Willie B. Mosley

Funeral for Willie B. Mosley, 62, of Hillsboro will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Courtland with the Rev. Marcus Davidson officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Mosley died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born April 15, 1939, in Lawrence County to Matt Mosley and Nellie Mosley. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board. He was a member of Hunting Lodge 774 and was retired from Delphi Steering Systems. He was the brother of the late Joe Mosley.

Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Mosley; four sons, Willie Mosley Jr. and James Mosley, both of Hillsboro, and Johnny Mosley and Matthew Mosley, both of Decatur; three daughters, Joyce Neville of Huntsville, and Debra Mason and Cassandra Faye Hampton, both of Hillsboro; four brothers, Matt Mosley of Hillsboro, Woody Mosley of North Courtland, and Tom Wood and Elmer Mosley, both of Chattanooga; four sisters, Louise Bolden of Hillsboro, Stella Smith of North Courtland, and Mattie Fuqua and Mary Garrett, both of Chattanooga; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Mary Frances Muston

TRINITY -- Funeral for Mary Frances Muston, 88, of Courtland was to be today at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Reding and the Rev. James Long officiating.

Burial was to be in Blackground Cemetery.

Mrs. Muston died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born Feb. 28, 1913, in Lawrence County, to Lehmon Collier and Georgia Frost Collier. She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and the widow of Fred Madison Muston.

Survivors include three sons, L.M. Muston of Courtland, Randell Muston of Trinity and Aaron Muston of Florence; three daughters, Martha Kirby of Courtland, Irene Bumgart of Moulton and Ida South of Rogersville; three brothers, Hezzy Collier, Winston Collier and Richard Bill Collier, all of Courtland; one sister, Pauline Weems of Decatur; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Tim Bumgart, Mike Muston, Deon Muston, Rickey Kirby, Freddie Kirby and Michael Muston.

Vera M. Turrentine

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Vera M. Turrentine, 76, of Danville, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, south of Danville.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Turrentine died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at her home. The funeral home will announce complete arrangements.

Rosie Mae Adams
ATHENS -- Graveside service for Rosie Mae Adams, 85, of Burton, Mich., will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Antioch Cemetery in Elkmont with Spry Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Monday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Adams died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in Flint, Mich. She was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Limestone County to John Holland and Florence Holland. She was a homemaker and a member of Revival Tabernacle Church of Flint, Mich.

Survivors include four sons, Emmett J. Adams of Florida, Wayne Adams of Swartz Creek, Mich., John Adams of Indiana and Gary Adams of Flint, Mich.; two daughters, Flowella Owens of Oklahoma and Shirley TaFoya of Mesick, Mich.; one sister, Louise Tucker of Florida; 24 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Allen Dean Bennett

HAZEL GREEN -- Funeral for Allen Dean Bennett, 86, of Meridianville will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Eads officiating.

Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bennett died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Nashville. He was born Oct. 8, 1915, in Madison County to Oliver Bennett and Minnie Bush Bennett. He was an Army veteran and a prisoner of war during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hazel Green and retired as a truck driver for Gordon Freight Co. of Decatur.

Survivors include his wife, Alvonia Smith Bennett; two sons, Bobby Allen Bennett of Huntsville and Richard Ottava Bennett of Decatur; two daughters, Janice Ashabraner of Hazel Green and Karen Ruby of Meridianville; one half-sister, Betty Adams of Greeley, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Donald Wade Drinkard

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Memorial service for Donald Wade Drinkard, 43, of Lamar, Miss., will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bibleway Church in Fairview, Ala.

Twin Oaks Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Drinkard died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Baptist DeSoto Memorial Hospital in Southaven. He was born July 23, 1958, to Avery Drinkard and Helen Drinkard. He was an Army veteran and a licensed practical nurse.

Survivors include one son, Eric Drinkard of Eva; one daughter, Bridgett Drinkard McIntosh of Eva; two brothers, Jerry Drinkard of Fairview and Kim Drinkard of Nectar; five sisters, Rita Suggs of Birmingham, Shirley Duckworth of Cullman, Joan Hogland of Gardendale, Lisa Adkins of Nectar and Tammy Steuber of Lagrangeville, N.Y.; his father of Cullman and his mother of Decatur; and one grandchild.

Addie Frances Hunt

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- Funeral for Addie Frances Hunt, 73, of Riverdale, Ga., will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Hardy officiating.

Burial will be in Camp Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hunt died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale. She was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Newton County, Ga., to Eugene Mask and Dessa Dawkins Mask. She worked as a waitress. She was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Griffin, Ga.

Survivors include three sons, Ken Stubbs of Tyrone, Ga., Mike Stubbs of Lacey's Spring and Jay Stubbs of Newnan, Ga.; two daughters, Alice Faye Beck of Griffin, Ga., and Shirley Obert of Gay, Ga.; two sisters, Thelma Williamson of Fayetteville, Ga., and Louise Johnson of Covington, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Elmer Vinette Murphree

MOULTON -- Funeral for Elmer Vinette Murphree, 82, of Moulton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Amos Hood and the Rev. Ronald Oliver officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Murphree died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at his home. He was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Lawrence County to Vinette Murphree and Lela Montgomery Murphree. He was a retired farmer and a member of Salem Baptist Church. He was the brother of the late Bill Murphree, the late Wilmer Murphree, the late Ernest Murphree, the late Chessie Rutherford and the late Bessie Jones Warden.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Nicholson Murphree; one son, Grady Murphree of Town Creek; four daughters, Betty Gwendolyn Dawson of Leighton, Glenda Sue Stewart of Town Creek, Patty Heaps of Hatton and Paulette Brannon of Trinity; two sisters, Lillie Mae Frost and Vera Murphree, both of Moulton; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Brannon, Joey Brannon, Dereck Sherrill, Harold Murphree, Nathaniel Murphree and Hillard Frost.

