David Brian Bedingfield

Funeral for David Brian Bedingfield, 42, of Trinity will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Culotta officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends and a rosary service will be held Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Bedingfield died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at his home. He was born March 11, 1959, in Chicago to Alton Bedingfield and Carol Cabanski. He was a salesman and he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.

Survivors include: one brother, Alton Bedingfield Jr. of Atlanta; and four sisters, Carol Ann Hammadi of Saudi Arabia, Bonnie Lee Waldrep of Moulton, Laurie Sue Coggin of Elkmont and Julie Ann Bedingfield of Santa Fe, N.M.

Pallbearers will be Scott Bedingfield, Alton Bedingfield Jr., Tim Waldrep, Milton Bedingfield and Steve Soto.

Anna Martha Bryant

ATHENS -- Funeral for Anna Martha Bryant, 72, of Athens will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Rickey Craft officiating.

Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. She was a homemaker and the mother of the late Rachel Wakeham.

Ms. Bryant died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at her home. She was born July 5, 1929, in Athens to Lon and Florence Gulley.

Survivors include: two sons, Clifton Pylant and Douglas Pylant, both of Athens; four daughters, Faye Wright of Athens, Mickey Goodman of Ocoee, Fla., Martha Ross and Janet Pylant, both of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Junior Gulley and Jerry Gulley, both of Athens; two sisters, Wanda Ledford of Orlando, and Betty McGraw of Athens; 31 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Corum, Robert McCurry, Daniel Patterson, Sam Chambers, Clifford Wright and Daryl Haggermaker.

Zettie Compton Cagle

Graveside service for Zettie Compton Cagle, 90, of Decatur will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Asa Boozer officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Ms. Cagle died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Alice Kidd Nursing Home in Tuscaloosa. She was born July 12, 1911, in Lawrence County to John Compton and Elizabeth Ellis Compton. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Survivors include: one son, Marlin E. Cagle of Decatur; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Iristine Watts McCaig

Funeral for Iristine Watts McCaig, 81, of Decatur was Tuesday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. G. Douglas Ripley officiating.

Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. McCaig died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Walker County. She was a senior companion and a member of Decatur Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Russell of Decatur and Troy Russell of Athens; three daughters, Deborah McMurtrie, Charlotte Russell and Linda Morris, all of Decatur; one step-son, Jessie Russell of Niles, Mich.; two step-daughters, Daisy Osborn of Decatur and Deveniard White of Memphis; two brothers, Troy Watts of Decatur and Cordis Watts of Birmingham; three sisters, Christine Allred, Thelda Kenerley and Shirley Kenerley, all of Birmingham; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons Chris Russell, Jeremy Russell, Ronald Morris, Donald Morris, Joey Russell, Jason Cottingham, Scott Cottingham and Jamin Cottingham.

Pamela C. Proctor

MOULTON -- Funeral for Pamela C. Proctor, 48, of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with Hollis Rutherford officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Proctor died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Aug. 31, 1953, in Lawrence County to Kenneth Hollis and Naomi Hollis. She was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her husband, Bobby Proctor; one son, Bobby Shane Proctor of Moulton; her father, Kenneth Hollis of Philadelphia, Miss.; her mother, Naomi Jenkins of Decatur; her grandmother, Nellie Hollis of Landersville; one brother, Scotty Hollis of Philadelphia; one sister, Kim White of Decatur; and one grandchild. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Proctor, Waylon Hollis, Cody White, Chris Proctor, Michael Strane and Shonn Proctor.

Laura Hue Smith

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Laura Hue Smith, 81, of Cullman will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Jackie Ellenberg and Aubra Gable officiating.

Burial will be in Cullman City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Morgan County to Hugh L. St. John and Arabelle Weaver St. John. She was a homemaker and the widow of Clifford Smith.

Survivors include: two sons, Clifford H. Smith of Decatur and Jimmy Smith of Cullman; one daughter, Sarah Sellers of Cullman; one sister, Sallie Clemons of Decatur; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Dixie G. Allen
Memorial service for Dixie G. Allen, 88, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the W.K. Stephenson Chapel at First Baptist Church of Decatur with the Rev. Buddy Champion and the Rev. Ron Madison officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Ms. Allen died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at NHC Healthcare in Moulton. She was born Aug. 8, 1913, in Birmingham to John Earl Douglas and Dovie Lee Edwards Douglas. She was the owner of World of Mirth Shows, and she was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. She also was a member of the Miami and Tampa Showman's Association.

