Pamela Ruth Davis Butler
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Pamela Ruth Davis Butler, 37, of Decatur will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Butler died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born March 2, 1964, in Morgan County. A homemaker, she attended Brewer High School and was a graduate of National Career College.

Survivors include three daughters, Amanda Nicole Bragg of Huntsville and Andr'a Bragg and Alease Lashay Bragg, both of New Market; her parents, Dallon H. Davis of Brookland, Ark., and Lillie Brown Davis of Decatur; one brother, Danny H. Davis of Lead Hill, Ark.; two sisters, Dinah J. Brown and Kimberly M. Stringer, both of Decatur; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Marty Barber, Lavoyd Lemmond, Jerry Roberts, Charles Taylor and Greg Taylor.

Edith Lovell Davis

Funeral for Edith Lovell Davis, 81, of Elkmont will be today at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Rodney Britton officiating.

Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Nov. 30, 1920, in Limestone County, to Tom and Laura Lovell. She was a Methodist and the widow of Chester Leon Davis.

Survivors include Rebecca Ann Hicks and Martha Sue Cook, both of Salem; two sisters, Edna Johnson of Lester and Eva Will McConnell of Athens; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Hicks, Brandon Hicks, Tom Hicks, Jim Cook, Mike Kyle and Charles Wayne Patterson.

Nina Mae Gladden

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Nina Mae Gladden, 71, of Athens will be Monday at 3 p.m. in Roselawn Cemetery with Randy Carter officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 6 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gladden died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at her home. She was born May 7, 1930, in Scottsboro to Horton Arnold and Martha Grider Arnold. She lived in Limestone County since 1979. She was the sister of the late Roy Arnold, Hardee Arnold, Sybil Wilcox and Gladys Clave.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer C. Gladden; five sons, Aaron Clayton Gladden of Athens, David Leon Gladden of Lakewood, Calif., Michael A. Gladden of San Diego and Darryl L. Gladden and Joseph W. Gladden, both of Florence; one daughter, Linda Hannes of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, John Arnold and Thomas Arnold, both of Scottsboro; two sisters, Carrie Arnold and Paulie Parker, both of Scottsboro; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Elnor Geneva Hicks

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Elnor Geneva Hicks, 89, of Falkville will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home with John Gibson officiating.

Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in West Point. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hicks died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born June 5, 1912, in Cullman County, to John Tillery and Nola Gibson Tillery. She was a lifetime member of Beulah Church of Christ and was the widow of Herbert Hicks.

Survivors include one son, Ray Hicks of Cullman; one daughter, Jackey Lokey of Falkville; one sister, Allie Stinson of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Artis Boyd Ray

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Artis Boyd Ray, 69, of Decatur will be today at 8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Henderson and the Rev. Ernest Morris officiating.

Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Ray died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1932, in Cullman County, to Rufus Jackson Ray and Vera Pope Ray. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of Flint Baptist Church in Cullman County.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Ray; one son, Keith Ray of Decatur; one daughter, Raymonda Foote of Falkville; one brother, Tommy Ray of Vinemont; four sisters, Myra Hill of Decatur, Oleta Wilhite of Hartselle and Jewell Yarbrough and Marie Moore, both of Birmingham; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Keith Ray, Erick Ray, Norman Foote, John Foote, Harold Hill and Corky Hill.

Earline Batts
ATHENS -- Funeral for Earline Batts, 85, of Athens will be Tuesday at noon at New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Tanner with the Rev. Larry Lockett Sr. officiating and Peoples Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann's Cemetery. The body will be in the church one hour before the funeral.

Mrs. Batts died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born April 19, 1916, in Limestone County to Meathew Mendom and Birde Malone Mendom.

Survivors include one son, Lester Sowell of Horsehead N.Y.; three daughters, Gloria Flowers of Harvest and Idella Manning and Hazel Marie Fitzgerald, both of Nashville; two sisters, Bertha Mays and Susie O'Neal, both of Nashville; 23 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Knox Conatser

Graveside service for Mary Knox Conatser, 64, of Decatur will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Brady McCullough officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Conatser died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital.

She was born May 17, 1937, in Crossville, Tenn., to Crockett Knox and Jessie Garrison Knox. She was employed by Kelly Temporary Services.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Conatser; one son, Mark Conatser of Decatur; four daughters, Sandi Conatser of Austin, Texas, Brenda Lile of Decatur and Vivian Turner and Sara Conatser, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Gladys Pendergrast and Agnes Hall, both of Crossville, Alice Brown and Jewell Hill, both of Atlanta; and four grandchildren.

