Garr Streelman

HUNTSVILLE -- A private memorial service will be held in Oregon for Garr J. Streelman, 52, of New Market, who died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital.

He was a native of Maupin, Oregon and a former resident of Huntsville. He was a self-employed cabinet and furniture craftsman.

Survivors include his wife, Susan R. Turner; one son, Daniel A. Streelman of Decatur; and one brother, Alan Streelman of Orland, Calif.

Jerry Crowden

MOULTON -- Funeral for Jerry Crowden, 41, of Town Creek, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert Hodges officiating.

Burial will be in King Cemetery in Town Creek. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Crowden died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, in Town Creek. He was born Oct. 29, 1960, in Colbert County, to Bobby Crowden and Edna Melton Crowden. He worked as a farmer with Hugh J. Posey in Town Creek.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Crowden; one step-son, Justin Yarbrough of Town Creek; one step-daughter, Ashley Williams of Town Creek; his parents, of Leighton; two brothers, Tim Crowden and Steven Crowden, both of Leighton; and one sister, Angela Johnson of Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Smith, Coy Kirby, Silas Crowden, Matthew Posey, Marlon Corum and Travis Franks.

Ophelia Bolan Higdon

HARTSELLE -- Ophelia Bolan Higdon, 60, of Goodrich, Mich., died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, in Goodrich. Peck Funeral Home will announce local arrangements.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sherman Wilk Funeral Home in Ortonville, Mich.

Lois Irene Malone

ATHENS -- Funeral for Lois Irene Malone, 75, of Elkmont, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Steve Ferguson and James Merritt officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Malone died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at her home. She was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Limestone County to Ben and Annie Harlow. She was a homemaker and a member of Elkmont Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Roger E. Malone; two sons, Roger B. Malone of Anderson and Michael Malone of Athens; four daughters, Ann Robinson of Elkmont, Betty Graham of Smyrna, Tenn., Kay Loggins of Athens and Cathy Seibert of Priceville; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steven McLemore, Josh McLemore, Chris Graham, Andrew Jones, Eric Robinson, Stan Davis and Darren Seibert.

Thomas Harrison Roden

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Thomas Harrison Roden, 82, of Hartselle was to be today at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Collins officiating.

Burial was to be in Gum Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Roden died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at his home. He was born April 20, 1919, in Morgan County to James Harrison Roden and Willie Ethal Mullins Roden. He was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was an operator for the Alabama Highway Department.

Survivors include his wife, Martha E. Roden; one son, Danial N. Roden of Hartselle; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Connie Holmes, Jeff Maddox, C.C. Mitchel, John Self, Van Hudgins and Larry Sivley.

William David Smith

ATHENS -- Graveside service for William David Smith, 83, of Athens, was to be today at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Limestone County to Harry and Cora Smith. He was retired from NASA. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn D. Smith; two sons, David N. Smith and John W. Smith, both of Athens; one sister, Bernice Rose of Athens; and two granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Donald Ray 'Don' Stringer

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Donald Ray "Don" Stringer, 65, of Priceville will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Berry officiating.

Burial will be at Burningtree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Stringer died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Mississippi to Olice Gayle Stringer and Annie Speed Stringer. He was a Baptist and a drag racing fan. He enjoyed building and working on racecars with his son, Terry. He was a mechanical material controller with Fluor Daniels Construction Co. for 34 years. He was the brother of the late J.W. Stringer, Danny Lee Stringer and Clarine McAlpin.

Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Stringer; two sons, Jeffery Lynn Stringer and Brinson Terry Stringer, both of Decatur; one brother, O.V. Stringer of Lucedale, Miss.; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Allen Smith, Terry Stringer, Jeff Stringer, J.B. Stringer, Mickey Stringer, Danny Stringer, Danny Stewart and Michael Smith.

Kathleen Bailey
CULLMAN -- Funeral for Kathleen Bailey, 87, of Cullman will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home with Thomas Larkin officiating.