Survivors include one daughter, Jill A. Eaton of Decatur; four stepdaughters, Jeanne M. Skapik of Wareham, Mass., Barbara A. Gruchy of Ahwatukee, Ariz., Ruth A. Ahearn and Marion A. Beckwith, both of Marshfield, Mass.; three grandchildren; and 13 step-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Recreation Outreach Center at First Baptist Church of Decatur, 123 Church St. N.E., Decatur, Ala., 35601.

Ruth Hill Avery

Graveside service for Ruth Hill Avery, 83, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at K.P. Cemetery in Russellville with the Rev. Billy Reding officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

Mrs. Avery died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at NHC Healthcare in Moulton. She was born March 20, 1918, in Russellville to Thomas Copeland Hill and Nell Sibley Hill. She was a homemaker and the widow of James Troy Avery. She was a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Webster of Jasper; one sister, Frances Duckworth of Long Beach, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Barbara Jean Caine

MOULTON -- Funeral for Barbara Jean Caine, 66, of Moulton will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Moulton Baptist Church with the Rev. Darryl Wood and the Rev. Ken Henson officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens with Elliott Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Caine died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at her son's home in Harvest. She was born March 19, 1935, in Pontiac, Mich., to Ray Pearsall and Ruth Pearsall. She was a registered nurse and a member of Moulton Baptist Church. She was the widow of Billy Caine.

Survivors include two sons, Dan Caine of Chattanooga and David Caine of Harvest; one daughter, Ruth Roubal of Jacksonville, N.C.; four brothers, Ron Pearsall, Clare Pearsall, Tim Pearsall and Jerome Pearsall, all of Michigan; two sisters, Kitty Johnson and Sherlie Thorson, both of Wisconsin; and four grandchildren.

Joann Carpenter

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Joann Carpenter, 35, of Cullman will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating.

Burial will be in Cullman Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carpenter died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, in Morgan County. She was born March 11, 1966, in Piqua, Ohio. She was a homemaker and the daughter of the late Jackie Lee Graham.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Carpenter Jr.; her mother, Eva Graham of Decatur; and two sisters, Sheila Trotter of Tennessee and Susanne Moore of Cullman.

William Elliott 'Son' Harbin

ATHENS -- Graveside service for William Elliott "Son" Harbin, 74, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery with Bruce Craig, Warren Glass and Kasey Harbin officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Harbin died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at his home. He was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Giles County, Tenn., to William Thomas Harbin and Ethel Harbin.

He was a member of Valley View Church of Christ and Woodmen of the World. He was a retired electrician from Fruehauf Corp. in Decatur.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Harbin; one son, Daryl Harbin of Athens; one daughter, Tina McElyea of Athens; one brother, Crutcher Harbin of Athens; one sister, Martha Jean Terry of Sacramento, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chad Harbin, Will Harbin, Jeremiah McElyea, Johnathan McElyea, Phillip McElyea, Kasey Harbin, Charles Durham and Wayne Chastain.

Jimmy Ligon

MOULTON -- Funeral for Jimmy Ligon, 66, of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Goodlet officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mr. Ligon died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at NHC Healthcare in Moulton. He was born July 16, 1935, in Lawrence County to Abb Ligon and Effie Ligon. He was a farmer and a member of Old Town Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Kenny Ligon of Moulton; one daughter, Donna Hood of Town Creek; two brothers, Clayborn Ligon and Charles Ligon, both of Moulton; two sisters, Bertha Sapp and Anna Jo Hood, both of Moulton; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Ligon, David Ligon, Gary Ligon, Norman Ligon, Keith Ligon and Brian Hood.

Ruby L. Steele

Funeral for Ruby L. Steele, 76, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Marty Steelman officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope United Methodist Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Steele died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at her home. She was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Mount Hope to Christian Steele and Ada Woodruff Steele. She worked at Monsanto for more than 32 years, and she was a member of Austinville Baptist Church. She was the sister of the late Ruth Porter, Tommie Earline Steele, John Steele, Homer Steele, Chris Steele and Roe Steele.

Survivors include: two brothers, Davis Steele and Ralph Steele, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one sister, Ida Lee Kunz of Cincinnati.

Pallbearers will be Elton Porter, Clarence Ray Steele, Jeff Steele, Gill Steele, Bobby Steele and Arnold Porter.

Gary Sumja

LILBURN, Ga. -- Memorial service for Gary Sumja, 47, of Atlanta will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at The Church of the Atonement-Episcopal in Sandy Springs, Ga., with the National Cremation Society directing.

Mr. Sumja died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002.

Survivors include one brother, Roy Sumja of Somerville.