Ronald Wayne Franks

HARTSELLE -- Ronald Wayne Franks of Plaquemine, La., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002. Peck Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Elbert T. Hale

TRUSSVILLE -- Funeral for Elbert T. Hale, 71, of Birmingham and formerly of Decatur, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hale died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002. He was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Cherokee County, to Clayton and Elizabeth Hale. He was a former resident and business owner of Decatur, an antique dealer and a member of the Order of Kentucky Colonels. He also was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the brother of the late Charles Hale and the foster son of the late Robert Lee Pack and Paralee Pack. He and his wife were married 51 years.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Hardy; one daughter, Rebecca Encizo of Chattanooga; and one grandson.

Helena Rose Harp

Graveside service for infant Helena Rose Harp of Athens will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph Culotta officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.

The infant died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.

Survivors include her parents, Ricky and Julie Harp of Athens; one brother, Hayden Harp of Athens; three sisters, Hannah Carter, Hope Carter, and Hailey Harp, all of Athens; her grandparents, Harlan Harp of Decatur, Guy and Rosemary Speegle of Town Creek, Alan and Nanette Ault of Parma, Ohio; and her great-grandmother, Ann James of Decatur.

Jake 'Burt' Lyon Jr.

Funeral for Jake "Burt" Lyon Jr., 50, of Decatur will be today at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. James Chitwood officiating.

Burial will be in Buringtree Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Lyon died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at his home. He was born May 10, 1951, in Charleston, S.C., to Jake Lyon and Patricia Alexander Lyon. He was employed by OCI Chemicals and was a member of Westmeade Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Justin Alan Lyon of Decatur and Jake B. Lyon III of Bowling Green , Ky.; his parents of Cave City, Ky.; three brothers, Steve Lyon of West Palm Beach, Fla., David L. Lyon of Roanoke, Va., and Jeff Lyon of Horse Cave, Ky.; one sister, Julie Green e of Oregon, Ohio; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Thomas, Beuice Morgan, Ed Drake, Rick Thompson, Ellery Ross and Greg Crittenden.

Billy F. Robinson

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Billy F. Robinson, 74, of Hartselle will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Mount Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Alred officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Robinson died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Morgan County, to Frank Robinson and Nell Bennett Robinson. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and worked as a driver for Mayfield Trucking Company. He was the brother of the late M.B. Robinson and Sue Ross.

Survivors include his wife, Doris J. Robinson; five sons, Hal Robinson, Joe Robinson, Jimmy Robinson, Jeff Robinson and Andy Robinson, all of Hartselle; four daughters, Debra Mayfield, Diana Robinson, Billie Sue Robinson and Shirley Robinson, all of Hartselle; four sisters, Mary Robinson of Cullman, Jo Scott of Bay Minnette and Jean Buckelew and Sarah Wallace, both of Hartselle; and four granddaughters.

Bessie Mae Hopkins Rousseau

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Bessie Mae Hopkins Rousseau, 93, of Huntsville will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Webster officiating.

Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rousseau died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Parkview Village. She was born Feb. 24, 1908, in Madison County. A resident of Huntsville for 58 years, she was the widow of her first husband of 45 years, John C. Hopkins, and also Curtis Rousseau. She was the mother of the late Raymond Hopkins.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Wayne Hopkins of Hunts- ville; four daughters, Juanita Crater of Atlanta, Betty Young of Decatur, Brenda Sachs of Lebanon, Tenn., and Millie Porter of Seattle; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Lillie Mae Smith

Graveside service for Lillie Mae Smith, 88, of Decatur will be today at 3:45 in Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Holt officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends today from 2:30 until 3:30 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Valley View Nursing Home. She was born June 14, 1913, in Toccoa, Ga., to William Gay McIntyre and Decie Watkins McIntyre. She was a member of Austinville First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Frank Smith of Decatur; two daughters, Barbara Gautrex of Woodridge, Va., and Carolyn Hayes of Decatur; one sister, Sarah Williams of Dover, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Grandchildren will be pallbearers.

James Edward Coffey

Funeral for James Edward Coffey, 68, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Love Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Trinity with the Rev. Lawson Fletcher officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Coffey died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 12, 1933, to Meddie Coffey and Winnie Scott Coffey. He was a native of Morgan County and a member of Love Chapel.

Survivors include five sons, Eddie Joe Coffey, James C. Coffey, Franklin Coffey and the Rev. James E. Coffey, all of Decatur, and the Rev. Stanley Coffey of Caleen, Texas; three daughters, Lucy Brown of Courtland, and Laura Acklin and Melissa Drumgood, both of Decatur; one brother, F.D. Coffey of Decatur; five sisters, Rebecca Cadwell of Chattanooga, Naomi Sales and Vera Clack, both of Decatur, Elizabeth Dawson of Huntsville, and Mary Frances Hayden of Louisville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jessie Clack, Marvin Sales, Eugene Cohn, Karl Johnson, Eugene Dawson and John Watkins.
