey Coots officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Mr. Brown's body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Brown died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at his residence. He was born Jan. 2, 1931, in Morgan County to Allen Anderson Brown and Myrtle Lee Scoggins Brown. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist for 50 years. He was a military veteran of the Korean War. He was a self-employed construction worker.

He was husband of the late Martha A. Brown, father of the late David Leon Brown and brother of the late Lanier Brown, Johnnie E. Brown, Lorene C. Brown and Edna W. Brown.

Survivors include four sons, William C. Brown of Hartselle, Jimmy W. Brown and James Allen Brown, both of Danville and Michael D. Brown of Trinity; three daughters, Ann Stracener of Addison, Sandra Flowers of Danville and Pam New of Hartselle; four brothers, Ray Brown of Danville, Faye Brown of Anniston, Bill Brown of Canton, Ga. and Carl Brown of Atlanta; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Brown, Tim Brown, Brandon Flowers, Bradley Flowers, Daniel Terry, Chris Terry, Eric Stracener, Shane Bryant and Tearle Brown.

Charles 'Chuck' Riddle

MOULTON -- Funeral for Charles "Chuck" Riddle, 34, of Town Creek will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Riddle died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at his residence. He was born July 17, 1967, in Lawrence County to Bobby Riddle and Lois Burfield. He was a member of Mount Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Bobby Riddle of Town Creek; one daughter, Amber Riddle of Town Creek; three brothers, Jeff Riddle of Moulton, Tim Riddle of Hatton and Shane Latham of Town Creek; and grandmother, Lucy Riddle of Moulton.

Uncles will be pallbearers.

Mary Virginia Williams

John Heflin Woodruff

MOULTON -- Funeral for John Heflin Woodruff, 83, of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Jones and the Rev. Junior Rogers officiating.

Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Woodruff died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 16, 1917, in Franklin County to Thomas Tarpley Woodruff and Annie Jane Heflin Woodruff.

He was a deacon at Corinth Baptist for 50 years and a retired carpenter. He was brother of the late Hayes Woodruff.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Katherine Woodruff; four sons, Jerry Woodruff, Tony Woodruff, Marvin Woodruff and Joe Woodruff, all of Moulton; two daughters, Nancy Corum and Martha Mullins, both of Moulton; one brother, Price Woodruff of Muscle Shoals; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Woodruff, Greg Woodruff, Jonathan Corum, David Woodruff, Tommy Dotson, Brad Dotson, Kody Petruna and Chase Woodruff.

Louise M. Lamon
Funeral for Louise M. Lamon, 84, of Trinity will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with Ralph Stout and Mike King officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lamon died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at SunBridge Rehabilitaton and Care. She was born May 10, 1917, in Limestone County to Barney M. McAlister and Ruby Evans McAlister. She was retired from Parisian, was a homemaker and a member of Grant Street Church of Christ. She was the widow of Howard Lamon and the grandmother of the late Vickie Posey.

Survivors include a daughter Robbie Segars of Trinity; one sister, Doris McGuigan of Russellville, Ark.; one granddaughter; one step-grandaughter; two great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Aaron Lee Ellison Malone

ATHENS -- Funeral for Aaron Lee Ellison Malone, 49, of Huntsville will be Monday at noon at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Lockett Sr. officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Malone died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 28, 1952, in Limestone County to Ernest Malone and Dorothy Ruffin Malone.

Survivors include three sons, Jarvis Malone and Eric Malone, both of Huntsville, and Aaron Malone Jr. of Athens; three daughters; his mother and stepfather, Will Ruffin, of Athens; four brothers; and nine grandchildren.

Kathleen Yarbrough Pendleton

Funeral for Kathleen Yarbrough Pendleton, 84, of Decatur will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. John Clotfelter officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pendleton died Dec. 1, 2001, at Morningside Assisted Living. She was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Decatur to Herbert H. Yarbrough and Lepha Jolly Yarbrough. She was a member of City Road United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Hayes Sunday School Class. Formerly of Hendersonville, Tenn., she was a retired bookkeeper.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd E. Pendleton; two daughters, Rebecca S. Harris and Patricia S. Hough, both of Decatur; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Jonathon David Ferrell, James Anthony Glass, Steve Clepper, Billy Joe Drake, William J. Brazelton, and Mac McCluskey.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Hayes Sunday School Class.

Lois Rutherford

MOULTON -- Funeral for Lois Rutherford, 58, of Town Creek will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rutherford died Nov. 28, 2001, at her home. She was born March 12, 1943, in Moulton to Albert and Nola Burfield. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Hope Baptist Church. She was mother of the late Chuck Riddle.

Survivors include three sons, Jeff Riddle of Moulton, Tim Riddle of Hatton and Shane Latham of Town Creek; two brothers, Jimmy Burfield of Trinity and Hoyt Burfield of Nashville; three sisters, Betty Woodard of Elgin, Norine Mizell of Danville and Carolyn Smith of Mount Hope; and 10 grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Lillie Mae Smallwood

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Lillie Mae Smallwood, 89, of Lacey's Spring will be today at 2 p.m. at Red Oak Grove Church with the Rev. Larry Millard officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Smallwood died Nov. 30, 2001, at her residence. She was born May 25, 1912, In Morgan County to James West and Carrie Travis West. She was a retiree of Pizitz Department Store and a member of Red Oak Grove. She was wife of the late Luke Smallwood and mother of the late J.V. Smallwood.

Survivors include one son, J.L. Smallwood Jr. of Robbinsville, N.C.; one daughter, Sue Stidger of Lacey's Spring; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