Vera M. Turrentine

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Vera M. Turrentine, 76, of Danville will be today at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church south of Danville with the Rev. Dan Compton officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Turrentine died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at her home. She was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Lawrence County to James Noah Asherbranner and Lillian Elizabeth Green Asherbranner. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was the widow of Albert Grady Turrentine.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Turrentine of Hartselle and James Turrentine of Danville; three daughters, Brenda Maples of Hartselle, Reba Brown of Valhermoso Springs and Linda Turrentine of Danville; one brother, Travis Asherbranner of Danville; one sister, Lois Sanford of Danville; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Willard Asherbranner, David Deloach, Albert Dotson, Brandon Johnson, Frankie Sanford, Conrad Turrentine, Donnie Turrentine and Jeff Young.

Ovie J. Tyree

CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- Funeral for Ovie J. Tyree, 86, of Cleveland, Tenn., will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Buckner-Rush Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends today the funeral home for one hour before services. Graveside service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens in Trinity with the Rev. David Mason officiating and Twin Oaks Funeral Home of Rogersville directing.

Mr. Tyree died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Bradley Memorial Hospital in Cleveland. He was born Oct. 7, 1914, in Kettle Island, Ky., to Jesse Tyree and Nannie Sutton Tyree. He was a retired miner and a member of North Cleveland Church of God. He and his wife were married for 66 years.

Survivors include his wife Lorena Proffitt Tyree; one son, Gary Tyree of Trinity; three brothers, Vernon Tyree, Eugene Tyree and Donald Tyree, all of London, Ky.; three sisters, Gladys Yates of Ohio and Mable Joseph and Lonnie Jervis, both of Kentucky.

Homer Lyle Garrison

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Homer Lyle Garrison, 83, of Somerville will be today at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. A. Ray Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Turney Cemetery.

Mr. Garrison died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Morgan County to Newton Q. Dillard Garrison and Lillie Lee Lyle Garrison.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Valhermoso Baptist Church. He was the brother of the late Ameron Pattilo Garrison, the late Vivian Imogene Blankenship, the late Wynona Latane Garrison and the late Eris Laverne Garrison.

Survivors include his wife, Verdie Belle Garrison; one son, Neito Garrison of Priceville; three daughters, Neoma Sullins and Carolyn Garrison, both of Priceville, and Yvonne Glasscock of Madison; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Jean Viola Godbee

Funeral for Jean Viola Godbee, 72, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Godbee died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born June 1, 1929, in Cullman to the Rev. Ulice Grant Goodwin and Vernice Hale Goodwin. She retired from the Alabama Mental Health Department.

Survivors include two sons, Howard Godbee of Decatur and James A. Godbee of Athens; two daughters, Beverly Bowie of Decatur and Sharon J. Morris of Hartselle; one brother, Mallard Goodwin of Harvest; two sisters, Betty Dean Ford and Fay Forman, both of Killen; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James A. Godbee, Howard Godbee, Joseph Burgess, Byron Godbee, Christopher Godbee and Carl Sawyer.

Swannie Harris

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Swannie Harris, 81, of Athens will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Moulton with the Rev. Jackie Shelton officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harris died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at her home. She was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Limestone County to William H. Ham and Cora Mae Overstreet Ham.

She was a seamstress and a homemaker. She was a mem- ber of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of Clarence H. Harris Sr.

Survivors include two sons, Clarence H. Harris Jr. of Falkville and Jeff Harris of Moulton; six daughters, Betty Terry of Trinity, Jean Bell of Decatur, Brenda Owens of Moulton, Dean Baucom of Athens, Patricia Long of Somerville and Tammy Hollaway of Hartselle; three sisters, Ila Carrigan and Orene Ham, both of Florence, and Ethel Hodges of McComb, Miss.; one half-sister, Jack Hudson of Athens; and 19 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Calvin Terry, Don Owens, Charlie Baucom, John Long, Guy Hollaway Jr., and Kim Johnson.

Joey Hill

ATHENS -- Funeral for Joey Hill, 59, of Rogersville and formerly of Athens, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before services.

Mr. Hill died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. He was born Oct. 4, 1942, in Arkansas to Joseph Berryman Hill Sr. and Alice Elizabeth Wilson Hill. He was a member of the Baptist church and enjoyed fishing, collecting old coins and reading the Bible.

Survivors include two sisters, Emma Jean Hill McElyea and Rosie Kerr, both of Athens.

Pallbearers will be Steve Kerr, Brent Kerr, Andy Kerr, Mark McElyea, Kenny Wright and Vernon Lovell.