Burial will be in Prospect Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 6 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bailey died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born Aug. 14, 1914, in Cullman County to Rossie Denson Sinyard. She was the stepdaughter of Weaver Sinyard. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Myra Brantley of Hartselle; two sisters, Mary Helms of Cullman and Martha McMurry of Huntsville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pamela Kay Griffin Cobb

ATHENS -- Funeral for Pamela Kay Griffin Cobb, 45, of Decatur, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe McKaig officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Cobb died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at her home. She was born Sept. 13, 1956, in Athens to Neal and Louise Griffin. She was a homemaker and a member of Decatur Baptist Church. She was the mother of the late Ashley Cobb.

Survivors include two daughters, Allison Thorne of Jacksonville, N.C. and Alisha Sherman of Decatur; her parents of Athens; three sisters, Shirley Hatch of Canton, Ohio, Nancy Putman of Athens and Marcia Atchley of Ardmore; and two grandchildren.

Nephews and cousins will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or the Gideons.

Louise King DeLuca

ATHENS -- Funeral for Louise King DeLuca, 76, of Harvest and formerly of Dickinson, Texas, was to be today at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Universe Catholic Church in Huntsville with the Rev. Albert Fisher officiating.

Burial was to be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson with McConnell Funeral Home directing local arrangements.

The family was to receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Mrs. DeLuca died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at her home. She was born April 6, 1925, in San Marcos, Texas, to German Deupree King and Dixie Louise Pickett Edwards. She was a resident of Dickinson until 1990, when she and her late husband, Carmelo S. DeLuca, moved to Harvest to live with their daughter. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Charles Stephen DeLuca of Louisville, Ky.; two daughters, Shirley D. Hinton of Harvest and Virginia Louise Walden of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Eleanor Jane Murray of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

James Gill Draper

ATHENS -- Graveside service for James Gill Draper, 55, of Athens, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at a cemetery to be announced by Spry Funeral Home.

Mr. Draper died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 14, 1946, in Limestone County to Lawson and Katherine Draper. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy and a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Draper of Montgomery.

Elner 'Tootsie' Hill

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Elner "Tootsie" Hill, 63, of Hartselle was to be today at 1:30 at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Martha Hardin and the Rev. Frances Proctor officiating.

Burial was to be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lawrence County.

Mrs. Hill died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at The University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. She was born June 11, 1938, in Lawrence County to Otis Warren Hardin and Lois Irene Gray Hardin. She was a member of Somerville Pentecostal Church. She was former manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Hartselle. She was the sister of the late Hershel Hardin, Ersie Hardin, Jeanette Wright and Joyce Hardin.

Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Faye Tanksley of Danville; her mother of Midway; one brother, Percy Hardin of Midway; four sisters, Doris Jean Mason of Hartselle, Shirley Hardin Parker of Decatur, and Silveree Sterline and Linda Morgan, both of Danville; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Glenn Hardin, Gwen Hardin, Timothy Hardin, Adam Pylant, Michael Pylant, John Sterling and Jarrod Thomas.

Richard Howard Johnson

GADSDEN -- Funeral for Richard Howard Johnson, 63, of Whorton's Bend will be Wednesday at 9:30 at Collier-Butler Chapel with the Rev. Ray Lewis officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Riverview Regional Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1938, in Dekalb County. He graduated from The University of Alabama and was a a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps, reaching the rank of captain. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. after 32 years in the development department. He was a member of Whorton Bend United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Frances Sherard Johnson; one son, Richard H. Johnson Jr., of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Catherine Johnson McBride of Southside and Sarah Elizabeth Johnson of Mobile; one brother, Irby C. Johnson of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Whorton Bend United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.

Mack Allen Page

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Mack Allen Page, 59, of Clouds Cove will be Wednesday at noon at Twickenham Funeral Home South Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Morrow officiating.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Cave Spring Cemetery in Lawrence County. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Page died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at his home. He was born Nov. 5, 1942, in Alabama to William and Marvelean Page. He was a farmer and the widower of Peggy Jean Borden Page.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Page of Union Grove and Lee Page of Lacey's Spring; two daughters, Nichole Armstrong of Lacey's Spring and Deborah Brooks of Clouds Cove; one sister, Sarah Lee McCarley of Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
